If you're in Newburyport, I highly recommend breakfast at Mad Martha's! Do note they have a weird schedule so definitely call ahead to ensure they're open. It's a small and adorable little breakfast shack located on scenic plum island. There is a bar with maybe 8 stools and 7 or so tables. You may have to wait a bit so be prepared!! The food is a 10/10 as always. What we got: - corned beef hash and eggs - homemade and delish!!! Must get. - carmelized banana French toast - will give your sweet tooth a run for it's money! - also their hash browns are out of this world. Definitely go here and enjoy an amazing breakfast! I'll be back!!!

    Friendly with a gorgeous smile!

We were on our way from Boston to Portland and decided to stop at this unique brunch spot on the way. We had to wait about 30 minutes but the gal took our number and texted us when a table was ready so we were able to drive to the lighthouse while waiting. The vibe is so unique with the large kitchen behind the bar. It's like you're in someone's home and they are whipping up something delicious for you. My 7-year old enjoyed the bowl of candy on the counter while we waited for our food- hey, we are on vacation, so why not? She also took a picture of our attractive cook- what a gorgeous smile! We had the Portuguese French toast, shrimp burrito, BAT grilled cheese, Salmon Getaway, some bacon and home fries. It was all incredible!!! This dive is worth the wait- even my kids agreed and kids are always so impatient. :)

An absolute MUST when visiting PI!! Not a bad thing on the menu! Can't wait for next year's annual visit :)

These two women always make you feel like part of the family! The colorful island decor is really fun. Don't miss the specials! We have been going for years and still find something new and delicious to try. This time is was the Island Breakfast Bowl--and she was happy to make it vegetarian for me! The coconut fried rice was delicious!

It's right on the beach with a clear view of the ocean. The windows flip open and must be amazing in the summer months (I think someone posted a photo of the building here). Its a comfortable place to hang out for a little while and the people here are nice. I'll be back again before they close for the season. I highly recommend you give them a try!

They also claim to be a sort of community gathering center. The coffee was ok! Local-ish Fazenda coffee. The lack of customer service was insane. There were staff available but I waited for a while at the counter for someone to notice me and take my order. I spent around $25 for 2 items, am injured with difficulty walking, and they wouldn't let me use the bathroom, hinting that they had one but not "for the public". Instead they directed me to a public restroom down the road with 4 stalls for hundreds of people at the beach. The açaí was good though. I guess you have to weigh the pros and cons.

We are so glad we popped in and gave it a go. Parking is decent, but on street and not plentiful. We were lucky to snag a spot right out front. This spot isn't wheelchair accessible and can only be entered via stairs. The inside is absolutely stunning! There are beautiful lights strung everywhere and children's artwork hung all over one of their walls. There is no seating inside, however there are a couple of benches outside, along with a Little Free Library and a water bowl for pups. The drinks and food are delightful! We both got a bacon, egg, and cheese on a plain bagel. I loved that we could choose between cheddar or American cheese for the breakfast sandwich and that they actually cook their bacon pretty well (not flimsy and translucent like some places). My husband got a mocha latte which wad delicious and I got a hot chocolate which was flavorful and pleasantly unique tasting from other places. Lastly, we grabbed a few baked goods: A Nutella Swirl Tea Cake, a Brownie Cookie, and a Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie. The tea cake was very flavorful and both the cookies blew us away! It's hard to find brownie cookies or chocolate chip cookies with brown butter these days, so we were excited to see them offered here. Overall the experience here was wonderful and even though the line was out the door, we were in and out in under 10 minutes! There are plenty of beautiful spots closeby to enjoy your drinks and treats, which is a plus. We will definitely be back to try more of the offerings, especially the themed sugar cookies they offer.

All 3 of us ordered the egg sandwich. It's cooked egg (like a puck) on 2 slices of plain bread with about 1 teaspoon of cheese that is such a small amount that it doesn't cover most of the egg. That's it. Not enough cheese, no butter, no salt, no pepper. Nothing. They don't even toast the bread. If we had tasked our 6 year old nephew to making us egg sandwiches, this is what he would hand us. My cousins had coffee. One hot and the other cold. Hot reportedly is pretty good and the iced is not very strong. I ordered an iced tea. When iced tea is made fresh from actual tea (a good thing), then sits in the fridge for 6 or 7 days (a bad thing), it gets a very distinctive stale taste and that's exactly what this iced tea had. It was old and stale. I threw it away and since the egg sandwich was so dry, I pulled a bottle of water I had in my beach tote to wash it down. My cousin asked the friendly staffer (super friendly, actually, so a shout out to them) for some salt and this turned into a task. She had to ask someone else and that person had to go off somewhere to get some from a plastic container. If you're going to serve unseasoned food, have salt available, please. I ordered a croissant, which was OK and my other cousin ordered a blueberry slab dessert that was smothered in so much icing that it was sickeningly sweet. We joked that eying it from the side, the icing was thicker than the pastry itself. One of us grabbed a knife and tried to scrape some off to no avail. It fell apart, none of us wanted any more and we tossed most of it. I like to support small businesses, but this was not a good experience for us.

We both ordered the Brazilian cheese bread sandwich, not because of the GF, but because we loved the little cheese bread balls that we had while visiting friends in Brazil. I ordered with the hash browns, which turned out to be REAL potato made here, not a Mc-patty pulled from the freezer. Great seasoning and perfectly cooked. The sandwich had a little spinach, well cooked egg (not too runny, but maybe a hint more than needed), and smoky bacon on a split cheese bread "roll." It was super hot when served; I finished almost all of my potato before I could eat it - no complaints on temperature. The flavor was really good - and unique. My only concerns were that the bacon was "tough" so that a bite tended to pull out the whole strip. It wasn't bad, but maybe a crispy bacon would bite more cleanly. The other issue, and really the only significant one, was the density of the cheese bread. I expected something similar to the cheese bread balls, which have a texture similar to a good Italian bread (not the squishy supermarket kind). This was almost solid. We've made the cheese bread balls at home, with good success, so I'll try the different shape - maybe for burgers! - and see if it's a challenge. I'll come back to explain if the experiment to make fluffier buns is not successful. Meanwhile, the place filled up and some of the other menu items looked really good. We're very likely to go back for a lunch.
