Im not but my mom is, apparently that wont work. she tells me 3 min and i can sign up free of charge just get rewards and discounts. so i said ok 10 min later after a list of personal questions such as social security number and annual sallery she asks for my debit card, i said ok sceptically. another 5 min later she tells me itll be 2 weeks before i can be approved as a member so no discounts today... soo she told me 3 min would get me 20% off in reality it took 15 min and will take another 2 weeks for any discounts.. to top it off, she never mentioned that it was a credit card she was signing me up for she told me it was a rewards card.. Men's department skews ghetto. Absolute worst place to find professional/office wear. Shirt selection appeals to pimps and Batman villains. Who's buying this stuff? Finding a decent cotton dress shirt with a pocket and no logo on it seems impossible. My girlfriend and I were watch shopping for her birthday today. She was interested in the new Michael Kors smart watch so naturally we went to the Michael Kors store in the Santa Rosa plaza, they did not have the one she wanted in stock so we decided to check Macy's. We found the watch we were looking for at Macy's and she was very excited of course. Her excitement was short lived because as we were looking at the watches the woman selling the watches came up to us staring at us as if we were going to try and steal something and did not say a word, she didn't even ask if we needed help. When we asked if we could see the watch her response was "these are really expensive watches" and did not want to show me. I insisted that I needed to see the watch because I wanted to purchase it and she finally let me see it but would not let me hold it. When I asked questions about the product all she could tell me was that if I opened the box I could not return it which was irrelevant. $380 later we walked out of Macy's with a brand new Michael Kors watch only because the Michael Kors store did not have it in stock, the salesman at the Michael Kors store had already educated us about the watch, and Macy's had it in stock. Had the worst experience there last night (about 7pm) in the jewelery department. A very snobby, rude sales woman told me not walk to the other department with a necklace (it was about a $30 necklace) and I was with my daughter shopping for her homecoming dance. I never have had an issue there before, in terms of carrying merchandise from one department to the next. In fact, I have carried jewelery around in the past with out a problem. We were trying to match necklace to the dress and walking to the next area of the store to do so. She was very rude with me. I asked two times, "is this a new policy?" And she did not respond but rather answered, "it would be best if you leave the item here with me." To which, I responded by taking out my wallet and saying, this is ridiculous I will just pay for it now. I was really shocked and couldn't help but feel discriminated against! I will look elsewhere for accessories in the future. read more

I came in for the Selena Collection launch last Thursday, I was in town on a little getaway and thought because it's a much smaller town than where I live, it wouldn't be too crazy. I got there about 45 minutes before store opening and there were already 48 people ahead of me. I must say, the MAC & Macy's team handled the crowd nicely - they were very organized and orderly. They handed out numbers first and made it very clear, if you didn't have a number, you couldn't purchase product form the Selena line, they then passed out order forms to have your order ready to go when you got to the counter to pay. All the girls were super nice & helpful - even passing out beverages & candy while we waited. Although it took 2.5 hours from arrival time to purchase - it was well worth the wait! The only thing I can suggest for big launches like this, is having mobile payment processors for people paying with debit/credit card, this would have moved the line along much faster as they only had the two registers going. All in all, great service!! read more

These five stars go specifically for Debra in the fine jewelry department and Mitzi (spelling?) in the fashion jewelry department. I spent the previous week going in (about three times) and being discouraged time after time with the lack of selection and help. I had no clue what I was looking for but none of the other associates really helped to even guide me. My friend came to town to help... Mitzi took us over to fine jewelry and had Debra help us and insisted that I try things on. She and Debra collaborated well and when I was concerned about cost on an item, Mitzi would go to her department to find a similar looking item at a much lower price point. Let me explain the gravity of my desperation...I'm a bride looking for my jewelry as well as my maid of honors and four bridesmaids and I have one week before the day...talk about stressed. Debra and Mitzi made it relaxing, stress free and amazing! I walked out having everything I needed and Debra ordered what wasn't in stock. They really attended so well to me, my needs and my personal style. They took the care they would in their own wedding. I was amazed. They are two employees NOT to lose Macy's... I cannot thank them enough for having been as patient and helpful and caring! Amazing customer service, the kind you find in someone who is running their own business. I find the Jewelry Manager Charles to be rude and lacked polish in his dealings with my concern. I work hard for my money and I choose to be treated with respect. This is about the MAC cosmetics counter-I've been here numerous times to pick up my regular products- and each time I am ignored while I stand waiting for a simple acknowledgement. Not a hello or even eye contact. It's outstanding! Each transaction should take no more than 5 minutes- I already know what product i want and I'm here to spend money. Ends up taking about 10 minutes to get someone to help me. I found that it helps to just start playing with all the testers, someone will come right over. It is shocking to me that Macy's/Mac keep hiring incompetent staff. "Mac Girls" need to cut the arrogance crap, If Mac isn't concerned with hiring professional people, then it shouldn't come as any shock that they're losing business. read more

