What happened to Macy's? I'm in my 50's and when I was a kid, next to Nordstrom, Macy's was a high class department store. How far they have fallen. I'm here in Roseville at 11:30am on a Sunday. The store opened 30 minutes ago and it's an absolute mess in the men's department. This tells me that Macy's isn't cleaning up and merchandising their stores from the day before. All the displays of folded stacked clothes are messed up. Hanging clothes on the ground. It's completely disorganized. You can't find your size. Not much clothing on the racks. I don't want to shop in this type of disorganized environment so I'm leaving. Macy's management is lacking. They obviously don't staff their stores with enough help so subsequently they can't be merchandise properly. It's a domino effect that turns customers off and forces them to go elsewhere. Macy's appears to be circling the drain. read more

Yess!!! Macy's FTW (For The Win), Again!! After countless stops and hours of shopping, we found daughter's prom dress here. The selection is still pretty decent, I'm sure there was a lot more last week! With prom being the first weekend in April, we needed to find a dress quick! Sooner, the better! With that being said, get here soon or the selections will be slim to none. Sure, we went to several bridal shops and boutiques, but what those places don't allow, is to return or exchange a dress. Being a parent, you like having that assurance you can exchange or return, because with teens, things can change at a moments notice! Christina, our cashier was ever so helpful! Although, I have a Macy's account, I told her I didn't want to use it. When she was giving me the final estimate, she tells us, "Wanna see magic?" I didn't know what she meant as I watched her wiggle her nose (like Samantha on Bewitched) and she knocked off another twenty percent off our total. I was supposed to have a coupon but she let me have it anyway! Cool! I've shopped here before and I've never had an associate do that, reason being, I didn't have my coupon! Overall, it pays to shop around! This will be my last time I'll be doing this, as daughter graduates from high school, bittersweet! Shoe department customer service is poor. I went 7/9/23 about 3pm found a pair asked cashier for size, no smile, she acted like why I am there later she got me empty box and said shoes on the ile. She was Hispanic last she was very sweet to Hispanic customers so I left the box and walked out. read more

My fiancé and I had the absolute pleasure of meeting this amazing representative today when shopping for a suit and some shoes for our wedding. He went ABOVE AND BEYOND in helping us find the perfect everything. Shirt, suit, shoes, tie and socks. He had outfits and ideas ready and planned for us after our return visit (needed to bail for lunch with friends after our original purchase). He was very thoughtful, well spoken, extremely helpful and an excellent example of customer service. We will return simply because of Judah and his excellence. This is by far, my favorite Macy's store in all of the greater Sacramento/surrounding areas. The entire store is staffed with friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to help with anything employees. Every time that I have shopped at this particular store, I always walk out feeling great about my purchases, and my experience overall. Each department within the store, is usually fairly well stocked, items are neatly displayed, and if they have ever been out of an item that I'm looking for, the employees have always been willing to search their database for that particular item, and have even offered to locate it and have it shipped to me free of charge. Major bonus points. I recently just spent over three hours shopping in the store, with much of that time shopping in the men's department. The men's department is filled with so many wonderful choices, and the selection continues to be better than most of the department stores, not to mention, the on going sales cannot be beat. We purchased a tuxedo, because all well dressed men should have one in their respective wardrobes, and we totally lucked out with the price and the quality. The overall cost would have been well over $550, but with the current sale, our bargain of the evening, was $200! Plus, I signed up for the Macy's credit card, and an additional 20% will come off the final bill. Didn't I tell you, such great deals, and awesome quality. Both of the salesman that assisted us, could not have been friendlier, knowledgeable, and just overall nice guys. They offered great advice for styling, and their list of do's and dont's, were totally on point. We actually shopped with them until after the store closed, because they both wanted to make sure that we had everything that we needed. This is customer service at its finest. If you're looking for a wonderful shopping experience, coupled with finding a few bargains here and there, this absolutely is the store to find it all at!! read more

This store has the worst customer service. I spent two hours on the phone trying to get ahold of someone in the womens department. I tried every selection and no one picked up. I kept trying until I finally chose the order pickup selection and finally got ahold of someone. They said they were going to give my number to an associate that would return my call. I was told I would be contacted by the end of the day. I never heard from them. It's truly disappointing to see not only the store a mess when I go in and not being able to get ahold of anyone in store is the cherry on top. Back to Nordstrom I go. read more

