Okay, we've walked through Macy's dozens of times and even occasionally bought an item or two. During our last visit, we popped into the bargain section in the back and actually got good deals on some paring knives and some men's socks. More of a TJ Maxx or Ross's vibe in that section. We had to take the items to the other end of the store to pay but every place seems to be shortstaffed and trying to hire at the moment. read more

My experiences with Macy have been less than adequate. Opened dispute that I gave up on resolving because the process was convoluted and one sided. Recently, I ordered shirts for Christmas gifts and they did not remove the security tag from one of the shirts. Of course this means I will have to travel to the store to take care of this. My online orders are often delayed-which can be frustrating when expecting the item to be delivered in 3-5 days. Needless to say, Macy's hasn't provided a good shopping experience for me. Good customer service is very important to me. Shopping with Macy's is something that I don't have to do, so I'll be moving on. read more

Do NOT buy furniture from Macy's. I spent $3400 on a large sectional couch at the beginning of July. It was delivered September 20th, almost 10 weeks after it was purchased and to make matters worse it was delivered broken. Upon calling Macy's customer service 4 days after receiving the broken couch I was told that they needed to send a "technician" to confirm that the couch was broken. I was told that they would receive the technicians report the following day and that Macy's would call me to schedule a replacement. Two weeks later I still have not heard from Macys so I called customer service again, only to be told that they never received the report and they neglected to follow up at all. They said someone would call me in another 2-3 weeks to schedule a replacement, which would take another "7-9 weeks". Macy's shipped a $3400 couch knowing that it was broken and they have don't absolutely nothing to help rectify this situation. I will never spend another dollar at Macy's. Buyer beware. read more

Anyways, Avon helped me out and she was incredibly kind and helpful. I saw some reviews about some employees with poor attitudes towards customers, but that was certainly not the case for me today. Let me just say, I'm not a big Macy's fan as they took over my favorite store in Chicago, Marshall Fields, but when it comes to the holidays I know I can still get the coveted Frango mints that Fields was known for at my local Macy's. Yes! So I placed an order online today and saw that there were actually some in the store itself. I set those up for pickup and the rest to be shipped through the mail. In less than two hours it was ready for pickup. I had no idea where in the store the service area for pick up was so asked a couple employees, both were really nice, and I had walked right past it! Before I even got back there one of the employees was already there and in no time I had my order and was out the door. So, at least I know the service was good, my order was ready, and that made me very happy! read more

I received the worst service here. Macy's in Durham. They didn't remove the security tag from one item. I had to drive 15 miles back again. At the store I asked if they would give me a discount or something for my troubles. The sales person said - Tough luck. It happens. She literally said that. Very disappointed in this Macy's. Went in right when it opened with the intent of replacing all of my makeup. Saleswoman at the makeup counter was working with a customer so I patiently waited off to the side. She acknowledged me after 5min saying "I'll be with you when I can." So I said, "that's fine." Then a couple minutes later she came over and said, "what can I do for you?" So I said, "I need help choosing colors." She immediately blew up at me and yelled, "LOOK, I AM IN CHARGE OF 3 COUNTERS...." And something like I could figure that out by myself. I was completely shocked as she walked away and turned her back to me. I then said, "okay...are you not going to help me then?" I don't remember what she said, but it was aggressive. I told her this which she disputed. I cannot believe how poorly I was treated. The crazy part was I was willing to wait for her, but she flat out did not want to, apparently. Mind you, there was no one else there except me and that other customer...I ended up going to Nordstrom and spending $600 on makeup with wonderful customer service. You can find good deals on sale sometimes, regular price typically a bit over priced. I feel like Macy's has given up on good customer service. Whether it's dealing with them on the phone because they mess up an online order or dealing with in store associates, it's never a good experience. I will say that the ladies at the Estée Lauder makeup counter were very nice and helpful but what really rubbed me the wrong way was the sales associate at the shoe department. I came into the store at around 11:30am on a weekday and waited for a few minutes before deciding to shop around the mall and come back because the line of women waiting for assistance was pretty long. So, I came back a couple hours later and yes, it was easier to find an associate to help me but she wasn't a very happy camper and seemed put out that I had asked to try on some shoes. After she gave me the shoes to try, she disappeared and was nowhere to be found. I had to ask another guy for help and he asked who had been helping me, I would've told him had she given me her name or the time of day. Later I saw that she was hanging out behind the wall next to the cash register as were a few other sales associates. Seems they were too busy hanging out with each other to help out customers. I'm disappointed in Macy's. I used to like them but from the Macy's in Las Vegas, San Antonio, Virginia and now Durham I've just realized they've given up on customer service so I should give up on them. read more

