A cute tea shop in downtown Madison. I loved how you could order big teapots and pitchers of plain tea, and they had a huge tea book of the different tea leaves they offer. It was perfect for trying the actual flavor of the leaves without the sugar. I really enjoyed the iced jasmine tea. They also offer a mystery drink, where the staff will make you a random hot/iced drink. There is seating inside and a collection of board games that you can grab for a chill hangout.
What a cute tea bar! Such an enticing menu, I was conflicted because everything looked so good but ended up getting the teddy graham matcha with boba! It was pretty expensive but really well done. I wish I could come back and try more items but I was unfortunately only in town for an event. Service was very fluid and kind, and the place was decorated so cutely! Ambiance is stellar, great study spot. I would recommend this as a must try!!
I stopped by for a quick tea on a Sunday afternoon. The place was bustling with young crowd. Hot ginger matcha milk tea was my favorite item. It had matcha flavor as well as a good kick from ginger. Royal milk bubble tea was my other item. That was good as well. Almond chocolate cake was nice and soft.
The drinks were really good! I was a little skeptical at first but the owner and cashier were so nice. They host a lot of events here too. I saw some posters for trivia night and a murder mystery. It's nice to see someone building community. It was very busy when we went and they even said they weren't expecting so many people. They ran out of boba but the milk caps were fantastic.
I have loved sencha for years but they just keep getting better and better. My go to order is a watermelon cooler w strawberry jellies but you really can't go wrong w any of their dI haven't caught her name but the lovely lady making drinks is 1) a very talented barista and 2) so kind! She always asks me how my day is and actually listens. The ambiance is very cozy, sometimes it can get crowded but when you come in at a lucky time you can hang out and enjoy the low lighting, fall decor, and board games. They have a customer for life, I love you sencha!
I honestly never knew this was a Boba spot. They have a lot of fun topping options as well as variety for milk and not dairy teas. On State Street they often times also have a chalkboard with a bunch of fun little themes, such as the drink you should get based on your zodiac sign or the drink you should get based on the table with area you were in so it's always a fun experience. if you feel like that's OK, there are plenty of options once you get inside. The staff is super friendly and they have a ton of cute little earrings, stickers, and knickknacks that you can purchase at the checkout as well
Hit me with bubble tea, Sencha!!! This place is a cozy mainstay my god. State Street is peppered with boba places, and Sencha usually delivers. If you're looking for a modest cuppa tea that's packed with sugar this is your place. The environment in here is so warm and there's alwAys cute art on the walls. Great place to study. I'm here on a winter night, tonight. I've definitely written a paper almost into the AM here before. The staff is literally always the kindest! They'll ask you how you are and not in the Trader Joe's way (if y'a know y'a know). Their classic bobas are always good but I'm a sucker for their seasonal teas. Like I got a Cookie Butter Latte. Come on! Doesn't that sounds lush? It was. Getchya Sencha NOW.
Tea, tea, everything tea. My friend who I went with to Sencha is very into tea and loved all the options and was very happy with their drink. I also got a gift here for a tea lover curated by the staff and the recipient was tinkled pink. I tried the turmeric latte with oak milk and it wasn't great (IMO, a non-tea drinker) - not sure if it was the oat milk rather than cow milk but that was a miss. But why would you care what a coffee drinker thinks about a tea drink?!
This is a cute tea place. I got a matcha latte. I ordered it with 3 packets of stevia. When I received my drink the barrista had obviously forgotten them. That's usually not a big deal, but because this is boba place, the lid on my cup was sealed. I ended up pouring the stevia through the tiny hole my straw made. Not the most efficient or tidy, but it worked. Atmosphere is nice. I really liked the selection in the free library area.
Since moving from California, I was in search for a bubble tea place that could match up to my old favorites. Sencha seems to be a front runner! The location is perfect nestled along State Street. The inside is quite small and bustling with people no matter the time of day. However, service is fast and people are always nice! The sweetness of their milk tea is customizable which is something I really appreciate. Also, I love the amount of toppings that they offer aside from just boba. They're also open till 11PM every night which is an additional plus!
Fast, tasty, cozy and wonderful staff. Their peppermint mocha is a special treat on a dreary day.
One of my fav drink to-go in Madison I've been getting the passion fruit green tea since the first time I came as a a freshman and my friend recommended this to me. Also have tried other ones, tastes nice. Also, a bonus point, there's always nice atmosphere in the store. The staffs are friendly. The store little tables and decors are cute as well

The service here was outstanding!!! We only had a short interaction with the staff, but they were incredibly nice and welcoming, and THAT level of service can be surprisingly hard to find! The shop itself is beautiful, and their tea selection is HUGE, perfect If you're looking for a place to stock up on different teas and tea supplies. I ordered an iced jasmine tea and was really excited to try it, but unfortunately it was way too sweet for me. I was expecting plain jasmine tea with no sugar or syrup, and I really don't enjoy sweet drinks, so I couldn't drink it (sadly), I wish they had asked whether I wanted it sweetened or unsweetened when I ordered. But I enjoyed visiting and would come back, just with a very clear "no sugar, please!" next time lol read more

