Well, I think this third year in a row, making this a ritual when traveling central organ. This time we didn't even have our kids with us. They have so many of these funny little critters that every time we've come there, there's been one born on the same day and you get to go enjoy a wild ride of life that these things have. Imagine being dropped into the world and then within an hour you're expected to walk and keep up with your adult. My teenager can barely handle that and oddly enough. I think they have the same haircut if you know you know. It's free they make so much money off breeding and selling that they don't even try and get money out of you or donations. You can always grab a Ziploc of food and it's cheap and just amazing. I think about the hat I should've bought here. The whole farm is beautiful and very well kept. They also have a wonderful store with a wide selection of alpaca related items, including products made from alpaca fur. Drove past this spot during a bachelorette trip to Bend and my girls knew we were absolutely going to stop here for some fun. I adore alpacas and could not resist! We came by on a Sunday around noon and were able to frolic with aka feed some friendly, happy looking alpacas! You can buy the feed inside though they very kindly gave me a bag for free for being the bride to be. There are also other alpaca goods like socks which you best believe I bought! The ranch itself is inviting, green, beautiful on a sunny day and there's a good amount of space to walk around and feed the alpaca buddies. Awesome stop on our way back into Bend after hiking in Terrebonne. No admission required. You buy feed, $5 per bag, in the Boutique, then head out on the walking paths around the property. There are many alpacas to feed. They're super friendly. At the end of the walking path there are restrooms and hand washing station available. The Boutique has quite a variety of gifts, from alpaca fiber items (i.e. blankets, shawls, vests, sweaters, socks, gloves, etc) to local soaps, lotions and lip balms. They also have a lot of alpaca novelty items...coffee cups, stuffed animals, etc. Very cool gift shop...there's something for everyone! Overall a delightful stop. Would highly recommend. read more

LOVE. This was sun a fun experience! We were headed from Bend to Portland earlier this month when we past this farm. We almost kept driving but decided to turn around and check it out, and we were so happy we did! I could have spent hours here, but we were on a bit of a schedule so settled for just 1. We paid the $5 for a bag of food in the shop and then went out to all of the different fields. Some of the alpacas were a little more eager for food than others, but they were all friendly and gentle. There are so many alpacas with all different colors and lots of babies too! After you're done, you can follow the path to a few well-maintained port a potties with a nice handwashing station before dropping your empty feed bag back inside. I've been to a couple other types of farms but something about Crescent Moon puts it on another level. We left feeling like we were on Cloud 9. read more

I drive by this place so much for my work travels and have had it on my list for a while, enjoyed it. A great little stop for the family or to take a break outside of Bend. You have the opportunity to purchase grain to feed the alpacas at the fence line; many are waiting there for their treats. Make sure to feed with your fingers flat and palm up. These alpacas had friendly faces plus their silly, grazing teeth to giggle at. The crias (baby alpacas) were so playful! I would also say the grass was so well-maintained that even in the summer heat, you can tell a dramatic temperature drop when stepping onto the healthy, cool grass throughout the walking paths as they had sprinklers running non-stop. The gift store has a lot of stylish options to choose from and alpaca wool is so much softer than sheep wool! Come with a healthy budget if you would like to buy the wool textiles (socks, sweaters, ponchos, beanies, etc), such good-quality materials that take so much time to grow and harvest will cost you what it's worth. I was so happy I stopped here on my way out of Tahoe. The ranch was much bigger than I was expecting, and with the dark storm clouds and light shining through on the grass, as water flowed through the property, it looked almost unreal how beautiful it was. The parking is free, and so is walking through the path they have created for visitors. They have porta potties that they keep very clean and a hand wash station as well. Some people seem upset by the price of the feed, which is 5 dollars per bag. However, when you consider how this is your only cost, and you could easily make a bag of two last per person the whole way through, this is a wonderful and low cost experience. When the alpacas eat from your hand it's like little kisses. The path circles all the way back to the other side of the barn so just keep that in mind with how you meter out your feed you have. I also want to add that gifts shops can often be cheesy with low quality merchandise, however I found theirs was filled with thoughtfully curated items. There were many timeless, high quality, and unique pieces. The people running the shop were also super nice, and had a very sweet service dog that hangs out by the register. read more

We randomly past by this and we knew we needed to make a stop! The parking lot was a good size, but it gets pretty full. We made a stop into the boutique for alpaca feed ($5/bag) and made our way to the path. The lady in the store gave us helpful tips in regards to feeding the alpacas and also that there were 2 babies born the previous day. There's plenty of alpacas around in different areas. Not all of them come to the gate, but there's always plenty that you can feed. We were able to find open spaces to feed our own alpacas even with lots of others around. Make sure you save some feed for the end where lots of lots of alpacas awaits you. It was a wonderful experience and make sure you pay the boutique visit for cute alpaca/llama gifts. read more

