As a beer enthusiast I have to say I have never in my life seen a brewery as HUGE as this place. Let alone any other kind of craft bar or eatery. They have a spectacular patio area, a covered outdoor bar area, inside bar, another bar, more bars and seating in the back, bars, seats, bars, and seats. Folks. This place can hold more beer and people than you can imagine if you get my gist. I got to try about 9 of the current taplist options they had. My favorite was probably the Happy Amber which is strange for me, because I am normally not an Amber fan. It had a great malty head with a nutty finish. I enjoyed the PsycHOPathy as well. The beertenders were also very friendly and helpful for explaining any questions we had. They definitely have an extensive menu with beers for everyone's taste which is why I think this place is so popular. read more

Fun place, beer's ok, and very dog friendly. We brought a bag of chips in from Mazunas next door, and their resident Soup Nazi was just kinda crappy about it...made for an awkward night. Glad we dropped $8 bucks a beer to not have a snack... And I thought the bartenders were very helpful and prompt. Very impressed with their new location. And love how the old building still shines through even with all the updates and renovations. The area is really great in the summer with games and picnic tables but it easily converts to a great winter afternoon. We were surprised how broad their menu is and how delicious everything it all is. The stuffed peppers were the treat by far and are a must order! Love all the beer varieties. I never realized how many Madtree offered. Next time we'll need to try a tasting flight. A great place to bring out-of-towners for a taste of Cincinnati or spend a lazy Sunday. read more

I've always been a fan of MadTree, and I probably reviewed them already, but with the move to the old location maybe it got eaten. The new facility is very nice, with my favorite part being the wide open patio that allows puppies! Dog friendly businesses are very important for my wife and our new puppy. Not a whole lot else to say. It's a brewery and the beer is delicious. Pints are priced at the usual spot ($5 or $6), with growler fills available. I'm still nostalgic for the old building, but this one'll do just fine. read more

I'm a frequent visitor of Madtree and my best advice is to eat before you come. Catch-a-Fire is an absolute joke of an establishment. I'm confused as to why Madtree even allows them to use their space because it is such poor service and quality which is the opposite of Madtree taproom. Half of my party received our food quickly (we ordered different items) and the other half waited over an hour for their food to be ready. When I went to check on it the order was made incorrectly. I received no apology from anyone from Catch-a-Fire just a "we will make a new one". This is not the first time this has happened. I have been in the service industry for over a decade I understand mistakes happen but this is a constant occurrence. The taproom staff is 100% accommodating. They should advise people not to eat at Catch-a-Fire. read more

Seems to be a local favorite and was very busy on a Saturday late afternoon. Variety of pizzas to choose from and they were tasty. Also, a large variety of beers. Large and open dining area with outdoor seating as well. Lots of dogs were in the outdoor area and I think it's great to have a place to take a furry friend. About $25-30 per pizza. Clean, trendy, and relaxed atmosphere. Here's the bad... Seating is "whoever can get to the table first". Music was so loud you couldn't have a conversation at dinner. Long wait for food and our appetizers came out after the pizza. Canned soda instead of fountain. The sand from the shuffleboard table was everywhere and made the floor super slick-one woman even fell. Pizza was thin crust and did not feed as many people as we thought and it was "an hour wait" to get more. Parking was crowded. Seemed a little disorganized overall. Most people enjoy going and I have to say that it wasn't a bad experience; I don't ever need to return again though. read more

Big selection of interesting beers. Several IPAs, a nice kolsch for the summertime, a vanilla thing that tastes better than it sounds, and many more. All made on the premises. You can get sampler flights to help pick a beer. Food provided by a pizza place across from the bar. Also very good. Try the hummus and the potato skin type things. I finally made my way over to the new location this weekend and I was really impressed with it! I always found the first one to have the worst acoustics and was never able to hear when it was busy. The amount of space in comparison is amazing! The patio was perfect, even in the cooler weather. There were a couple fire pits and heat lamps above the tables on side without. It is always a plus when I get to pet a bunch of dogs! Bring your pup if you want some instant friends because I definitely wasn't the only person striking up convos with strangers just to get closer to their furry friends. I was impressed by how clean and quick the staff was to wait on everyone during a busy Saturday evening. I had no problem walking up to the bar, even with people sitting along it. While we were there, only the inside bar was open so I'm not sure if the outside one is open only during nice weather or if it's a volume based decision. Either way, they definitely make it easy and accessible. There was constantly someone walking around outside collecting empty glasses. The next time someone recommends going here I will 100% be on board! The change in the volume alone is enough to push this brewery up to one of my faves. Throw in a beautiful patio and friendly dogs and I don't know what else could beat it! read more

