    Volcano Tom Yum Mama Pad
    Khanh-Chau M.

A pretty good Thai spot in the Annandale area! The volcano dish was good with the noodles and spicy, although I felt the vegetables were somewhat bland. The calamari was standard too but still good. Overall a good spot that I'd try again.

Probably some of the best Thai food in the DMV. Shrimp cakes, pad Thai, and pork. Everything was absolutely divine! The decor is cozy and fun as well! I always appreciate a Thai restaurant that leans fully into its own culture.

Food- Thai fried rice with chicken. Nice flavor! Also lots of chicken. Side of peanut sauce- good flavor Service- ordered online and I as ready when promised as well as followed instructions for certain items to be left off! When I went into the restaurant the ladies working were very kind Ambiance: It is very nicely decorated inside. Next time I'm in town will have to come and eat inside.

Aesthetically this place is very cute. Small shop in a mini strip mall. Plenty of parking but it does get packed because there are so many other stores. Pad Thai was pretty sweet but classic and The dumplings kind of felt like shumai. I would probably not get them again. They have a pretty good happy hour deal, though doesn't apply on the weekends. For the price, it was a pretty good meal.

Such a very cute, well-decor, cozy restaurant. Thanks to Instagram for showcasing this spot. Service was very friendly and attentive. We ordered the Tom Yum soup, Fried Egg Rolls, Nam Tok Salad, and Crispy Chicken with Green Curry. All delicious! Tom Yum was very sour and good! Green Curry was a bit spicy, just fyi. but love this spot! Definitely would recommend!

Feels Like Home - Authentic Thai Food at Its Best This place truly gives me the feeling of being back at home. I absolutely love everything here -- the food, the cocktails, the Thai craft beer, the chill vibes, and most of all, the warm, welcoming smiles from the owner and staff. Even though I live an hour away, I still find myself happily making the drive just to enjoy their authentic Thai dishes. My favorite is the papaya salad -- I've tried so many at different restaurants, but this one wins my taste buds every time. The shrimp cake is perfectly crispy and not overly breaded, and the moo ping with sticky rice instantly brings back childhood memories. If you're looking for truly authentic Thai food and genuine hospitality, I highly recommend this gem of a restaurant. It's absolutely worth the trip.

Two thumbs up. Visited with my brother who was in town and mentioned Thai wasn't readily available where he is now living in Kentucky. Well I had noticed this spot while at the Giant & checked out the reviews I am happy to add to the positive assessments. Enjoyed the drink, the dumplings, and all the entrees were well received. The vibe was relaxed, vacation like with woven straw lamp shades and floral plates. The staff was friendly and attentive. Definitely plan to visit again.

Really delicious pad see ewww, my husband loved his pad thai as well. The soup was in very small portion which caught us by surprise because the last night they gave us more. Flavor is great. Price is reasonable, it's only 5 mins drive from our house so we come here from time to time. The decor is really cute as well.

We came on a Sunday afternoon and were seated promptly. The restaurant is tucked away in a shopping mall but the atmosphere inside is super cute. Service was friendly and the food came out pretty quickly! We got the larb and chicken satay to share. The larb was so good and not too spicy, but still had a bunch of flavor. My partner got the Pad Thai, which is a classic and this restaurant does it well. I got the boat noodle soup with beef and the broth was so comforting. Everything was super fresh and the portions were on the larger size, we ended up taking home leftovers!

Tried my mom's favorite Thai place in the area this past weekend and we really enjoyed the tod mun goong, pad see ew, and drunken noodles! The thai tea was delicious and refreshing and the ambiance, decor, and service were just lovely. Can't wait to come back and try more things!

Crispy Fillet Tilapia w/ Mango Lime Dressing

Yes! I went again three days after my last visit with my mom this time. I ordered their seasonal menu, Crispy Tilapia, since the server recommended it last time I visited. It was realllllly good as expected so refreshing and yet amazing texture of fries. My mom can't do Cilantro and the sauce contained Cilantro, but she even said the sauce was sooo good that she didn't really care whether it contained cilantro lol. It was savory yet refreshing meal! It was a lovely visit and I will definitely return and so is my mom

What a hidden gem! The ambience is so nice and it is decorated so well! The service was quick and food was served hot and so fresh. Fried calamari: It was fresh, and there was a lot of squid inside, not just the fried batter. It comes with two sauces. Larb egg rolls: Came smaller than expected and skinny, but crunchy. I wish I could taste the larb more. It tasted like a lumpia. Drunken noodle with beef: Noodles were so soft and the beef was tender. It was spicy but not too spicy. Shrimp Thai fried rice: (Not the basil fried rice) the rice was perfectly charred on the wok, the shrimp was large and juicy. I will say the portions are a lot smaller than other Thai spots, but it was very good quality! Their lunch menu includes common rice or noodle dishes for $11.95. I would return again!

