Crescent Moon Ranch is such a fun and memorable stop! Entry is completely free, and for just $5 you can buy a bag of feed to hand feed the alpacas. You walk through the farm and feed them through the fence with your palm flat. Such a cool experience. The alpacas are absolutely adorable, especially the babies, and there are so many of them. The whole farm is beautiful and very well kept. They also have a wonderful store with a wide selection of alpaca related items, including products made from alpaca fur. Perfect for souvenirs or gifts. Practical details: plenty of parking, friendly staff, porta potties outside with hand washing stations. Everything was easy and convenient. This is definitely a must do in Redmond if you love animals. I highly recommend it!
For all the knitters and fiber artists wondering, YES they have yarn! It's not the biggest selection but if high quality alpaca yarn is your thing, it's worth a visit! Regardless of whether you knit or not, this place is 100% worth stopping at.. Feeding and petting the alpacas is so much fun and you can learn a lot from the informational signs they have along the farm. The bathrooms are porta-potties but they were the cleanest ones I've ever seen. P.S. the customer service is great. The owner told me to give them a call if I run out of yarn and they would ship it out to me if need be!
We saw there was an alpaca ranch in the area and couldn't pass it up! Entry is free and you can buy a bag of feed for $5, such a bargain! They have so many alpacas and I could have spent all day petting and watching them. They have a small gift shop where you can buy some goods and other fun souveniers.
We visited Crescent Moon while visiting Bend over the long weekend. After reading the reviews, I knew this had to be on our bucket list. We were very lucky that the day we visited. They had a new baby. You can purchase a bag of feed and feed everyone but the babies. This was a fun place to go, something to do and there's just something about the calmness of being outside with the presence of animals. We all had a good time.
What a fun way to spend the afternoon! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Crescent Moon. Lovely, well-cared for ranch. Got to feed so many alpacas while learning about them and their fiber. This is an excellent stop no matter your age. Be sure to buy some feed at the gift shop before you head out to see the alpacas.
Awesome stop on our way back into Bend after hiking in Terrebonne. No admission required. You buy feed, $5 per bag, in the Boutique, then head out on the walking paths around the property. There are many alpacas to feed. They're super friendly. At the end of the walking path there are restrooms and hand washing station available. The Boutique has quite a variety of gifts, from alpaca fiber items (i.e. blankets, shawls, vests, sweaters, socks, gloves, etc) to local soaps, lotions and lip balms. They also have a lot of alpaca novelty items...coffee cups, stuffed animals, etc. Very cool gift shop...there's something for everyone! Overall a delightful stop. Would highly recommend.
The BEST Alpaca Ranch!! If you love animals, you absolutely have to visit this heavenly place! I am so very happy we stopped at this beautiful alpaca oasis, right off of Hwy 97! Thank you Debbie and Scott for providing such a serene and vast home for your Alpacas. It was a pleasure to meet you and these gentle animals! We appreciate the opportunity to explore and walk on your grounds! The Ranch has easy to understand signs and directions, an impressive Boutique, with an abundance of merchandise and small bags of feed to purchase before you can head out and meet their Champion Alpacas! They provide a wonderland of strategically fenced areas where their Alpacas roam free, happily coming up to the fence line where you can greet them, gently pet them, and give them a treat!
I drive by this place so much for my work travels and have had it on my list for a while, enjoyed it. A great little stop for the family or to take a break outside of Bend. You have the opportunity to purchase grain to feed the alpacas at the fence line; many are waiting there for their treats. Make sure to feed with your fingers flat and palm up. These alpacas had friendly faces plus their silly, grazing teeth to giggle at. The crias (baby alpacas) were so playful! I would also say the grass was so well-maintained that even in the summer heat, you can tell a dramatic temperature drop when stepping onto the healthy, cool grass throughout the walking paths as they had sprinklers running non-stop. The gift store has a lot of stylish options to choose from and alpaca wool is so much softer than sheep wool! Come with a healthy budget if you would like to buy the wool textiles (socks, sweaters, ponchos, beanies, etc), such good-quality materials that take so much time to grow and harvest will cost you what it's worth. Free, gravel parking. Clean porto-potties plus hand washing stations.
LOVE. This was sun a fun experience! We were headed from Bend to Portland earlier this month when we past this farm. We almost kept driving but decided to turn around and check it out, and we were so happy we did! I could have spent hours here, but we were on a bit of a schedule so settled for just 1. We paid the $5 for a bag of food in the shop and then went out to all of the different fields. Some of the alpacas were a little more eager for food than others, but they were all friendly and gentle. There are so many alpacas with all different colors and lots of babies too! After you're done, you can follow the path to a few well-maintained port a potties with a nice handwashing station before dropping your empty feed bag back inside. I've been to a couple other types of farms but something about Crescent Moon puts it on another level. We left feeling like we were on Cloud 9.
I was so happy I stopped here on my way out of Tahoe. The ranch was much bigger than I was expecting, and with the dark storm clouds and light shining through on the grass, as water flowed through the property, it looked almost unreal how beautiful it was. The parking is free, and so is walking through the path they have created for visitors. They have porta potties that they keep very clean and a hand wash station as well. Some people seem upset by the price of the feed, which is 5 dollars per bag. However, when you consider how this is your only cost, and you could easily make a bag of two last per person the whole way through, this is a wonderful and low cost experience. When the alpacas eat from your hand it's like little kisses. The path circles all the way back to the other side of the barn so just keep that in mind with how you meter out your feed you have. I also want to add that gifts shops can often be cheesy with low quality merchandise, however I found theirs was filled with thoughtfully curated items. There were many timeless, high quality, and unique pieces. The people running the shop were also super nice, and had a very sweet service dog that hangs out by the register.

