Blueberry Cheesecake Bingsu
Holley Janae P.

After dinner in Chinatown, I stopped into Sul Bing Su for dessert! I'm from Dallas, so I haven't yet found a Houston equivalent for the amazing bingsu places in Carrollton. However, I thought this place satisfied that craving well! My husband and I split a small blueberry cheesecake bingsu. It comes with a small scoop of vanilla icecream on top. The small was plenty to share (although we could have stuffed ourselves with more)! Our order was prepared quickly and we absolutely demolished the bowl in about 5 minutes. There were also plenty of seating options as the store is very spacious.

Solid dessert spot in Bellaire area. Lots of large seating inside and quick service. We usually order 2 large bingsoo's for 4 people. We ordered: - injeolmi bingsoo: if you like nutty and red bean flavors I highly recommend. Really like the mochi on this and not as sweet as some of the other options. Milk base. Personally my favorite flavor. - fresh strawberry bingsoo: usually on the sweeter side, they put a lot of condensed milk on this. Lot of strawberries and also a milk base. Very sweet but refreshing.

First time visiting here after seeing how it always looks crowded. We only ordered the Mango Cheesecake Bingsu and was not too impressed with the overall experience. It looked nice, but for the price, I was hoping for a little more quality. The ice cream was vanilla flavored, and the ice itself wasn't as fluffy and smooth as shaved ice usually is. There were also some smaller ice chunks here and there which made the ice seem heavy and rough. I do appreciate the sweetness level (not too sweet) and that their ingredient to ice ratio was pretty balanced though. Parking is usually available outside or nearby, but once you walk inside, it's a little messy and dirty. I understand they have a lot of traffic especially on the weekends, but the floors were full of crumbs and lots of trash, and the tables weren't clean too. I would consider trying other things on their menu during a less busy time of the day or on a weekday in the future.

We haven't been back here for a while. My kids like coming for the mochi donut & Korean corn dogs. We noticed they have some new stuff. There were some Cream Filled Donut Mango cream $4.75 4/5 stars & Strawberry cream $4.75 4/5 stars & Oreo Cream $4.75 4/5 stars. Potato mozzarella dog $5.49 4.5/5. 3 x Mochi Donut (chocolate, matcha, & strawberry) $9 4/5 stars.

I really enjoyed everything we had. The Korean shaved ice and ice cream was great and definitely shareable. The biscoff was great. I really enjoyed the strawberry pastry I had, the lemon one was great too. The cream wasn't too sweet.

Good pick for Dessert. I didn't realize there were so many options here: Korean corn dogs, mochi donuts, bing su, tang hu lu, and taiyaki. We opted for the Bing Su and Tang Hu Lu this visit and boy was it PACKED! Although the shop was packed, the line moved quickly and there was more than enough seating for the crowd. The Bing Su was delicous - not too sweet, just the way I like it. As my first time having Tang Hu Lu, I can't say that its my favorite, but its not bad either. The coating of sugar encasing the fruit isn't distributed evenly. Some parts of the sugar are thick, making chunks of sugar stick to your teeth like a jolly rancher and just way too sweet. But the other parts of the shell where the sugar encapsulates the fruit in a thin coat is perfect!! If they could nail this down, I'd order this everytime. I highly reccomend this dessert shop. There's plenty of space, quick service, good food, wide variety, and it's super casual and family-friendly. Love seeing little neighboor favourites such as this.

I almost always end up here after dinner in the Chinatown area. No matter how stuffed I feel beforehand, I can always fit some bingsu. It's not overly sweet and perfectly airy like snow. What I like about the menu here is the variety. Not only can you get bingsu with assorted toppings, they also have the Korean corn dogs, drinks (tea, milk tea, brown sugar boba), mochi doughnuts, tanghulu, soft serve ice cream, and the viral Korean kream doughnuts. Prices are very reasonable that you can try multiple things on each visit. Although it's usually packed, the line moves fast and I've always been able to find a seat. Because it draws a younger crowd, it's pretty loud in there but they do announce order numbers over the speaker system which is very helpful. Employees are always nice and efficient.

