Great vibe with good wine and food (cheese/meat platter, Hummus platter). We did a red wine tasting for $25/person. There is a lot of space indoors with a fireplace. Perfectly cozy indoors on a rainy day with a nice view outside. We met the owner show described the history of the family winery. Definitely will return again. It would be nice outdoors with a view. Looks like it also has a lot of space to do special events outside.

COVID Friendly host, family winery for 20 years, they are growing their own wines from Europe. Their Temporillo is ok, dessert wine Toosie is not overly sweet which is liked by hubby. Not a lot to do at the lawn, but a good spot to stop and stretch along the highway drive through Oregon.

Beautiful grounds and delicious wine. We learned about the wine from the wine maker. Everyone had a beautiful time.

It is not every day where you meet a Karen in its natural habitat. My recommendation for you - if you absolutely must stop by to taste their wines, get in, and get out. Don't linger, don't stay, and don't try to enjoy yourselves. We made that mistake of staying a bit outside to enjoy a picnic. In addition to the tasting sets, we also had non-alcoholic drinks for those who prefer not to drink. We got permission from the lady at the counter. The drinks were on the table - yes, there was a sign to not bring in outside drinks, but we got an okay. The owner stopped by and said hi, said nothing about the drinks. The counter lady stopped by and said nothing. Then, out of nowhere, this KAREN emerged and started berating us. Literally came up to our table, grabbed a bottle, and started wildly gesturing while chastising us for being blind. Too bad this wasn't a plane... wish it was because she would either be fined or tackled. So of course we apologized and left the premises immediately. So much for customer service. The one star is for the elderly Greek gentleman who made the pastries and dips that we ordered. They were tasty. Still didn't take away the bad taste that was left in our mouths when we left this place.

Today was our first visit to the Maragas Winery tasting room at the winery location in Culver. When Maragas had a tasting room in Bend we went there when M Bar - Taverna was open (now closed) but just had not made the 40 minute or so drive to Culver to the winery itself. After today's experience, we regret that it took us so long to make the short drive. To Yeeps and other Peeps, we say if you're in the area, go here for a delightful experience. AMBIANCE: Gorgeous setting, nice patio in the back to take in the view, great "wine worthy" music on the sound system (music is a passion of the owners and it will show up in some wine labels and names too) and friendly people working in the tasting room. And here is perhaps the best part, the tasting room is in the barrel room! We love it when we walk into a tasting room and can smell the aroma of wines in barrel. Back in the day when we were spending a lot of time in Napa, this used to be the way in small wineries there. We think it adds a special dimension to a tasting room visit. The owners live at the winery location, so you may get to meet them, as when Doug Maragas (such a nice guy) popped into the tasting room today and thanked those of us enjoying his wine at the tasting bar for coming in. TASTING SET UP AND WINES: Tasting set up is four pours for $5, refunded with purchase. We enjoyed the 2006 Swinging Zin ($25), 2008 Poetic Pinot Gris ($20) and both Muscats (2009 Muscat Love - $20 - and 2009 Kool Kat Muscat - $25). The big surprise of the day for us, was the summer rosy-opal colored Sangria which was refreshing and bright with a hint of cookie spice (cinnamon? cardamom?). If you buy that (we did $20) they soft cork a bottle. Which means keep the Sangria in the fridge and drink it within ten days or so, said Sheri (the charming tasting room hostess). No worries for us....that lovely bottle of Sangria won't last more than 48 hours at our house Just right for warm summer patio sipping. THIS N THAT: 1) There is seating in the well chilled tasting room as well as on the outside patio, both under cover from sun and in full sun to suit your preference. 2) If you take your canine family members here, they need to stay in your vehicle per posted signs. There are beautiful chickens roaming about and cats on prem too (sadly the lovely Chloe mascot dog passed away last year) so visitors' dogs are not a good fit here. 3) For folks who consider accessibility for wine drinkers using wheelchairs or canes or crutches, this is all level in at patio and tasting room with accessible loo too. One spot of paved accessible parking outside. Hard pack cinder parking lot surface should work as rollable surface for most wheelchair and walker and stroller users. 4) Sign up on their email list or Facebook page to stay informed about special events at the winery. (Like the Labor Day Grape Stomp coming up.) 5) They have a few things available as nosh if you want to eat something and sip a glass of wine out on the patio. You are also welcome to bring your own picnic.

