I really like Madison Honda. They have very nice employees who aren't super pushy and really work with you if you aren't trying to drop 1,000$ every-time you get an oil change. lol. They aren't the quickest, but I trust their work and they have a little area for kids if you have to bring them in a pinch and they are dog friendly if you want to bring the dog to walk around the area while you wait!! :) read more

Wanted to lease a CRV Hybrid Touring, and signed for it. When I went to pick up the car, I realized that the contract had the Generic HONDA CRV on the top, without the model name, just a vin number which was how I was supposed to identify the vehicle. Not Acceptable. When I asked about a feature of the Touring, Matt answered, "oh you don't get that with your model". That's how I found out I was not getting what I thought. He proceeded to talk me into keeping the Sport L. Very disappointing. I left the showroom and will not do business with Madison Honda. read more

I went yo Madison Honda this week just inquiring about a Used Honda Pilot EXL. I met the salesman named Chad. He was very friendly and and understanding. He worked every angle to make a deal that i can afford. After we agreed on a payment plan he introduced me to Ron who is in financing. Ron went the extra mile to help make this deal possible. I never had such a rewarding experience buying a car. They make you feel like part of their family. I highly recommend this dealer if you ever want to buy a car. You wont be disappointed!!! I brought my car in for service. I wrongly assumed that this business would care about and respect their customers and employees. I was wrong. Most employees and most customers were not wearing masks during this ridiculously high surge in Covid cases. Not only were most employees/salespeople NOT wearing masks, one salesperson was coughing without covering his mouth, and wiping his nose with his hands. At that point I left the waiting area and just took a walk in the cold. I came back in, freezing, double-masked, when they called me that my car was ready. I'm done with Madison Honda. read more

Our experience with Chad Sanders at Madison Honda had to have been the most easy, less stressful, process I have ever experienced. This was our first time getting a car like this. We were used to the craigslist life and getting old cars from strangers on the streets. Chad was aware of our stresses and urgency of a car, especially since my husband was hurt from a car accident. I don't feel like he took advantage of our urgency by pushing cars on us. He knew we had a specific budget and was very straight forward if it would work or not. With my husband at home resting and me at work, he was nice enough to help us through this process by text. Very personal indeed but it helped us so much and helped make carefully thought out decisions since we were not under so much pressure in person. As we were submitting our info on the website, someone did call us and tried to take over and push push push a car on us. We were confused and instantly overwhelmed, not happy about this at all. We mentioned this to Chad, who was unaware of the situation and handled it. Moving forward we did not qualify for a lease but he didn't give up on us and found something, I feel was a better car and option down the line, which was to finance. It was a tiny bit over our budget but we could make it work, just like anything. The process was seamless and easy, and next thing you know the car was on our insurance already. We went there tested the car and signed papers and that was it! Literally drove off like, "wait, that's it? We have a car?" Hahaha. Chad you are the best! Very honest straight forward person that cared about us and I appreciate that so much. Thank you!!! read more

Having been using Madison Honda for over 20 years and still pleased with their service (and snacks). Service reps have all been very helpful and nice and Madison Honda stands behind their service. Brad outdid his previous kindness, decency, compassion and generosity. It broke my heart. And that sounds odd maybe but it's not. Trust me. As decent a guy as I'd like to think I am - even where I told him twice to charge me on a service issue and he still didn't, I've got a lot of living left to rise to his level Of decency. Atticus Finch level moral backbone. That's what breaks your heart - when you encounter someone that's the best of who you hold yourself out to be - but really aren't. Cars, money, time and all the rest don't mean a thing. Credibility, integrity and decency are all we have. He said it himself in one of our first conversations - all you are is your word. So whoever you reading this stunned at these accolades, thinking no one's like this out there, you're wrong. You got a Honda that needs servicing, I don't care how far you have to drive: you get it to Brad. And not because he may waive a charge but because you can stake your life on his word. read more

Besides getting a loaner car I was ripped off for service at this location. Do not come here for service. They charge labor for every single fluid that goes in the car when other service center include it. The invoice doesn't break down the prices well so they can charge whatever price they want and hide it within other prices. Paid over $500 for some dealer package. Showed the invoice to another Honda Service center to make sure don't get repeat services and my goodness just as I thought prior Madison Honda ripped me off. And get this they lied about actually completing the services. Never again. read more

