Absolute nightmare to deal with. Set up an appointment and received confirmation for said appointment just to arrive and have them tell me they are closed and I can reschedule another time (didn't offer to reschedule for me). I was told even if they were open, they wouldn't fix my AC as they are "backed up" even though there is a lawsuit against Honda for selling 2018 Civics with air conditioning malfunctions. I was never made aware of this and I JUST purchased the vehicle. It passed "inspection" and I immediately noticed the AC no longer works. Since it has been early in the year, there was no need for AC so I never thought to even check but now that it is 100+ degrees, I feel it is a hazard to my health to even drive the car. i drove all the way there just to be told they would not to anything - not even an oil change to compensate me for the time I spent driving there and the fact that it was THEIR error to begin with. An oil change would take 15-20 max and could have been done as a courtesy (and I fully expected to still pay for the service) OR, they could have checked my warranty and given me a loaner car until they could fix the issues. I could not believe I was speaking with the manager of the department, John Pagliocco. He pulled up my appointment and basically said whoops we should have called you. in addition, there is a huge sign outside the garage listing 8pm as the closing time which, for god knows what reason, they just never took down. This place needs some serious training in customer service and wouldnt even offer a discount if I decided to reschedule (obviously they lost my money for the oil change, but I have to have my AC fixed by them due to said class action lawsuit so I can be reimbursed by Honda for any costs). I think it is criminal that I was not advised of this defect when buying the car and was given a full inspection and everything was perfect. Now I feel I need a second opinion on that. Overall, not a trustworthy company. Ever since I leased my vehicle, it has been nothing but horrible experiences. My pushy sales person even had the nerve to tell me to rate him 10/10 when he pressured me and said I basically have no other choice unless I want to pay to switch to a new company ($500) and guaranteed me a monthly price that was not even close to what I received. I have been dealing with them for years now and it never ceased to amaze me how unprofessional, rude, and pushy ALL the employeesi tho I thought I would finally be done with them after buying my lease out (could not stand the thought of leasing from them again), however, it seems like I'll still be dealing with them for a while unfortunately. read more

We purchased our honda from Open Road Honda in Edison, NJ and used to get our regular servicing done at the same dealership. But he customers service was just awful, rude staff, not explaining thins while charging for new parts or services. The overall experience was just terrible. A colleague recommended Madison Honda and we decided to give it a try. The staff is very friendly and courteous. They always give you good info on car health maintenance and take their time to explain things. This is not a gigantic dealership, but the great service center staff very much makes up for the small dealership. There is a TV screen that shows you your place in the queue and estimated time of completion of the servicing. The beverage and snack section is also neat. My colleague has a very good experience in purchasing a used accord and did not feel harangued by the sales staff. we have been there for all our car issues and have been satisfied. read more

Just a review of service experience. The boss's car needed recall work and I had a coupon towards an oil change. Dan C. wrote up the service ticket in no time, accepted our $10 off deal gracefully and didn't try to sell us anything extra, just sent us on our way. Two hours later he called to say that the work was done but the brake pads were thinner than 4mm and in need of love. He didn't seem to be the slightest bit offended when I told him I value my loyalty to my neighborhood mechanic and declined. That $24.95 oil change deal becomes $31 after haz waste fee & tax. We went to Madison Honda based on the recommendations of person on a Facebook parents group. We dealt with Dave Garcia (HondaguyDave) and he was great. At first we thought about leasing, went through the negotiations and everything, the car was going to be ready the next day so we didn't sign the contract. Well overnight we starting really thinking it over and decided against the lease (mainly because we're going to hold onto the car for more than 3 years), so I texted Dave the next day and told him not to move forward with the lease. I explained to him why and he was very patient, not annoyed at all that we had taken 2 hours of his time the day before. We told him what we wanted and he worked with us to get a certified pre-owned 2016 Honda Pilot, which was $500 below the KBB value. The