Since it opened many years ago we visit Made in Asia maybe once a year every hopefully that the food and service have improved. Alas, it never ceases to disappoint at ever greater levels. This trip the Sushi rolls were even scarcer for protein than the meager rolls at Sushi King (or Rice King as I call it.) Never tried MIA before and after this experience, I will never go back. When I walked in to pick up my online order, I was surprised (and concerned) that at 5PM the restaurant was virtually empty. So, my first impression was of an empty restaurant at dinner time. The food (which is more expensive than the restaurant's competitors) was extremely disappointing as well. The coating on the General Tso chicken was thick and tough to eat (especially for my daughter with braces), the fried rice had huge chunks of onion, dried out peas, and was slightly mushy. My husband got the honey chicken--he's usually quite forgiving, but admits it lacked flavor. I am so sad we spent this much money on food we ended up throwing out. I order from MIA 2-3x per month and have been doing so for a few years. Tonight, my take out order was wrong. Not unusual however after walking out to my car, discovering my order was short on piece count per the menu and my previous experience. When I came back to let the staff know, a young woman from the back brought me the missing pieces, five min later, and then accused me of lying by saying she knew how many pieces she packed in the bag. When I challenged the statement of being accused of dishonest, the denial back and forth happened and was not conducive to incoming patrons. Last time I ever eat here again. I would give this place 0 stars if I could. The only good thing about this restaurant was the Plum Wine they served me. For a party of 9, we waited an hour and 20 minutes before our food was served to us. The servers all disappeared as soon as they left the table and you couldn't see them for about 15 minutes at least. The bartender was chatting away to other employees instead of making the drinks our table had ordered, resulting in waiting over 20 minutes for a drink when the bar was empty. The restaurant was severely slow for a Mother's Day Sunday, so imo, as someone who's worked in the restaurant bis before- is no excuse for how terrible the service was. Our appetizers came out 'fairly' quickly. But 5/9 of our entree's and rice were cold. The sushi was the only good thing that came out (which was what 4/9 people ordered). We asked for more peanut sauce - and they came back with a small can of peanut butter. Not peanut sauce. It took three trips to get a refill on our drinks because we kept reminding her every 15 minutes we saw her- and she just didn't come back with anything; just a sour mood towards us when we asked for things. There was another table who sat down about 10 minutes after us and ended up leaving after their appetizers because they were tired of waiting on their dishes. Again- this place was very slow. So there was 0 reason for any of the service to be as terrible as it was. I would NOT recommend this place at all- unless you're bored and want to expereince trash service and cold food. read more

Came here for sushi and left disappointed. The atmosphere here is fine (although the cushions at our booth were torn), but the food just didn't deliver. We ordered a variety of rolls and some soups and other apps. The gyoza was fine, nothing special. The kimchee was disappointingly bland. The soups were okay, again nothing to write home about. My real gripe, however, is about the sushi. The rolls we got had the kind of "fishy" smell and taste that fish gets if it sits out too long. Definitely not fresh. I didn't have it in me to finish our rolls. Also disappointing is their lack of non-alcoholic drink selections. For a place that brands itself as having Thai food, they don't have the kind of drink options that Thai restaurants generally offer, like Thai iced coffee. All in all, I might come back here and give their noodle and curry options a try, but it's a no on the sushi. read more

I went there this weekend with 2 friends. The atmosphere was delightful. We were immediately greeted by our waitress Breanna. We ordered Summer Rolls and Crab Rangoon. The appetizers came in a timely manner and were very delicious. We loved the peanut sauce for the rolls and the plum sauce for the crab was light and sweet. We liked that you could order the level of heat added to your meal individually. Our meals were 2 Chicken Pad Thai and Octopus. The food quality was notable and very satisfying. There were such large portions - we had some delicious leftovers to remember our adventure eating here. I will be recommending this restaurant to my friends. read more