Stumbled upon this alpaca farm on our way to Bend. We just had to pull over! Go to the gift shop to get a bag of $5 feed and you are free to roam the farm and feed the alpacas! Such an amazing price for a really memorable experience. Grounds are incredibly clean and well maintained. The alpacas were very friendly and gentle.
It's free to walk around. You can buy a bag of feed for $5. Be careful if they start fighting over food because they might start spitting. There are ice cream bars for only $2.
Hey, I don't know that there's anything much greater in life than spending time with an alpaca. Now multiply that by, like, 2,000, and you've got an idea of how worthwhile a visit to Crescent Moon Ranch is. Or at least if you agree with my baseline assumption that alpacas are maybe one of the greatest things to ever exist. Okay, perhaps I'm being a little overzealous about the alpacas. But seriously, this is a really fun way to spend an hour or two, and it doesn't cost much. There's a cute little store where you can buy all manner of alpaca-related merchandise. You know like sweaters, hats, stuffed alpacas, magnets, dish towels, alpaca-scented candles, or whatever the hell they sell in little stores like this. It's fun to browse, but the real attraction is outside. Walk up to the counter, throw down five bucks, and they'll give you a Ziplock baggie full of little alfalfa nuggets. Then you head outside and walk next to the nine huge pens full of alpacas and feed those little bastards. And it's hilarious. They're cute in their own weird way, and they'll come right up to the fence and eat straight out of your hand. Their crazy prehensile lips take some getting used to, but keep your hand flat and they won't accidentally take a finger with the alfalfa. They're actually remarkably gentle. Although some of them are total pigs. Those are my favorites. They'll follow you around, shove the other alpacas out of the way, and basically behave like they've been waiting all day for you to show up with a Ziplock bag full of snacks. Eventually you start noticing that they all have different personalities, which somehow makes the whole thing even more entertaining. My gosh. Best five dollars I've ever spent. I took my 20 year old daughter and she had an absolute blast. It was just something we did to kill some time while we were up visiting Crooked River, but it ended up becoming one of those unexpectedly great little memories from the trip. So yeah, highly recommended. Go check them out. Give them some money. Support the ranch. And enjoy the alpacas, you crazy person. read more
Well, I think this third year in a row, making this a ritual when traveling central organ. This time we didn't even have our kids with us. They have so many of these funny little critters that every time we've come there, there's been one born on the same day and you get to go enjoy a wild ride of life that these things have. Imagine being dropped into the world and then within an hour you're expected to walk and keep up with your adult. My teenager can barely handle that and oddly enough. I think they have the same haircut if you know you know. It's free they make so much money off breeding and selling that they don't even try and get money out of you or donations. You can always grab a Ziploc of food and it's cheap and just amazing. I think about the hat I should've bought here. It was on the expensive end and I probably was never gonna wear it, but I still think I should've bought that hundred percent alpaca hat. Until next time. read more

