Going to the mall for cookware. My teenage self can't comprehend. Neither can my adult self. First of all, I didn't know malls were still a thing. This place was busting :|Literally. The parking lot couldn't handle anymore people and it looked like a fight was about to break out over parking. We managed to get inside and... Since when is it the Macy's Club? The music was bumping and at my age, ear plugs were a necessity. The amount of cologne I sample-smelled was incredible considering I wasn't even by cosmetics. We go up to the second floor and now it's starting to feel a little more relaxed. The sales person we encountered was nice and helpful. We made our way up to the third floor. No more bumping music or seas of cologne. Yay! Cookware!! We're looking around and there are no prices, yet everything seems to be discounted 40%. Also no registrars were in use. We ended up researching pricing online and found msrp and typical markups. Didn't need the salespeople afterall. We head back down to Club Macy's and I spot the Origins section. I love Origins. I wanted things, but again, no salespeople. I suppose we could have waited around to buy something, but sometimes online is just easier. Also saves the hassle of the parking lot. read more

The only department that is fully staffed is the beauty department consisting of Make-Up and Fragrances. It's really sad to see what has become of this location. Clothes are on the floor strewn everywhere. The bathrooms are (no exaggeration) completely infested with roaches especially in the evening. I have also heard employees talking about a rat problem down on the first floor. Good luck finding someone to help on the 2nd and 3rd floors as they are very understaffed. Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever received. I ordered a suit separate for my husband to be delivered to our home. Macy's sent the suit jacket to our home and the pants to local Macy's store. I didn't want it to go to the store, but had to pickup anyway. The size was wrong on the pants. We had to return them and reorder the correct size. A few days ago I started to become concerned because I didn't get notification that the pants were at the store so I called and was told they had not been received yet. However, today, I received notification that because I never picked the pants up they were being canceled and returned to stock. I immediately called our local store and was on hold for nearly an hour before I actually got to talk to someone. This has been mess and I will never order from Macy's again. To top it all off we are 2 weeks in after the return and still my return has not processed fully by Macy's. They blame my bank, but my bank issues funds immediately. Now I will have a 2nd refund in limbo for weeks because Macy's canceled the 2nd pair of pants sitting at the store. Horrible customer service and procedures. read more

I like Macy's for my clothes. I like Macy's sale prices. I do not like Macy's regular prices. So when I go here i stick with the discounted racks. The clothes they sell are good quality by recognized manufactures. I like knowing what I buy will not fall apart the first time it is run through the washer. As an example of their prices, last night I bought 4 pairs of pants and 2 pairs of golf shorts for about $200. I left happy feeling I got my money's worth. I was not a shopper in Macy's yesterday but I would like to give a huge thanks to two employees in Cosmetics department, Rochelle and Amanda Rosa! I have only been to the North Star Mall once since moving to San Antonio. I was picking up a product inside the shopping mall and got confused trying to find where I parked my car. Rochelle a long time employee at Macy's went over and above trying to assist me and Amanda Rosa joined in. She called security and a young and courteous Tony came immediately and with his help was able to locate where I parked! I am very appreciative of their help! Shoe department store women aren't very helpful. Took some shows back that I need exchanged for 1 size up (10/24) they didn't have the shoes there so I planned on returning the ones I had and ordering the ones I needed through them as a exchange, then I was told they were sold out on the website as well, okay so I'll take the refund..they scanned my barcode order and said they couldn't find the barcode for my shoes in the system and could only give me "stock price" which was $35.. I paid $47 and the the shoes are selling for $55.70 online oh and guess what, the shoe and size I needed isn't even sold out online.. so they lied and just didn't want to do their job..only found that out when they told me to just return them by mail instead. Never had a situation where you can't return a item to the same chain of store it was purchased at online just a week prior. read more

This store makes me cringe sometimes. If you enter through the inside of the mall, the first thing you see is the very crowded and usually annoying make-up counters. The associates try to force some perfume sample on you which irritates me because the smell gives me a headache. On top of being crowded, when you do want to buy something service can be slow. I would say that most of the store isn't well organized and there is lots of clutter to be found all over. They do have a large selection of shoes, and I was helped almost immediately after picking up a shoe I wanted to try on. Compared to other Macy's stores however, I have to say this is probably number 2 on the most unorganized list. For the most part they carry the same brands as do most Macy's, but you might have to search harder just to find what you want here. read more

