Came here recently to get the combat boots that I've been wanting forever. I went to Macy's with my mom and ditched her so I can go straight to the shoe department. Couldn't find the combat shoes till I asked the lady out. Her name was Janet btw and probably the only reason why I remembered her name was cause that is my sister's name lol. Anyways, she looked on the computer if they had it in stock and came out with them in black. She was even kind enough to bring me the brown ones to see which one I liked better. Luckily, I got the last 7W which I was so happy about and suggested I should get the black ones since it would match with everything. I was seriously out of Macy's within 5 minutes of stepping into the shoe department probably cause I knew what I wanted. Overall, thanks Janet for finding me my dream combat boots. read more

Apparently no one wanted to do my face at Macy's. Walked around the cosmetics deep inside SEVERAL TIMES. And no one batted an eye because they were socializing with each other. Wow this time I wanted to be pampered just a tiny bit. Yes you heard me. I wanted someone to do my face. It's to bad that a busy Mum like myself. Was able to get some alone free time to do something and never got serviced. Maybe country living you don't get nice things here. When I'm in a city at another Macy's location I get serviced. I get asked if I wanted to get a little makeover. They get nice things such as my sale and a commission that follows suit. To bad that I can't give references to generate more business about them on my social media. Next time please approach me how's my day. We'll start from there. I was so very disappointed with the overall costumer service on both the main store and the home store. It has been over a year from my last visit and after this it will be longer !!!!!!!!!!! #1 I purchased 2 " expensive bras to discover when I got home ( one your drive) that both bras STILL had the sensors. #2 I purchased towels from the Hotel collection and to my surprise I was in a very long line witch was in the housewares since no cashiers were open in bedding and towels. #3 The cashier was very inexperienced and she was left to figure out sales and returns . I was looking for an add on Valentines Day gift for my Wife. I was at the Jo Malone fragrance Department. A young lady named Karen (not sure of the spelling) was very courteous polite and showed me several fragrances including the new offerings that Jo Malone had to offer. In the end,I ended up purchasing one floral based fragrance and one fruit based fragrance for the little lady, but I couldn't help but be impressed at how wonderful I was treated by this representative of Macy's. I have to say it's refreshing because these days it's rare to get even mediocre customer service. So to all of you out there not all Karens are Bad, some are downright awesome! read more

I'll spare you my detailed list of all the department stores Federated/Macy's has consumed/acquired over the years. Suffice it to say, they are the medium level powerhouse, since most everyone else is part of their chain. They have a great bunch of brands and consistency. They've become better at not crowding the stores to make it difficult to walk. This one was quite good. I was buying an early birthday gift for a friend and while the clothes were already discounted, the salesperson working the register pulled up a back-to-school coupon code that saved even more. (I suppose I had the coupon code in an e-mail but don't currently have a way to print e-mails.) The only really bad thing about the store is that the Clearance racks were not organized at all. I know that they can't maintain them quite a lot but it didn't look as though other areas were really being maintained either. read more

Macy's, have you been wondering why your stores are basically empty and your sales are in the toilet? I can tell you why. Because your service stinks. I went to your Shoe Department, asked to try on a specific size of shoe, waiting for 20 minutes to see the young lady come back out and return to the cashier station. So I approach her and ask her if she was able to find my shoe, and she says to me let me go look. Disappears for another five minutes, comes back out and proceeds to ring people up so I get in line. And wait. When I get to the front of the line I said hey were you able to find those shoes in her she responded no. And I asked well were you going to come and tell me and she responded I'm sorry. I then went to lingerie department to purchase something. Found something I wished to purchase and then attempted to find an open cash register. There was a lady in the lingerie area cashing someone out but she told me her station was closed. So I had to go on a hunt. So I left. Good job Macy's I would've spent close to $200 today but instead I spent zero, congratulations. read more

I went to Vintage Faire Macy's to shop in the women's department. When I went to try clothes on there were a group of 4 men sitting right outside of the fitting room on a couch and several chairs. This is a little alcove before going into the plus size fitting room. They were sitting there watching the women go in and out of the fitting rooms while they were laughing and making comments. Needless to say I did not feel like being eyed top to bottom and subjected to the comments of these men. I tried calling the store to complain but was put on hold for over 15 minutes and just hung up. So I took my money and went to Dillard's in Stockton and was not subjected to this treatment and spent over $500 on clothes there. And there were not a men's viewing area right outside of their fitting room. read more

