So I tried the new Magerks in Lionville and was not impressed. We came in at 5 PM on a weekday and were seated right away. Great start. Server was prompt & attentive. This is where it goes downhill. We ordered the Crab Pretzel appetizer and it was mushy and flavorless. Pretzel was soggy and crab filling was likely from a can. I ordered the hot chicken wings ($15 for 10!) and they were lukewarm and the sauce was very watery. Not impressed. I can't remember what my daughter ordered but she was not impressed either. One of the most obnoxious aspects of this restaurant is the noise level. You literally couldn't barely talk to the person next to you because it was so loud in there. So, if you're looking to meet coworkers after work for a drink or take a date here, I wouldn't advise it. We commented to each other as we walked out that we weren't likely to come back anytime soon. read more

Food and service were great! We were in town for a soccer tournament and they were very accommodating to our large party. We actually went there twice while visiting because the menu was great. Well... happy to see a new spot in the neighborhood. The bar is nice. The other room, well... shoot, I wouldn't want to sit there. It's like sitting in a train station hallway. No personality and loud as... a train station hallway. The food was good enough. When a new place like this opens up, I don't try to challenge the menu right out of the gate. I got a hamburger... my only issue here is that the owners or chef (who knows, but my guess is the owners) seem to love pickles. So they basically soak your lovely roll on a pool of pickle jiz. You lost points there boys...Most pickles end up in the dumpster. That's a fact, but the burger wielding restauranteur's of our day are too terrified to serve a burger without one... for fear of offending the 21% of their customers that actually want them on the plate. The draft beer was cold, well done boys. Also, the porch area looks great... outdoor fireplace looks like a great hang. ATTENTION OWNERS !!! Ok, enough of that... now I'm going to point something out that's going to save you A LOT of money, and a lot of headache... but only if you heed to my caution. If you ignore me... remember me good sirs. The concrete surface at your entrance is a "slip n fallers" paradise. I'm not talking about during snow or ice, that's a given. I'm talking right now... rain. I'd even go so far as to say a summer night where the temperature changes and condensation happens on a warm surface. It's certainly attractive, but absolutely should not be in a high traffic commercial setting, so change that tomorrow... or watch this post be used against you in court. I'm not kidding guys. You did the hard part... you put a nice looking restaurant together, much applause, well done... but lick your wounds and fix your misses when you see them. I'll be back... a slightly better burger, and we'll get 4 stars... a corrected entrance (for your benefit, not mine) and you'll get a 5 banger all day long. read more

We have gone to MaGerk's since they opened and it as normally a pretty solid place. Unfortunately, tonight was horrendous . My husband ordered "double chocolate martinis" literally an item listed on their menu . Well I guess the waitress "Andrea" wasn't familiar with the menu and we stupidly didn't check our bill before paying not until we were ready to sign. She charged us for top shelf double martinis and top shelf long islands . Nowhere were we ever asked nor did we specify that we wanted "top shelf" and when you are asked if you want top shelf they ask what type of liquor would you like . If it was an honest mistake and it was just corrected I wouldn't be writing this review . My issue is this , when we asked Andrea about this she said that we ordered gray goose doubles I told her we didn't and proceeded to show her the drink on her menu and she stormed off . We didn't see her or any manager for 10 minutes, we had our kids with us, one being a toddler and I began to grow really frustrated by the way we were treated and how long it was taking to get a simple issue fixed . Just when I got up to try to find a manager a man came over and approached us and said I'm the manager I wanted to hear your side of the story . Like what?!?! I am being interrogated and made to seem like I am lying to get free top shelf drinks . I expressed just this to him and told him exactly what I told her my husband ordered the item on YOUR menu . I told him I was furious that this was our experience as we have been here before and like coming for a casual dinner but our service was terrible that is not how you act when you make a mistake. I told him our appetizer literally came out with our food which was annoying in its own but I hadn't even planned to say anything until this drink mishap. Love Mcgerks atmosphere wait staff but had a horrible experience with management was at the restaurant with my seven-year-old son to watch the Cowboys game as we do every week had some eagle fans use foul language toward my son and I,asked to be seated somewhere else then the manager came over stated I'm the problem because of the colors I wear which were Dallas Cowboys jerseys my son and I was a very sad experience to have in front of my boy who loves the Cowboys and loves football in general, not to mention he hid under a table when the men were cursing at us... horrible experience management was notified and did nothing. My wife and I were told by our friends that we had to go and eat at this restaurant so, of course, we did. The wife had shrimp tacos and shared that she would eat these every day if possible; she loved them that much. This used to be my weekly go to for lunch. Over the last couple of months it's just gone down hill. I'm not sure if it's a management issue or new wait staff that aren't trained properly. The salsa ranch dressing for the southwest salad was so good. This last visit it was like water and didn't taste even close to ranch. I told our waitress and she apologized and said she would get me the right dressing. She came back with the same dressing I returned saying the chef said it was the correct salsa ranch. I could barely use it. They also consistently forget the black bean corn salsa on the salad as well as forgetting it on the southwest nachos. This would be a 5 star review if it wasn't for the ambiance. The design/layout was cool, but it has an bit of an industrial decor which makes the interior acoustics virtually unbearable when its crowded. An easy fix with sone acoustic dampening artwork or panels. The food was fabulous with some unique menu items and the staff was on point and friendly. Also, the kitchen was fast, and for how busy it was this is saying a lot. I'd def go back, just not with hard of hearing people. . read more