Take-out review for their sushi rolls: Husband just brought home Spicy Tuna and Spicy Salmon roll and I swear...this sushi just added 10 years to our lives!!! (Sorry I didn't think to add a photo! When I found out Made In Asia had a variety of Asian dishes, I had to check it out myself! It may be a bit confusing at first coming in. I went to the back door and realized I parked in the back and had to find parking in front of the restaurant. Upon entering, this restaurant gives off a modern decor look from the black wall and white decor. They serve Japanese food, mainly sushi, Thai dishes, and Chinese! Just a little bit of everything which is a nice touch of this restaurant. I ordered the fried rice expecting them to give me a small portion but it was a lot! Enough to share with three people. Surprisingly it was flavored just right and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I saw that they had bang bang shrimp and I decided to order one too. Unfortunately, this dish wasn't good and I can definitely taste too much mayonnaise being put into this. It just didn't balance right and I just had better elsewhere. Overall: The dark decor was nice, and they do give large portions, but some dishes didn't fall through enough to give this place more stars. My experience here was okay. It might be fine for the Chesterfield native, cosmo-ordering crowd, but when compared against what's in the area and the basic things that you're getting wrong, it's generous. Temperatures are all off. Sushi was made with rice that hadn't been allowed to cool, so the fish was all warm. The person preparing it was alone, so it makes sense that it was rushed. Tamago (egg) sushi was insanely cold, hard, and plastic-like. Easiest thing for a sushi chef to prep is tamago. Don't be lazy and buy it in. Whoever is cutting the fish isn't paying attention to the "grain" of the muscle, and is just cutting straight through it. It's the prep work isn't being done properly. Give him help, teach him how to do it right. read more

The menu is quite extensive that may be overwhelming to a patron, but I guarantee that they would find something they love. I've eaten here on a weekly basis and not once did I not enjoy a meal or drink. Everything is delicious! What I find important in small businesses is consistency and this is what Made in Asia has. Although as some would say it can be pricey, the generous portion of the food is well worth paying for. Many items are prepared in house, food arrives hot, sushi is fresh, they also have excellent options of craft beer on draft that rotates quite often. I highly recommend Made in Asia for a great dining experience, you won't be disappointed! read more

The order I placed was steamed dumplings and their dipping sauce was bleh. I also ordered hot and sour soup. Awful looking and tasting. Traded it in for wonton soup. Service was iffy. I realize it is Christmas Eve but we were a party of 4 at 4:30. A few issues with our order: no brown rice for 2 people. The triple delight had very tough beef on one plate and to me this was not a traditional Asian restaurant. I'm new to the area and I'm greatly disappointed in the service, food and overall product. The only thing I enjoyed was the spring roll but not the sauce. Too much peanut butter. We ordered the three roll special and not a single roll did either of us like. Love the convenience of having sushi (and sashimi), Thai food, and Chinese all in one place; however, always check your order for carry out as they have forgotten or given the wrong order a couple of times. They did offer to correct mistakes and even gave a refund on the incorrect part of the order. Additionally, some of the menu descriptions online were incorrect (I believe it was the Susa platter and sushi entree?) but it seems as they have since corrected the mistakes. Pricing is slightly on the high side compared to other sushi and Thai take out we had with little difference in quality, but again it's pretty convenient in terms of offerings and location. read more

I inquired about applying the military discount to my order in which is usually honored. She argued back and forth with me about it and told me y'all are getting on my nerves today. Not to mention the amount of sliced carrots in this dish! I got cheated on the chicken because of the abundance of potatoes and carrots and lack of the meat. The spring roll appetizer was ok, they were greasy and not crisp. The dipping sauce was actually quite tasty and I poured the rest onto my rice. My husbands meal the Pad See Ew with beef was on the dry side. They used not as wide noodles and there was a lack of sauce on his dish. And their prices were really high, altogether this cost $33. Finding this place was a scavenger hunt using a mix of Yelp and Google. In fact, we only found it when I had given up and started looking for a place to eat. It was across the street and a good quarter mile from where it was pinned on Google. Glad we found it though. We entered through the back entrance, passing the restrooms along the way. The narrow corridor opened up into a subtle contemporary environment. It was pleasant and conveyed the feel of an upscale restaurant. Upon receiving our drinks, we also received chips that were typical and only served as an interlude to our appetizer, Spring Rolls. The Spring rolls, along with the duck sauce served with them were tasty, although not perfectly cooked. For our main courses, my wife had the M.I.A. Curry Fried Rice, my son chicken fried rice and I, the General Tso's Chicken. Interestingly, I've listed them in order of goodness, from least to most. The M.I.A. Curry Fried Rice, which had a nice list of ingredients, but not an equivalent flavor. On the other end of the spectrum was the General Tso's Chicken. It was very well prepared at medium intensity. With the dish, you have the choice of brown or white rice. I selected the former and was rewarded with a side that was somewhat sweet tasting and went well with the main course. We visited here on the recommendation of folks here and we weren't disappointed. The next time we're in this part of town and hankering for Chinese, we will certainly visit here again. read more
