This is by far the most run down Macy's I've ever seen. Everything was over priced--I was there 4th of July weekend, absolutely no sales. They even had the audacity to say come back on the actual holiday July 4th and they may have sales. The bathrooms are filthy and smell like urine that had not been cleaned for months. I went to Macy today and visited the cosmetic department. I was pleasantly surprised to noticed that they hired new salespeople who are not only knowledgable but also nice. I has an especially good experience at the Shiseido counter as well as with Estee Lauder and Dior. This Macy's is the only department store in South Beach and should be a showcase. Maybe something is moving, let's hope so. read more

You better go here all dressed up. I went after work (I work at a cafe nearby) and I asked to try Converse shoes. The guy offered help after his boss told him I looked like I needed help. Then I showed him a picture to ask if they had certain shoes, he told me the shoes I tried on are the same as I was showing in the picture with a bad attitude. Then I said no, these are two different shades of white and the one's I'm showing you are the same white the whole shoe. Then he said "well these are the ones we have". Asshole. I bought shoes end of November at Macy's. I I kept the ticket just in case as I didn't have the time to try them. On the back of the ticket it reads in bold letters 180 days. I decided to return them but was traveling during the holidays and truthfully thought I had 180 days. Back from travels I went to Macy's today. I had a very frustrating Interaction win one of the manager (Carmen). she clearly stated she wouldn't help me unless i get a Macy's Card. I used to have one indeed. I did then politely ask for her manager. She got offended, unfortunately, while this is the logical escalation process. She refused to let me speak to her boss, and told me nobody would help. I left, really frustrated because it took me 45 minutes to drive there, and I didn't know about this "last act" policy. I think I haven't been treated fairly. I'm disappointed, to say the least. I like Macys a lot. However some of the Hispanic or Latino sales staff can be belligerent and unfriendly! Today was no different as a friend and I looked at the perfumes there and asked if there were any perfumes discounted. Much of the store is and Macys write to me about once a week to invite their customers in to buy at discounted prices. The response I got from the sales woman was that this is not Marshals or a discount store, so no! I went to the jewelry counter and chose something for my friend, only to be assailed by yet another rude woman. I called for a manager and told her to deal with this one, and find me a polite one to help us which she did. Can't these rude women who have seen better days try a little harder to be kind, and will Macys please ensure they do! read more

The sole purpose of this review is to credit two employees of this Macy's location because I know it's more than necessary to. Quite the shocking stark-difference from all my other Macy's visits. It was a breath of fresh air to come across true solution-oriented/attentive sales leads. Maria, the manager in jewelry, & Hugo (in shoes) went above and beyond with their customer service. I needed to make a rather complicated return (one I was dreading because I knew it took a few extra steps than the normal return process since I didn't have my receipt etc. etc.) Nevertheless, Hugo grabbed Maria who made the lengthy return as bareable as possible and her impressive customer service and managerial knowledge of the system and what to do for this return process blew me away. I've been a long time Macy's card holder and I frequent this store quite often. I've never seen such attentive detail to a customer issue the way these two demonstrated to me at this visit. Needless to say, I will continue to shop this Macy's location only and will be sure to scout out Hugo or Maria each time. I'm forever appreciative of the time and patience they both spent on my issue and with proper decorum and guest service/customer service & attention to detail, I was able to be in and out within 15 minutes. I cannot praise these two enough. Macy's south beach you have two phenomenal employees on your team. Treat them both excellent because you won't ever have to worry about guest experience with these two winners on your team. Hugo and Maria--thank you so much. I'm not big on Macy's. I prefer Nordstrom, but I do have to agree that Macy's has more deals and discounts, particularly for Macy's cardholders. So, since this one is pretty close to us, whenever we need to buy a gift or get something without spending hours at the mall, we just come over the bridge, get what we need and go on our merry way. My review is more than anything for their service, particularly in three departments. BCBG/French Connection (women's dpt): There is a blond lady with very bright lipstick and a foreign accent (not Hispanic) who tends the register in this area... she is AMAZING! Super nice and friendly, she leaves you alone to shop while you take your time through departments and then come back with armloads of stuff. She is attentive in the fitting room, and when Emilio wanted me to try on a swimsuit we'd seen on a mannequin downstairs, she ran downstairs to look at it and know which one he was talking about. Super nice!!!! Benefit Counter (makeup): Stephanie is the attendant at this counter, and she is super nice. We first met her in early December of last year, where she was in another counter talking with an associate and was more than willing to help us in that area, then she took us to the Benefit counter to complete the purchase. When we returned on my birthday, she even gave me a little Benefit's make up gift. Always with a cheery disposition, we've always returned to her counter regardless of what purchase in the makeup/perfume dpt we're making. Sunglass Hut: The attendants here have been very nice. While Emilio shopped not long ago, I walked around trying all the frames imaginable, and the girl didn't mind getting them for me, despite me telling her I wasn't buying anything. She was super sweet about it. And a plus, when Emilio returned a couple of days later to get me one of the glasses I'd tried on and he liked on me, they helped him figure out exactly which one it was (out of more than 20 I'd tired on). They're very patient and friendly at letting you try the glasses you like. The shoe dpt and the men's dpt in this store are not very big, and their selections are limited, but in all, everyone has always been attentive. I've only had one experience in the shoe dpt where I left the shoes I was going to purchase for lack of attention, but that was only one instance of many. read more