I went in to pick up an order for my mom...I told her not to order or shop w them. I went upstairs to get out into the mall and seen this skinny white lady she looked like a higher up w a name tag yelling at an employee and treating them so poorly...wow I was disgusted. I don't know where they are finding their employees but she should not be working anywhere. The employee just took it but me personally if I was employed there I'd report her (which I did and called Macy's cooperate about her) and walked out. Jacqueline Alvarez deserves an employee of the month and a promotion best sales associate ever. She went above and beyond to give me the best service possible. She's one of the rare kind-hearted people you rarely meet to make sure you leave happy and satisfied with your purchase. If you want someone who will help you with your furniture purchases this is the go to person. I had issues with my account verification and she would not take no for answer and made sure they solved the issue. It took 3 hours but she never left me behind or gave up never have I been more satisfied for someone to never give up on customer satisfaction. So I love Macy's and have had many good experiences here, however this visit I wasn't too pleased. I was in the shoe department browsing around and I'm pretty good at minding my business however these two employees very loudly were excessively gossiping about another employee it went on for the entire time of me browsing for shoes, I found that extremely unprofessional as neither of them even asked if I needed help because they were so caught up in gossiping about others that they work with. From what I saw on their name tags I believe the names were Shaylin or Shayla? And the other was Angel. I think Shayla? had to of been in her early 50s for sure and Angel seemed too young too be engaging in middle aged women's drama. I have no respect for "women" that degrade other women for no reason especially at the work place she should know better being a role model for the younger generation. I hope management eliminates their gossiping problems, the holidays are coming up and that's not very jolly. read more

**HOT STORE** While there are some wonderful salespeople, this has to be the nastiest Macy's I have ever visited. They finally replaced the old carpet in the dressing rooms. Apparently people were using it as a bathroom. If you are a regular you know what I'm talking about. I visited yesterday, early afternoon to purchase a few things that I needed asap. The dressing rooms upstairs were so hot. I could hear other people complaining about it as well. I asked the cashier if the ac was broken and she said no. "Macy's says the store is old so it is hot." YOUR WORKERS ARE SWEATING!!! Not to mention your miserable customers. This is unacceptable and just one of the reasons I prefer to drive out of the area to shop. read more

DO NOT BUY MACY'S FURNITURE! We are giving One star since no stars not an option. Terrible customer service - you are referred to "service companies" and they are unhelpful. Service and guarantees are sham. Over the years we have purchased a lot of furniture and have been happy with the quality and price. Last year we purchased two recliners that were delivered in June 2016. In early May 2017 we noticed the leather was peeling. The Modesto Macys, maybe all of the Macys chain is no longer a desirable place to shop. Dirty, unorganized, cluttered, not enough dressing rooms and consistently moving departments. This store used to be my go to for business and casual clothing and shoes. I can honestly say in the last few years this store is no longer a pleasant shopping experience. It looks like a bargain basement discount store without the discount prices. So wish we had a Dillards or Nordstroms in its place. read more

I went looking for a lipstick color the Lancome lady looked at me and said, "those lipsticks are over $20.00." This is specifically for Stacey in the customer service return desk. She has horrible customer service! She CLEARLY doesn't want to do her job and has a BAD attitude. Listened I worked for Macy's for almost two years in the past and their POS system is literally made for a dummy. Please don't lie to me and say a tag can't be made for a pair of Levi's jeans and I couldn't return it. I literally had two pairs of the same jeans just different color I returned one with tags and the other didn't have any. My dad had ripped them off to wear not realizing it was the wrong style. I didn't have the receipt and I paid cash. I bought them the same time same transaction. I know they can make a tag but she was playing extremely stupid. After her b***hing at me for no reason and saying she couldn't do it and I wasn't even giving her any attitude for her to speak to me like that. I just made it easy on her and just returned the pair that did have tags. I don't even know why the guy who was originally helping me brought you over, you're not even a manager. I wanted someone with the RED name tag. I wanted to exchange them for 559 I had originally bought 505. I then went to the Macy's men's store and got two 559s instead AND was able to RETURN and do an exchange for the other pair I had without tags WITH NO HASSLE or ATTITUDE by a sweet gentlemen there who found my return simply by making a tag and going off my receipt number from my other return! It wasn't hard! No longer than 2 mins at his counter. THIS JUST GOES TO SHOW THE DIFFERENCE IN CUSTOMER SERVICE EMPLOYEES. I finally caved and went shopping for furniture to complete my apartment. Not sure what I wanted I came into Macy's hoping to find some stylish pieces that would also be durable and functional. Aimlessly wandering the showroom, I was approached by a friendly woman who was willing to help build my room. We looked at every piece while I gave her some feedback on what I wanted in the realm of color, style, etc. After about an hour I finally decided on what I wanted. I'd have to say the buying process was easy but the delivery had some snags. I received everything I bought with exception of an end-table which was defective. This location is the closest to me. I frequent it the most for that reason and only that reason. Perla at customer service is unprofessional and lacks initiative. She always seems lost, confused and slow. The selection is okay and worth going to but for that reason only. Expect subpar customer service in all departments. I've been to several locations of this department store and none have been as bad as this one, aside from the tracy location, which wins the worst in selection. The value for the items in comparison to other stores who carry similar items, with brand names such as the ones that can be found at TjMaxx or Ross make this place look like a total rip-off. It doesn't help that they never answer their phone. I've never in my life have experienced such poor customer service in all my years of being a shopaholic. I wish i lived closer to another Macy's so I can continue to enjoy my shopping experience with access to my usual prestige brands I enjoy buying. read more