Sales person was nice enough and knowledgeable- However, when it came down to pricing and they got their sales manager involved, it was a quick downhill. Right out of a tv show or movie - matched the stereotype of a used car salesperson, although we were shopping for a new car. We were so turned off and apparently so was the manager since he became even more unprofessional. Left such a bad taste in our mouths that we decided to find a different Honda Dealership. Oh where to begin....my car was bucking on the highway....my local mechanic said to take it to a dealer. They took in in for diagnostics ($150) and I left. 11 months later the bucking resurfaced and I come back to get an estimate of $1100 to fix the problem.....I have no choice.... I pick up the car and drive less than one mile and it bucks (think I'm happy at being taken and that the car obviously was not road tested?). I bring it back and they hold the a car for a week and after telling me it's ready I get another bill for $1400 (so now I'm in $2500). I ask to speak to a manager and he is conveniently unavailable as he is in the bathroom so I say I'll wait. Then the cashiers cell phone (not the business phone) rings and I can hear the voice of someone saying "there is no charge". My question is simple.....if I had handed my credit card over with out asking for a manager would there have been no charge? I was already lied to by the dealer so I have zero trust in them and will never return. Oh and I received a coupon for a "free" oil change as if I would ever let anyone from that place even look at my car. read more

I had really hoped to have a positive experience at Madison Honda because of the convenience of the location to me; unfortunately, that was not remotely the case. Currently, Madison Honda is marking the price of cars up to 30% above MSRP on the most popular models. Just about every car on the lot is marked up in some way. I was quoted almost 60K for a Honda CRV Hybrid - that's absolute insanity. Even more ridiculous? Their "sister" location in Phillipsburg offers the exact same cars for MSRP and you can work with them to get something off sticker! I understand that many dealers are not budging on the MSRP of popular cars because of supply and demand but a 30% markup is ridiculous. The sales associate I worked with tried to suggest I should feel good if he took it down to only 20% above MSRP. The associate also showed me the "true value" of the car, yet still wanted to charge me more! I went home and requested quotes via AAA - Madison Honda sent me a quote. You can print out the quote and the dealer is supposed to honor the offer. The quote Madison Honda sent me through AAA was lower on the exact car I looked at! The associate I worked with reached out to me after I received the AAA quote and told me the price dropped as I walked out the door; it was still above MSRP. Really, just take the 40 minute drive to the Phillipsburg Easton Honda (their sister dealership) you'll save 15K and have a far superior sales experience. Also the sales rep I worked with was rude, aggressive, spoke down to me, and frankly, I think tried to take advantage of me because I am a woman. Honestly, worst car dealership experience I have ever had. Stay away from this dealer, go just about anywhere else or just try their sister dealership you'll be happy you did. read more

Charging $6,000 over sticker on a base compact economy sedan and calling it a "marketing adjustment" is simply not acceptable. It's a Civic, not an Escalade. I know of no other brand or dealer doing this on this type of vehicle in 2023. I also overheard one of the salespeople relishing getting "14k over sticker" from a customer on a Ridgeline. Hopefully that person doesn't end up dangerously upside down on an auto-loan. Buyer beware. read more

I have been a loyal Volkswagen owner for 12 years, but at the end of my most recent lease I felt like if the right car and opportunity arose I'd be willing to consider another dealership. Kyle Becker could not have been anymore patient or helpful through my entire leasing process. He must have answered a million questions for me from comparing different models and trim levels to pricing inquiries. His knowledge and enthusiasm for the Honda brand really sold me on moving my business to Madison Honda after so many years driving VW's. Even after I drove off the lot in my new car, he continued to reach out to encourage me to ask any questions I might have and make sure I was happy with my purchase. He went above and beyond to ensure I leased a vehicle that met my needs but would still be fun to drive! Excellent, friendly customer service with someone who's passionate about what they do is so rare and refreshing - THANK YOU KYLE! I also really appreciated how I didn't feel pressured at any point during my financing/contract process - so many dealerships try to "push" extras on you. My paperwork was handled in what I could say is record time, and Laura was very pleasant to work with. My new Passport EX-L is amazing, was immaculately detailed when I picked it up, and continues to exceed my expectations each time I drive it! AND THAT SOUND SYSTEM! Like driving in an IMAX theater! I had a very pleasant experience with Steve Dann selecting and purchasing a 3 year old low milage honda pilot after my 7 year old pilot was totaled in an accident. I am a Florida resident who summers in NJ and had the accident on our way to NJ. I am less satisfied with their registration process as I asked to have the old registration transferred to the new purchase so that i can maintain a FL vanity license plate. They refused and are issuing a new registration and license. This means I have to return the plate immediately to avoid having my drivers license voided by the state of Florida, and will have to apply for a new vanity plate in October. My call to Fl DMV said that transfer of registration is not difficult and costs $5. It could be more complicated from out of state I guess. I also was offered a Honda Care package while signing forms and paying for the vehicle. A one sheet broad description was all i was given or shown in writing. No long form description of the package was offered but it had to be elected immediately on a used car purchase. They apparently do not really want to sell this coverage or I would have been given a written description during the 5 day period when the car was being Honda certified before i gqave final approval and payment. No satisfactory explanation was given for this approach. read more

