Pad Thai
Christine C.

I'm updating my review on MaDee Thai because we ordered from this restaurant recently and it seems that it has improved. We really enjoyed the dishes and while the food here has always been good, it seemed like they tasted better than usual. One thing to note though is that this restaurant always takes their time to make the food so it can take 30 minutes to pick up your take out order. That said, it is worth the wait if they make the food fresh. All this dishes were flavorful. The Ka Pao is always delicious with lots of basil and garlic. The eggplant dish is also savory, but could be better with more eggplant. The Pad Thai was also better because the noodles weren't as dry and the Panang curry was tasty with a creamy flavor. Overall, we can always count on this place for solid Thai food.

When I want curry this is where I go! MaDee is always cooking. The musmun curry, panang & pad seeyou are my favorite

After driving past MaDee I finally had the chance to stop in to try their food but unfortunately it was nothing to write home about. My panang curry lacked flavor and it tasted very bland. However I have had worse and the portions were big enough for two.

The chicken wings to start were super delicious. I was impressed how crispy and juicy it was as well as flavors. The rice with the sauce that comes with it is addicting. 4.8/5. The Pad See Ew was probably one of the best in Costa Mesa. It had so much flavor it was ridiculous. 5/5. The haunaman fried rice (I think that's how you spell it) was next tier. The sweet sausage and umami flavors of the dish it was gone quick. 5/5. The pad Thai was sus at first. They don't do chicken. Just tofu and shrimp. I guess that's the "authentic" way of making it back in the motherland. I got it anyways and it did not disappoint. So good. 4.9/5. Overall I would come back here. You just need to make reservations because this place gets packed fast and people come in crowds.

We were fortunate to get a table outside and they provide heaters by the table. Wow!! The food was impeccable, the decoration on the food was nicely done, but the plates were pretty big. We barely had room on the table. We had to minimize what we had because we did not have room for a party of 6. The Moshi drinks were tasty, not too overly sweet. The staff members were welcoming. Tons of parking.

For reference, they open at 4:30 and when we got there at 4:45, there was already a 15-20 minute wait. While we were waiting, the list got filled up! We can hear people murmuring, "2 hour wait??" (You can get on the waitlist via Yelp). Hubbie and I were thankful to have gotten there early. Once inside, we were excited by their extensive menu. Everything sounded so authentic, we decided to explore out of our usual Pad Thai and Pad See Ew. We ordered their Thai Boat Noodle, Crying Tiger (ribeye steak), and a fish soup (can't remember the name). The best was their Thai boat noodle, hands down. It's almost like pho with a giant bone in short rib. Their crying tiger was delicious as well. The fish soup has an acquired taste, and pretty spicy even with the normal spice choice. The place is so cute! Clean, well managed, and with trendy decor. I love the spaciousness of the tables, doesn't feel too crowded. And even with a busy restaurant, their service is excellent. I am already studying the menu, and planning my next visit!

First night back in the OC and I received an email showcasing some of Yelp's newest restaurants in…read morethe OC. We had errands to run in Costa Mesa so we decided to check out Nai Tong. Still on soft opening mode so the menu was somewhat limited. The lovely owner Bew is so sweet and we learned that several members of her family has been in the restaurant industry in SoCal for a long time (from San Diego to LA and now OC). We ordered the following: * Fish cakes for appetizer, love the sauce that came with it. * Holy Basil with Crispy Pork Belly. This was full of flavor, and really love the sauce and everything that came with it. Definitely scored high on craveability. The only request I had which I relayed to the owner is - the pork belly was a little on the tough side. I made suggestions for them to try to remedy that. * Pad Thai with Shrimp was on point. Hubs enjoyed and devoured it in no time. * Thai Tea and Green Tea were on point as well. They have desserts coming soon that we cannot wait to try. I forgot to take pics of the menu so I took screenshots of menu from their website. Would definitely be back to support Bew at Nai Tong. Go check them out!!!