I went to Macy's with my friend who wanted to buy a pair of shoes. The store was FILTHY with overflowing trash recepticles and disgusting women's restrooms. I was STUNNED!! The toilate(s) on the second floor were broken and out of service. The third floor bathrooms were so disgusting I elected to wait and not use them at all. This is really sad because they still had their hallmark sitting lounge as you enter the bathroom where I remember many years ago breast feeding my baby!! When I brought my concern to SEVERAL employees, I received a blank stare, eye rolls, and was simply ignored. During the Covid PANDEMIC, many establishments have Closed their bathrooms to the public. That's because Hygiene is key in preventing transmission of the Corona Virus!! Public safety is not a priority to Macy's. My friend could not find ANY shoes in her average size, and the place was a mess!! Discarded Items were piled everywhere! The staff looked beat to the ground, never even smiling or offering assistance. We ended up leaving, and going to Walmart. Walmart was clean, with people throughout the store were cleaning, sweeping, and restocking OUT OF PLACE ITEMS, not blocking the isles like HEB grocers!! Walmart predominantly stocks their isles during the hours the store is closed. Macy's can whine and cry about the economy and their poor sales, but at the end of the day it's about customer service, and the fact that their "New Normal" has eliminated that! But yes I bought some beautiful pieces of jewelry, a few dresses with over $100 savings (including tax) with those lovely pink tickets. an Alfani top for $13 ... you just cant beat some of these deals.... but of course the Miss Me jeans never go on sale.. but maybe 2x a year! lol not many pushy sales people, which I enjoy. I went with my wife to buy shades and maternity clothes. We bought the sunglass from Sunglass Hut. The person manning the area was very friendly, knowledgeable and competent. We went to the customer service booth on the second floor to find out if they have any maternity clothes. When I asked the customer service guy, he had a deer in headlights look. I repeated the question... A lady (another customer) then yelled at him, "clothes for pregnant women!".. And he said "Oh, its on the first floor"... Well, we went to the first floor And we could not find it so we went to another customer service booth (on that floor) and the lady at the booth said they dont sell it in the store, only online. I buy a lot from Macy''s , usually online. Today i went to return some boots i bought that had some bling on them. After wearing them a few times some of the bling was already coming off. I am a Macy's fan when it comes to department stores. I enjoy this location due to the way they have their entrances. There's only 2; 1 at the corner by the garage, and the other facing San Pedro. You don't have to worry about which of the 3 sides of the store you parked like other department stores. At certain times of the year, I can usually find some pretty good deals in the Men's clothing department. Sales associates(cashiers) are generally pretty nice. And they always have coupons. There's no pressure by the sales associates, and they don't stalk you at Macy's. They have price scanners throughout the store, so you usually don't need to find someone to check the price(unless it's missing a tag). Use a Macy's credit card and save more on top. What I don't like about this particular store is their small perfume section on the ground floor. I think it's a little tight, and it's the only way to get to the main mall. Is that their way of slowing you down to spend more in the perfume section, or is it just bad planning...? Tired of looking at clothes and shoes. Go to the top floor and just browse through their furniture and kitchen area. This store is great to kill time at the mall or just to enjoy the A/C. read more

I purchased an item today for same day delivery. I received an alert stating the item and delivery was cancelled. I called the number provided to see about getting another item sent (I was hoping it can be shipped the following day or possibly pick it up). The rep stated it was the stored policy to issue a refund that could take up to 10 days. That seems incredibly silly to me, I purchased an item today, the funds left my account today, the item was cancelled today but I have to wait 10 days to get my money back? The customer service line was no help, I was transferred 3 times and spent nearly an hour on the phone. I am extremely disappointed with Macys as a whole. Very disappointed with my trip to Macy's today. There was literally one register open in the entire men's section this afternoon. There was one cashier trying to get through her line very disgruntled people. Then all of a sudden she said I need to walk away for a bit I'll be back soon. A lot of people just threw their stuff down and left. I took my purchase down to the first floor to see if I could find a cashier on my way out the door. They have merchandise and furniture that I love! Recently purchased an entire bedroom set and the customer service over the phone and in store assistance was horrible. Macy's seriously needs to improve majorly in that area. The men's dressing area was I adequate for trying on clothes and they commingled men and women in the same dressing area. The "selling associate - #11110693" was rude as my son had to find a secure place to try on jeans that she deemed unsafe. This is my favorite shopping spot for housewares in Northstar Mall. This is a pretty big department store, with a wide selection of stuff. They offer everything from mattresses, perfume, to clothing. Heck, if you haven't heard of Macy's by now, you'll probably never get there. It's got easy parking, right across the way from the parking garage that makes it easy to swing in and grab something and come right out without running through the entire mall. It can be hard finding a clerk, but they don't mind it if you take your purchases to another department to check out. I don't know if that's frowned upon because of commissions or something, but it's usually easier that way. They're always offering discounts if you open credit cards with them, but beware of the APR on those offers. They'll make their money back in no time. This isn't exactly the cleanest department store, but it's a one of the best in town. read more

