Meg of NutMeg Cakes and Catering is a truly expert pastry chef. Meg trained at the Culinary…read moreInstitute of America and from what I have tasted, she was at the top of her class. Meg's cakes are moist, light, sweet, but not overly so, and layered with amazing flavors. Meg's Black Forest chocolate cake filled with cherries and topped with a whipping cream is heavenly. Her Bailey's Chocolate Cake is even better than it sounds. I have also tasted her red velvet cupcakes filled with chocolate ganache and topped with cream cheese frosting. Seriously. Yum. Her lemon tarts are so beyond. She also does a lemon curd filled cake that is killer. Plus, I have devoured her amazing onion tarts and other savory pastries. They are totally amazing. Why have I tasted so many of Meg's treats? She is the pastry chef for Poppies and Jen's Garden, both in Sisters, Oregon. Poppies and Jen's Garden have amazing food, as well. They both strive to put out the highest quality food while targeting a different dining experience. You know they have the highest of expectations for pastries that come out of their kitchens, and Meg delivers. I work out every day and save all of my "treat" calories for one of Meg's delicious pastries. I am already dreaming about what she will make next. NutMeg Cakes and Catering is available for on-site catering, special events, specialty cakes, wedding cakes, and more. You should call Meg. You will be glad that you did!

It was served with the fluffiest, softest, warm pita I've ever had. My husband had the braised lamb shank served over brown butter farro and I had the pulled lamb shoulder with couscous. The meat was so flavorful and tender, and the sides complimented the lamb perfectly. The chef and owner Kamal came by our table to thank us for coming in and tell us about a jazz club called Cellar 65 they have downstairs where they offer different cuisine experiences throughout the year. (I believe the next one coming up is Greek Night...looks amazing!) We will definitely be back soon to try some other dishes and desserts.

Walking into this cute spot on a corner you are greeted and this place is super inviting, with large windows letting in light and letting you sit and people watch while you enjoy their delicious coffee! I love the style and music that is playing, our server was super nice and attentive, decided to try the Duck Bastilla and shared the Mushroom Toast. While we waited we had to try the flourless chocolate cake and Apple Cinnamon Cake, warmed up along side our cup of Joe. Ok so brace yourselves for this...the starter came out and was served to us by Chef Kamal and wasn't a disappointment on the eyes, crafted so delicately on the plate. The flaky filo was a golden hue and held a beautiful song inside of the most perfectly mix savory and sweet flavor, the duck was soft and tender, leaving you just wanted MORE!! I was pleasantly impressed with the way the dish was put together, each piece like a puzzle and this was just the starter. The mushroom toast arrived and she was the Belle of the Ball at our table, the side salad is a nice refreshing addition, but this crafted piece of art was stacked and piping hot, atop was a perfectly poached egg. Starting on just a corner of this nicely toasted house made brioche canvas that held a picture of painted on creamy bean spread adorning this was a medley of mushrooms with all the right seasonings and as you devour this you get a hint of the citrus! I am beyond impressed with this spot!! Chef my hats off to you and your partner back in the kitchen, I know now that the pillows are to "catch you" when you faint after tasting this food! So good we came back!!! I salute you Chef!! Your love for this craft shows!!

The Ocean Roll is a great "bun" and tastes like nothing else. I think it's the cardamom? I'll take it home and warm it back up in the oven for a delicious treat.