I've been driving by this place for a few years now. Usually, it's at the beginning or end of my journey into Redmond and never a convenient time to stop. On this day, however, we made a special trip to try this place. It's cute as you walk in with the wine barrels all around they have various items for sale, t-shirts, corkscrews, etc. We were greeted by Steve, a helpful gentleman behind the counter. Steve explained how the Maragas family got into the wine business. Doug Maragas had been exposed to winemaking at an early age. He went on to go to law school and practice in Portland, Oregon. At the end of a particularly tough and precedent setting case he decided to retire from law and begin winemaking in Central Oregon. They told him he would never be able to grow grapes for wine in Central Oregon which he proved them wrong. In fact, the area from Madras to Bend is now somewhat of a wine country, according to Steve. Although, not yet an AVA, there are many more hoops for that, they have clearly started a trend. We tasted many of their wines $5 will get you a taste of four of the wines on the list. For every two bottles purchased they will refund a tasting. We even met Doug Maragas, briefly and complemented him on his wine. The surrounding area looks to be a fun place to hang out and drink some wine with a view of Smith Rocks in one direction and a view of the Three Sisters Mountains in the other direction. We ended up purchasing a bottle of Pinot Gris, a must try even if you only drink reds. Very fresh and clean and a delightful pairing with fish, chicken or even with your favorite cheese and fruit. The other bottle was Doug's own creation a sangria with a mixture of delightful tastes and is a seasonal purchase. It kind of reminded me of pumpkin pie with all the various spices. Taste that for something different. I enjoyed the Zinfandel as well but I wanted to limit my purchases to two bottles on this day. Located just off Highway 97, it's hard to miss because of the excellent signage. Clearly, Doug has contacted ODOT and obtained their permits and paid the appropriate monies for the blue highway signs which aid in locating this rather ,at first glance, unassuming business. Good job, otherwise, to the casual observer this many appear to be just another farm. Have Steve or one of the other servers put you on the mailing list for additional information on their winery and events. They do have a wine club there but I think I'll just catch them when I'm over there again. It's close to the area I always visit and the experience was so good you know I'll be back.

Great people...the owners, Doug and Gina, are super knowledgeable, love what they do, and are really down to earth. Theirs is a great story, so if they are around when you go visit, ask! As for the wines, you can tell there is a lot of love put into these! Not your typical style-very old world. The whites range from a stunning Pinot Gris to a voluptuous Tootsie, which is a blend and it has a slight blush to it...but don't be shy to try it! The reds will knock your socks off! The Swingin' Zin is a great everyday wine, and will pair with most anything. And the M, well...you should just try it yourself! The tasting room is also their barrel room, so it's very funky, fun, and inviting. PS-their place in Bend is no longer open, but that's ok, because tasting at the winery is much cooler, bigger, and way funky! Also, has a gorgeous view, great patio, and they play awesome Blues!

    Wine flight with appetizers

What a charming winery this is. The wines are excellent and their appetizers are out of this world. The view from their tasting room of the mountains and the grass in their yard Makes for a very enjoyable setting to enjoy your wine tasting. Personnel is very friendly and informative. You're talking to the owner when you're there. Very much worth a few miles from Bend.

Traveling from Portland to Bend, this is a refreshing stop. They keep the whole warehouse/tasting room at cellar temperature. If visiting in the summer, it's nice to get out of the heat. The wine tasting costs $10.00 for 4 one once tastings. So very small tasting amounts. Must purchase 2 bottles of wine to have tasting charge waived. Seemed very expensive for the wines offered, the costs of the wines, the amount poured, and the industry standard is only one bottle purchased waives the tasting charge. Staff told us the name of the wine and no other facts. They do not offer any food. They also do not offer any branded wearables. May wish to keep driving...

Absolutely the most intimate and awesome vineyard I had the pleasure of visiting while on vacation in Oregon. The nice thing was I was able to take some of my family who lives in the area and had never been before! The farm dog was so friendly, the cheese platter delicious, the wine divine and the staff was hilarious and kind. I will definitely be returning and ordering from out of state!

    Amazing trip!