I've been there a couple of times and they tend to rotate their desserts based on what current food that is happening. In this review, I will be talking about their stable, shaved ice. We got a mango strawberry shaved ice with some whipped cream on top . The shaved ice is made with something along the lines of condensed milk and cream and water. The taste impact comes from your toppings. The staff was quick but the tables need some help cleaning. They're a bit wobbly too. There's a lot of space for people to come and hang out while eating sweets. Parking is free and out front.

I had this place bookmarked to try as I was wanting a K-Dog and was near the area. It's kind of tucked to the side of the building but surrounded by so many other restaurants and cafes in the Chinatown area. So one wouldn't probably notice it from the street. Good thing I had it bookmarked though! I was able to park directly infront of the door and walk in. There wasn't a long line as I looked at their menu and desserts before getting in line. So they sell the variety Korean corndogs, different types of donuts/mochinut, cream filled donuts, shaved ice like their Bing Su and more. I was excited to see that this location offered the sweet potato batter/coating and the cheddar cheese wrapped around a sausage option. Plus they have the dip station where you can get your own sauce/dip/toppings. They even had free cheese dip. While I waited on my K-Dog, I tried one of their candied grapes called Tang Hu Lu and their Yuzu (lemon) cream filled donut. That Tang Hu Lu was probably my favorite dessert!! It tasted like a cotton candy glaze over the grape that just burst into flavor when you bite. The Yuzu (lemon) cream donut was delicious and sweet too but those Tang Hu Lu grapes stole the show. For my K-Dog, I got their sweet potato half & half, which was half mozzarella cheese and half beef sausage Korean style (with sugar sprinkled on top). This is my favorite order of a of K-Dog! Their corn dog was definitely larger than some of the other companies I've tried. It was very delicious and fulfilling! I enjoyed it with and without my dip! The mozzarella cheese was pulling! This restaurant offers alot to choose from for the whole family and friends. Plenty of seating options too. The only thing they don't offer is Apple Pay/Tap to pay. So have your physical card or cash ready! Great price points too! Nonetheless, I would highly recommend checking them out for your favorite Asian/Korean food, snacks and desserts.

I've been here many times for the Korean corn dogs. They're so tasty. Crispy on the outside with that chewy rice-flour batter. I like a half n-half, rolled in Hot Cheetos. What brought me in yesterday was the cream filled donuts that have gone viral on IG! These are absolutely awesome. I couldn't believe it. They're huge! I ordered the strawberry cream and the chocolate chip cream.

We spent the day in Chinatown and Sul Bing Su was at last stop on our agenda. It did not disappoint! The restaurant was clean and inviting. We arrived before a big rush and was able to ask questions about the menu which the employees were happy to answer and explain what was what. We ended up ordering a mochi donut, milk ice cream, mango bing su, Oreo bing su, fruit kabob and two Korean donuts! Everything was thoroughly enjoyed by my family of 5. We will definitely be repeat customers!

DELICIOUS strawberry tanghulu
Taylor C.

A popular spot for bing su and Korean hot dogs! But I came solely for the tanghulu after many failed attempts at making it at home! Decent parking but it gets busy in the area, tons of great places nearby and Hmart, so it can be hard to get parking at times. I was in and out of here. Fast service and my strawberry tanghulu disappeared in minutes. Soooo delicious!!! In my opinion, due to how sweet they are, one order is plenty!! They can be a bit messy so maybe bring a wet wipe. Will be back to get bing su for suuure!

Tanghulu (fruit coated in melted sugar)
Sean K.