This store is a disgrace. The whole store is very dated and poorly maintained. All the carpets are beyond dirty, torn in places, taped with duct tape(!), buckled and warped, in some places actually being so wrinkled that they are in danger of causing people to trip. The parquet wood floors are everywhere dated (recall the 80's) horribly scratched and scarred and worn. Tile floors have cracked and broken tiles. Furnishings, counters, display racks are dirty, chipped, old and worn and rounders often rickety. Dressing rooms are often strewn with clothing. The grooves in the escalator treads are filled with grime. The store is absolutely filthy from top to bottom. It even smells bad from all the deep ground in dirt and filth. The sales staff are mostly indifferent, barely rising to mediocre. There are occasionally some good people that are helpful. I can't imagine how demoralizing it must be to work in such conditions. Even though it's obvious Macy's has no concern for it's customers and just wants to take money out of the area, and can get away with it because there's not much competition, I am surprised the company is not more concerned for it's brand. read more

Yesterday, while shopping in the men's section I came across, once again Karla Kelly, Macy's personal shopper. She is an amazing lady and provides excellent customer service. She took my armloads of clothing and directed me to a register and helped me select the rest of my merchandise. Karla has also assisted me in selecting clothing through our business for our client families and delivered the clothing. I did do some shopping in the womens suit section, which has been recently moved and it was an absolute disaster: suits were mismatched, all clumped together and so disorganized I could barely figure out what was what.... so I didnt make a selection.. I should have called Karla! Karla will shop for your items, make selections appropriate for your size, your color preferences and assist you in determining what is the right look for you, I highly reccomend her services and she has worked there for 34 years. I am thinking I may give her my christmas shopping list..:) read more

So I came to return some items and the lines in the juniors and the kids department were long. When I stood there for about 20 minutes waiting, two people came to the cashier to take clothes back.. Ahhhhem! See this long line.. Yes, it needs you to open another cash register. A little ridiculous! When I finally got to return my items, I decided not to shop because I didn't want wait in the line again. I came home and used my gift cards online. Coach purse counter - service is alway attentive, but need to have a clear line for register. People are allowed to cut in front of people and it's rude! Worse part - Ida is a very capable salesperson and very nice. However, in the last few years of my shopping there, she has almost killed me with her horrible breath. I feel really bad for her but Macy's needs to address this. She needs to be chewing mints or gum. I mean it's really BAD!!! Went in to buy new sheets for summer like I do every year and was shocked to learn, once I finally found an employee willing to notice me, that the girl who always helped me "was no longer there". Not only was she always very attentive and helpful, but her coworker said she was wrongfully fired. I couldn't believe it. I literally only went there because she was so cool and knew everything about the products in her department. This review is for the Bobbi Brown counter I was there to buy some products the person that helped me was very pushy in to me buying the colors he was suggesting for me. I understand that they are there to help you pick colors but it got the the point where I felt that he didn't want to sell me what I had selected. Claiming they were the wrong colors for my skin tone and that his selection was better. I have been here before and the same thing happened with the same guy very uncomfortable pushy in to buying what he thinks its best. I purchased the colors that I wanted and I am happy if I would have purchased his selection they would have not shown in my skin. when I was there the 1st time I bought what he told me and almost everything was returned with the exception of one item because I didn't liked them. Almost 2 years ago my husband bought me a Michael Kors purse and matching wallet for an early birthday gift, well the handle is fraying and the silver is tarnishing on both my purse and wallet. I called Macy's they said they only have a 30 day return policy but I could call Michael Kors directly so I did.. the guy proceeds to tell me it's a 1.5 year warranty after it's been made in China.....I have been sooooo mad and ranting and raving on every social media site to try to get someone to give me my 2 year actual warranty I found on the Michael Kors website. I still LOVE the petite's dept. SA's- they are dolls- and the Impulse section has stepped it up too. Also, the Prescriptives counter has color-matching!!!! Now you don't have to go to SF to get the right foundation. And while you're in the makeup section, it's always fun to play "find the tranny" at the counters. Those dudes look fierce! There's always a discount to be had at Macy's. Today I went and they asked if I wanted to donate to a reading program ($3). I said yes and did. Then they took $10 off my total for donating!