We stopped in at Mad Tree on our way to the Eric Church concert with some friends from Cleveland. We had signed up in advance for the tour and we all really enjoyed it. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the whole brewing process and the science behind it. He was able to answer all of our questions and you can see from the stacks of cans in the picture they have a large brewing facility. After the tour we ordered pizza and had a couple of beers. Mad Tree has a large selection of beer on tap and we were all able to find something we really enjoyed. Pizza was great. We have never been let down at Mad Tree. read more

I love visiting the larger Madtree location! I have visited about half a dozen times now and I look forward to returning. My first time was the grand opening and it was so packed, but the energy was contagious. I also have visited to attend a Green Drinks event, and I appreciate that the space is large enough to host multiple groups at once. Otherwise, I have met friends here several times to hang out on the patio. I love that there are two bars, one inside and one out, and they have the beers listed twice on each so you can be spread out and not on top of one another. Inside is so large, it can be quite loud sometimes. It can also be loud outside though, to be honest. I love the large patio space, with tables, chairs, and even cornhole games and a fire place. Beer is good, too! Though some of them are not as amazing as the description suggests (sage, pepper, etc Saison that tasted more like a hefeweizen). They have pizza and sandwiches too!! Which are both good, though $5.00 for a slice seems excessive to me. Conclusion: I love the community vibe of this place, and whenever I'm trying to park in their infinitely full parking lot, I'm reminded just how much Cincinnati needed a place like this and how much it has already become a community favorite. read more

My coworkers always joke that I live at MadTree and it must seem this way because I feel like I am always here! It is such a cool space and so perfect for any time of day. My favorite beer of theirs is Shade, which is a sour, and it's usually only available around the summer months I believe. I also love Dreamsicle which is available all year round. Other notable beers include their Blood Orange Psychopathy, which comes out around September, and Boysen the Hood, another really good sour. They have Catch-a-Fire Pizza set up in their space and their Buffalo Soldier pizza is honestly to die for. I always get it when I'm there. Unless it's a weekend morning, then they have a great brunch menu! I recently got the biscuit and gravy (and actually, they were out of regular sausage gravy so they substituted it with their pulled pork gravy and they made a great choice! It was so good). I've never had their cinnamon rolls but they always look amazing and have never seen someone look mad while eating one! They also have events all the time - I recently went to a Project Yoga class in their taproom and then was able to grab brunch and a beer afterward! I always try to be on the lookout for new stuff happening there and cool new beers they tap because I've never been disappointed! read more

After visiting both MadTree 1.0 and MadTree 2.0, the difference is night and day. While my experiences at the first MadTree were enjoyable, I wouldn't say I was at all comfortable. Between trying to find a place to park and then trying to navigate to the bar, it was a hectic, crammed experience. However, the brewing company has given itself and its patrons a huge breath of fresh air with MadTree 2.0. We love the massive bar, open outdoor seating and (most importantly) dog-friendly atmosphere. Well done, MadTree! read more

Solid 4 stars. Good beer, decent pizza, and you can take your dog to their patio, which is luckily enclosed with heaters I the winter. I come here fairly often as my running group likes to base themselves out of there on Wednesday in the summers. If you have a problem with sweaty people, don't come on Wednesday because you will also find runners from the nearby Fleet Feet in addition to us. At least there is ample space for all to drink, but not necessarily to park. The beer really is top notch, so it deserves the crowds it gets. But it is exactly these crowds that causes me to deduct a star. You can get your good beer, but you have to anxiously stand, awaiting your chance to snag a seat. Your dog is welcome, but he will also eventually become anxious as 20 other dogs smell his butt. Is it worth it? Depends on your personality. If you want to be at the top spot, definitely go. If you want a relaxing environment, you might need to find somewhere else read more

First time here and it is PACKED. I'm not a big IPA person but I still found beers I like! I love tart sours so the shade and margarita shade are my favorites. You can also get a flight of 4 which is what I got. The bartenders are amazing as well! We got here around 1:30 on a Sunday and some car show was going on the parking lot so there wasn't much parking but I got lucky with a spot. We ordered food right away and they said it would take an hour but only took about 30 minutes. My veggie pizza was sooo good but the crust was terrible (I hate crust anyways). Vegan friendly though which I love! (I'm vegetarian). Very family friendly. Lots of kids running around (kind of in the way at points but I'm not one to complain about kids). And VERY dog friendly!! Water bowls provided I believe. I absolutely love breweries and this one is a top fav of mine now. read more

FINALLYYYYY. I have been graced the opportunity to check out the new Madtree 2.0 and let me just color myself impressed. This space is not only massive but gorgeous. We hung out outside because THEY ALLOW DOGS IN THEIR BEER GARDEN! So this review is just for the outside space and bar but TIP: If you have a pup that adores attention bring them to Madtree because my Opie was the star of the evening at this brewery. Onto the brews, they have a wide range of beers and variety on tap plus the pricing was noticeably low. I stuck with the "All in the Hips" which was a tart brew that was only $5 for a pint. NOT BAD in my opinion. They are still in the process of moving everything over from their old location and from what I know they still do tours at the old space. I can't get over this entire space and I want to get back ASAP grab some brews, Catch-a-Fire pizza and hang with some friends (and of course my pup). read more

