BUT, we were crammed into a 15x15 patch of grass for a campsite, which also included your vehicle. Flat rate of $150 for 5 nights. My Cherokee and tent almost filled the entire spot, only a few feet from neighbors. Everyone I saw and met were wonderful people, all here from long distances to have a life changing experience. But there were no markings on the "streets", hard to see at night which one is yours. Only 6 outhouses nearby, with long lines, scant toilet paper, and nearly filled on Monday. Heaps of garbage bags, essentially no garbage containers. Non-potable water was $1 PER GALLON, complete ripoff. No place to dump your grey water. No shade. Shower trailers such a long walk that I did not bathe for the 2 nights I stayed. Significantly, I never used my shuttle pass, both times on Sunday the buses either never appeared, or we were told "shuttles are cancelled, go back to camp." Could never use my Festival ticket. T shirt I ordered online weeks ago never arrived. Though they did charge my credit card. Food stands in the grass area were pretty good, hot air balloon rides (tethered) looked fun. Had heard the Festival itself was small and overrated. They charged $50 EACH for passes to the "kid's" area, which was also apparently not worth it. Madras ppl were very nice, but the venue was not well run. Well worth doing, but I felt taken advantage of, charged a lot for rather little. Some of the above are observations, not entirely complaints. Not sure how anyone could manage an event of such uncertain parameters.

Biggest issue to be aware of is to call and confirm the hours for the day you want to visit. For example, yelp says closed today, yet it was not. First, our group of three was informed that a mandatory 20% large group service charge would be added, which felt surprising considering the level of service we ultimately received. After waiting over an hour for our food, we had to go find someone ourselves to ask about it because no staff members were walking around checking on tables or updating guests. It turned out our order seemed to have been missed entirely, and we were then told it would take another 15 minutes. We also noticed multiple groups around us waiting around the same amount of time for food, so this clearly was not an isolated issue. While we understand it was Memorial Day weekend and likely busy, we would hope the winery would anticipate and staff appropriately for holiday traffic. When the food finally arrived, the pizza was undercooked and lacked flavor, and the chicken Caesar salad tasted very basic and prepackaged. For the prices, the food quality and service fell well below expectations. The setting and atmosphere itself are beautiful, but the service and food quality need significant improvement before we would consider returning or recommending this winery to others. We felt it was important to share our experience in hopes that this feedback leads to meaningful improvements for future guests.

A Truly Special Experience at DD Ranch…read more Our family visited DD Ranch in Terrebonne this past weekend for the pumpkin patch, and I cannot say enough about how welcomed and cared for we felt from the moment we arrived. We were celebrating a birthday, and while there were so many wonderful things about our day, one moment in particular will stay with our family for a very long time. My nephew has cerebral palsy and is wheelchair-bound. While there were some activities he could participate in and enjoy, there were naturally some things that weren't accessible to him. But one of the wonderful women on the DD Ranch staff made it her mission to make sure he was included in anything and everything he could safely participate in or ride. She didn't simply acknowledge him--she went out of her way to make sure he was part of the experience, just like every other child. The staff was incredibly willing to think creatively and do whatever they could to make activities more accessible so he could have as much fun as everyone else. That kindness and genuine effort meant more to our family than I can put into words. Watching my nephew feel included, welcomed, and excited made our day truly special. DD Ranch may be a smaller ranch, but it is very clear that they put an incredible amount of love into their land, their animals, and the experience they create for their visitors. Most importantly, they know how to share that love with the families who come through their gates. A very special thank you to the wonderful gal who made our nephew feel welcomed, included, and loved. Your kindness made a lasting impression on our entire family. We will absolutely be back--and we can't wait.

Or at least if you agree with my baseline assumption that alpacas are maybe one of the greatest things to ever exist. Okay, perhaps I'm being a little overzealous about the alpacas. But seriously, this is a really fun way to spend an hour or two, and it doesn't cost much. There's a cute little store where you can buy all manner of alpaca-related merchandise. You know like sweaters, hats, stuffed alpacas, magnets, dish towels, alpaca-scented candles, or whatever the hell they sell in little stores like this. It's fun to browse, but the real attraction is outside. Walk up to the counter, throw down five bucks, and they'll give you a Ziplock baggie full of little alfalfa nuggets. Then you head outside and walk next to the nine huge pens full of alpacas and feed those little bastards. And it's hilarious. They're cute in their own weird way, and they'll come right up to the fence and eat straight out of your hand. Their crazy prehensile lips take some getting used to, but keep your hand flat and they won't accidentally take a finger with the alfalfa. They're actually remarkably gentle. Although some of them are total pigs. Those are my favorites. They'll follow you around, shove the other alpacas out of the way, and basically behave like they've been waiting all day for you to show up with a Ziplock bag full of snacks. Eventually you start noticing that they all have different personalities, which somehow makes the whole thing even more entertaining. My gosh. Best five dollars I've ever spent. I took my 20 year old daughter and she had an absolute blast. It was just something we did to kill some time while we were up visiting Crooked River, but it ended up becoming one of those unexpectedly great little memories from the trip. So yeah, highly recommended. Go check them out. Give them some money. Support the ranch. And enjoy the alpacas, you crazy person.
