The second-floor women's department has been drastically reduced and now shares space with childrens', infants', and toy sections. The juniors department, which used to be on the first floor, has been moved to the second floor as well, further shrinking the already limited women's selection. I was very disappointed with how little was available. The only thing I found was a sweater marked down from $46.50 to $14.99, which was a good deal--but that was the extent of my purchase. The weeks and weekend of Black Friday is the time to shop. It's nice that they start their black Friday deals early as it gives you more time to shop at your leisure. I wish they kept all of these sales up till Christmas, so you don't feel like you have to stop shopping after black Friday. I first went shopping for glass cutting boards online for their black Friday sale as I heard that using the plastic ones that we have been using for eons puts micro plastics into your food and into your body. I found a nice set of Lenox cutting boards a big one and small one. I ordered them online, but they didn't come with gift receipts which would have been nice. After buying them at 50% off for $24.99 I found the same set on Amazon for the same price and they do next day shipping so make sure you research better than I did before you make your black Friday purchase. I gave them to my friend and he loves them so it was a hit and the brand is good so they should last. He had been talking about getting glass cutting boards and is the one that brought the micro plastics to my attention. So, this was the perfect gift. I bought two sets and am giving the other to a family member, I hope they like them as well. I was going to buy a set for myself, but I did some further reading and they said it's not good with cleavers and that is what I mainly use to do my chopping. So I guess I'll stick with the plastic ones. Most everything is 50% off and I mean most as somethings are still full price or a lesser percentage off. I spent over an hour in here looking for sweaters. Most were $80 and half of put them at $40, more then I wanted to spend. Then I found the juniors section and with 50% off they were more in my price range. I tried on dozens of sweaters and settled on two. They have so many nice ones, but it all depends on your size and shape. I found a nice grey one with pearls on it and a red one that goes off the shoulder or if you were it up high it has a high collar. read more

This review pertains to the ground floor Women's fragrance center as well as the downstairs Men's fragrance center. I came to Macy's as I wanted to try a new cologne and buy a bottle of Bleu de Chanel, as I had tried the sample and loved it. I first went to the Women's fragrance center as a kind worker asked me what I was looking for and lead me to the fragrance workers. The women she lead me to were very rude, made me feel bad for asking questions about the cologne and seemed as if they didn't know what they were doing... and they had exceptionally terrible customer service. I was ready to buy a big bottle and they fumbled it. I tried the cologne, then decided to go downstairs to the Men's Fragrance area as I refused to help terrible, rude workers earn commission. I received amazing customer service from Maureen and her team and bought a huge bottle of Bleu de Chanel - they answered all of my questions - they truly salvaged my experience at this Macy's. read more

I recently purchased a women's perfume from Macy's at Arden Fair Mall, and I had a wonderful experience. There was a saleswoman named Anna working at the fragrance section along with another sales associate. Anna was absolutely amazing -- very knowledgeable about perfumes and extremely skilled at helping customers choose the right fragrance. Her customer service was beyond professional. She was friendly, patient, and made the whole shopping experience very pleasant. Because of employees like her, I would definitely recommend that people shop at this location. Customer Service. Had a very hard time finding anyone to answer questions. Being disabled I walked from one side of the store to the other trying to find a dressing room. Along the way asking customers. There was one person at the cash register who was kind enough to answer my question. Then I had to walk all the way back to where I started. Could not find the items I needed a different size in. So I paid for my one item and left. The set up is beneficial to disabled people. I don't know how many times I had to sit down at different displays to rest my back. I don't think they want to keep the store open because the organization is crazy. They can also put signs up all over the store if they don't want hire people. Please do better. read more