Really didn't read any references prior to ordering, and wish I had read about the she-crab soup or garlic bread first! This was our first visit to the restaurant, and we hoped to be surpised and delighted! We had a wonderful waitress, Kira, who was smiling and right with us from the time we sat down. Our order of fried pickles was "so-so", and the special breading somewhat a disappointment. It didn't stick to the pickles!! The dipping sauce was good, though. Should've asked Kira what was good on the menu!! We ordered the regular hamburger and the Magerk burger, and also received $1.00 bags of chips on the side. As I noted before, we hoped to be delighted, but were sorely disappointed. Both burgers left a lot to be desired. My burger was flavorless and dry, the tomato not ripened, and the lettuce was tinged with black. The Magerk Burger also dissipointed. The buns on both burgers were stiff and didn't contain the filling, and everything slid out; had to be eaten with a fork and knife instead. If you're there for a lunch and a football game, or to share time with friends, you just might overlook these problems, but we were just there to enjoy a nice lunch. My husband and I have been here 3 times since it opened 3 weeks ago. Great food, nice atmosphere. On our most recent visit we received excellent service from Carmelo at the bar. The restaurant and bar are always packed. Carmelo managed to keep everyone at the bar taken care of with a pleasant and easy going manner even as he was very busy. My wife and I tried Magerks. Wait was about 20 min for 530 on a Friday. We have tried to stop in a couple times before but wait times exceeded 45. Atmosphere is nice. Waitresses were attentive and quick. Almost too quick. We both got cream of crab soup which came immediately. Like in 30 seconds upon ordering. It was good not outstanding. Needs a little spice like paprika or course black pepper. I got wings and she got short rib nachos. Nachos were huge but cooled quickly given it was on a aluminum pizza tray. Disappointing as it became solid. Maybe a ceramic pie plate or even cast iron would keep the heat better. The wings were large, hot out of the fryer. I asked for lime cilantro but think I got gold rush instead. Nevertheless the sauce had no flavor whatsoever. Literally if I closed my eyes I was eating plain chicken. Overall Disappointed in the food even though the staff was great. I think I have 5 better options within a mile. I hope they can improve the food. Or maybe we just ordered the weakest options. read more

Called the store and spoke to a manager and everything got taken care of with what the order was suppose to be. A group of friends went there this week for the 1st time on a Monday for dinner. Upon entering we were welcomed which felt great! As to drinks, I asked for a house chardonnay and was told they sold out of it over the weekend. I realize some restaurants are closed on Mondays, but they are not. So I asked if they had a pino grigio instead, and the waitress said yes. I enjoyed 2 glasses of a great pino grigio over the next 3 hours. I ordered a crab cake grilled cheese sandwich and it was excellent so I was prepared to give this restaurant a 5 star rating! Upon receiving the bill I noticed that I was charged for the most expensive pino grigio on the menu - $14.00 a glass, whereas a house pino grigio is $9.00 and would also be $2.00 off during happy hour (which we were). The waitress seemed new but offered no excuse for ordering that expensive wine. When I asked her to check with the manager he told her there were no discounts for that wine. Since I had asked for a house wine, I insisted I be given a discount at the very least. She checked with her manager again and gave me a revised bill for just $2.00 off each glass. Even though we had received our bill the entire party was not finished their drinks, so I then asked for coffee. The waitress came back with the reply that the coffee maker was broken! I felt sorry for the waitress since it was obvious her manager had been in charge of this fiasco. I do not recommend this restaurant for these reasons. I'm not sure of the reasoning behind this type of customer manipulation but it's very upsetting to be treated this way!!! read more
