I got the green curry, and it was quite good. The umami was soothing and deep. The tofu spring rolls were also good. But, if someone asked me to nitpick, I can do that easily of course. I asked if medium spicy was "Thai" medium spicy or "American" medium spicy. She said she thought it was Thai medium spicy. After tasting it, I definitely thought it was closer to American medium. But it's not a big deal; after I let her know, she gave me a little cup of some chili flakes and seeds. After I put those in, they were closer to what I would consider Thai medium. Although, I would've preferred for the curry itself to be more spicy from green chilies. I believe the color is a shade more yellow than I'd like because there isn't a lot of green chili in it to begin with. The ratio of curry to rice is very American. I immediately ordered a second bowl of rice. I have come back and try more things.

We visited the San Ysdro outlet and right after,  my wife got a craving for Thai food . We tried this small Thai restaurant called MAE'S THAI . We couldn't find any review about it but still we went to try it . As soon as we got there, the place is small with 5 tables only but very clean and welcoming look . We were approached by a Nice lady in the counter , gave us menu and we are so Familiar with Thai food so we ordered our food  fast . We Had Pad Woonsen with Pork  , Red Curry w/ chicken , and Tom Yum w/ Chicken . The food came all in to go containers but still we are able to Dine in because  they will give you plates and utensils .  Sunny the cashier and server at the same time was very nice and very friendly . My Wife made the first impression of the food and she said she Loves the food here . And I agree as well that the food here tasted  good  . Plenty of Parking around . And this restaurant just opened 2 weeks ago .

1/3 of the total onion I found amongst the noodles in my Drunken Noodles dish

My wife had driven by Mai's Thai Kitchen earlier in the day and said it smelled wonderful. She asked me if we should eat take out from there for lunch today. She picked up the food on her way home. I ordered the Drunken Noodles with shrimp at number 3, for spiciness. When I uncovered my food it was hot and smelled well-seasoned. In fact, it looked very inviting. I forked through a bit of the top layer and saw that it had more than a bit of onion, which wasn't much of a surprise to me. Everything in the plate was well cooked but for me I'm sad to say that the overwhelming flavor of onion and I guess basil or something in there, were a lot more than I was looking for. I took a picture here approximately 1/3 of the amount of onion that came in the Drunken Noodle dish. Total it was like 3.0+ tablespoons of large, onion pieces. For my mouth, it seemed over the top with onion flavor. One other minor concern I had was that though we had ordered the noodles with shrimp, I found about 3.5 bites of chicken at the bottom of my plate. Had I been a vegetarian who ate some seafood or a pescatarian, I would have been very upset! Next I tried a fresh shrimp wrap. In the middle of the lettuce there was another strong flavor-- not sure what it was, but it made me so overwhelmed the lettuce and shrimp taste, I couldn't finish it. Anyway sad, but Mae's Thai Kitchen is a no for me.

    Thai Iced Tea, so good

We finally got to try Mae's Thai Kitchen on Coronado Street in San Diego, and we're so glad we did! From the moment we walked in, the place had a warm, welcoming vibe, and the staff was super friendly and attentive. We ordered the chicken black pepper with broccoli, crispy spring rolls, red chicken curry, mango sticky rice, and Thai iced tea--and honestly, every single dish hit the spot. The chicken black pepper was flavorful and had the perfect kick of spice, and the broccoli was cooked just right--not too soft, not too crunchy. The crispy spring rolls were light, fresh, and not greasy at all, which I really appreciated. One of our favorites was definitely the red curry--it had such a rich, creamy coconut flavor with the perfect level of spice. We were dipping everything in that curry sauce! For dessert, we shared the mango sticky rice, and it was the perfect ending to the meal. The mango was sweet and ripe, and the sticky rice was soft and warm--just how it should be. And I can't forget the Thai iced. Portions were generous, and for the price, we felt like we got a really good deal. You can tell the food is made with love. We left full and happy. Highly recommend if you're in the area and craving some tasty Thai food!

