(Please note: if you want to order something, she may be busy in the back so ring the bell and she comes out right away). The sourdough cinnamon rolls are huge and tasty - probably enough for 2 or 3 people. The wild berry bar was great and not too sweet, allowing the berry flavor to come through. The ganache brownie was super yummy and chocolatey with a generous amount of the ganache topping. Definitely worth a stop by for a special, home made treat!

I love the variety of cupcakes: snicker doodle, lemon poppyseed, lemon, passion fruit, red velvet and several more! Lots of frosting choices too, Oreo, fireball whiskey, orange, to name a few! They also sell gluten free cupcakes but they will be frozen unless you order ahead of time. Mini cupcakes are only available by ordering a day ahead of time. We wanted to make it special and ordered custom cookies months in advance, paying **$230 for three dozen cookies**. Tricia provided inspiration photos and specifically requested elegant white and green piped lily-of-the-valley cookies. What we received looked nothing like what I ordered. Instead of hand-piped cookies, she received cookies with what appeared to be printed images that lacked the detail, craftsmanship, and aesthetic we had paid for. They were completely different from the agreed-upon design and not appropriate for the event we had envisioned. Tricia reached out to the baker by email to try to resolve the issue, but never received a response. After being unable to get any communication, my sorority sister had no choice but to file a dispute with her credit card company. The credit card company investigated the transaction and ultimately ruled in my sorority sister's favor, refunding the purchase. This wasn't just about cookies. It was about trusting someone with an important milestone that could never be recreated. She ordered months in advance, communicated expectations clearly, and paid a premium price expecting premium work. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this business. --- When a customer spends hundreds of dollars months in advance for a custom order tied to an irreplaceable life event, they deserve communication, professionalism, and a product that resembles what was promised. A friend introduced us to Bend Cookie Company delights when she brought us a bag of their oatmeal…read morecookies "just because". She's something of a cookie aficionado and thought they were great. We think she's right! We'd indulge in Bend Cookie Company (BCC) delights once in a while and buy them at Newport Avenue Market (our favorite independent neighborhood grocer). Then serendipity! Mom and daughter owners now have the booth right next to Bonta Natural Artisan Gelato at the NW Crossing Farmers Market (Sat 10 - 2). It makes it very easy to pick up a bag to go, as we did last Saturday with Snickerdoodles to tuck into a picnic basket to introduce friends to Bend Cookie Company treats this week. (I report, with mixed emotions, that while I have been making great Snickerdoodles since I was eleven years old, the Bend Cookie Company's version is greater!) BCC's original claim to fame comes from their shaped, beautifully iced and decorated sugar cookies, suitable for about any custom occasion like for wedding favors, or for baby showers, or to celebrate birthdays or graduations. Or as a business gifts. Come to think of it, that's a great idea! We just had delivered some pretty spendy patio furniture and the place we bought it from included four plastic glasses with their logo on them. Ha! Think how much more impressive it would have been to get a nice box of "thank you" Bend Cookie Company cookies to enjoy with iced tea while sitting in the new furniture! ;-) BCC also makes the drop cookies we prefer like the aforementioned Snickerdoodle. Or cranberry cinammon. Or toasted pecan and toffee. To name just a few. Sometimes a wonderful, home baked, buttery and just sweet enough cookie is just the ticket. Then I learned the pies are sometimes available at Central Oregon Locavore and so on a lark last Thursday when I was in town I popped into Locavore late in the afternoon and as serendipity would have it the Farmhouse Pies had just been dropped off. We chose the Maple Pumpkin (other flavors that day were Triple Berry, Apple and Pear Ginger Crumble) and it was delightful for flavor of filling and butter pastry crust too. A bit more rustic in appearance than I expected, that too was delightful, and it was perfect size for six slices. We are eager to try more on future visits.
