I've eaten here several times, my wife has only ever ordered the lamb gyro with rice, because it's 6.99 and it's delicious, and usually she's the one to move around the menu. My son has the chicken biryani, I have chicken vindaloo. Every meal we have had has been filling and very flavorful. The garlic naan is perfect, and finishing it up with their rice pudding is just right. The staff is always friendly and courteous, you know they appreciate your business. My friend and I stopped here after being tired from shopping on a hot saturday afternoon and i have to say it was one of the highlights of our trip to philly! I ordered the curry goat and chicken samosas from here. The samosas were delicious. The goat was mostly fat so I won't be ordering that again but the curry was amazing. If you don't mind fatty meat as long as the curry is good then definitely order the curry goat. Delicious! I will definitely be ordering from Maroosh regularly. You have to really like spice, and that the only reason I didn't give five stars. Came with friends for dinner. We shared the butter chicken, okra, lamb biriyani, fresh naan, and the chicken maroosh sandwich. Everything is so fresh and delicious. This is a pretty run-of-the-mill Indian place. Surprisingly, despite the plethora of Indian groceries around 69th St., I have not found an exceptional Indian restaurant. The quality of the dishes here varies. The chana masala is oily, but saag paneer and murgh masala are better. They do use whole spices in their dishes, which is nice. You do have to ask for one spice level above what you want. Another plus is that the owner goes out of his way to give good service. The first time I ordered, there was an issue with their delivery guy; the owner called me from his vacation in Florida to apologize and then got a taxi driver to deliver it! read more

Do not bother. The food is not good at all. I've had the chance to go to many great Indian restaurants in my lifetime so I know what great Indian food tastes like. Take my word for it, this is not good. When the best part of the meal is the rice, that is not a good sign at all. We ordered samosas and I though it was fried well and crispy, once you bit into it the stuff on the inside was mediocre. We also order the Mala Kofta and Butter chicken. The veggie balls that were in the mala kofta had a weird floury feel to them and the sauce was missing that wonderful spices that you experience at a good restaurant. The butter chicken was so tart with the tomato sauce that it just did not do it for me. If you want to waste your money and go hungry order from this place.