If you're in or around the area of this ranch you HAVE TO stop here. When they are open your allowed to walk around for free and just look at the alpacas. They have the cutest little store with tons of handmade and special alpaca items. If you go inside the store you can buy a bag of alpaca grain and walk through the areas and hand feed them. It was so much fun and so magical. When we went in February there were brand new babies that were too cute for words. I got to gently pet a few of them as they ate from my hands! It was so a joyful and wholesome experience. The owners of the farm were so nice to us and so helpful. Anytime I go through again I will stop. My brother took me here on the way to Portland... This will be the worst review I've ever done bc I STILL have no words for the level of joy Crescent Moon Ranch brought me. Before I got out of the truck, I was almost sobbing from being overwhelmed by serotonin... seriously. Basically there are HUNDREDS of the sweetest Alpacas, and baby Alpacas (like, there was a pen with mama's & babies born THAT DAY (this was May 24th when I was there!!). You can visit them for free, but you can get a bag of snacks to feed them for $5 & become immediately popular with all the mama's. Yes, I sobbed the entire time. All I can say is "WOWWWWW"! The owner Debbie greeted us as they were closing. I was under the impression that they were open till 5pm & had brought friends over from out of state. Sadly, they closed at 4pm. Debbie quickly came to the rescue & offered for us to feed the alpacas & view them while they were being put into their barns for the evening. We had a blast & didn't want to leave. Debbie was super knowledgeable, accommodating & invited us back for a longer stay. Her hospitality was over the top! Their farm is top notch, clean & they invited us to be part of their nightly stampede as the alpacas went to their barns. I cannot stress enough how much this made our friends trip! This place is so perfect. You pay five bucks for a bag of feed and then walk along the fences. Alpacas who want food come up to you and take food from your hand super gently. If I could give double the stars I would! This alpaca ranch is all that it advertise to me ... and more! There's plenty of parking and, after you've checked in to the gift shop to buy your alpaca food (yes, it's completely worth the five bucks) there is a clearly marked walking path that takes you all around the multiple alpaca enclosures. We were visiting Bend and heard about this place from a friend. I had no idea I would fall in love with the alpacas. We first stopped into the boutique to buy the feed ($5/bag). The lady at the register is the owner and was so lovely! We went on a solo walk, feeding allll the babies. They just come to you and eat right out of your hand! Very Covid safe, as it's all outside and plenty of alpacas to go around. The photos I have are truly priceless. Ended the trip by buying an alpaca ornament for my tree (made out of real alpaca!). If you love quality, sumptuously soft, beautifully made clothing then stop by this little boutique. I picked up baby alpaca yarn, fingerless gloves and a few pair of super soft and warm socks. However, honestly, I wanted to take just about everything in this charming shoppe home. Everything is made from either baby alpaca or alpaca yarn. The property is much larger than what I have posted in the photos--- because there are different pens of alpacas everywhere! Sometimes timing is everything. And I can't imagine having a better experience visiting the Crescent Moon Ranch. Unfortunately, I probably can't arrange the same sequence of events for other visitors, or can I? We were taking a scenic drive in the country after visiting Long Hollow Ranch for a trail ride. Then the combination of a field of wildflowers in front of hundreds of alpacas and the realization that there was a boutique on-site made me hit the breaks. We were the only visitors and just as we pulled up, the owner, Diane, came out and asked if we wanted to watch a birth. Of course! While we waited for the dam (mother) to give birth to her first cria (baby), she happily told us about the ranch, her herd and the birthing process. What struck me most was the absolute joy and affection she had towards the animals. The alpacas would approach and nuzzle her like a golden retriever. We were in the "maternity ward" and we were surrounded by mommies and babies nibbling grass with the Three Sisters mountains as their backdrop. The birthing season is from February to September, so summer is a great time to visit. After being blown away by the birthing process (surprisingly neat and nonchalant), we walked to the next field, which has the frisky juvenile alpacas (six months and up). The dads, herdsires, are in another field. Even if you aren't fortunate enough to have the owner take you on a personal tour, there is a posted Walking Tour through the property. They have a store in downtown Bend and a boutique at the ranch. Sweaters, coats, mittens, hats, etc. are all there, but be advised that items made from alpaca are expensive. The labels say "Made in Peru," so presumably they ship their alpaca wool to Peru so the garments can be manufactured and shipped back for sale. No pressured sales pitch, just a great time with someone passionate about their business in a beautiful setting. read more

The Alpacas where so friendly and nice. We just missed a baby being born by 3 hours, but were able to see the baby being fed by bottle. The owner/employees were so kind as to make arrangements for our dog, as it was 90°+. Dogs can't be near the Alpacas, but a parking spot was made available to allow our dog to stay cool. Our kids loved feeding the Alpacas and picking up souvenirs in the boutique store filled with everything Alpaca. The is our second time coming here and it's becoming one of our family favorites when passing through. read more