We randomly past by this and we knew we needed to make a stop! The parking lot was a good size, but it gets pretty full. We made a stop into the boutique for alpaca feed ($5/bag) and made our way to the path. The lady in the store gave us helpful tips in regards to feeding the alpacas and also that there were 2 babies born the previous day. There's plenty of alpacas around in different areas. Not all of them come to the gate, but there's always plenty that you can feed. We were able to find open spaces to feed our own alpacas even with lots of others around. Make sure you save some feed for the end where lots of lots of alpacas awaits you. It was a wonderful experience and make sure you pay the boutique visit for cute alpaca/llama gifts. read more

If you're in or around the area of this ranch you HAVE TO stop here. When they are open your allowed to walk around for free and just look at the alpacas. They have the cutest little store with tons of handmade and special alpaca items. If you go inside the store you can buy a bag of alpaca grain and walk through the areas and hand feed them. It was so much fun and so magical. When we went in February there were brand new babies that were too cute for words. I got to gently pet a few of them as they ate from my hands! It was so a joyful and wholesome experience. The owners of the farm were so nice to us and so helpful. Anytime I go through again I will stop. The alpacas are so interested in people and they are just a blast. read more
My brother took me here on the way to Portland... This will be the worst review I've ever done bc I STILL have no words for the level of joy Crescent Moon Ranch brought me. Before I got out of the truck, I was almost sobbing from being overwhelmed by serotonin... seriously. Basically there are HUNDREDS of the sweetest Alpacas, and baby Alpacas (like, there was a pen with mama's & babies born THAT DAY (this was May 24th when I was there!!). You can visit them for free, but you can get a bag of snacks to feed them for $5 & become immediately popular with all the mama's. Yes, I sobbed the entire time. Only a field of REAL LIVE ACTUAL UNICORNS would make me happier. Cute gift ship that I bought souvenirs from & the owner was awesome. read more
Drove by here so many times & didn't stop. When we finally did pull over we were beyond pleased with the experience. 5$ for a baggie of food to feed the incredibly cute & silly llama's. There's also a small store with some snacks , water and souvenirs. We had a blast feeding the llamas and I would definitely return to stretch my legs and get some cute pictures. read more
Such a cute farm with adorable alpacas. There were plenty of babies, about 2 weeks old, at the beginning of April. Cute and so soft!!! They do a good job with a walking path around the pastures. The boutique is small and the owner is very friendly. To feed the alpacas you pay $5 for a small baggie of alfalfa chips... wow, that's too steep! I so appreciated it that there were porta potties and hand washing stations available. Great place to spend an hour or so when you find yourself around Redmond. read more

