MADRONA ARMS is a cozy neighborhood sports bar with decent pub grub. I like the ambiance of the fireplace and how spacious enough the interior is to be able to hold large groups. They have some tv's with different sporting events on to appeal to different types of fans. I like the look of the bar and I thought the service was friendly and efficient. I was in a group of 7 people and our order came out together and we thought our food tasted good. Madrona is a cute neighborhood. I would totally recommend exploring this neighborhood and I would hang out and eat here again.

My favorite spot to grab drink after work. I love coming here on Thursdays to order their weekly dinner special (usually a hearty serving of pasta!) and watch the game. Service is always amazing and very attentive. Plus they have a fireplace that is normally roaring during the fall and winter. Truly a gem in Seattle.

We were in the Madrona area and looking for a casual place to eat dinner...Madrona Arms worked really well. Here is what we noticed: - It was pretty quiet the night we were there (even though it was a Saturday night) so we got a booth. The vibe is fun, definitely sports-bar like, but very relaxed and inviting. - For a change, we weren't drinking but the cocktail menu and list of draft beers looked good. - My wife and I each had a cup of the Whiskey Crab Bisque soup, and then we split the Irish Dip. The soup was ok...a little strange as the crab was pretty much chopped up, but the flavor was good. The Dip, on the other hand, was spectacular! I've never been a French Dip kind of person, but this time having the sandwich with corned beef (instead of roast beef) was the bomb...it was so good that I wish we hadn't split the meal. And, the fries were done extra crispy as we requested! - Service was pretty good...it's a little strange that everyone helps everyone, so we didn't know exactly who our server was. They all pounced on us at the start but when we told multiple people that we needed more time to look at the menu, then it took them a while to notice. Bottom line: This is a nice place, the kind of neighborhood folksy place we wish we had around the corner from where we live.

I ordered medium rare and received well done after 30 + minutes of trying to get my order taken.

If you like good food, hospitality, and efficiency, DO NOT come here. Took 30 + minutes to place an order just for it to arrive wrong. The place doesn't know the difference between medium rare and well done. Not even the dogs would eat the burger I got. Questionable at best. Also gave me 2 pickle slivers for a $19 burger. After 20 + minutes of trying to wave down a waitress to take our order, my senior father headed over to the bar to try to see if we could place our order. He forgot to ask for a substitution on my burger so we had to spend another 10 + minutes trying to wave someone down to fix it. I would also like to point out the waitress, saw us trying to get her attention several times, but ignored us or went to tables where people were just being seated to take an order. When our food eventually did arrive, we were over the service and just wanted boxes so we could leave. Didn't even care the order was wrong, at that point, I was better off cutting my losses and going home. Overall just very hostile.

Shockingly slow service even on a relatively slow night. Food is ok, but is it worth the wait? No, not really

We ordered the Irish chowder, and corned beef and cabbage with mash potatoes, and a glass of Guinness beer. The chowder tasted like any chowder I had before but this came with soda bread, and the bread was really good. The corned beef dish was also delicious. Lots of flavor to it and certainly not salty. The cabbage (carrots and string beans) paired well with the mash and the beef. Service was quick and non- bothersome. Our waiter came to check in when they needed to and not when we were about to stuff food in our mouth which happens far too often than I would like to share. As for the establishment itself, it is quite dark, which all align with what pubs would be. Interesting to say though that the walls were adorned with art and the right pillar where we sat had a frame of what looked to be a collection of irish stamps. It was pretty neat to look at.

Bartender recommended - no, suggested - a red ale similar to Smithwick's. It is not Smithwick's. I don't really remember the food, and I suspect that's a good thing. I asked the waiter if the corned beef and cabbage was good. He said, "We are an Irish bar." When gently pressed, he added, "A lot of people order it." The staff doesn't seem to think there's much to recommend at Kell's these days and I'm inclined to agree. 3 stars for some good memories, they still put on live music, and the fact that while nothing was great, nothing was terrible either.

The venue inside was very quaint and felt like how an Irish Pub should be. The live artists they had were great and very talented. Had the whole room filled with excitement, dancing, and laughter, all that I was looking for in this holiday. Entertainment aside though, the bartending section wasn't the best. Similar experience to what some Yelpers have mentioned, the service wasn't too friendly. I understand it was a busy and stressful night for the two men working, and ordering was a little disorganised. Tried ordering Irish Coffees, but the bartender said "no coffees" and they moved on to the next customer. I'm sorry, I know you had to tend to the next people, but you didn't even give us a chance to tell you what we alternatively wanted instead. That was rude. And then they ignored my group for ten minutes until we were finally able to grab their attention again. We ended up ordering a Guinness for everyone, and paid the tab right away. The bartenders then took the tab back, and took care of the other customers. We saw them pour our Guinness, but then left it sitting back there for quite a bit. We were just straight staring at it, wondering if we were going to be handed it? It wasn't until we spoke up that they gave our drinks to us. It was served in plastic cups which isn't a big issue, but I liked the glass cups better from the previous bar we went to. After that we brought our drinks over to whichever table was open in the side room. Not the cleanest pub as the only table we were able to get was filled with many empty cups and cans piled in the middle of the table. Again, I understand it was a busy night, but there could have been at least one staff member going around the place making sure things get cleaned up. It was also quite warm in the main room, but luckily the side room had a window opened for cool air. To be completely honest though, if it wasn't for the live music and environment - Owl'n Thistle would've earned my first ever one star review. Maybe on a normal night I would want to give this place another chance due to the holiday circumstances, but other reviews on a normal day seems to describe a similar disappointing experience.

Perfect Sunday Find - Crispy Halibut & Unexpectedly Amazing Mashed Peas!…read moreWe stopped by on a sunny Sunday while out for a walk, just planning to grab a drink--but ended up having one of the best fish & chips I've had in a while. The halibut was perfectly fried: crispy on the outside, tender and flaky inside. The fries were a bit on the softer side, but still flavorful. Surprisingly, the star of the dish for me was the mashed peas--bright, creamy, and elevated by a touch of lemon that brought everything to life. We paired the meal with a dry cider, which went beautifully with the fish. Such a spontaneous and satisfying find. I'd definitely come back--especially for those peas!