How the mighty have fallen, used to enjoy shopping here but so many fails lately. No more NYDJ brand one of few brands that fit me, sheets towels selection has diminished and shoes is the worst. In their Last Act clearance found two pairs I liked finally found sales associate to help he was in back 5 minutes and said they were "samples" and I should go online and shop. Lazy not a way to build customer loyalty. No Chanel make up any more. Dressing room in lingerie had 2 unavailable due to use for excess inventory or tryons not put away?? This review is going to hurt the sunglass store here my mom and I came here tonight to look for some sunglasses because I mom hasn't gotten any kind she's like for a long time and they are only allowing four people in at a time which is crazy makes it take a long time and we were looking around at the sunglasses and they had told us whatever ones you don't want just put inside the container on the side to be sanitized he said OK and my mom didn't realize she was putting them on top of each other and a lady scold her no don't do them like that you're going to scratch them and I'm on the oh sorry and then she sarcastically said it's OK and then my mom was looking at another pair sunglasses and they fell on the floor they slipped out of her hand literally and the lady said You're going to have to pay for those if you scratch them and my mom was like what they slipped out of my hands I turned around and said you don't have to be rude and my mom said she didn't want me to cause a scene but this lady was a straight out bitch with a horrible attitude working customer service she should know how to provide great customer service without snobby attitude well The entire staff working here is not friendly at all given this sour experience we had we will never come back to this one horrible staff over here very rude very unprofessional made it like we were stupid with the sunglasses really beyond rude I have a friend who works at Macy's he likes it I am glad he doesn't work for the sunglasses company because they are beyond snobby and beyond rude I really need to work on their customer service skills because when working with the high-end class customers they should know how to provide good customer service not bitchy customer service I hope that the store is talk to you about their attitude beyond horrible experience I will never come back here again to buy sunglasses read more

Poor Macy's. They seem to have lost their way. The identity is somewhat confusing . Too much merchandise ? Is it a discount store? Home Store? Maybe in the middle ? I'm not quite sure. All I had to do was to have an theft alert device taken off an item I received for Christmas. That's the easy part. The part that hurts is to witness their demise . Perhaps I'm wrong. I know they are closing stores. Going way back Macy's was relatively upscale. What happened? It was a staple . Let's say , I seldom think of going to Macy's as a first choice when I want need or desire something. I was in two different Macy's over the holidays. I walked into the Macy's at the Roseville Galleria looking to purchase a gift card for my mom. Everyone behind the counter was busy helping other customers so I walked around looking for someone to help me. I saw a woman behind the counter, and I asked for her assistance. Noticing her purse in her hand, thought she might not work at Macy's and said, "Sorry, do you work here?" She replied saying she was off for the day, but she was happy to help me. I said I had no problem looking for someone else, but she insisted to help. Thanks to Fati I was able to get my mother's annual Christmas present. I truly appreciate her customer service. I bought a watch a few months ago online and needed to have it resized. When we arrived we went to the jewelry counter and the lady told us she only worked on certain brands and sent us upstairs to customer service which we found odd but we listened to her anyway. Waited in line to speak to someone and he was just as surprised as we were when we told him the situation. Instead of just sending us back downstairs to figure it out ourselves, Alan the customer service employee went above and beyond to ensure we got the help we needed. He even stayed with us until the right person was able to serve us. While he waiting with us I could hear him call different departments to help each other when he noticed lines getting long which I thought was great overall customer service. Even though the process took longer than it should have he made the experience a lot more bearable. read more

I normally don't stop by Macy's but I think I am going to have to change that now that we signed up for a Macy's card. My boyfriend and I came here to go suit shopping and everyone was so helpful and kind. Joseph helped my boyfriend find a lovely navy suit at an amazing price! We told him we had a budget and he worked him butt off to help us stay in the price range. We also had our dog with us and he was snuggling our pup the entire time which was great. We get mixed reactions when we bring her places and have had some nasty experiences in the past but everyone at Macy's was so accepting of her. Great service. Great prices. Great selection. Five stars to BROOKE who works in the home department! Today she worked tirelessly to try and find the pillow I needed. The system said there were 24 so she went on what turned out to be a 15-20 min wild goose chase. She didn't give up until it was confirmed their inventory was a cluster F***. She was so helpful to get them ordered. Why didn't we just order them right away and save time? She took to heart that I hadn't slept in 5 weeks! My body apparently doesn't like my old flat pillows with my new mattress. I was desperate to walk away with a pillow today. THANK YOU BROOKE for doing your absolute best. As far as the huge mess and the inventory being all messed up all over the store I give the building 3.5 stars. Came in here for one of their big sales because my boyfriend needed a black suit for an upcoming wedding. We were in the men's suits section for quite a while and were helped by several different people. We had one woman in particular who continued to help us try different sizes and ultimately ended up suggesting what ended up being the perfect suit. Though suit shopping isn't the funnest experience, they made it relatively painless and were super helpful. Other than that, we looked at dresses and just generally walked through the store. It was well maintained, had a lot of staff on hand to help with anything, and was just generally a nice Macy's. read more

Macy's has changed quite a bit over the last 5 or so years. I feel like the company has made efforts to make their merchandise more affordable to the different income classes. This is good for Macy's because they are able to turn their stock over faster as opposed to keeping it all on the shelves. People are happy and the company is still in the positive even though their merchandising system is similar to Kohl's. That might make shoppers perceive Macy's to be not as high end as before. However, I'm finding that quality of merchandise is pretty well maintained. They have lotsa mid to high end brands as well as their private label lines that are exclusive to the store. I still think Macy's quality is better than Kohls. On a scale of Kohls to Nordys...I'd say Macy's is teetering towards a Kohls-like environment. I can't say for sure if it's just my perception, or if the environment just needs a bit of a make over. All in all...I'd come here again and again for affordable, high quality merchandise, and great service. read more