financing department was even able to secure us a loan 1% lower than the loan we secured, so it was really a positive experience. Of course, they tried to sell us some extras that we turned down but they were completely cool about it. UPDATE - A week after we got the Pilot, we went on a road trip to VA. My husband wanted to put in a DVD for the kids. As the DVD player opened he noticed that the screen wasn't attached on the left hand side, in other words it was coming off the hinges. The next day I call our sales guy, we play phone tag a bit and when we finally talked he said to call the service department. They didn't have a courtesy car to lend me until yesterday so I finally took it in. I remind them that this happened about a week after we got the car. A little while later, I get a phone call from the Sales Manager saying that the screen had been pulled and that's why it came off the hinges. I said, nope. No one pulled that screen, not my kids (in case that was he was implying) and definitely not my 50 year old husband (he's old enough to be careful with things). Sales manager says they'll look into it further. I get another call later on from the Service Director, same thing it was pulled and that's why the hinge is broken. Furthermore, IT WILL COST $1500 TO REPLACE. Well I guess, I know now why it was below the KBB value. I bet the DVD player was coming of the hinge to begin and they half-assed fixed it so it wouldn't be obvious. We thought that because the car was Honda Certified that everything was fine and in working order with the car, clearly we were wrong. I'm due to return the courtesy car today, I hope they step up to the plate and offer a reasonable solution but I'm not holding my breath for one. Clearly, I wouldn't never do business with them or recommend them if they don't fix the player. FINAL RESOLUTION: My wife picked up the car. They offered to replace it for $750 instead of $1500 but I refused as the unit was damaged when we got it. I also never got a response from Dave Garcia to my voicemail or email. Unprofessional. Sales person competent enough. I received a fair deal on my trade and certified vehicle but that's where the level of service stopped. Paperwork seemed to be a nightmare, I came back twice to get that done right. The driver key 1 was missing in the used car and I was promised it several times this week. I'm still trying to call everyone there trying to figure out where it is. Left hand doesn't know what the right one is doing. Dealership was recommend to me by an acquaintance but I will not be recommending based on my experience over the last 2 weeks. Maybe it's a typical car buying experience but I don't recall this disorganization in two prior vehicles I've purchased. Update: after a week and one day owning this vehicle finally got ahold of sales manager. Honda makes excellent automobiles (though not as comparatively excellent as they once were). This has led to a body of dealerships that have never had to excel at providing either a pleasant buying experience or decent service departments. Madison Honda is a great example of this phenomena at work: uncouth, type A minus, low-brow salesmen (in the worst traditions of car salesmen), high-pressure tactics and an attitude of "we have what you want, so do a deal right now or get out". It's unpleasant from the second you walk in and, frankly, not only did I not buy a Honda Pilot, I won't buy another Honda again. Which is too bad for Honda, since it wasn't a product fault, but a customer experience problem with a franchise operation (the franchise protection laws need to go away). Longer term, this will pose problems for Honda because, while they still make great vehicles, the industry no longer sufferers from the great disparity of quality that existed 20-30 years ago. They aren't the stand-out products they once were. Customer's don't need to put up with crummy sales and service experience to get a good car anymore - and other brands don't have this problem (and certainly not to this extreme). read more

As if the undisclosed 10% dealer mark-up over MSRP wasn't enough they just charged me an additional 25 dollars when I went to pick up my license plates. Since they already charged me the dealer car registration fees built into the purchase contract this came as a surprise. Their explanation was "we had to add another name to the lien on the title". As this was financed through Honda Financial it clearly makes no sense. When asked what additional name was added to the title they had no explanation but would not release my license plates without the additional $25. read more