***disclaimer*** I am writing about my customer service experience at this location of Macy's. I originally posted about this experience, only to have Yelp to change my review (by changing the business name). I complained that they altered the meaning of my review. So because they won't change it back to the original review name, I will repost. I love Prescriptives Mineral Makeup! I have very sensitive skin and my dermatologist recommended that I use mineral based makeup that also had a green tint to it (I know it sounds weird, but when you have rosacea and your face is red like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, green covers it up). Macy's has a Prescriptives counter where they do custom blend and can add green tint along with other things to your makeup. I was running low on a specific item and needed to pick some up. I called both Dillard's and Macy's to see who had the best price. Dillard's answered immediately. The Prescriptives counter at Macy's didn't pick up. So I decided to drive over there, park on the Macy's side just in case they were cheaper and went in. There was one person working at the Prescriptives counter. There was also a customer trying to get her attention but to no avail. Eventually she was able to get her attention and the employee came over. She didn't even greet me or say "I'll be right with you." I waited and waited. Two more shoppers came over, even stood directly next to the worker and stared at her like they needed attention too, but she didn't even give them the time of day. They eventually left. After 7 minutes of waiting, yes I know but I was looking at my cell phone most of the wait and I had the time on there, she eventually said to me "I'll be right with you" then proceeded to continue to help the other patron. There were other Macy's workers hanging around other makeup counters and they were not busy. They saw me but didn't even come over to help. Even Macy's had a guy standing out in the aisle and looked over to me and knew I was getting really impatient but didn't do anything either. After another 10 minutes, I looked at the employee and said "do you know how much longer you will be?" She didn't even acknowledge me. Her personal cell phone went off twice while I was there. Geez. I walked away. The Macy's guy in the aisle asked me something, and I just said something about horrible customer service and left. I walked clear across the mall, went into Dillard's, was greeted immediately (even with other patrons there), got my makeup AND was even given a free gift. I will NEVER go to Macy's again for any makeup. Horrible customer service. read more

Sometimes I wish I could pick places to be on Undercover Boss, so I could point out all the things that are painfully obvious to these executives that fall thru that cracks as a result of corporations growing larger and oversight shrinking. On my visit to Macy's two things became apparently obvious: (1) the customer service here is SEVERELY lacking. The ratio of customers to employees is insanely off-balanced. Translation: you won't find help, unless you go looking for it. In my case, when I found help, it was to find someone to ring me out. The guy mumbled that the closest register was across the store to which I responded "okay, following you" (after all I can't check myself out right?) and when we reached the register he asked one of the two ladies there to log in for him and as soon as she did he just walked off. I wish I were kidding, but the uneasy laugh that she let out spoke volumes about how rude, un-professional and awkward that was. (2) Cleaning and maintenance need more attention. After visiting the try-on rooms, I counted at least 20 pins from clothes on the floor (and this is being very conservative). Some you can see shining on the carpet, some are stuck IN the carpet. Nonetheless, God forbid someone had their kid sitting on the floor in there or trying on clothes that required them to remove their shoes and Macy's could very-well have a lawsuit on their hands. (3) Poor layout. I entered the store and of course there's no help to be found. So I walk around for about 5 minutes and finally I lose it and grab someone and ask where the hell men's-ware is. She laughs and says upstairs. I looked at every sign on that first floor and unless it's hidden or micro-printed I NEVER saw a sign for menswear anywhere. Here's why this matters: in the Austin mall that I'm accustomed too, Macy's is split. Men's stuff is on one side of the mall and Women's stuff is on the other side. I almost left just assuming they didn't have anything because in the store in Austin, the only thing upstairs in the Women's side is household stuff. Better signage would be greatly appreciated (or better staffing or both). read more

Was trying to decide between Cartier or Hermes cologne and the saleswoman didn't even know what Hermes was. She asked what brand made it?! At least we laughed a little though. Dirty restrooms, I wouldn't even change my daughter in there. It was hot for some reason too, not keeping up with AC maybe?