Wooo, I'm getting dizzy. Sometimes there is good service. Sometimes the salespeople are gruff and curt. I've been treated both well and rudely. Sometimes you walk in and find what you want, on sale, for a great price. Sometimes you can't find anything decent for less than what seems like 150% of retail (otherwise known as original MSRP - and who pays THAT?) This store is really hit or miss. Last year, for about 6 months, I vowed never to return... but I did and was happy to find a few pairs of exactly what I wanted. Last month, I was in a pinch for a black jacket because the cleaners had lost mine. They had Calvin Klein for $350, the old sailor jacket (with the big metal buttons) on sale for $75 or some decent though not spectacular brand for $175. It was great to find what I needed but I felt like I could have found the same no-name jacket for $50 at TJ Maxx (though not the one on the Beach b/c they don't carry jackets, dress shirts or ties). I wasn't about to lay out MSRP for Calvin Klein. All told it's convenient to have a mini-department store in the neighborhood when I need cologne, sunglasses or sometimes clothes, but I can imagine some improvements. read more

We are in town for a friend's wedding, and after being informed the reception was on grass, I realized the heels I'd brought were too narrow and would sink into the ground. Macy's to the rescue! This is not a very large branch (2 floors), but it more than served my purpose. They had a wide selection of great shoes, many different styles and brands. (I actually had to rein myself in, as there were quite a few pair I was tempted by.) I found just what I needed for the wedding, plus a pair of cute casual sandals as well, and with my Macy's card I got a nice discount! Shoe crisis solved. read more

