Went to furniture section to purchase mattresses but could not get help the ladies that were working were to busy with talking to each other. I guess they must of thought I was not a real buyer? So I ended up going across the way to sleep number and spending $13800 on 5 mattresses that same day thinking to myself how much more $$ do these ladies cost Macy's? Well about a week had gone bye and I went in there again today this time looking at couches and haha guess what 2 ladies were in there paying no attention to me again? I stood around for 10 minutes when I finally got a lady from a different section who was going on break who offered to call one of the ladies for me, she then came up too me as if I had interrupted her from her conversation. This Macy's is TERRIBLE! The customer service throughout the store is really bad. I happen to know that they hire the people that work for them based on schedule only. You could be a great sales person and great customer services rep but if your schedule doesn't work with what they want even within 1 hour, they will not hire you. It does make sense when you see the trashy gross people that work there. Yeah, they all have nothing to do - no school or anything respectable going on in life. Macy's hires losers that have no time contraints because they live in the local trailer park picking their noses the rest of the time. OMG ! I was in Macy's Style Co dept. January 8th 2016 and was making a purchase I had a coupon for 10.00 off 25.00 old man ANTHONY was extremely rude!! My total came to 24.69 he refused to honor the coupon , I ask to call a manager he called her couldn't not explain to her , I advised to have the manager come talk to me , so Melissa came I did the talking and she honor the coupon , he walk off talking under his breath .... Have been trying to reach a human being to talk to by phone at the Macy's store in Modesto before I make the 11/2 hour drive from Twain Harte. After 45 minutes on the phone I'm giving up. Going to purchase a suit for my grandson this afternoon. Have decided to forego Macy's and shop at Men's Warehouse. Macy's is now operating without any customer service. Came to register on a weekday. Told that there was no one there to help us register, but the manager would get us started and help us register. Sat in the chairs for 20 minutes without anyone coming to help us. Finally, my fiance and I asked if the manager was available, and the employee states that the manager is busy helping customers! I live 65 miles away. I came into the store specifically for a box of Chanel No. 5 bath powder. The first girl I spoke with didn't know if they made bath powder. The second one handed me off to another person who told another person to get the box of powder, all behind a counter so piled high with product that you couldn't see over it. There were way too many people trying to be "helpful" and getting in each other's way. When I got home and took out my box of powder....it's Coco Chanel......NOT CHANEL NO. 5. This is a gift that I needed to get in the mail tomorrow. I don't have time to drive all the way back to Modesto to exchange it.....I'M PISSED!!! read more

My husband's wallet was stolen last night along with his ATM/Credit Card. The thieft charged $426 in your store this morning. All of our credit cards say "Check ID" on the back so we know that you didn't even bother to do that. Thank you for doing nothing to try to stop him. I called an order in to Macy's Clinique in Modesto, to receive gift along with $23.00 purchase. Clerk asked me 3 times on how to spell my street address. Also sounded like it was her very first transaction. She was nice however sounded like more training is needed. Also no help is usually available in kitchen/pots/dish ware dept. I received some great service in the Modesto Macy's on 12/29. I was on a call, headphones in my ears, and I had 3 people approach me while I was shopping. I HATE to be "on the phone" while shopping, but at that point, it was necessary. I blazed through the shoe department, looking for boots..wanted a camel colored boot..looked at Coach, which was the original intent. No size. Found Franco Sarto, picked the only color, dark brown, on the floor and asked for a size, again...I was still on the phone. The associate found me on the very busy floor and brought me a color that I did not ask for..camel. Tried them on and purchased. I paid with a Macy's card and she very graciously gave me an additional 15% off. I am a retail person, but have no patience for after Christmas shopping. This person, her name is elusive to me, brought me exactly what I wanted. Great work in the Modesto Macy's shoe department teaching your staff how to anticipate needs and up-sell. read more