What the Hell happened to the men's department at Macy's at the Streets at Southpoint? I hate shopping for business clothes, so once a year I'll go out to Macy's and stock up on dress shirts, pants, ties, etc ... Well, it was time to update the wardrobe so I made myself head out to south Durham to get it done. What I found was a men's department in total disarray, with little to offer. I understand things may be a bit chaotic when moving stock around, retiring things that are out of season, putting new items out; I get that, but what I saw today looked like someone came in and deliberately trashed the place. And the people who were working today acted like they didn't care. No one was interested in fixing displays or doing much of anything. Worst of all was the men's changing room near the suits. I took a pair of pants back to try on and every single changing room was littered with hundreds ... literally hundreds ... I am not exaggerating when I say HUNDREDS ... of straight pins. All over the floors, and stuck into the walls. I had to do a very careful balancing act after I slipped my shoes off to avoid stepping on the floor (I stepped on -top- of my shoes). It was like a scene from one of those "Saw" torture-porn horror movies. Why on Earth would a sales associate direct me to use one of those changing rooms? Didn't he know what it was like back there? Did he just not care? I was sincerely shocked. And to top it all off, after picking through the rubble of their meager offerings I walked away with just one pair of pants and two shirts ... so I had to go into the mall and shop elsewhere to get what I needed ... which made an already unpleasant experience just that much more unpleasant. This Macy's is just bad compared to the Macy's in Crabtree Mall in Raleigh. Even though I live 1 mile away from Southpoint, if I had to specifically do something at Macy's, I would go to Raleigh. One shoe salesman in particular made my boyfriend and me never want to come back here: (1) The salesman actively avoided eye-contact with us, even though it was obvious we needed help. One cannot try on shoes without the assistance of a shoe salesman. We snagged him, however, and (2) he was really snippy about which shoe bf wanted to try. I got up and pointed to the shoe on the rack, which was the exact same shoe that bf was holding. He brought out black instead of brown, which was fine because we were not in a rush, but (3) he was very annoyed at US for pointing out his error. Well, bf decided to buy the boots. We got in line behind another customer who had just written a check at the cash register. (4) We overheard salesman say, "I told you the wrong amount." No apology or anything. Salesman sounded so angry at the customer for inconveniencing him to have to stand there longer. Since customer was going to have to write another check, bf and I decided to go to another register. Isn't that the beauty of department stores? You can check out anywhere. Well... salesman called us out. (5) He said very loudly, "You can't leave this area." I did not appreciate getting called out in the middle of a store. When we asked him why, he said, "I got you the shoes, so I get commission. You have to check out here." After bf told the salesman that he didn't want him to get commission because of his huge reluctance with helping us and the negative experience we had with him, we just left and went to another counter where we called a manager. (Note: The manager was nice.) Everyone has a bad day, but this was inexcusable. I hope that manager went and did some damage control because who knows how many customers that one salesman with the bad attitude lost for this Macy's location? At least 2, that's for sure. read more

Great store and big selection in the store department. I got some hot and sexy pixie boots yesterday at the preview sale. The staff for the most part was friendly except for one guy. I overheard him being snobbish to a customer that was asking for his help. He said he was busy helping someone else and he walked around me like I wasn't there. But anyway before i got my shoes i made a return at the Estee Lauder counter and the girl working was so snotty acting when i conversated with her. Upon entering the woman in the shoe department was playing music so loud on their Bose system that you could hear it upstairs in the kitchen department. No prices on anything in the kitchen area and no one working anywhere in the general vicinity. When we finally checked out the cashier looked right past our faces to the right or to the left but never at us. How rude! read more