I need to write a second review about the wonderful Madison Honda organization. I just took my Honda Fit in for a light sensor on at $142,000. Brad Mortar was my service coordinator.I noticed that my windshield wiper was hitting on evenly, without me asking and shared that he wanted to check the windshield transmission system, which was done with no charge. Minor adjustment in my windshield was corrected, at no charge. I have such confidence in their professionalism and Brad was caring, attentive and listened well to any concerns I had. They are so lucky to have him and I always feel lucky to be able to take my car here. Great place! Clicked the "message" button to inquire about a new CRV I saw online. Stacey replied and initially all went well. I then receive an email from Kris representing as a sales manager and advising he could assist. I told him I had a quote for a certain price from another dealership and asked if they could match since their dealership was more conveniently located. Kris said absolutely. I asked for a written quote providing the VIN and the terms we agreed upon. Nothing came. I asked again the following day and was told it would be on its way first thing....again, nothing. I inquired for a third time, got another list of excuses but was promised it would be on its way immediately. NOTHING. I'm now concerned because the financing offer I was interested in is set to expire, so I reach out one final time. Remember, all I am asking for is the VIN and a written quote of the terms we negotiated which was to include certain accessory adds. Kris tells me he isn't in and to reach out to Stacy who will take care of everything. I reach out to Stacey and I'm told "Kris no longer works here.... what can I help you with" --- seriously? Days worth of the run-around, when I could have gone to the other dealership to take advantage of the finance offer there. I'm so disgusted I may not even buy Honda again (and I have owned a Honda for 2 decades). This dealership is a mess, at least they were with me. Zero customer service. Lots of run-around. Comes back and reneges on the first item (arguing that truecar.com was wrong because he has been doing this for blah blah many years and sold hundreds of them and he knows (as evidenced by his self-promoting billboard). We let that go and said ok nevermind, but where is the $200 referral fee you said you give to 'every customer' who refers a new one...lol..."knocking on people's door to get them their referral fee." The friendly receptionist told me that they performed the kind of service I needed on my Honda van, and she said no appointment was needed because it was minor. When I went to pick up my car, I had a chance to walk through the whole dealership. Super clean, and obviously well organized, almost to the point of overboard. But you really can't be too organized. Not trustworthy. I like my new car but a few things make me regret buying here as opposed to another dealership. One was the warranty we negotiated up to 100,000 mile to match other dealer but spending a few hours here and finally getting into the little signing room- we heard new caveat that we'd have sizable deduction before we could have warranty honored. I'm sure the delays are part of the whole wear you down strategy. 2. We were offered $ 1,000 for a trade in but told them we needed to get a new title from out of state. Unfortunately this took us a few months. We came back in and were only offered $800 and bullshit excuses . Yes we regretted taking a long time but decreasing value by %20 for a couple months is ridiculous. We really came down to a couple factors tipping the scale of us voting here vs. the Subaru dealership and once trade in and warranty was matched, we chose here. There are a few things I like about Madison Honda. But good snacks and coffee's are a poor substitute for reasonably priced auto repair. Honda's V6 engine is infamous for oil fouled spark plugs. There is even a class action judgement against Honda over this very issue. Nevertheless, Madison Honda found it necessary to soak me $500. to replace 6 spark plugs. This review is for maintenance and recall. I came here to fix the recalls on my pilot. I called ahead and was told they have the parts. Made an appointment and arrived on time (a Saturday). The service includes 2 recalls, oil change and tire rotation. I waited for more than 5 hours. Then I was told one recall was not done due to no parts. This contradicts with what I was told before the appointment. It also puzzles me why it took me 5 hours then? Not only that, I was told my TPMS was bad because the check light is on. The quote to fix it is something around $2k. I know the check light issue, it requires a reset, not a part issue. I left the dealership very disappointed. read more