Will I be going back to Macy's in South Beach? Hell to the no. The customer service is abysmal! A few months back I bought a watch there and spent a pretty penny. I'm no P.Diddy/Sean Combs/Sean Jean, or whatever the kids are calling him these days, I didn't drop a few grand but my watch was pricey. A few days later (not so detail oriented I guess), I notice that 2 of the four dials aren't programmed properly. I spend way too much time trying to figure out how to fix it. Actually, given that I have the manual and that hooked on phonics worked for me, I am certain I know how to fix it but this cursed watch is not responding to my demands. It doesn't seem to appreciate my sweet and tender touch and isn't into that rough stuff either. I hand it over to several people hoping they can get the job done. No win. So I walk in one day and tell the man at the counter that I may have a faulty watch but if he could give it a go, I'd greatly appreciate his help. I have never seen a man look so perplexed in my life. It was as if a fully functioning watch was the most absurd idea he had ever heard. What do you mean, date? It took me a good 15 minutes to explain to the man (who sells watches for a living) that the correct date was supposed to be represented on the watch. He fidgeted with it while I waited 20 minutes and gave it back to me all wrong. Buddy, you see the dial that only goes up to 12? Uh, you think maybe that might represent the month and maybe not the day? No? I guess not. Despite it being just as bad as before (actually, worse because now even the time was off), he actually gave off an air of annoyance. I was not about to sit there any longer in order to explain the basics of space and time to this guy. If he had been nice, he could have been sucking on his thumb the whole time for all I care but don't you dare give me that pissy attitude for simply asking that my watch work properly. Yeesh. Now, I don't fault the entire Macy's corporation for employing this individual because there are always exceptions. I'm flexible, I can deal with this so I continue to shop there occasionally... until today. (Cue dramatic music... dun dun dun!) We're on our way out and as we pass the threshold of the door my sister grabs her foot and starts hopping around. Given that she's not prone to spontaneous acts of public dancing, I quickly realize I have just been given a gift. A stubbed toe and it's not on me so I get to watch her grab her leg a la Peter Griffin while I laugh at her about it. Then I notice the expression on her face and she's clearly crossed over into the not funny pain. Damn, such a wasted opportunity. She points to her chancleta in sheer horror and I see what looks like a giant thumb tack sticking out of her shoe. Her foot is bleeding. Crap. I jump into action mode which basically just means, find a band-aid. I ask the first employee I see who starts looking through drawers when his co-worker informs him that he needs to send me to the office and I'll need to fill out an incident report in order to get a damn band-aid. I follow him into an office where he requests one from two women. They don't look up at me because I guess basic human decency isn't part of their job description. "Is she an employee?" "No, a customer." "Oh then we don't have any." WHAT?!! Now, I'm not a litigious person but I happen to know how things work in this country and A.) You're supposed to have a first-aid kit B.) Someone just got hurt in your store, you're supposed to at least pretend to care. So that's when I get pissed and give her a piece of my mind because up until now all I wanted was a friggin' band-aid and am I going to have to file a complaint? So she says that security can help (still never having actually looked up at me). I am greeted by a guy with eyes so hazy I can only assume he has been sleeping for the past few hours or that he just smoked a fat one. "What do you want?" (Extra customer service points on that one!) "My pregnant sister just got poked by something we can only pray doesn't have herpasyphillisgonorrhea on it and she's bleeding, can I please have some alcohol and a band-aid?" "Hold up." He comes out with one band-aid and an alcohol wipe and follows me to the door. By this point she's already gotten one from a kind stranger who saw her bleeding on the sidewalk and decided to help. (It was a tiny cut. I exaggerate for dramatic effect. Still, she's pregnant and terrified of what she may possibly have just contracted). He picked up the "weapon" and examines it. "Are you okay?" "I guess so." And he walks away. I'm distracted for a moment and my sister yells, "WATCH OUT!" The smartest person on earth had thrown it back on the ground and I almost stepped on it myself. Sigh. Ain't nobody got time for these clowns! read more

Welcome to what locals refer to as "the worst Macy's ever." They redid the store and it's still awful. They offer less than half of what other Macy's offer and don't carry any of the higher-end brands at all. If you live on the Beach and are in need of something last minute, chances are you're still going to have to schlepp all the way to Aventorture to get it because finding it here just isn't going to happen. read more

After shopping here we later realised we had forgotten a bag in the store and called back to see if they found it. Service was worse than horrible and anyone we got to talk to immediately connected us to some other department in the store without explanation. While I agree that you might not be able to get everything you want here - I have had occasional good service and found some EXCELLENT deals. If you pay the real sticker price, items may be expensive - but it always seems like they are running sales and if you can score some, it's cheaper than walmart. I actually got some fabulous $25 tee-shirts for about $7 after all their coupons and discounts, and they SUPER comfy - great deal! I have come here several times seeking "high-end" presents for friends, and I am a little annoyed that the cosmetics counters are out of high-end bags for their $30-$40 lipsticks, etc. I mean, if I'm buying a $40ish channel lipstick as a present, I want the black and white channel bag to go with it!! Sometimes the counter staff is too lazy to look for one, and in that case, you must walk around to different staff to see if you can find someone motivated enough to search. I was able to get one of the girls to find a Dior bag for her lipstick, and ended up with the nicest little looking gift ever! While it's not the neatest department, this Macy's also has an extensive gift wrapping section (that you pay for and I believe DIY/do it yourself). Really nice packaging but it's always nicer to get brand-name at the counter for free! Enjoy!!! read more