I want this to be known because this was an experience I went through, which I find ridiculous. I ordered a small pizza around 8 pm on a Friday night. Now, I realize it is busy and the orders may take some time and I'm very patient about that. They had given us an hour long wait time. Ok, that is fine I get it. Now what actually happened: Two hours later, having to go to the front counter (again) and asking what in the world is going on? They stated that they forgot about our order and it was just being worked on. This is completely unacceptable and the worst part is that nobody behind the counter owned up to it. I think in any food service environment there is some level of customer experience that needs to be met in these instances and it was not there. When Madtree was just Madtree 1.0, I always forgot about it. It was tucked away in such a random spot and wasn't close to anything else. I never considered it for a drinking destination. ENTER MADTREE 2.0!!! Everything about their shiny new location is an upgrade. I went to their grand opening and was completely blown away by how big, airy and just downright amazing it was. I wondered if an ordinary visit would live up to the same expectations. SPOILER ALERT: It did. There are more taps, more bar space, more tables, more Catch-a-Fire Pizza (they have their own side of the building now) - and best of all: a large patio space just calling your name for some day drinking (and cornhole playing). My favorite part? You can bring your pup! They also recently opened an observation deck to explore the brewery from an eagles eye view - pretty neat touch! Rest assured, Madtree 1.0 lives up the hype and is a welcomed addition to Oakley. Cheers! read more

First of all, they have a great beer selection. You have to walk around to see all the choices since there are different option on each of the different boards. The beers are all very interesting and different. Their dreamsicle beer is a must try- tastes pretty typical going down but the after taste is creamy and reminds me of a dreamsicle (not that I've had one in years). There's a huge outdoor area with lots of tables and a couple fire pits. Great for a chill night when the weather cooperates. There's an indoor area as well, but it's a lot smaller. Also, you can look at the factory setup inside, which is pretty cool! read more

For many reasons but primarily because it's a total madhouse at the bar. If you point out to the bartenders that you have been waiting longer than the people that just walked up they just get nasty. That was both the case ordering and trying to close out my tab. This was after I pointed out the guy beside me was next and then they go on to take orders from people to my left and right before I spoke up. Again, they don't like it one bit. If you live north of the 275 loop I would drive up to Rivertown for good food, good beer, and a fun and humorous wait staff. read more

Great beer in a huge space! MadTree has definitely become one of the best breweries in the Greater Cincinnati area since they first opened. Always a wide variety of beers on tap with lots of different interesting flavors and styles. All your standard styles (IPA, pale ale, kolsch, porter, brown ale, etc.) plus an ever-changing spread of flavors including creamsicle, Earl Grey, chamomile, grapes, sours, passion fruit, peppercorns, juniper berries, blood oranges, basil, almost anything you can imagine. The inside has plenty of tables, bar seating, standing bars (you know, bars for standing at so you have a place to set your beer), window seating, and open space. The bar itself is really long which makes it easier to find a place to order a beer although it can certainly still get busy. And the large outside patio is wonderful when the weather is nice. There are multiple cornhole boards set up which I believe is required by law if setting up a brewery taproom in this area of the country. There is also a large bar outside so when it's sunny outside there is no problem getting a drink. I like that they left the brick wall from the former building so that it blocks you from realizing that you are right next to the road. Catch a Fire Pizza is inside and has a big facility to accommodate making food for big crowds. They always have pizza but they also have soups, salads, sandwiches, and even walking tacos. The pizza is pretty good, not the best but they have some toppings that I really like such as kale, goetta, and pesto that you might not see everywhere. Dogs, dogs, dogs! I like dogs but there are too many dogs at MadTree. They are all over the place. I don't know how to remedy this other than to say no dogs because limiting the number of dogs would be difficult and confusing. Maybe there should be a no dogs after a certain time rule, I don't know. But there are too many dogs. Overall, a cool place to get a great beer. I'm sure this newbie space is still working out the kinks but holy bad acoustics. It is clearly popular but with the hundreds of people in the cavernous space, it was ear-ringing loud. So bad that we kept seeing people around us gesturing to their ears in frustration either from missed conversation or discomfort. The outdoor space looks amazing and I'll be back to check it out and therefore may re-review. Today the speakers were on outside at max volume but that's probably because very few people were out there so staff hadn't been out to notice or adjust. I assume there might be more tables inside one day too? Lots of us were standing without anywhere to sit or put our beers. Summary: not a great place right now if you're bringing littles or want to converse. But probably an amazing spot if you want to just get drunkenly or have already killed some of your hearing.