The food here is absolutely delicious! The Isaan-style som tam (papaya salad) is bursting with authentic Thai flavors, and the crispy chicken wings are perfectly seasoned and so satisfying. A special dish from the chef - shrimp that are perfectly an outstanding flavor. I'll definitely be coming back for more. Highly recommend stopping by to give it a try!

Food was fresh and delicious, and the customer service was above and beyond listening to my husband's dietary restrictions to accommodate his needs. He went with the eggplant stirfry with seafood cooked in mushroom sauce. He loved it

Very simplistic and easy to read Menu. Very eye catching. The restaurant itself is small and cozy and really clean.

Food was pretty good. I loved the curry and fried tofu i ordered on the side. I had passed this place about 3-4 times because I live 1 block away and today i decided to give it a shot. I am definitely coming back. The server was really friendly and helpful. The small cozy restaurant is very nice and the contrast of the white, green walls, plants, and wood finish floor, and tables gives it a very pleasant atmosphere.

The staff was friendly when we arrived, we were seated quickly, received our drinks promptly, and our food came out fast. The music was enjoyable, the ambiance was nice, and the restaurant had a modern, welcoming feel. Most importantly, the food was excellent. Everything we ordered was delicious, and my kids couldn't stop talking about the crispy pork belly. Honestly, the food itself was 5-star quality. The issue was what happened as the restaurant approached closing time. About 10-15 minutes after we started eating, a staff member brought our check and asked us to pay even though we were still waiting on two mango sticky rice desserts that had not yet been served. I politely explained that we hadn't received all of our food yet, so it didn't make sense to close out the bill. The desserts were brought out shortly afterward. A different employee then returned and again asked us to close out the check, assuring us that we could continue eating while they finished closing. Although I was hesitant, I paid and explained that I would leave a cash tip after we finished since we were still dining. Unfortunately, from that point on, the service noticeably changed. No one checked on our table, our water glasses were never refilled, and the staff seemed focused on cleaning around us. The booth behind us was being cleaned very loudly while we were still trying to enjoy our meal. It made us feel rushed and unwelcome, and honestly took away from an otherwise great dinner. When I asked for containers for our leftovers, the interaction felt cold and standoffish compared to the friendly service we received earlier in the evening. My suggestion would be that if the restaurant is close to closing and doesn't want guests dining in, they should clearly communicate that and switch to takeout only. The food was genuinely delicious, and I would come back again--but not near closing time. Great food, disappointing end to the evening.

We were lucky and were able to grab the spot right out front. For drinks we each ordered a cocktail. We ordered 4 dishes to share, the wasabi scallop ceviche, crispy baby crab, braised beef panang, and crab fried rice. The ceviche was definitely one of my favorites. Super flavorful, fresh, with the perfect amount of wasabi. The crispy baby crab was savory and easy to eat, especially since you're eating the whole crab, shell and all. The curry in the braised beef panang was so addicting, I couldn't stop eating it. The crab fried rice was tasty and filling. For dessert we got the mango sticky rice. The mangoes were fresh and sweet. Overall pretty standard but still yummy. Service was friendly, helpful and attentive. All the food came out in the timely manner. When we ordered, our server took the time to explain their spice scale (1-5), letting us know that a 1 is already about a medium spice level. We settled on mostly 2-3, but wow--the Thum Khao Poon (shredded green papaya salad) still packed some serious heat! Even my spice-loving kids were challenged. The server also gave us a heads-up that it's very fish-forward in flavor, which we appreciated and happened to love. The absolute standout of the meal was the Nam Khao Tod. It was hands down the family favorite--crispy coconut rice with pork sausage, crunchy peanuts, fresh herbs, and so many incredible textures and flavors in every bite. We could have ordered a second plate! We also had the Drunken Noodles with chicken, which were slightly oily in the best possible way, making them extra rich and delicious. The Chef's Special Basil Stir Fry with Crispy Pork was another winner. Our server brought over a chili vinegar that elevated the crispy pork to a whole new level--it was so good drizzled over every bite.
