My favorite place for Thai food here in South San Diego (Palm Ave/805) near Teresita Fruiteria. Come and check them out. Today ordered Tom Kha soup with shrimp, spice level 2; Curry puff pastry is like a Thai empanada with cucumber/vinegar dipping sauce, and Thai iced tea (no boba). Other items ordered before... crab fried rice (real crab meat), panang curry, pad thai. Have more menu items to try.. We usually see Tanny.. very friendly and courteous staff, great customer service. I ordered takeout from Palm Thai and found the food to be just okay -- not bad, but not especially memorable either. We ordered a variety of items to sample the menu, including the Spicy Basil Fried Rice, Drunken Noodles, Crispy Rolls, Chicken Wings, Cheesy Crab, and Potstickers. The fried rice, noodles and wings were decent, though could have used a bit more flavor. The highlights for us were the potstickers, which we enjoyed. Unfortunately, the crispy rolls and cheesy crab were a disappointment and not something we would order again. Overall, if I were to order again, I'd stick with the noodles or fried rice. I normally make the drive to Bahn Thai if I'm craving good Thai , but today I was hungry and UberEats was my go to choice. I was so shocked that this hidden gem is here and has such amazing food. I went on the safe side and ordered a three for spicy not knowing if they'd get it right , but they nailed it on the noodles and curry. The chicken panang had a good kick to it. I just wish they put more chicken in it. The pad thai was a little dry. I wish it was more saucy. The spring roll was good. Bad: *Customer service was bad. *I had spent a 45 minutes calling to place a to go order and all I kept receiving for 45 minutes was a busy signal. I let the gentleman upfront at the cashier know I have been attempting to call for about 45 minutes and he basically did not apologize, he turned around and walked away from me went to the back and came back with the phone, again no apology. *I have to say that that's pretty pricey for pineapple fried rice, chicken satay, and Thai iced tea at is over $90. This place is truly a hidden gem! So happy to have found this place just a 15-minute drive from home in Chula Vista. Parking is easy, as its located inside a strip mall. As soon as you come in, you are greeted by the hostess/server. She sat us right away. We ordered two kinds of curry (green and panang), drunken noodles with beef, and the chicken wings. It was a lot of food for 3 people, portions are really generous. Food quality is excellent. We asked for level 1 spice and it was perfect for us. I visited for lunch on a public holiday for the first time. When we arrived, there was only one other group of customers, so the restaurant was relatively quiet. It seemed that one female staff member was handling both orders and serving. However, I don't recall receiving any greeting when we entered, and throughout the meal there was no smile or warmth. Instead, I strongly felt an atmosphere of "please order quickly." The food was served very quickly after ordering. We had the crab fried rice, Pad Thai, and Larb, and all of them were well-seasoned and very delicious. However, when we asked for chopsticks and sharing plates, the staff member responded with a very displeased attitude. We also wanted extra napkins, but we decided not to ask because we felt we might receive another unpleasant reaction. Also, the Larb came with only three slices of cucumber, so we asked for more. Again, the response seemed unfriendly, although we were given three additional slices. Since the restaurant was not busy at the time, the cold and irritated attitude stood out even more and made us feel uncomfortable. We're always greeted by the friendly staff when we walk in. My husband and I stop in pretty much every Thursday, because it's conveniently close to where our daughter trains. The restaurant is small and cozy. You can either order at the counter or from the table. They do a 1-5 spice level, but could always ask for the chili caddy if you're up for more heat. My go-to is always pad thai tofu, but we've also had their yellow curry, yum woon sen, tom kha soup, garlic pepper beef and some tum. All of which is tasty and spicy! As the other reviews stated, they serve their food on paper plates, which isn't an issue for us. It's all about the food for me. Pretty solid thai food that I wouldnt mind trying again, however I do have some notes. I did have it as take out but it doesn't change much in my opinion. The pad thai was pretty good and had a good burst of flavor, especially with extra lime! The drunken noodles had the moat perfect texture, however it lacked flavor unfortunately. It tasted like it needed more of a dark soy or oyster sauce type of taste but I did was add some soy sauce at home to make it more pleasant to eat, which was a shame because the texture of the noodle was absolutely perfect with the right amount of bounce and chew. Green thai tea was sweet and creamy but a bit overly sweet. If i could change the sweetness, I would probably get it again! read more