Ordered the volcano tom yum mama. The amount of seafood and great flavors made the dish worth the price it even though it is instant ramen. Flavors were good and not too spicy. Alot of their other dishes look good too. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for Thai food.

We tried A&J and liked it a lot!…read more This is not a typical Chinese-American restaurant. A&J has quite a few pleasantly unexpected dishes. Service was welcoming and efficient. On a mid-Saturday afternoon, the restaurant was about ¾ full. We started out with the Wonton Soup and the Spicy Wonton soup. The Wonton soup is just okay, but the Spicy Wonton Soup is wonderful and highly recommended. For another appetizer, we ordered the Scallion Pancake. It has a nice dense texture and I really liked it. It would've been even better if it came with a dipping sauce. We also ordered the pickled cabbage. It was good, though lacking seasoning. Our first entrée was ground pork in a delicious sauce accompanied by sprouts and thinly sliced cucumber (or was that zucchini?). Recommended! Our second entrée was a Pan Fried Beef Bun. The beef was flavorful but the bread was kinda dry. Our last entrée was the Beef Wraps. These were great! Who woulda thunk that beef and fresh carrots would go together so well?! Oh, the chili sauce in a jar on the table is extra tasty. At the end, before we got our check, we were given a plate with sliced cucumbers in a light tasty sesame chili sauce. Excellent! But the hot tea was an epic fail. It had no flavor whatsoever. Peeking inside the teapot, all I could see was a micro tiny tea bag floating or sort of sinking. One other thing I kinda don't want to bring up in light of the great food we enjoyed, but need to in the spirit of full disclosure, is to mention that A&J shares space in the building with several other businesses. The restrooms are common to all the businesses. A&J needs to lean hard on the property owner/manager to do a deep cleaning in those restrooms. I'll leave it at that.

We got the crunchy rice with sour pork (naem khao thadaeu), pork shoulder (ping), fried catfish (patod), chicken pad thai (kua mee), and warm coconut milky dessert (bua loy). All the dishes were delicious but a bit more salty than Thai. Feels like a lot of fish sauces in all the dishes. The crunchy rice came with lettuce but ours were not the best lettuce. The fried catfish were nicely fried with a perfect coating. Definitely a dish to get. The pork shoulder is another dish to get. Nicely seasoned with sticky rice. Their version of pad thai is uniquely different than Thai. A bit more sweet but the lime makes it better. Wife wanted to try bua loy dessert. It is a warm sweet dessert that balanced out all the salty flavors of the dishes. Something to try as well. Flavor are still the same. The dishes we order were too much for 2 of us. My only complaint was the restaurant smelled like smoke when we walked in. Not the kind where there was a fire in the kitchen but more like someone smoking in the kitchen?

The seating inside is pretty spacious, for a Wednesday night it wasn't too crowded so we were able to get a table relatively easily. This time I went with my vegetarian friend and I think it might have become her new favorite spot. First thing she said when I came in was "there's so many options" when usually it's what can I eat? With a full vegetarian menu, it's a great spot for those who like an Asian cuisine but suffer from the oh it's not vegetarian. Luckily the whole menu is vegetarian. The waiter/server also said they are doing great and planning on opening a second location in Chantilly soon! We ordered the vegan clam dip, shaky beef, and the fish (vegan) soup. Delicious food all around, I always prefer the clam dip and shaky beef. Really good flavors and a great combination. We definitely ordered too much food, so I would say if it's just two, two dishes is enough. Shaky beef was a little different this time around but still good flavor and you can taste that it's vegetarian or some other meat, but it's pretty darn close to beef. The flavors in the sauce and other bell peppers and onions elevate the flavor profile. The fish soup was a new dish, and definitely had a fish flavor but was a little overpowered by the tomatoe. I probably wouldn't go with that one again, but the others were still amazing.
