The decor is very warm and welcoming. There is patio seating available. The inside was much larger inside than I expected. Order at the counter and take a number type of service. You can leave the dishes at the table to be bussed. We ordered a latte, breakfast burrito, blueberry tea, and the French toast. Lots of open seating around 11am Monday morning. The restrooms were very clean. The French toast was heavenly. I especially liked the lemon ricotta dollop. I enjoyed the tea as well. The coffee came with latte art (a leaf). The burrito was a pretty big serving. The breakfast burrito was a little more tart than I was expecting for breakfast. I'm very happy this was my last meal in Wisconsin.

My mint cold brew hit me with a punch of fresh mint you don't often find in artificial syrups. The chorizo hash was well balanced. The perfect amount of spice from the chorizo and brightness from the cream, cilantro and avocado. The bright welcoming vibe creates a fun dining experience. We came for brunch and were able to enjoy the outdoor patio comfortably as the patio was well protected from the morning sun. I look forward to stopping back my next time in Madison

I made a loop around the store that started with produce, then into a very small bakery area and the hot bar/deli area, into the cold section and shelves, and finally through the frozen section. There are a lot of organic, natural, and alternative-diet food items and a wider array of veggie products than you'll encounter at a regular grocery store. I had hoped to find graham flour here, but they didn't carry it in either their bulk flours up front, nor in the baking aisle. One thing that stuck out to me is that prices are all over the place. Some things are much cheaper than you'll find them in typical grocery stores, while others are sticker-shock expensive. For example, Field Roast veggie sausages were around $5, while they go for closer to $7 at most other places around Madison. On the flip side, there was a rising crust pizza for I think $6 that I just picked up for $3.50 at another store. One thing I will say is that the vibe of the Co-op is different from any other grocer I've been to, in that it seemed like hangout spot. Lots of people were shopping in pairs with friends and chit-chatting away with each other and the staff. It's definitely got more of a community/small-town corner shop feel in that way. I have a gift card for the Co-op burning a hole in my wallet, so I'll have to pop back through again when I have more time to browse and don't have specific items in mind.

A very friendly person took our order and gave some recommendations on the menu. We ended up getting the grab and go shrimp spring rolls, a taro milk tea, and the lemongrass chicken bahn mi. The bahn mi was the star and quite large. It was easy to split between two people. The bread was the perfect texture and the pickled veg was standout. Only complaint is that it's always hard to get a bite with meat and veg. The milk tea was fine, but I did like that you could pick the sweetness. Probably would not get the shrimp spring rolls again. The sauce was nice and was also good with the bahn mi, but the seasoning on the shrimp and in the roll made it feel a little less fresh than we hoped. Overall, worth a try and I'd go back for the bahn mi. I also want to try their purple sticky rice and maybe one of the curry specials. Feels like a good addition to this side of town.

I did order the lemongrass chicken bowl and got a bit of food poisoning/stomach issues from it. It could have just been an off day because everyone that got a sandwich was totality fine. I would not risk the chicken here.

The interior was very cozy and cute- perfect for both getting work done or chatting with a friend. The goods were pretty much sold out as expected, but I managed to snag a piece of grapefruit rosemary bread alongside a maple cardamom latte. The latte was a bit light on flavor and could have used a bit more sweetener and spice. The loaf, however, was pretty exceptional- it wasn't too sweet and the grapefruit flavor came through very well. The rosemary was also prominent but not at all overpowering. Everything looked delicious, so I definitely look forward to getting there early and trying more pastries the next time opportunity strikes. In the meantime, I definitely recommend paying a visit!