Finally found a great Thai place in the SouthBay & now my favorite Thai place in the SouthBay. After trying so many Thai places because our original place lost its touch we came across this one & we're all about this place. Best Chicken Pad Thai & Drunken Noodles I've ever had, true story. If you like a lot of spice do a level 4 if you like a good kick do a 3 if you brave & don't mine the burn later go for the 5. Their fried rice is also very good, spice 3 on it is good. Portions are very generous, on those 3 items you can share with 2-3 people & trust me you'll love the flavor on all 3. Wings are ok but I rather double up on the Crispy Rolls, crunchy, fresh & flavorful. The inside is very clean & has a nice vibe & good customer service, food comes fast, fresh & with a smile. Usually the owner takes your order & she's so nice & very attentive. Their cups of water might be a bit small so it's ok you can bring your own water bottle/Stanley, if you like spice I say bring it or you can buy a drink there. Over all we love this place & happy it just opened a few months ago & we look forward to coming when we do come. It was my first time eating here. The server was so nice and helpful. I ordered the house salad with the peanut dressing and pad thai. The dressing was delicious. I wish I knew how to make it since this place is not close to home. It was a tangy peanut sauce, not too thick/runny. The pad thai was also good. They used the thinner rice noodles which I personally love. Just the right amount of sauce. I cant tolerate spicy food so I appreciate that they have different levels of spice. We ordered pad see ew, pad Thai, panang curry, and Thai fried rice... while the fried rice was a little muted when eaten with the other items, all the flavor was rich and savory with some sweetness and without being too salty. Use caution when choosing your spice level.. we are light weights, and a level one panang curry was spicy for us, lol. A great addition to the neighborhood. We wanted to try this place and we were not disappointed. We walked in, the place was set nicely. It is spacious and we were greeted warmly. We ordered; papaya salad, tom yum soup, chicken wings, and of course mango with sticky rice. We got our papaya salad first followed by the soup then the chicken wings. The service is great and you don't have a long wait for the food to arrive. The papaya salad is just like it is in Bangkok or even Chiang Mai. The Tom Yum soup was great the the chicken wings were flavourful and crunchy. We finished our meal with mango and sticky rice, it was a great ending! I have eaten here 5 times and I can't rave about their food enough. The ingredients are all super fresh and high quality. The flavors are so good and everything I've had has been amazing. The curry puff is so delicious. Flaky pastry with yellow chicken curry inside is delectable. My husband says of he went alone he would just get those because the order of two is very filling. The drunken noodles are so flavorful. We had the garlic and black pepper tonight with chicken beef and shrimp and I was soooo impressed by how good the beef and chicken were and the shrimp were cooked I absolutely perfectly which I find rare. I used to frequent this location more often and recommend this place to friends but after my last experience dining in and tipping, I was given an attitude by the owner for asking for a lime wedge and immediately felt unwelcome eating my meal afterwards. I'm always polite and she made me feel like it was an inconvenience for her and that she'll give me a lime "this time" and that I was so wrong to not previously mention I wanted one side of lime at the time I was ordering. I've been in the restaurant business for years and this is something I would never make a big deal over, as customers do ask for some things after receiving their food. I find it weird to be stingy over a lime wedge because I spend over $30+ every time I come here. It's a bit ridiculous to now charge $1 for a single wedge of lime because other Thai restaurants don't bat an eye at this considering lime is something that often comes with the dishes. It's a shame because the food is great and the younger cashier was always nice but my last dine in experience here when the owner was working was awkward and off-putting. read more

I usually don't write reviews, but this experience was beyond unacceptable, especially in front of children. We walked in and there was no one at the front. The place wasn't full, and there was seating available, so we seated ourselves. A person in my party is hard of hearing, and according to the lady at the front, she told him to wait--though he didn't hear her. When I approached her at the counter to understand how the ordering system worked (do we order here, or do you come to the table?), she cut me off, clearly frustrated, and snapped that she already told us to wait. I tried to explain that I was just helping out so she wouldn't have to go to the table, but instead of appreciating that, she gave me the nastiest attitude. When I told her I didn't appreciate her tone, she actually had the audacity to tell me, "If you don't like it, the door is open. Go eat somewhere else!" The whole place went silent. It was shocking, unprofessional, and completely out of line. We were just trying to understand how to order and help her out, as she seemed overwhelmed, and instead we got treated like we were a problem. I ordered the Panang curry, drunken noodles, 2 Diet Cokes and for dessert the grass jelly. The drunken noodles were excellent. The Penang curry had a subtle hint of a flavor reminiscent of cleaning solution similar to "fabuloso". I had to throw it away, it tasted like mopping solution/liquid/cleaner/detergent. The grass jelly was excessively sweet and had very little grass jelly. It was mostly syrup. However, I was blown away by their amazing service and the fact that they offer you a cup with crushed ice. This is a delicacy to me. It makes the drinks so much better and elevates the flavor in a unique way. I will be back for the drinks and noodles. read more