Sencha Tea Bar blends modern energy with a touch of whimsy--and Madison's location captures both perfectly. We stopped in for a midday pick-me-up and were greeted with a menu that felt more like a mood board: vibrant, customizable, and full of refreshing promise. I ordered the Mango Watermelon Iced Tea, which arrived crisp, fruit-forward, and exceptionally balanced. It wasn't overly sweet, and the watermelon notes didn't overpower the mango--a rare achievement in fruit tea profiles. My favorite of the visit, though, was the Moo Long Purple specialty drink. A layered beauty with oolong tea, lavender undertones, and rich purple hues that swirled like a galaxy in a cup. It had a soft floral fragrance and a creamy finish that made each sip linger just a second longer than expected. Staff were quick, friendly, and familiar with their blends--offering insights on flavor pairings and boba textures. The shop itself was clean, cozy, and a sweet retreat from the bustle of State Street. Whether you're looking to sip slowly with friends or grab a colorful Instagram-worthy drink on the go, Sencha delivers more than just tea--it delivers an experience worth repeating read more

This place was the only boba place open after 8pm on a week day. I love their smoothies! The place is small and isn't good for a big group hangout because it could get busy here. I liked that they had a bathroom for guests. Very convenient since it's downtown. The service was good and fast. I'll come back again for sure. They also sell their own "Sengcha" sweatshirts, cute little keychains by the checkout register. Menu options are good as well. I ordered the peppermint mocha latte with no boba. It is good but I'm not really a peppermint mocha type so I only got it to try.. I wouldn't get this next time though. I recommend their smoothies for sure! read more

Stopped here in a beautiful day to satisfy our bubble tea craving. Not wanting to make any unnecessary contact and limit touching surfaces such as door handles, counters, and the credit card machine during COVID, we tried to call and place the order over the phone. The barista that answered the phone simply stated that they are not taking phone orders and I can walk in and place the order. When I walked in, the same barista was on the phone telling another customer the same thing about not accepting phone in orders. Then she turned towards another employee and mocked the caller with an annoyed tone, indicating that this was, "the hundredth time someone's asked the same question today". Perhaps because that's an indication of a service that's lacking? We wanted a black tea that was blended with tapioca, and was asked to choose a flavoring (hibiscus, peach, etc.). We just wanted something we've gotten from many other bubble tea places before. But they insisted it wasn't going to turn out well without any added flavoring. Then the barista recommended the Royal Thai Tea. Sounding close to what we're looking for, that's what we went with, but with less sweetness. When we received the order, it was not blended. I had to go back into the store and asked for it to be blended, which another woman said, sure, but the less sweet version will not taste as good blended. Once we verified that the order we were trying to place all along finally arrived correctly, it was actually enjoyable and the amount of sweetness was perfect. The whole experience induced head-scratching and head-tilting, from the beginning with the box of Tampax on a table near their merchandise shelf in plain view when you first walk in. read more

Yelp 100 Challenge 2018 - 3 Sencha Tea Bar is a small tea shop nearby University of Wisconsin, Madison. There is a Kungfu Tea nearby but I prefer to come here instead since I can go to Kungfu Tea anywhere else. I really like the ambiance at this place. It's a small and yet very cozy place. With cute decorations throughout the shop with sentimental lights by the window, you will love this place as much as I did. Being a tea fanatic, I decided to go with Lychee flavor with the Green Tea base. I asked to be made less sweet and my drink was perfectly fine for my taste! My Boyfriend got Cantaloupe and his was pretty good too which complemented very well with chewy boba or tapioca balls. On my second visit, I went with Peach with the same Green Tea base, this was tasty also. I think I liked Lychee slightly more. Japanese Matcha Latte was good. It was something I had somewhere else. Nothing too special. The two guys working at the bar were both friendly and kind! I really enjoyed my stay here with the boyfriend with these great drinks made by them. I would definitely be back whenever I am back in Wisconsin. read more

My daughter and I are tea drinkers and were drawn in by the signs. Mint tea calms my stomach issues so I ordered an iced mint tea. Delish! My oldest got a little man tea infuser. Hard to describe but you put the tea leaves in its pants and he holds on to the side of your coffee cup. Pictures to follow. There was some neat retail items for sale. They also sell loose leaf tea and we brought some home. Cute little shop and the owner was very helpful and knowledgeable. read more

When I walked in, I immediately noticed how cute it was inside. I also noticed it was small, but in a cozy way. I can see this being annoying when they get busy though. I got a royal milk tea with boba, which is my go-to drink. I thought it was ok but nothing special. If I found myself in Madison again, I would likely try another boba place over coming back here. They have some board games, so Sencha would be a good place to grab some drinks, play games, and just hang out. They also have some tea merch by the cashier that would be good gifts for tea aficionados. read more

Sencha is my favorite place to stop! I go every time I'm in Madison (or their other locations in Minneapolis!) I've even asked them to open up a location in Mayfair Mall Milwaukee so I can go more often!! This place is legit. They use real tea in their drinks. And it's good! They offer drinks hot, iced, "cooler" or slushie like (my favorite), shake, and milk tea. Their boba is always cooked right and they even have seasonal flavors of popping bubbles. Their flavored boba teas use syrup instead of powder (ick powder is gross) and they have exciting flavors like lychee, passion fruit, hibiscus, and guava. They also have the best chai I've found in the many tea places I visit. It's nice and spicy instead of sweet. Very refreshing to drink! I love everything about sencha. They tend to be pretty busy being on state street but that way I know my favorite place will never close! Love it! read more