Fairly solid Korean dessert place. The seating is quite ample, and the place is bigger than you think. We ordered the tanghulu which is basically fruit covered in melted sugar. It's like eating candy! Quite delicious if you're a sweet tooth. We also got a large mango shaved ice. The mango was not ripe but it was still a treat. The shaved ice has the consistency of snow and it's definitely not "icy". Beware though - it's pretty expensive and should be shared with at least 3 people. Service was fine and the desserts came out quickly. Overall it was a good experience and we'll be back for more.

Knafeh ($6) - They offered 2 types of knafeh, one with cheese and one with custard. I went with the one made with Nabulsi cheese and topped with shredded phyllo, and soaked in sugar syrup. It was warm, crispy and delicious! Karak tea ($5) - This milk tea drink was made with aromatic spices, primarily cardamom, cloves, ginger and cloves. I was happy to see they used whole milk instead of evaporated milk. The drink was incredibly rich and creamy and tasted great. Turkish delight ($18 / lb.) - This was extremely fresh, soft and chewy, made with cornstarch, sugar, nuts. Some of the varieties I tried had chocolate and/or fruits. The baklava here was fresh made with layers of phyllo dough, chopped nuts, and held together with some honey. The nut offerings here included, almonds, walnuts, peanuts and a few more. Overall I was impressed with everything they offered here with the exception of the nuts, which I thought were just ok. I'd definitely return if I was in the area.

Also got a bag of chocolates, which are weighed by the pound. The only qualm I have is that the chocolates are not labeled, so when you mix them all together, it truly is a bit of a Russian roulette on what you'll get. Everything was super yummy. I felt the most interesting items were the French pastries as they are cute and tasty as well. Also, they plate the pastries nicely when you dine in as an added bonus. I tried the Chocolate Royale and the Ruby. Chocolate Royale - a petit chocolate mouse slice with flat chocolate panels along the sides. It is delicate and tasty. Ruby - visually this looks like a strawberry Hershey kiss, with red powder on the exterior and a top piece of foil to resemble foil on the wrapper of a hershey kiss. Since we were already in the area after breakfast at TJ's Filipino Cuisine, we finally got the chance to stop by and try their baked goods for ourselves. We arrived early, so the bakery wasn't too busy yet. The bakers were busy prepping more goodies in the back while my cousin and I browsed all the Filipino baked goods we really miss from back home in the Philippines. They even had suman, sapin-sapin, biko, and other kakanin, which was nice to see. I specifically looked for the chicken empanada, and my cousin wanted to try the ube white chocolate chip cookie. We also saw different kinds of siopao and planned to come back later to buy some before heading back to San Antonio. We tried the ube white chocolate chip cookie first, but honestly we weren't totally satisfied. It tasted more like a regular white chocolate chip cookie with purple coloring and didn't really have much ube flavor. I also tried the chicken empanada. My cousin didn't like it because it was sweeter than expected--we were both expecting it to be savory. There seemed to be caramelized sugar in the outside of the pastry, which probably added to the sweetness. I still like it, though it was definitely sweeter than what I'm used to. Red Ribbon's chicken empanada is still my favorite. Later that day before leaving Houston, we came back for the siopao we planned to take home. We finally decided to just buy a couple pieces for ourselves, heat them up in the bakery, and try them fresh. When we saw the price for a four-pack, we were honestly disappointed. It felt expensive for the size. The siopao wasn't huge, and while I like the dough, there wasn't much chicken filling inside. For the portion, taste, and quality, it felt overpriced. Overall, it's probably not worth making another trip back for us. We did enjoy the cassava ube suman, and I like the chicken empanada, but not enough to drive all the way to Houston just for those. If I live nearby, I might come back to try other baked goods, but based on this visit, I'm not sure the rest would impress my palate. I still give them credit for cleanliness and customer service, although we did notice fruit flies on one of the shelves and reported it. The staff was friendly, and the bakery itself was welcoming. At the end of the day, since they're a bakery, the expectation is great-tasting, quality, mouthwatering Filipino breads, pastries ", and kakanin. While some items were enjoyable, overall it just didn't quite live up to the hype for us.
