Salmon Benedict
Marni M.

We came on a Sunday for brunch and were able to get seated right away on their porch by their kind hostess. Since we were outside, I did not get to see how large their indoor space was but it was very homey from what I could see. They had a delicious french toast made from their homemade cinnamon bread and perfectly cooked the eggs whether it was over easy or poached. The home fries were a little overcooked for my likings but they did have a touch of cajun seasoning on top. However, I found my Salmon Benedict to be too salty given it was smoked and paired with a feta smear. The green bowl included thinly sliced greens like broccoli and brussel sprouts that were cooked to my slightly crisp preferences. Overall, we had a good experience. Our waitress was so kind and personable but I do have to give a warning for the bees that can be quite relentless. Food was good and prices were reasonable so I would like to come again!

Short rib and corned beef benedicts (2 separate meals that we split)

We visit Mae's annually during our trip to Maine. This visit they were especially accommodating of one of our dietary restrictions. All of the benedict options we wanted were appealing and we wanted to share 2 different ones while accommodating a gluten and dairy allergy. We were able to request 2 different benedicts deconstructed so we could split them and everyone was happy. They really made it work! Both the corned beef and short rib benedicts were delicious! They are also very accommodating for children.

Corned beef Hash and poached eggs cooked perfectly

I have been wanting to try Mae's. The location has tons of memories-like from the 90s! We stopped in today and it was amazing. I had an eggs Benedict-surprise! And it was soooo good - interesting that there appeared to be cheese under the ham - yum. The hollandaise was light, just right. Wayne went for corned beef - and proclaimed it awesome. His Bloody Mary was the only slight down side; but he finished it! The room is great - nice art, but a bit warm (of course it is high 80s so...) mimosa was fab. Our server, Zachary was quick, professional and even offered a visit to the walk in cooler to cool off

Steak and mushroom omelet

Solid three (that's not bad...). I'd actually do 3.5 if that was an option. Since it's not, I'm rounding up to four. I've wanted to visit Mae's for a while but they've been closed the couple of times I stopped by, previously. Yesterday was the day. The outdoor porch seating is lovely. I picked a corner table. Our steak and mushroom omelets were fine but nothing "special" per se. The sourdough was good. I really enjoyed the homefries. They were out of corned beef hash - the main reason we stopped in - chicken sausage and squash. Our waiter was proficient but not really friendly. The bakery items looked amazing but I can't vouch for anything but their looks. I didn't buy any.

Cute decor

Gluten and dairy free friendly. Fun atmosphere with the seagull mascot and the elf tree out front.

Quiche

Love this place. It's got a cute interior and friendly servers. All very helpful too. My food came out quickly and I didn't have any issues. I ordered the quiche that came with a side salad and a roll. It was all yummy. The quiche was a hearty slice with bacon in it and the salad was nice a light to complement the quiche.

Brussel sprout & Bacon hash with eggs. Side sausage. Yum

Nice breakfast! Brussel sprout and bacon hash with eggs. Side sausage. Nice light and airy, comfortable place for a nice start to the day. Wife had Avacado toast which looked terrific too.

Came in on a Saturday, got put on a waitlist to be seated in 40min. Service was slow, but staff was nice. We had to ask for our check multiple times as we could not locate our server out front. I think they are understaffed. Food is pretty good. Coffee cake was moist. It's a popular spot.

My husband loves your breakfast, but I usually veto due to few vegan options. Could you offer veganized versions of your quinoa bowl and Reuben?

Absolutely, just ask your server for no eggs and aioli on quinoa bowl or veggie Reuben with vegan dressing no cheese- happy to adjust!

I'm a breakfast regular, early mornings with the local fisherman and tradesmen and mid morning with families and other locals. Just order the days special, or hope they've still got haddock chowder and pie with ice cream left (all house made and great). Booths and counter space. Very casual but always clean and bustling. Super friendly (and fast and pro) staff, even if you're from away . Coffee refills at the ready (this isn't Starbucks, don't expect an espresso machine). Off street parking in their lot, open year round. Did I mention the chowder and pie?

The wait staff were very congenial and rather cheery, the service was great, the prices were good, the portions were larger than we expected but more importantly delicious. The other patrons seemed to be locals as there were lively discussions not only at their table but from table to table. When someone new walked in there were greetings to them from other patrons. The atmosphere was awesome, the food was great, the staff were welcoming, and the decor fit the name! PS The diner was clean!

Today I opted for the Monte cristo. Yum!! Perfect blend of sweet and savory. Coffee cup never runs dry - always appreciated. Cash is preferred (and there is an ATM on site) but cards are accepted.
