I'm on a shopping binge and was very excited about Macy's' Extra Special Sale + 20% off in-store savings pass. The bf and I went to the mall just for Macy's and for some reason, today was the first time I realized how terrible the merchandise is at Macy's. The purses were hideous and the clothes were matronly, cheap looking, and unflattering. The suit section was particularly bad and the sweaters were all waiting to be purchased for an ugly sweater holiday party. It was chaotic and a tad messy but regardless we had the best customer service experience. Justin helped us find everything we were looking for. He was calm and patient and extremely helpful. I have been in this Macy's for the past 45 minutes trying to do a simple return, but the managers kept telling me to go to another register. I'm writing about the men's section. This place is great for sportswear, casualwear, formalwear and things like watches or cologne. Whenever you pass next to the fragrance department, you should expect A LOT of perfume samples. Despite the fact that this is an average Macy's, I found that the customer service is a lot more helpful than other stores. If only they had a Big & Tall section, I would give it 5 stars. read more

I purchased the new Lancome Face lotion and it made me break out really bad. I tried to return it but the Lancome Manager did not want to take it back because she said it was more than 50% used. I think this is poor customer service on the managers behalf. I purchase other items from Lancome and have never had such a bad time returning an item back. Dont shop at this Lancome Department. I would say this store is always attract me even when I would not want to buy anything. Last time that I went there, there is an intelligent seller that she finally knows how to convince me to buy 3 perfumes that indeed I don't need them. Although, I like their products since they have lower price in compared to other stores, I will try to do not visit it next time. Follow-up on Mattress issue: Just received a call from a person (John Olmstead) who said he was the West Covina Store Manager. After listening to the story again, he said it was the sales reps fault, but that Macy's cant (or won't) do anything to rectify the situation...See below for more: Consumers beware. I bought a (top of the line) mattress and box springs from the Macy's in West Covina CA and had it delivered and set up.. Two weeks after I bought it, one side of the mattress collapsed in the middle. I called Macy's several times and it took them months to send someone out. After 4 months someone was scheduled to come out and examine the mattress. The technician saw the indentation and made a note of it (after measuring the depression and taking numerous pictures). I was told that Macy's would get a hold of me. I was patient and waited no calls were made to me by Macy's. I finally called Macy's and I was told the claim had been denied. The reason...I abused the mattress by sitting on the side. The Mattress are not designed to be sat on. My question is how do you get into and out of bed without sitting on it. I mean are you supposed to levitate in and out of bed to avoid the side...I tried to challenge the abuse claim but the Macy's representative now said that the warranty has run out on the Mattress. The only reason the warranty ran out was because Macy's customer service lacked the quick response (actually no response really from Macy's). I was then told that I could come down and buy a new mattress for full price. It took Macy's over a full month to deliver the mattress (bed). I actually had my Macy's charge card paid off before the mattress was delivered. It then to over 5 months for them to provide the customer service to act on the mattress defect. Buy a new mattress for full price, I think I'll look around at other retailers, since Macy's will not stand behind their products. In the meantime I'll use pillows to keep me from rolling out of a Macy's mattress. read more

Wow. Macy's has gone down big time. I can't remember the last time I actually shopped here but this'll certainly be my last. Firstly, the selection was very poor and whatever they did have was a mixed up mess, I'm talking 24 mos mixed with 5t mixed with 13's. If you're a parent, you'll realize this is just stupid. I was looking for a birthday dress for my daughter and luckily we found something but that's where the luck ends. We proceeded to the girls section register where we waited for 12 minutes while the cashier chatted up he customer about nonsense, didn't even acknowledge those of us waiting in line. After realizing the conversation was not ending soon, I asked the cashier if there was another register open; she directed me to the boys section. There we go to the boys section and of course, another slow moving line and another 15 minutes. When I finally got to the register the girl didn't apologize for the wait and she barely knew what she was doing. Midway through my transaction, a customer decides this is the perfect time to ask where she can find particular items and my cashier decides to stop my transaction to answer. At this point, my Latina blood was boiling and I'm no masochist so tongue biting is foreign to me so I interjected and said "I'm sorry, honey but I've been waiting almost 30'minutes and there is a line so please just finish ringing me up" I have her no choice so she proceeded to finish up my transaction. The other lady wasn't happy but ask me if I give a damn. Summarily, this place needs a revamp and some serious customer service training. I'll pay the extra cash and mosey on down to N's where they treat me like the royalty that I wish I was. read more

This has to be the nicest and most friendly Macy's I have EVER been to, and I live in one of the richest cities in California. Ours is shit and the people suck! Who would have thought West Covina was that hip? So CLEAN! I don't think I passed an employee that didn't say hello or ask me how I'm doing. My husband was using the men's restroom in this macys and a woman that cleans the restroom, held the door open and stood inside texting while he finished going to the restroom, we felt it was very rude, she could have had the courtesy to wait outside and not text on the job. read more

This used to be a good mall 20 years ago! Macys came in bought out competition and gradually the great choices you had are gone now. The employee's that were great long gone, or transfered. This Macy's seems to have a lot rude/uppity sales associates. I was browsing through the shoe department yesterday and wasn't even asked once if I needed any assistance, even though there were a bunch of sales associates just standing around the register. The MAC counter here also isn't very welcoming or friendly. Bratz dolls, please. Nobody was trying to look drag today anyway. I came to this location bcuz I'm moving near the area and they were having a huge weekend sale, I decided to open a Macy's credit card because they were adding an additional 20% off my purchase on top of the 30% deal. My fiancé and I purchased around 250.00 dollars worth of merchandise, with all the deals we spent less than 100.00. The reason I didn't give 5 stars they still had an advertised sale on display, but would not honor it because they said it ended an hour from then. Lost my keys down the elevator shaft, and did it the Friday night of memorial day weekend, they worked with my wife to come up with a solution to get me my keys back, although they couldn't get them for me Friday night but they promised me Tuesday, and sure enough my wife picked them up on Tuesday. They even made my wife describe the keys to ensure they were giving them to the right person. That's good customer service in my book. read more

GIFT CARD BUYERS BEWARE! Macys has been having an issue with some internal fraud with gift cards. Someone is stealing gift card numbers and using them. I had a $200 gift card that I tried to use but it was cashed out. The manager at the SF location claims she saw this same problem happen 2 months ago. Fortunately the person that gave me the gift card saved the receipt so we could prove we didnt use it elsewhere. The gift card I received was issued in Arcadia and cashed out in Riverside. My concern is once the back is scratched you can't prove or disprove you didn't spend the cash yourself. My fatty recommendation is to stop using macy's gift card services because they can't keep their shit safe. It took over an hour to get a new card reissued. Buy these gift cards at your own risk. Macy's has lots of nice things including tons of little boutiques. I signed up for a Macy's reward card (hope it get's approved), but the process of doing so was kind of long and somewhat irritating. The benefits of having a card is good though. I also got a two free sample packets from Shiseido which was nice and you can even get a free facial massage which I plan on doing. I was also able to find out how much money was on an old Macy's card I had as well a Robinson May's card (which took awhile, but at least this time I was able to find amount and transfer it to another card). read more
