I waited a few days to write this review so I could reflect on my experience instead of solely basing my review off of heated disappointment. Let me begin by saying the atmosphere of the store was best described as abandoned. No one at the front to greet and no patrons. There was no music or sound at all in the entire restaurant which was a little creepy but it was late so we figured it was close to close (they didn't close for five hours we later found out). When we got our food we were incredibly disappointed, one hot dog was missing key components and the elote was true crime to humanity. I genuinely don't know how you can be a business in Houston and not know how to make a elote. It had almost no Mayo on it and had Parmesan cheese....they also had some toppings listed as options (specifically the pickled red onions which were a main part of the brisket dog) which they were out of stock of. The attendant told us specifically "we don't have that at this location". The saving grace of the meal were the bottled beverages which were incredible, but also entirely not of the establishment and I don't want to credit them with another businesses hard earned rave review. Overall we are rarely disappointed by hot dogs, an item in and of itself which is hard to mess up. Now looking at other yelp reviews it seems we aren't the only ones who were expecting a little more. We won't make a repeat visit, but hopefully the business can attempt to fix some things for other patrons in the future. read more

My husband has these "craving cycles" where he'll fall in love with a restaurant, crave it weekly, then eventually move on to the next thing. Lately, we've both been thrilled that Mad Dog has stuck around longer than usual in his rotation--until now, that is. We used to love the hot dogs from their Memorial/Wilcrest location, but after the recent opening of their Midtown spot, we're so disappointed we've completely removed them from our list. Here's the thing: The hot dogs were always fantastic. We'd order the Elote Hot Dog--loaded with toppings and sauce--and the Spicy Link, which had the perfect snappiness and a balanced bite. The toppings were never too much; they added to the flavor without overwhelming the hot dog itself, and the sauces were never too soggy. The Styrofoam containers were perfect for keeping everything intact while allowing the hot dog to breathe. But ever since Uber switched us to ordering from the Midtown location (due to proximity), everything has gone downhill. The hot dogs now arrive wrapped in paper, and the mess is unbearable. The toppings, especially the corn and sauces, get stuck to the paper, leaving you with nothing but a soggy, flattened mess when you unwrap it. The bread is squished, the toppings are all over the place, and it's just not the same experience anymore. Worse, the flavor doesn't make up for the terrible presentation. It's no longer the crave-worthy hot dog we used to look forward to. I don't understand why they made this change. It feels like a cost-saving measure that sacrificed the quality and enjoyment of the meal. It's one of those situations where the old saying applies: If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Unfortunately, this change has completely ruined the experience for us. We're done with Mad Dog, and I'd suggest you look elsewhere to satisfy your cravings. read more

So the Mr was in the mood for chili cheese dogs and had googled places that sell them near us and this place popped up. We initially thought it was a brick and mortar but soon realized that it was a food truck. The menu is pretty basic smash burgers, a few different chili dog options and loades fries. We stepped up to the kiosk in front ordered the chili cheese dog, loaded fries, and double smash burger combo person at window said it would be about 10-15 minutes it actually turned out to be 30+ minutes, they were getting constant pick up orders so we thought this place has to be good. We got our food and decided to eat there. Our food was lukewarm(very disappointing) the burger wasn't seasoned well (I would assume they rely on their special sauce) the fries were somewhat soggy. The loaded fries were actually hot. The chili was mediocre. We had sat there eating and the manager/owner walked out and asked how was it we told him it was cold and handed him the whole burger I wasn't going to eat and he apologized and made me a new one and said they had got bombarded he was very apologetic. The new HOT burger was better still not alot of seasoning though. We won't be in a rush to go back but we are willing to give it another go solely on customer service and the willingness to make it RIGHT. They were getting alot of business though.. read more

Came here for grabbing a quick lunch on a Friday, when I didn't see much else in the area I wanted to go to when I was in the area. Ordering was at one of the few kiosks at the Blodgett Food Hall. I actually picked Mad Dogs out of the maybe 20 "restaurants", because I didn't feel like having the other ones today. I picked the $12 specials with the Elote dog with a spicy sausage and fries (turned out to be just saving a few taps, no price difference if order separately, in case you need a different side). My order was ready in less than 10 mins, so it's fast food. A lady called for my name and the food was handed to me at the window. I sat at one of the high table and ate my meal. Presentation was nice, I guess it's made for pictures, but cameras don't eat, I do. The hot dog was sliced on top but not all the way, and stuffed with elote corn. A lot of the corn just fell out when I was eating. I'd suggest to have the hot dog slice all the way so it could hold the corn better. I did not taste any spiciness in my hot dog at all - not sure if the spicy hot dog is just mild, or they gave me the wrong one. Anyways, fries. It's crispy and decent, but it's the quantity in a small Burger King fries. As a whole, not a big meal (i.e. if I'm really hungry I would have to order an extra fries or hot dog). I can definitely see how the meal may go south if I ordered to-go/delivery and the food had to wait for a half hour. Overall, OK price for the amount of tasty food I was getting. read more

I love this place! I don't get the mixed reviews. Everything I've ordered, and even the mistaken items delivered, have all been utterly delicious. My go to is the Double Smashburger w/added jalapenos YUMMMM; the Mad Sauce is so flavorful and absolutely makes the burgers soar above any competing "smashburger" out there. I usually get the Loaded Smash Fries w/my burger or dog and it's always enough for two meals. I also like the Mad Dog, the Elote Dog, the Chopped Cheese Dog, and the Chopped Cheese Fries. Their Dublin Orange soda is tasty too. I can't say I've ever been disappointed in a meal from here. Once in a blue moon I can tell they were slammed because my order may not arrive 'looking like a fine presentation' but the food is always GOOD - like lick your fingers good!! Food was cold although I wait about 15 minutes for it to be made. I ordered 2 mad dogs (looked nothing like the photo) a 1 double patty smash burger, 1 order of fries and 2 bottled sodas. There is 1 staff member for the whole place to "interact" with, which was VERY rude. All of the orders are placed online, you pay online. Then you wait for your order. Once your order is ready, they put it in a locker you scan your phone. It gives you a code and you pick up the food. However, I heard her speaking with someone else telling them. My food was ready. I told her I tried getting my food and it still said it was eight minutes for it to be ready. She just kept telling me to scan my phone. And again it said, my food was not ready when I know it was.