I had previously ordered a Michael Kors Rhea backpack online, but once I received it, I noticed that it came with a few ink stains on the back. I was a bit disappointed since this had never happened to me before. Fortunately, there is a Macy's store about half an hour away from where I live. I arrived at the Macy's in the Vintage Fair Mall on February 5, 2016. I went over to the Michael Kors section and was immediately greeted by a sales associate named Mary, who later told me her last name was Devito. She was absolutely wonderful! My experience with her has been the best customer service I've ever had. The backpack that I had ordered was not in stock at the store, so she helped me find it at another store. Through the store's computer she was able to find me the same backpack at a much lower price. I was extremely happy when she told me about it, I honestly couldn't believe it. Throughout the whole process she was absolutely amazing, there were times where she would get disconnected from the other store, but she never got upset, and would immediately try to get in contact with the other store again. Once she was able to get in touch with the other Macy's store, she was able to secure the Michael Kors backpack for me, and they were even able to ship it to my house. I was absolutely amazed, I've seriously never had such amazing customer service. It is awesome sales associates like Mary who make me want to go shopping again. Thanks to Mary, I will definitely be shopping much more at Macy's. I don't usually write reviews or comments about customer service, but Mary definitely deserves it! read more

I am so impressed with the service given in the men's department by one female salesperson working in the dress slacks and one female salesperson working in the jeans department. I have gone in asking for a specific item for my husband and they have tirelessly shopped with me to my complete satisfaction. I am in my 60's and the service reminds me of how people used to be helped before cutbacks and the "hope you find what you are looking for and get to one of the centrally located registers to purchase your item. To my surprise the prices match many of the stores I already shop at and if you watch the sales, you can do really well. I would not hesitate to look there first due to the service. The only thing that I ever go to Macys for is their makeup counter. There is a sales girl there named Christina. She is actually an Este Lauder associate, but she is the most helpful, wonderful, patient sales person there. When I go I specifically ask for her. She helps me with all make up whether or not it is Este Lauder. Very knowledgeable, and endless amounts of patience for her customers. She keeps records of all my purchases, so when I forget a color, she even calls when there are specials. I can not say enough about Christina. The other women at the Este Lauder counter, are typical make up sales women. Very distant and uninterested in helping you. Ask for Christina when you go. read more

I agree with the user above. I am very disappointed in the unprofessional approach of the managers at macys. I am a frequent shopper at macys men and could not believe how the employees were being treated. I was recently shopping in the mens department when I noticed I was being followed by two men wearing a suit, very quickly I realized they were following an employee that was helping me. As I continued shopping I noticed The two men approach the young lady working in the department and began to scold her in front of me on the sales floor. They spoke to the young woman with such disrespect I could not believe what I was witnessing. I made very sure to get the names of these two men and they were in fact managers. Their names were Ivan and Bernard labeled against a red name tag. I don't understand how anyone expects their employees to be positive and provide service to their customers with optimism when working in such a intimidating and demeaning environment. I certainly hope the store manager will take the time and reevaluate his/her staff. read more

I came into your store looking for dresses for a bachlorette party and a wedding with my sister, aunt and nieces. We were all trying on numerous dresses. I had such a fabulous experience in the fitting roomby your fitting room associate, JOSIE!!! Every dress I tried on she would give me great advice, like that dress is perfect on you, it shows off your figure, or, umm that color is not right for you, or that dress is perfect, however if we have it in a size 5, that would be better. Its makes my shopping days easier with help like that, since I dislike shopping. So thank you JOSIE for going the extra mile in helping me find that perfect dress!!! I would also like to admire one other sales associate of yours, TONYA at the register. I had already paid for my 2 dresses, and while I was waiting for my sister to decide which dress she was going to purchase, Josie told her that both her dresses were 20% off. So I asked why I didnt get the discount, she immediately took me over to Tonya and Tonya took care of me. Since I only shop at Macys twice a year, which is to buy my dad his favorite cologne, Farenheight. for his birthday and Fathers Day, I can honestly say I will be shopping at this Macys from now on. I recently went in to Macys in Modesto Mall to purchase a piece of jewelry for my mother's birthday. I think it was probably obvious I did not know what I was doing but Gerad the associate there immediately greeted me and asked questions to help me find what I was looking for. I ended up purchasing her a beautiful diamond necklace. I think I would have settled for costume jewelry as the selection in the cases can be a little overwhelming, not with Gerad helping me, he narrowed it down for me, explained the difference in size and clarity of diamonds, even educated me about white gold. He found a coupon I did not even know about and did this all while being interrupted, having to answer phones and even other employees asking him questions. Gerad never missed a beat and never broke contact with me... I felt like I was his personal friend that he was helping out. I asked for his card so that whenever I go back I could ask for him. WIsh I could take him around the store and have him help me with all of my other shopping. Dresses and acts extremely professional yet very personable. I am going to send all my friends and family to him. I tell them "I went to Gerad". Wish the store was full of people like him. A+ on customer service. read more