We had an appointment here today to browse cars and possibly test drive one. A sales agent greeted us and asked us to sit down. We said we were not interested in buying today but only browsing. The sales agent said they could show us one car, but it was too busy to go through the different options in detail and that they were too busy to offer us a test drive. When I said maybe we should try a different Honda dealership, they said they would get someone else to help us. Someone else came up, asked why we were there, and then promptly said they were unavailable. After being quite floored by the experience (we had an appointment to browse and test drive but no one was willing to help us), we walked out. One of the sales managers came out afterwards to apologize, which we appreciated. Before choosing Madison Honda, I went to two other dealerships and had the typical car buying experience - the back and forth, the 'best' offer only once you've put your coat on to leave... Once I got to Madison Honda, I met with Rich Giordano and was pleasantly surprised by his straightforward, matter of fact approach. Not only was there minimal negotiating, but Rich gave me a better price than either of the other dealerships. He clearly walked through all the associated charges and fees so that there wasn't anything unexpected. When I came back to pick up my car, Rich was very thorough when explaining all the features of my new vehicle. I sat with Al Rico to review financing and warranty options. He was extremely personable and patient. I was very comfortable and didn't feel pressured into upgrading to a warranty that I didn't want. This review is for the service center. Went to Madison Honda with an irregularly idling engine and was told it was a problem with the purge valve. During repairs the technician said the water pump and drive belt needed replacing as well: quoted price for everything was nearly $3,000. When I balked and said I'd have to get a second opinion the tech discovered a "billing error" and said it would only be $2,000 (sketchy). Also asked them to replace the wiper blades, which they charged me for but didn't do. Workmanship on the engine was fine and car runs well again but the service staff are sloppy. read more

Beware of Madison Honda service -- they over charge! I had a stater replaced and was charged $1111.20. I called two other Honda dealers and they quoted $823 and $849 for the same repair. I would have gone to another dealer but they already had the car and I needed it the next day for a trip. Also, the next morning after the repair, my tire low pressure warning light went on. When I checked the pressures the rears were 23psi, and the fronts 24 and 26 psi. The vehicle inspection report showed the tires as being inflated to 32 psi -- obviously they did not check the tires. I have been a customer of Madison Honda since 2004. I purchased 2 cars from Madison Honda and was going to buy my truck there next month, but now I'm going somewhere else. read more

We've bought 2 cars here with no complaints. The service Dept is quite lacking. Most recent experience is typical: car was in for a recall repair and I was told my brakes are way over due and dangerously worn and will cost $600 to fix (I passed). A month later my mechanic said they're borderline but will be needed in the next few months. I had him do them and it cost $400. Small observation- my tire pressure light was on at both garage visits- Honda didn't bother to top them off but my mechanics did. So originally this review would've been a lot better before i felt robbed ... When i first arrived at Madison Honda for service, Dan was a "big help". I was told I would have my vehicle in about a week(with no loaner offered and it ended up taking 2 and getting a loaner after a week) , he gave "discounts they never give", and was sent on my way. I was told to do the rear brakes, rear struts, file down rotors, and do an alignment would all be over $2,000. I of course, said no, than was told it would be 1850 .. stupidly said OK cause it was already 7:30 pm and thanksgiving was 2 days away and had to leave. the next morning, i called at 7 am to leave a message and cancel the service. They never acknowledged that by calling back so i called again. They tried to tell me that i couldn't cancel or i would have to pay because the parts, IN CALIFORNIA, were already ordered. Although Dan previously stated they would take a week to even arrive due to the holiday. So Brian got on the phone and i was told he would do 1600 flat out the door. I again had to agree, cause he said i would be responsible for paying a re stocking fee(MIND YOU THE PARTS WERE NOT THERE YET)!! I ended up having the work done(not by choice) and when i got the paper work back, parts were "discounted" and the vehicle came to $325 FOR AN ALIGNMENT(that my vehicle required something special) weird because i than contacted Joyce Honda to ask if that was right (i also work in a dealership and i know its not) and they told me it would've costed $89.99 for that. i was told its more expensive because its "Madison" BY THE WAY - Dan never wanted to be bothered assisting again, which is perfectly fine. The receptionists are rude, don't understand anything and don't even acknowledge your existence when you walk in. So i DID have 2 vehicles being serviced at this location and i wanted to continue going back for leases with them, now i have 0 being serviced there and 0 chance of going back for re leasing. I will be contacting cooperate on these prices and employees based on being WAY OVERCHARGED. I don't expect anyone to contact me, being that they only care about getting money and overcharging clients. But if you have a choice to chose Madison Honda over any other Honda, DO NOT CHOOSE MADISON!!!! read more