This place is just so fun!! The alpacas are so freaking cute and the boutique has so many fun things for purchase. Spent a good hour there feeding the alpacas and looking around. All I can say is "WOWWWWW"! The owner Debbie greeted us as they were closing. I was under the impression that they were open till 5pm & had brought friends over from out of state. Sadly, they closed at 4pm. Debbie quickly came to the rescue & offered for us to feed the alpacas & view them while they were being put into their barns for the evening. We had a blast & didn't want to leave. Debbie was super knowledgeable, accommodating & invited us back for a longer stay. Her hospitality was over the top! Their farm is top notch, clean & they invited us to be part of their nightly stampede as the alpacas went to their barns. I cannot stress enough how much this made our friends trip! Thank you for going above & beyond. We will be back for sure. This is why we LOVE living in Central Oregon!!! read more
If I could give double the stars I would! This alpaca ranch is all that it advertise to me ... and more! There's plenty of parking and, after you've checked in to the gift shop to buy your alpaca food (yes, it's completely worth the five bucks) there is a clearly marked walking path that takes you all around the multiple alpaca enclosures. We couldn't get enough and went back the next day on our way out of town. Our 18-year old son said it was the highlight of his trip and the best therapy. We absolutely loved it! read more

This place is so perfect. You pay five bucks for a bag of feed and then walk along the fences. Alpacas who want food come up to you and take food from your hand super gently. Some of them even let you pet the tufts on their heads! There is almost no way to feel unhappy with a nice alpaca engagement. A+++ would buy again. read more

This review is for the boutique. Oh I love this store. Baby alpaca yarn , clothes and other great soft, touchy feely yummy items. If you love quality, sumptuously soft, beautifully made clothing then stop by this little boutique. I picked up baby alpaca yarn, fingerless gloves and a few pair of super soft and warm socks. However, honestly, I wanted to take just about everything in this charming shoppe home. Everything is made from either baby alpaca or alpaca yarn. Alpacas are like sheep, they are sheered for their fiber, no baby alpacas are harmed for those super soft socks. read more

SOLID VISIT. When we came across this ranch on the side of the road, we pulled a hard left and had to check it out. The property is much larger than what I have posted in the photos--- because there are different pens of alpacas everywhere! I bought on bag of food for $3 and spent time around feeding and taking cute pics with my new furry best friends. (Note: you can get two bags for $5, I just only wanted one!) The alpacas will just walk up to you, ready for feeding. Absolute best unplanned side trip! YOU MUST VISIT. Support Crescent Moon Ranch!!! read more

Don't miss this unique, fun and special stop! Right off Hwy 97, it's easy to get to and worth every minute. Self-guided tours take you around the beautiful property, up close and personal with the animals. Check out the beautiful alpaca items in the store and pick up a pair of socks at the very least. They are THE BEST! read more

Sometimes timing is everything. And I can't imagine having a better experience visiting the Crescent Moon Ranch. Unfortunately, I probably can't arrange the same sequence of events for other visitors, or can I? We were taking a scenic drive in the country after visiting Long Hollow Ranch for a trail ride. Then the combination of a field of wildflowers in front of hundreds of alpacas and the realization that there was a boutique on-site made me hit the breaks. We were the only visitors and just as we pulled up, the owner, Diane, came out and asked if we wanted to watch a birth. Of course! While we waited for the dam (mother) to give birth to her first cria (baby), she happily told us about the ranch, her herd and the birthing process. What struck me most was the absolute joy and affection she had towards the animals. The alpacas would approach and nuzzle her like a golden retriever. We were in the "maternity ward" and we were surrounded by mommies and babies nibbling grass with the Three Sisters mountains as their backdrop. The birthing season is from February to September, so summer is a great time to visit. After being blown away by the birthing process (surprisingly neat and nonchalant), we walked to the next field, which has the frisky juvenile alpacas (six months and up). The dads, herdsires, are in another field. Even if you aren't fortunate enough to have the owner take you on a personal tour, there is a posted Walking Tour through the property. They have a store in downtown Bend and a boutique at the ranch. Sweaters, coats, mittens, hats, etc. are all there, but be advised that items made from alpaca are expensive. The labels say "Made in Peru," so presumably they ship their alpaca wool to Peru so the garments can be manufactured and shipped back for sale. No pressured sales pitch, just a great time with someone passionate about their business in a beautiful setting. read more