This honda has to be down right one of the best honda dealerships I have ever been to (and i've been to quite a lot). Let me start from the beginning. I needed to get a timing belt done as well as a lot of fluid changes and after checking out multiple different places, Honda had the best prices as well as a 15% of services coupon so I figured why not. I called a week and a half prior to book an appointment (they are usually booked all week so make sure to call at least a week beforehand so that they can fit you in). On the day of, I mistakenly thought my appointment was at 9:30 but it was at 9am but they were chill about it and accepted me anyway. They automatically noticed we had a recall for our passenger seat airbags so they did that for us on the spot. The service is impeccable. Everyone is super sweet and super helpful. After we booked our car with the car mechanic, we went inside where they gave us an uber to go home since they said they wouldn't be done with our car until 4/4:30pm. While waiting for the uber, we went upstairs where they had multitude variety of snacks as well as drinks (my mom and I got the hot chocolate-soo good). If we didn't get an uber, they do have wifi as well as many different tv stations on so that you can keep yourself occupied while waiting. Once the uber arrived, we left to go home. At 4/4:30pm, I got a call that my car was done so they came and picked me up at around 4:45/5pm (traffic). I picked up my car, quick payment, and came home. And man, that ride home was great. My car felt like a new car! This place definitely knows what they are doing, and 10/10 I will come back! read more

I recommend staying clear from Madison Honda if you're looking to trade in your car because your lease is up or lease/buy a new car. I went to them in 2020, leased a car, and had a great experience with a car dealer named Brandon. I miss you Brandon, where ever you are as you were kind and a good listener. In 2023, new manager and dealer I was previously working with no longer there. So, I get a call from a call from new car dealer, requesting I come in to look at my vechile and discuss numbers. I make an appointment, get there, car dealer takes a quick look at my car and said he would only give me numbers if I was willing to make a deal that same day. What! They called the wrong one. Politely left after 10 long minutes. This place is misleading and attempts to take advantage of customers. I will be taking my business elsewhere! read more

Beware Madison Honda Service, especially if you're female! My most recent experience was negative. They wanted to charge me $540 for a repair which I eventually had done at Joyce Honda for $325.67! My car alarm was going off loudly on its own. I drove to Madison Honda. Within 2 hours they diagnosed it. A defective front hood latch needed to be replaced so it would not set off the alarm. They charged me nothing for the diagnosis, which was a positive. The advisor, Sean Murray, explained they would need to order the part, which was non-refundable. He wrote everything down for me. Their estimate for the total to replace the hood latch was $540! This included a 10% discount. I said my husband could take care of it when he returned and left with the estimate. I then called Joyce Honda on Route 10 in Denville. Their estimate for the same work was significantly less. They ordered the part, installed it and provided shuttle service to take me back and forth while they were working on the car. The total cost: $325.67! One of the reasons Madison Honda had for the high price was that they said they would need to take the bumper off. As far as I can tell, the bumper is not close to the hood latch. Regardless, I was told by others that removing and replacing the bumper is not time-consuming. I have no idea if they would have estimated less if I had been a man. In any case, they were prepared to take advantage of me! read more

I spent the better part of a small fortune for service at Madison Honda. Madison Honda recommended numerous services on all parts of the vehicle, including work to be performed on the wheels and brakes. Despite the exorbitant cost, I consented to Madison Honda to perform their recommended services as I wanted my vehicle to be in top shape and all issues to be addressed. After receiving my vehicle back from Madison Honda, I was shocked to find a ping pong ball in my car. I guess the Madison Honda mechanics enjoy playing ping pong in customers' cars. Immediately after Madison Honda completed their service, I literally drove straight to Costco Tire, since they rotate my tires for free. To my absolute horror, the Costco professionals advised me to immediately take my car in for service with a full-service auto shop because Costco identified issues with the wheels. Really? I had just paid several thousand dollars at Madison Honda and drove STRAIGHT to Costco Tire. Not once did Madison Honda identify the issues, nor did they fix them. They were quick to accept my several thousand dollars of payment though. However apparently all I got in return for my money was a ping pong ball! So disappointed! read more

I am in the market for a newer vehicle. I spotted a GMC pick-up at Madison Honda. I went over the weekend to look it over and I liked it. I noted that it was 2020 with 25,801 miles on the vehicle. I went to their web site and looked up the listing noting that they lowered the price a little however the miles were at 25,801 on the web site. I went for a test drive and noted that the real mileage was 32,351??? When I questioned this the salesman stated that they must have forgotten to update the mileage on their web site. The spec sheet in the window also shows 25,801. They played the pricing game with me and I eventually walked out. This is a deceptive practice. Today they updated the web site to 31,297 still not showing the real miles on this vehicle. Is this how they sell all of the used vehicles??? Madison Honda Bad choice stay away. read more