I needed a new pair of sunglasses and since I had a Wow pass at Macy's, I decided to check out their selection. I wanted some aviators and since I have a pretty small face and a narrow nose, I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to actually find some. As I arrived in the sunglasses section, I was promptly greeted by a sales associate named Tanner. He spent a solid hour with us helping to find me the perfect pair of Michael Kors gold & purple mirrored aviators. We were here to look at men's clothing. We saw all sorts of styles and great merchandising throughout the store. We spent most of our time in the men's suits. I was surprise to see all sort of styles and brand names. There were so many choices. The sales people were also very knowledgable with their products and made every inch of the way to help us find the perfect outfit. RUDY in the shoe department was AMAZING! He was beyond helpful. My left foot is 1/2 inch shorter than my right and he helped me get the good fit for heels! He found solutions to help my with that tiny little issue. They didn't have my normal size at that store, so he printed me a receipt of all other local Macy's, and how many of that shoe size other Macy's had! He did anything possible to help me get the perfect shoe. EXCELLENT customer service! He was really friendly and quick to serve you! Nice man and a GREAT worker. Keep it up Rudy! Came to Macy's on a Friday of one of their 'Big Sale' weekends. Was looking to buy a suit and some formal shirts, good time to buy as everything was reduced. Worked with Drake in the Menswear dept. What a great experience! I couldn't stay long on the Friday so arranged to meet him on Sunday, I turned up and he helped me find what I was looking for, it took around 45 mins but I ended up with great sharp looking suit, fitted perfectly and a great price. Drake helped my constantly, making recommendations, was very knowledgeable about the stock they had and generally helped me to get what I wanted. I don't usually review department stores but I just couldn't believe my experience this last visit. (Sorry for my rant ahead of time) So I Just bought an item on line & went in to pick it up at the Roseville Galleria store. I thought it would be a quick in & out but boy was I wrong! Made my way to the Customer pick up counter, waiting patiently while the only sales associate working tried to figure out a return (I think) for the customer ahead of me. 5..10..15 minutes went by & I was wondering why this was taking so long & that no one was there or coming to back her up. Found out her headset wasn't working so she couldn't call her manager for help & on top of it she was brand new I felt so bad for her. By now there were 4 more customers behind me so I volunteered to go find her some help but couldn't find a single person anywhere. After walking through 4 large departments I started calling out loud if there were any employees around!! Frustrated with no response I finally walked to the end of the store floor to find 3 all behind the fragrance counter. Told them the problem & all they said is "she needs to call a manager". Which I replied "she can't, as I already said, her headset wasn't working". At this point I was so shocked & mad at the lack of customer service I just walked out of the store. I have been to this Macy's frequently this past year. I feel their customer service is never good. Associates never ask me if I need help and when I do, I can never find anyone. Their beauty counters are especially rude. I have purchased cosmetics that didn't work out. When I return the items, the associates are always rude and short with me during/after the return. The one exception where customer service has been better is at the Bluemercury counter. Those ladies are eager to please and nice. Not sure if I'll be back to this Macy's. Customer service should be number one priority for any business. read more

I had a emergency and was trying to find a restroom in Macy's. I walked into the men's restroom only to be confronted by a cleaner demanding that I leave. He got up on my face, pointing to the exit and was very aggressive. He said if I don't leave he was calling security. I said I really have to go, and he didn't not care. At one point he was physically going to removed me. He stepped in front of me as I was going to the stall. He then reached for this walkie talkie and called security. A manager and security guard entered the bathroom where I was and escorted me out. The manager was very rude and did not care about my emergency. She said that I don't have an emergency. I asked her how does she know? I'm very surprised by her behavior. They seem to think they are not replaceable. I'm also going to be calling Macy's corporate to inform them of what happened. Obviously the policy needs to be changed. I've never heard of any business telling a customer they couldn't use the bathroom. This whole thing could have been resolved and over if he would've just let me go to the restroom quickly. read more

This review is mainly for their PROM DRESS selection for which I was VERY impressed! They have a whole corner of the Juniors Department dedicated to them, and the selection was impressive with 100+ dress styles to choose from! I was sent here by my Husband over the weekend with a challenge: To see if I could find any prom dresses for my Stepdaughter under $150. I of course knew this would be easy, but I decided to humor him and go. Of all the dresses I saw at Macy's, 99% of them were $99. I saw one for $199 and one for $149, but the rest were $99 and this was with no sales or coupons which they ALWAYS have. They had a ton of floor length gowns, above the knee dresses and everything in between. I also found a dress in almost every color! Black, coral, light blue, aqua, pink, etc. Perfect. So thank you Macy's for proving my point! I have never been disappointed with your selection and variety. I would definitely recommend anyone out looking for prom dresses to stop by Macy's. I advise against using their Macy's card because I have has numerous bad experiences with their problem solving skills associated with the card both in person and on the phone, but that's a story for a different day! read more