The South Beach Macy's has less choices than Dadeland and it feels more like a fancier JC Penney but overall the customer service is nice when they get to you. This store can definitely be your saving grace if you need to find a quick gift. read more

Walked in here just a couple of minutes ago. The Macy's is smaller then what I am use to coming from New York. I was looking for a black pair of dress up shoes. When a large employee comes up to me and greets me, of course I greet him back. I continue to look through the shoes but the whole time see this man following me through the store. He would pretend to be fixing shoes just to look at me. It was probably the most uncomfortable shopping experience I've ever had in my life. I felt his eyes burning a hole through me and after 2 min he comes up to me asking if "I am looking for anything specific." I replied "I was looking for dress up shoes but you are making me extremely uncomfortable and in going to leave." He didn't have anything to day since he probably does it all day and has nobody tell him anything. Overall I left the store just angry and disgusted that this still happens in this day in age. read more

i have honestly noticed a decine in customer service throughout all macy's - from Las Vegas to Miami - over the past few years. I am not sure if they are hiring subpar staff, trying to exude some sort of "indifferent air" to their customers...whatever it is, it is not working. I have walked out of more Macy's empty handed thanks to poor customer service, inattentive staff, clothing that looks like it was already worn or damaged, inability to find anything outside of a 4 or 16...and the shoe department? I only will order online - they apparently carry only 7's and 10's anymore and act like its your fault their offerings don't fit you. I am hoping that Macy's management starts reading all of these posts - including the one for the downtown store where you are ASSAULTED walking in by their sales people almost demanding you obtain a credit card (so absolutely disgusted i turned on the spot and walked out, to which the sales person mumbled something behind my back).... Macys fix your staff and stuff or your are going to end up out of business or being treated like the WalMart of department stores! read more

Since Venitian Causeway was shut down due to repairs, I could not drive North in time for an appt in Aventura to have make up done. Stopped into Macy's on Lincoln Rd and asked Maria at the Bobbi Brown counter if she cld help. Luckily, she cld. She did a lovely job with my make up. I got a lot of compliments at my event. She was also able to assit other clients due to the fact that I had some time to spare but was very courteous. She sent the brush I needed to my house bc it was not in stock. I will def be back when I need GLAM again in the future! read more

To begin the woman bathroom smell awful and the sales people in this store are very rude they looked us with dirty eyes i was with my baby, the carper was filthy and the more awful is the Santa poster next to the elevator with two woman's posing was #$@% dessrespefull to any family , i been a miami beach costumer to this store since it was Burdines and i can tell with in the last four years the store have go down, i will never buy in this Macy's store again until it change. read more

I purchased a pair of sunglasses back in February. 3 weeks later, my sister broke them. I wasn't aware of the return policy so I missed my '90 day return for free exchange' window. While on vacation in South Beach, I ran across a new pair that I fell in love with and wanted to exchange my broken pair for. When I called my home store (in Arlington, VA) the rep very rudely let me know that I was out of luck and couldn't exchange them because there was a price difference. (The policy basically says that anything of equal or greater value can be exchanged. My new favorites were $5 cheaper than the broken pair.) He SERIOUSLY suggested that I would have to pay full price for the new pair just because of the $5 difference!! That was ludicrous, so I called customer service. There wasn't a manager available so i left a message requesting a return call. About 2 weeks later, i get a call from Jonathan (Lolley) from the Macy's Sunglass Hut in Miami. What refreshing customer service!!! Not only did Jonathan apologize profusely for being misinformed by my home store's rep, but after i explained the situation to him, he took my number and promised to call right back. he called my home store, explained the REAL policy to them, had the mgr put my new favorite pair aside, and told her that I would be coming in to pick them up and to give them to me according to the true policy. Minutes later, he called right back (as promised), gave me all the contact info of the asst and store mgrs so I would know who to contact, let me know exactly where to pick up my new glasses and how to complete my exchange. he was never rude, never short with me, his communication skills were totally on point, and he even invited me to come visit him the next time I was in Miami!!
