We have been to Maggie's numerous times and we have never left saying we had any issues with service, drinks, or their food. Who would have guessed that their fish and chips are absolutely delicious? Large portions battered and fried perfectly. Oh and their jumbo all beef Dawgs are just awesome. They do have Dawg options but I'm just an Old Fashioned kind of Dawg guy. They have drink specials during the week and live music as well. There is a game room that keeps the kiddos amused while the parents get their drank on. TVs are available for sports and there's a nice shady patio adjacent to the bar. Little ole Leander town center is starting to really represent with Maggie's, Leander Beer Mkt, Thirsty Chicken, Moonies, and Casa Costa. read more

I am extremely disappointed that, after our back-and-forth discussion regarding the purchase of our Christmas Eve meal from Maggie Mae's, my husband was told you were closed when he arrived to purchase at exactly 4:00. 1st visit to satisfy my curiosity. Ambiance was meh. Food was ok to pretty good. The fried pickles are extremely over priced (15 breaded pickle chips for $9. That's 60 cents per chip). And they didn't have much flavor. The Fish and Chips ($16) was good but the beer batter was rubbery and not crispy. The fries were good. My SO said the Monte Cristo ($13) was the best she has every had. I ate a 1/4 if it. Perfect batter and a good flavor especially with the raspberry jam. Service was meh. I realize it was her first day but all she did was take and order for 2 waters and 1 Austin Eastcider. You have to place your own food order at the bar. Then a guy from the back delivers it. Then the wait person brought the ticket which again to pay at the bar. And it had a suggested tip between $6.60 and $8.80. Laughable. I left $3. My SO said I should have left $0. Disappointing. We decided to go and have a drink, the UT game was on multiple TV's. When you walk in you're greeted and told to sit wherever you like and all orders are done at the bar. Been here before, and it was OK, but that was with people who come here all the time. I stopped by the bar to catch the end of the Spurs game and sat at the bar for five minutes while the waitress, sweet little things she was talked to another guy at the end of the bar about some girl and some tall guy named Ted, who plays basketball basketball, who is kind of a jerk. Apparently there was a fight, and they were trying to figure out who is stronger. I guess if you find a guy you gotta figure out who stronger you should probably figure that you lost. Down to the left end of the bar stood Mr. manager in his black shirt and black hat, shirt said bar manager in big white letters. He stood there talking to a couple of old guys and a big fat girl, Apparently he went to a club that didn't have bottle service. I was thinking how ironic he's talking about terrible service and I've sat here for seven minutes now. Just waiting for a beer. Next thing I heard him say, "we left the club and as soon as I walked out, my friend shoved the chocolate bar in my mouth", "that taste like shit", he said. His buddy said it's mushrooms, magic mushrooms, he said hell yeah let's do this, and he got high as a kite on shrooms. Minute eight and the third quarter of the Spurs game was over. He finally looked up and realized I was sitting there. He and the girl walked past me a couple more times before he stopped by and asked me if I wanted something to drink. I said sure I'll take Guinness. He poured the Guinness and let it sit walk back and told me it'll be $7.50, I thought to myself that was a little steep here in Leander, Texas on a Wednesday night. Next thing you know the waitress walk up and tell me it'll be 850, more confusion at this. Does he know how much the beer cost? Girl walks over to him and tell him it's gonna be 850 for my beer. He brings me back about 50. The strangest thing is I had given them a $10 bill and he still asked me for a credit card, I'm wondering if it was to rent the glass. I told him I'll just pay cash son. Last thing I wanna do is give some druggie who can't even bring up a beer ride my credit card If you own this place, that 6 foot tall kind of Chevy manager of yours, probably needs to be trained again! And you may want to reconsider having drug addicts around your bar at least the ones that are working. I gave it two stars because last time I was here was for a birthday party and I had a lot of fun also I would've given it one. I'll tell you this I won't be back. Guinness, a kind of fancy beer for Texas, but I've never paid more than six dollars for a Guinness in my life, and I've traveled all over the world. Maggie Mays wins number two in my heart for the worst bars I've ever bought Guinness in. The worst Bar ever bought a Guinness in was in Modesto, California. I went to an Irish pub, walked in. It was bear, had a painted leprechaun on a surfboard on the wall, and the girl poured me a Guinness, and made sure it didn't have a head on it. Wanted to enjoy and support a local business. Saturday 7:30 good crowd. No one greets you, found a table had to clean it ourself. Asked the couple next to us if we order food at the bar. Yup, ok, no biggie..personally disappointed when we ordered Mexican Martinis and did not get the shaker. That's usual and customary most restaurants. Got over that. Food was ok, we had fish and chips and a ribeye...live music was to start at 8:00 pm. Some guy got on stage and started practicing his vocal notes, so annoying. Then some chick got on stage, you could not hear her. Six different TVs going each with a different show. The volumes were not on, but it was distracting. I was hoping to hear the musicians, and that was not the case. We could not way to get out of there. My son in law who ordered our drinks felt the bartenders were not interested in being there. As we were leaving the sign that should have been facing the door says "seat yourself and order at the bar" such a minor detail.. Server was walking around with prepared food guessing who had placed the order. Small town Leander really wants y'all to succeed. Good luck. Will never go again or recommend...second time visiting, fist time we only had one drink and left. I would usually give our spot a 5 star rating but after tonight's visit I'm not sure we will be back. We are very frequent patrons like weekly! But, after tonight's bill for 5 beers, 3 dressed Dos, and 2 michelob ultra's (in a bottle that I asked to be put in a cold mug) 5 beers cost us $30.25!!!! $6.00 x 3 for DRAUGHT Dos, with salt rimmed on the glass, and two bottled Michelob's out in a COLD MUG $5.00 x 2... $30.25 TOTAL?!? We can go to the gas station and get a fence post for $2.79 Not to mention earlier in the day I went and got 2 12oz daiquiri's for $12.69...... I know inflation isn't on alcohol lately, it's gas!!! Think we are going to conserve and not drive here.... I can go to H-E-B and get a case of beer for $23.00. I don't think we will be back for awhile. I went one time recently. I had a few niggles with the place and felt mildly disappointed. Cons: 1. Poor selection of IPAs. Come on, I know Leander once had a reputation of meth addicts and poor folks, but that's not so much the case anymore. It would be nice to have a bar that had a little more than the basic domestic beers. We have people living in million dollar homes out here, but when you go to a bar you can't expect much more than a Coors Light. 2. They messed up my order two times. Yup, I was brought the wrong dish two times in a row. It's loud in there at times, so I can understand how there was a mess up in communication, but the second time was inexcusable. 3. The male cook bringing the food out was a bit flippant. He didn't even ask if I needed anything additional, he just dropped the food on the table and marched away without hesitation. People that act like this don't belong in the service industry. 4. The live entertainer played Southern Man by Neil Young. The song is condescending and accusatory towards the south. Texas is probably not the best place for that. Pros: 1. The food was decent. 2. They have at least one attractive bartender that I have seen. read more