This review is actually for the CORPORATE MACYS. As a life long Macy's customer (Daly City, San Rafael, Corte Madera, San Francisco, Santa Rosa, etc) I have always loved the store happy that its one of the FEW stores to maintain its goodness over the decades. HOWEVER all this changed for me when a couple of months ago, Macy's decided to reward me for being an excellent credit customer by always making every single payment on time by LOWERING my credit limit to almost zero. SERIOUSLY. corporate had nothing to say to me about it. so F Macys. no wonder they are going bankrupt. You can't treat good people like crap and expect anything good to come from it. Sadly, i will NO LONGER support Maoys financially in any way and have continued to tell everyone who will listen how they have treated me, a once loyal life-long customer. On a brighter note: The man who manages the santa rosa plaza macys store is a wonderful human being. He, himself helped me on a difficult transaction one time and it was enough to really make me wish that all store managers realized that excellent customer service really does create dedicated customers. I'm increasingly disappointed in the state and service I find at Santa Rosa Plaza but I'm giving a 5 star review anyways because if 1 experience I had in the makeup department and Kristen, I hope that's her name who is a blonde late 40s makeup woman with Ester Lauder was a great help to me. I went in to go to Clinique and could not find any help until she approached me. She said she could help me with clinic as well even though she was Esta Lauder. She asked what I wanted And then took a sample of my skin with a matching till they had at Estée Lauder. She found the perfect match and when I told her I would else I was looking for She expertly found all I needed and worked my budget but also applied my makeup. She was not rushed, friendly and personal and I really needed an update and she provided that. I hope other Macy's associates take a lesson from her and get back to the kind of service that drew me to Macy's long ago but has been missing until Kristine from Estée Lauder helped me the other day. read more

Today I went into the downtown Macy's in Santa Rosa and was told by cashier Cindy that I was not able to return shoes because the shoe box was missing the top. According to the cashier she spoke to her manger Alicia, I took the shoes upstairs and was helped with no questions by a nice young man. I guess this is their new policy is not to return shoes if the top of the box is missing. It's very upsetting and inconvenient that the cashier Cindy downstairs should of just done her job and returned the shoes, but no I had to go upstairs with my little ones and stroller when it could of been taken care of downstairs. These Macy's employees really don't know what customer service is and needs to be addressed. Kudos to the nice gentleman in the shoe department. Employees like him are what makes customers come back. I really like this store. The best part is the gentleman in charge of the men's department. I think his name is Heinz. He is extremely helpful and is very knowledgeable about what is and is not fashionable. The only problem is the relatively limited selection. If this was based on just customer service and quality in the men's department I would give 5 stars. The service I experienced in the Macy's men's clothing department was disrespectful, rude and dated. I went to purchase a men's suit for a wedding. I waited in plain sight of an older salesman, even standing and sitting in front of him, for over 20 minutes before he even acknowledged me. He helped two other customers, one who came in after I did. He appeared uncomfortable whenever I looked at him. There were two salesman. The younger one nonchalantly continued to fold clothing while I waited. When I greeted him earlier he seemed hesitant and anxious. So, after waiting even longer, I gave up and left. It was a humiliating experience. I would suggest that Macy's select their sales staff based more on their ability to be comfortable with a diverse range of people. read more

I went in to look for a purse with my girlfriend for a gift. We are both 18, as soon as we walked to that section the lady working called security and had him follow us around the rest of the time. Visited the lingerie department yesterday and the service was horrible. After waiting nearly an hour for help the person didn't listen to anything I was asking for. While I was being helped she had to stop and go wait on people at the register who arrived well after I had been there. Im very satisfied with every purchase ive made at mac, its more expensive, but the make-up lasts 10 x longer than department store crap.

This is only aimed at the lingerie department. Being an unusual size means I am very limited in where I can go to buy bras, and macys sometimes has my size. First time, I walk in and am the only customer in the department. Two sales women, who watched me walk in, continue their conversation. A moment later, another woman walks in and these two sales women are tripping over themselves trying to help her. Now, this other customer looked to be mid 30's, nicely dressed, etc. I'm a college student and look like one. But, if I find something that fits and am treated well by the staff, I'm willing to spend a lot of money. Not the experience I had here. Beyond rude staff! read more

Very rude employee in the intimates department, Macy's used to treat customers with respect, but not these ones. I asked a sales associate about another size in a slip, she said they were all out on the floor. Neglected to mention they could be found in several areas grouped by brand. 2nd associate, after trying to push some ugly clearance items on me, was just downright rude and even tried to argue with me over how a coupon worked and that she had 25 years of expirence and knew "everything" about coupons and sales. There was a time, that an associate would just be respectful. But that went out the door with Macy's being a store for quality items. Now it's barely a step above Kohls. If you want decent service Drive to Marin and go to Nordstrom. read more