I was going to buy a few Levi pants jeans and a good button shirt . However the stink of the cologne perforated the whole store! I almost passed out from the differnt smells from the cologne! So strong ! I could not do my shopping there due to me almost passing out from the alcohol smells that they put in cologne! And the woman's department is way worse for smells!! Macys is going downhill FAST!! This has less to do with the products/items & MORE to do with the service offered! For starters, im completely baffled as to why they have a minimum 10 people/staff in the fragrance department but, you have to actually go find someone to check out for anything else!! In the Mens department (downstairs) there was literally 1 register open in shoes.... He was taking SUPER long to assist this family that wasn't ready to check out and i stood there for about 15m waiting to check out. I guess he couldn't tell the people who weren't ready that he was just going to ring me up while they sorted out whatever was confusing! I went to 2 other registers & fragrance department. One of the other registers had a worker & he was folding clothes and told me nobody was checking out on that register. I went to one of the 13 workers in fragrance, who happened to be busy txting on her phone & asked if i could check out? She said someone was just at "Suits" register... but, i just came from that area & it was literally the empty department right behind me, she looks and says, "oh. Maybe try upstairs". I walk to 2 different registers and nobody there! I just went over to the returns section and asked if someone can ring me up? They say, "sure" and FINALLY im able to make a purchase! This is crazy!! I doubt i waste my time with Macys Arden anymore, if hunting down someone to "allow" me to pay, takes more time than me going to pick out a couple pairs of Levis 511. I see absolutely NO reason why the fragrance department should have so many workers that clearly dont have enough work for everyone & they just stand around txting! ...& the entire time I was there (downstairs) i saw MAYBE 2 separate "customers" shopping in that department!! Macy's is a relic of an era when people did a lot more in-person shopping. I still go there on infrequent visits to the mall and always end up wandering the aisles. Occasionally, I find something I may not have been looking for, which still makes the in-person shopping experience vital to me. Less occasionally, like on my most recent trip, I encounter really helpful employees. That always deserves and update and a mention in my book. I was in the housewares section looking for an item for a chef friend for Christmas. Usually this end s with me waiting patiently at a counter for an employee to help me and, when they never show, I leave. This time a woman (wish I remember her name) materialized out of nowhere and, despite how busy they were, did a thorough job of making sure I found said item, all while being cheerful and attentive. Compare that to the automated nothing that is the service you'd get for ordering online and you can still justify the value of going down and supporting a department store. Side note: COVID-19 masks work as a great way to get through the competing and overwhelming smells of the perfume area without passing out! read more

The store is showing her age as most of Macy's. Maybe I will have fewer choices by shopping in the store compared to shopping online! But I do like the feeling of buying, receiving, and bring it home right away. I can also touch and check out the labels for more information I would like to know. The Macy's Arden Fair looks old, but clean and organized very well. I can found what I want very easily most of the time. The sales reps in the store are pretty helpful too! on Valentine's day evening me and my wife went to the Macys Arden Fair for shopping. our first stop was in the men's section Mens Suits and men's dress shirts . we were waiting in the men's suits for almost 45 min. but unfortunately we did not find any sales associate in the area to help us with the sizing and gave us more information about the suits . only one female associate was in the men's shoes stocked with bunch of customers . we wasted our time for no reason no hope and no help at all. we are macys customers for a long time but we never had this bad experience before. we left store with unhappy faces and empty hands. macys is the largest clothing company they should have enough customers support on the floor. it seems like Macys management did not care about their customers and Sales. read more

Curbside pick up is so convenient but I wanted to go inside to shop for a bit. The customer service reps wipe everything down with antibacterial wipes after every transaction which was pretty nice to see. Store is pretty clean and organized. Has all your name brand items, I like the clearance and markdown racks. I also shop here for perfume and colognes. I come here to much they also have membership cards, silver, bronze, gold; the more you spend the more you save, technically not really but ultimately that's how the world runs. Hardly any open registers. I asked where to check out in the jewelry department and was told juniors. Went to juniors and there was a sign that said to go to handbags to check out. When I got there there was a woman taking back a ton of stuff, some of which caused confusion so managers had to be called. In the meantime the line was growing longer. I finally asked one of the managers who were just standing around if there was another register and was told to go back to juniors! Meanwhile the lady who was behind me in line in handbags and had a bunch of clothes compared to my one item, got there first. You'd think they would have gone to the purse section where the sign had originally instructed us to go and got the first person next in line. I know this all seems petty but it's an accumulation of poor customer service which sparked this review. read more