He walked me through the service needed, and the vehicle was done right on the quoted time. The waiting area is standard, with coffee and tea, and snacks available. There is good wi-fi service. After a week he was back and just got every detail wrong, from where I needed to sign my contract to giving information to the bank. I had been driving around in a 2003 Saturn VUE, so when the oil started leaking; the driver's side window wouldn't open, and my serpentine belt went - I knew it was time for a trade-in, and boy - I could not be happier with my purchase! I walked into Madison Honda at approximately 10:30am and was greeted promptly by sales representative, Kiyoshi Matsumoto. He quickly assessed my needs and promised that I would be able to drive off the lot later with a new car. I was very specific about my requests - I wanted a CRV. I wanted to lease. And I needed to trade in my old car since it was unsafe to drive. Kiyoshi showed me exactly what I asked for and didn't try to sell me on anything I didn't need. I asked him to give me the best price he could and it was spot on with the budget my husband and I anticipated. We filled out all the paperwork - grabbed a quick lunch down the street - and by the time we came back, I signed off on all the financing and just had to wait for my car to be ready. The total wait time from start to finish was 10:30am-5:30pm - seven hours. Yes - it was a long time and that was truly the only disappointment in my day. I knew I was going to have to wait awhile, but I had not anticipated seven hours. Kiyoshi and other representatives checked on me throughout the waiting time, and I was very appreciative of that. I came across Madison Honda from TrueCar.com. They called me soon after I printed a quote from the website. I had fallen in love with the new 2016 civics but had awful service from the salesmen at both Autosport Honda in Bridgewater and Freehold Honda. So when I went into Madison, the first person that approached me was a sales rep, Mark Hathaway. He listened to my story of bad customer service from the other places and knew I did my research about the car I wanted, my financial goals, and concerns I had being a first time car buyer. He right away was willing to match the price I had received from TrueCar and took a quick look at my trade in. We test drove the civic and along the way he explained features about the car and was very knowledgable about Honda and its services. He let me test drive the exact model and color civic I was interested in as well. I felt no pressure to buy the car that same day, so Mark offered me to put down a deposit so I could go home and think it over. The next week I came in and decided I wanted to purchase the car. I dealt with Al Rico in the financial department, who was so accommodating and patient through out the whole process. He educated me on the warranties and fees and thanked me for my service as well. They gave me their numbers incase I had any questions or concerns. I appreciated their genuine caring of my purchase and did not get the feeling that they were just concerned with making a sale. I've always owned a Honda, but this experience at Madison was a real pleasure for my car buying process. It was really hassle free and I thank Mark for going above and beyond to make me feel comfortable from start to finish. Not good at all horrible service I was there 3 days in a row and they didn't help me one bit they knew the probly with my car and still wanted to charge me 150 just to look at it. I live inMadison I bought the car there and the manager told me we're not doing this for free even if one of there employees told me super unorganized and doesn't treat people well. I saw a vehicle I was interested in that I wanted to purchase for my daughter. After maybe two emails to Keith Brighton of the internet department and then a brief phone call to him, I agreed to visit the next day. I spoke with Robert Phillips at 9am the next morning and we came to an agreed upon price. By 5pm we arrived at the dealership and less than 1hr 1/2 later, we left with the car.The staff was very friendly and accommodating from start to finish and my daughter could not be happier with her first car. I just purchased a 2016. CR V from Madison. Honda. What a great experience. No high pressure. Showed us just what we were looking for. Talking price, which is usually a hassle was anything but. We feel we got a very FAIR DEAL Jose Alvarez was our Salesman. He was knowledgable, professional, and made us feel that he wanted to do the best for us, not just sell us a car. I just took my car in for a 15k service which includes tire rotation. I've never done this before, but I marked a tire to see if it was actually done. It was not!!!