Dishonest. I brought my car in for a check engine light and a general tune up including mileage indicated replacement parts. The price I was quoted for the repairs was 5x more than what I had previously been quoted that I had them stop after the diagnostics and took my business elsewhere. I brought my Honda Accord in Saturday morning 5/28/22 at 9am for a 9:10am appointment. I've been here before and spent well over 2 grand in all my service there on this car over the years. I told the service rep that I would be waiting upstairs and he told me that it should be done within 2 hours and they would call me if there were any issues. After waiting two and a half hours, I went down to see how much longer it would be. After hemming and hawing for a bit, the same rep finally proceeds to tell me that there was a "mis-communication" and that the car hadn't even begun to be serviced. There was barely an apology. That's the end of my association with Madison Honda. It's the 2nd time this year that something has disappointed. My last service I pointedly asked them to be sure to do something only to find that it wasn't done. This kind of unprofessionalism is completely unacceptable. I consider myself a return client of Madison Honda. A five star for our experience in 2016 when we purchase our 16 Pilot. It was one of the best purchase experience we had. A zero star for my 2018 purchase experience, as Madison Honda did not want my business and basically told me to go away. 1. In March, a snowstorm brought down a 60-ft tree and totaled two of our cars. I need a new car immediately to work. I stopped in Madison Honda looking for a silver 2018 Accord with payment check in my pocket. Rita (if I remember her name correctly) in the showroom assigned Joe to me. Unfortunately, Joe is not available that morning, as he is waiting for another clients' new car pickup. Rita and I sat down. Rita="Can I help you? Me-"I need an Accord right away." Reply="Yes, please call us later and make an appointment with Joe." Me-"If Jow is not available, can any other sales rep help me?" ="Sorry, everyone is busy." I looked around and saw three of them eating donuts and chatting. Me-"Can you at least give me some price information?" ="We have what you want but I cannot give you any information now. Please come back later when Joe is available." Me-... So I went to Totoya in Morristown on my way home and got myself a 2018 Camry by nightfall that day. 2. The service for my 2016 Pilot is actually very good last a few weeks ago. It has the unbeatable price and fairly friendly staff in the maintenance department. A solid four-star. In average (5+4+0)/3 = 3. read more

Service does solid work. I was also provided a loaner car and eventually, a refund of what I considered to be above and beyond reasonable charges. But the customer service needs improvement. I only agreed to have my car serviced because I was promised it would be finished the next day after dropping it off on a Monday. I did not see my vehicle again until Saturday. I cannot count the number of times I was put on hold when calling for updates, and the advisor claimed to have called me which did not happen at all. The price of the work also jumped approximately $200 more than the estimate with all taxes and fees included. I had already agreed to more than 10x that amount at the time of submitting my car for repair. So, needless to say I was surprised when an additional 5% was added to the repair. Thankfully, the additional amount was eventually resolved after the fact. I understand that dealerships have the advantage given the current shortage of parts and cars. And dealership service typically costs a premium in general. But having been a customer of Madison Honda since 2014, I'm stunned at how poor the customer service was. I will say, however, that management will do their best to make it right if you are willing to make a case for what went wrong. read more

I've bought my current car here and continue to use them for some service. Very disappointed to see 15% market adjustment on numerous vehicles on sale. Spoke to head of service Jon about my experience and they committed to fixing the problem. The tech in the shop said they regretted "misdiagnosing" the problem and they looked further into potential causes to find a burned out fuse and some wiring that needed replacing. Review of Car Repair and Service I recently brought my car in for a warranty issue. This place is all about ripping you off. T, the service manager will squirm out of ever giving any helpful information over the phone and she'll try her hardest to convince you bring the car in for their $350 diagnostic fee. Obviously, once they diagnose your car, their going to jack up the price. You'll be reluctant to leave since they say they'll waive the $350 if you do the work there. That's their scam. If you're looking for some great mechanics in the area, who won't try to rip you off, there is A&J Automotive in Vauxhall (best) and Exxon Prospect in West Orange. We purchased our honda from Open Road Honda in Edison, NJ and used to get our regular servicing done at the same dealership. They always give you good info on car health maintenance and take their time to explain things. This is not a gigantic dealership, but the great service center staff very much makes up for the small dealership. There is a TV screen that shows you your place in the queue and estimated time of completion of the servicing. The beverage and snack section is also neat.