Great Food Great Atmosphere and Great Friends. Going to Maggie's is like hanging out with your Best Friends, many of whom you may find already there. Always Friendly Service, your treated like Family (Those members of you family you want to see anyway). Everything on the Menu is great and I've tried almost everything on it, I'm told that even goes for the "Crispy Brussel's" although on those I cannot attest because even Maggie's is not going to get me to eat Brussel Sprouts. Beer is cold, Staff is Great, Games are on and one of the Best Bloody Mary's I've ever had. Highly Recommend it. read more

The bar staff is extremely friendly and they make you feel very welcome there (Maggie..yep same as the bar) in particular is always amazing. My one complaint is that it feels a bit crowded particularly the outdoor area but their food is amazing and their mixed drinks have more of a professional feel than that of the beer market across the street. In terms of service, atmosphere, food, everything is next level compared to the beer market. They also have great events and live music which just adds to the experience. read more

The general manager came out and told us he didn't not feel comfortable serving us the fish as he felt it was not up to their standards of quality! Not impressed. Really looked forward to going here and enjoying it, complete opposite from expectation. Arrived shortly before 9p on a Friday. Place was packed with a few tables left open. We sat at a table at first assuming waiters would stop by, after a few minutes we decided to move to the bar. Before we could even start to order, the bartender told us the kitchen was closed. Odd to us considering food was being served around us and we had just heard someone order a min before. When asked what time the kitchen closes, the answer was anytime between 9-10, just depends. We ordered drinks and we were less than impressed. Poorly mixed, lack of alcohol in one. Might try and go again, but definitely will not plan on it. read more

A hidden gem in Leander. The food was delicious. I had the chopped steak with mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. My friends had the steak which was cooked to perfection. We did not expect this from a casual bar/restaurant. We were headed Leander Beer Market and thought we'd give it a chance. So glad we did. You order at the bar and food is delivered to your table. First Impression. We got there right when they opened at 2:00 p.m. The place probably received 2 customers while there on a Thursday afternoon. The waitress was friendly and kind to get us out of the hot Texas sun. I ordered the ribeye steak (medium well) with mashed potatoes. The steak was done correctly - presented with toasted french bread (loved that), but the seasoning on the steak was a bit salty. My husband is a cheeseburger freak and got his fill of that with fries. My green beans were al-dente just the way I like them. All-in-all, we enjoyed a quiet (early dinner / late lunch). As an old UT Austin grad, I was super excited to learn that a Maggie Mae's was opening in Leander - almost like a little of my college memories being brought up north. :) I've been waiting to try it out, and when I saw they were finally open during the Old Town Christmas Festival this weekend, I had to try it right away! My two boys and I sat on the patio and ordered the onion rings, chicken & bean nachos, and a chicken fingers kids meal. The chicken fingers and fries were the stars - even with all the food on the table, my 9 and 10 year-olds ended up fighting over the fries. The chicken fingers looked hand-breaded, and not the straight-from-the-freezer type you get in lots of kid meals. The nachos were great, with tons of cheese, guac, pico, etc. They even brought an extra bowl of queso to go with the nachos! The onion rings were thick and crispy, and they reheated well, which was good, since I probably shouldn't have ordered so much for just the three of us. I love the location with its little stage on the patio, and I'm just thrilled to have something so very *Austin* right in the heart of Old Town Leander! read more

Great atmosphere and great service! I've been Maggie's Leander a few time since the opening and have enjoyed it every time. I've had the Three Alarm Burger and the Chicken and Black Bean Nachos, both very delicious. They a good selection of reasonably priced drinks with drink specials throughout the week. Today I've been watching football on the many TVs around the place. There is also a small arcade room for kids and and a patio for when the weather warms up.