Plenty of parking in the shared lot for the mall. Super busy and crowded in the afternoon on a weekday, due to the holiday season. On a normal weekday, there's hardly any customers. Clean interior. The staff do not wear masks. It was difficult to find any free staff that weren't already assisting someone else. Other customers would bump into you, and the room temperature was elevated since there were so many people. Once we did get a hold of a staff member, we found that they didn't have what we were looking for and left without purchasing anything. read more

I have shopped at the Macys chain of stores for what feels like countless years. Shopping at Macy's was always exciting. From being able to shop through what was called the cellar, The various clothing departments, as well as, the infamous shoe department. While each store had a little different layout, they all had comparable offerings. The Arden fair Macy's store was no different. This location anchors a poorly laid out mall, that is seen its fair share of stores over the course of many years. Anchored at the far end of the mall, they have their own parking structure in addition to the other parking that is available around the store and the shopping mall. This particular location is just the epitome of poor layout and offerings. The store feels cluttered and what was once classic, has become aged and unappealing. So much so, that this is exactly why people shop online. Their latest fashion I found to be completely embarrassing upon my recent shopping spree. I can't fathom what the buyers were thinking when they purchased this, and I certainly can't imagine anybody in or around the Sacramento area paying money for any of it. The Cellar was by far my favorite go to anytime I shopped in any of the stores. The latest and greatest of kitchen where, tools, and countertop appliances would make any one get lost in the happiness of the shopping experience. This location has a small selection, and while it is in the basement as the cellar is known to be, it literally is shoved in a corner in the men's department. It looks more like a yard sale, but nobody even wants to go to it. Customer service is nonexistent, unless you happen to find someone that's working at one of the registers. Even then, there's not a tendency for them to leave the register to help anyone on the floor. The employees seem frustrated at their own working conditions, and I totally understand why they would. Customers that have intentionally picked up clothing, and left numerous items tossed on table tops and floors, and the more you walk around the worse it gets. They just don't have enough staff to keep the store tidy. The fragrance department is one of the few areas that is brightly lit, and perhaps business is better there than it is anywhere else in the store. They have a very interesting area where a customer can select from the type of fragrance that they think they might be interested in, and pick up what appears to be a stopper, and they can sniff the end of it. That will lead them to a specific type of fragrance. I can't imagine this being sanitary, but perhaps this was a way to dispose of employees that the store fell unnecessary. This would not necessarily be my go to if you need to shop at Macy's. It's just a sad shell of its former self, that no one seems to care about any longer. read more

I shop online and pick up curbside several times a month. I prefer to pick up rather than having it shipped as Macy's uses UPS and they repeatably fail. Either the items ruined in shipping or never arrives. Customer service at the Arden store has always been great and has gone above and beyond to make things right for returns. The associates are always pleasant and quick when bringing the items out when I arrive. read more

I wanted to get more stuff but I just didn't want to deal with having to dig through mess. So I just took a few items. Lady's the intimates were worth the slight dig. I love mine. read more

I made an order online for pick up at the store. I am not sure how I marked it for pickup at the Arden mall, but it happened. About 3 days after I made the order, I noticed it had been picked up. I called customer service, and they told me they made contact with the store and they would fix it. After a month of calls and no help. I was told by Roseville to go to Arden to get refunded that they would need to check the cameras to see it was not me who picked up the order. Karen, the manager, and I take it her boss. Came over and said to call customer service since it was an online order there was nothing they could do. I explained again customer service said the store had to take care of it because it was a pick-up order, and they were supposed to check ID. They said that is what happened. Well clearly that is not what happened because someone has my merchandise and I did not pick up the order. They kept saying that they check ID. I asked how my order was picked up. They would just say they check ID. So I called customer service again from the parking lot like they said to do. Again, I was told to go to the store had to take care of it because they should have checked ID. Finally, the customer service agent from Texas took care of the issue. When I went back into the store and talked to Karen again. She made me wait another 10 mon and finally refunded me for the stolen merchandise. I guess the cashier give customer pick-ups to their friends and think the customer will not notice or will get frustrated and give up. I never go to this store and never would again. I am seriously considering getting rid of my account with them. read more