I visited this new thai restaurant in Costa Mesa with some friends and had a delicious dinner here…read more I ordered the Grilled Pork Neck as an appetizer, thai tea for my drink, and the Khao Kra Prao Crispy Duck for my entrée. All the food came out relatively quick and service was also friendly and the staff were checking in regularly for water refills and to ensure we were having a good meal. The thai tea was creamy and rich and one of the better ones I've had compared to most thai spots in the area. The grilled pork neck was tender and juicy and the included dipping sauce added some extra sweetness. The portion size was also good and easy to share. The Kra Prao Crispy Duck was absolutely delicious and one of my favorite thai dishes I had. The crispy duck was crunchy and had good flavor and the sauce mixed with the peppers and the crispy fried egg on the side with the rice made for a filling plate! Overall, my friends and I had a great dinner here and I would highly recommend checking out Nai Tong if you are in the area and want some amazing Thai food! There's plenty of seating inside and it's well-lit and they just recently opened, so it isn't too busy right now.

Well, I guess it was bound to happen. While my food adventures in OC have largely been successful,…read moreit was inevitable that I'd end up coming across a place that so many folks like that just didn't hit the mark for me. However, I never would've thought that place was going to be Siam Station. After hearing good things about their spot in Cupertino/the Bay Area from several friends, it felt rather fortuitous when we randomly came across their original location - and with no line in sight! Inside, they've got a cozy sort of vibe and it's cool how they have some outdoor tables set-up as well. As for the menu, it didn't seem all that extensive at a glance, but it has all of the staples you'd expect to find among their appetizers, soups, salads, fried rice, stir fried noodles, noodle soups, curry dishes, entrees, and desserts. -- ZESTY WINGS - Deep Fried Chicken Wings Topped with Crispy Basil and Served with Chili Sauce Easily our favorite dish of the night. The wings were really crispy on the outside and oh so juicy on the inside. Even though there wasn't much of the sauce, which was flavorful but not that spicy, it was fine - the wings were still great without it. -- KHAO SOI with Chicken - Yellow Curry Broth with Egg Noodles and Chicken and Served with Red Onions, Lime, and Pickles Ehh...this was okay, I guess. On the plus side, the chicken was tender and I thought the broth was pretty good - not the best I've had, but better than most. That said, I didn't love the egg noodles, especially the crispy ones after they had soaked up the broth. -- PAD KEE MOW (Drunken Noodles) with Crispy Pork - Flat Rice Noodles Stir Fried with Spicy Basil Garlic Sauce, Bell Peppers, Tomato, Sweet Onion, and Thai Basil I was super excited for this, but it was disappointing. The first thing we noticed was how pale it was and, sadly, the taste matched. Whether it be their garlic sauce or some chilis, this needed more. As for the pork, it was definitely crispy, but a few pieces bordered on dry/burnt. -- MANGO STICKY RICE A little hit, a little miss. The mango was fine (decently sweet, soft), but the sticky rice left us a little wanting. Mainly, I didn't love the glob of coconut cream, was it was pretty thick and viscous, which gave the rice a weird texture/coating to it. As far as service goes, it was uneventfully good. Although there was one point where it was hard to hail someone, it was mostly because the restaurant got increasingly busy and one of the servers was trying to help a group sort something out with their order. Otherwise, our food came out relatively quick and the workers were rather efficient with everything. Despite how we left feeling bummed out by our experience, it had more to do with being underwhelmed than the food actually being "bad". Admittedly, we came in with high hopes/expectations from all of the hype we had heard and it probably didn't help that we had gone to Manaao the night before, which is one of my favorite Thai restaurants anywhere. What's more, I wonder if we just didn't get the best that Siam Station has to offer. I certainly wouldn't be opposed to coming back to find out (and potentially writing an update), but perhaps I'll just try my luck at their spot in Cupertino that my friends like so much.