Prices have gone up and the place looked like it had been ransacked. The doors to the i side mall shut down at 8pm forcing us to walk outside to get back to our car. The registers became minimal too with several people lined up with one cashier. Lame. In store shopping doesn't seem like a prority, doubt they will last much longer. read more

The five stars goes to Amy. I walked into the store, looking for a new perfume. All the women working with perfume in their hands would not speak to me. I walked away, but then decided to stop at a counter and ask a question to see if I could still get some service. I was met by Amy, a very positive young woman who offered to help me find my scent. It took a short amount of time. Her professionalism and bubbly personality was awesome. I truly appreciate the respect that she showed me. It made me feel more comfortable to look for what I wanted in the store. I walked around all day, smelling my arm. Thank you, Amy! I purchased a ring for my 5 year anniversary. My husband had planned a special ceremony so that he could present the ring to me. He had invited our family and closest friends. We purchased the ring on May 27 2023. When we purchased it we were told the the longest it would take to get it back(we had to have the ring sized down from a 7 to 3 1/2. ) The seller wrote 4 weeks. So 4 weeks comes along nothing, I call to check on the status, they say oh it should be in by the end of the week. The week finishes...nothing. I call again the following week, they say the ring should be in this week. I'm like ok, what is going on. Long St short, we end up getting a call from the Arden Director. We maintain constant communication. She is communicating with the jeweler who is handling the ring sizing. We are reassured that the ring will be shiput July 18. I get a call July 19 from Macy's saying that my ring can only be sized down 2 sizes! It is not shipped! It has been there sitting the whole time. Wow. This is what I get from Macy's. I have been a loyal customer. We purchased my engagement ring fron them. I feel so unappreciated and lied to. Do not get your jewelry from them. Empty promises. read more

This is located in Downtown heart of Sacramento next to the Golden One! By the looks of the mall and Macys .... Looks sad and depressing. The two individuals at the second floor closest to the exit register are NOT trained and have NO customer service manners either! One knew nothing so instead of helping customers the other proceeded to assist her coworker who all of a sudden showed up. There was a line of 6 people all of whom were discussing that plus the horrible mess of racks and racks of clothes that should just be shipped off to Ross or anyone else who wants them then take a write off! Never seen anything like it. I worked for Macys and No way any of this would've been acceptable nor allowed! Train your new workers and drug test also. I'm just so disgusted. I like my makeup to ladt a long time, as I mostly do not wear it, and I DO NOT INVEST IN MAKEUP THAT DRIES UP ,,, in a few months!! So I Purchased my brow pencil in Lancôme and the sales lady was fantastic. My old pencil is discontinued, but she found one close. I was very pleased. Then went to another counter to see in person a blush that I looked at / read about online. I put lots of research in before buying anything. Shisiedo, that sales rep was awesome too!!!! I was trying to purchase some pillows, and was walking around trying to find a cashier. I was finally directed to a spot that wasn't exactly obvious, and quite a walk from where I started. It was difficult to even find an employee to ask. It should be very intuitive for a customer to purchase items. I almost walked away. Then, I was the only one in line, while four employees about ten yards away, chatting around a mattress, glanced at me occasionally. It seemed they were hoping I would leave. Again, I almost did. No one said a word to me. Finally, after about five minutes, someone came to the register. I really felt like I didn't belong there. read more

Today a Macy's employee walked towards me aggressively, and then cut me off at the escalator. She was wearing a dark green blouse, Black pants, and had dark brown hair. She was intimidating and aggressive for no reason. I am also Black/African American, my assumption is that this was the reason for her aggressiveness towards me.