I concur with the rest of the comments on the service here: it's awful. My experience started with get ignored while shopping. Then indifference, as the guy helping me seemed annoyed that he had to help me. Then he decided to tell me that one way I could find a fitting suit would be to lose some weight because hey, let's mix customer service with insults! That makes the client feel really good. To his credit (because it did work out), he did tell me that Crabtree Valley had the jacket in the right size, so I could go over there and buy it. I was honestly considering getting more stuff than the suit, but I just bought the pants and left because I wanted no part of being there anymore. Also from what I can tell no in-house tailor for that sort of thing, which is too bad. Basically, I'm never shopping at this Macy's again. I'll go to Crabtree Valley, or to Belk. The people at Belk are nice. read more

So if I could give a negative review, I would! The employees of the shoe department have some of the worst customer service skills. There were tons of staff standing around not engaging with customers. The guy that went to get me shoes from the back made a mistake not once but twice and when I informed him of the mistake the second time and I quote "I'm so damn tired, oh sorry." I believe his name was Wesley. When he came from the back for the second time, it was evident that he didn't listen to me and simply said we don't have it. I explained in the box there were a mismatch and he said oh. He looked miserable so when he finally did ask if I would like to order something on line I said no bc this is taking up too much of my time. If you don't listen to me your customer, and don't even make any effort to fake it, I can assure you that I will take my business somewhere else! read more

Sometimes they have good deals, but I mostly just avoid Macy's at Southpoint now. I always have trouble locating someone to help me in the home department. During my last visit, I stood at a cash register and had 4 different employees come and go to that station without one asking if I needed help, telling me that someone would be with me, or in any way acknowledging my presence. The bathrooms are outdated. Worse, I've never been in one that was clean. Their carpet is very filthy and looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years. I'm not sure it can be successfully cleaned at this point. read more

This review is specifically for the gentlemen in the men's suit department. One particular salesman glanced at my son and pretty much knew what size he wore. He verified with a tape measure and directed us to a slim-fit suit which was very appropriate for a young man who wears a suit maybe 3 times a year. We've been back to the same department a few times, and they always help us find what we need. Maybe I just look like I have no idea what I'm doing in a men's section (which is pretty accurate), but they have always been helpful. Like all retail, a few more personnel to assist customers in a timely manner would be a plus. read more

Vilma in the bedding and bath section was very kind, friendly, and nice. She checked me out although I did not have an item from the bedding department. That was very kind of her. Really disappointed with this location. My husband and I chose Macy's as the only place we would register for our wedding because it's easy to shop online and they usually have a better selection. We registered at the store in Atlanta, and the staff there were so knowledgeable, friendly and patient. They took time to really listen, which in customer service is a huge huge part of it. After getting married, we visited the Raleigh Macy's location and they had an absolutely amazing girl named Ashley who helped us above and beyond what I ever would have expected. She was so knowledgeable and friendly, she really made the experience enjoyable and she not only helped us, but also any other person that came within 15 ft of her. She really cared to help everyone and she made you feel like you were a valued customer. The Southpoint location however, I will absolutely never go to again even though I live within a 5 minute drive of it. We had some gift cards and needed some bedding so we thought to give this one a try. I have never felt so mad after shopping in my life. The woman who "helped" us actually caused my normally calm husband to have to rush to my defense. I was looking at some pillows, found a couple I liked, but there was no price listed for them. The register was nearby, so we approached the woman standing behind the register and I proceeded to ask what the price of the pillows was. She glared at me as if I'd interrupted something important and told me I could scan them on my own anywhere in the store. I was kind of stunned, so I asked again if she could just scan them real quick because I wasn't sure where those scan spots were. She rolled her eyes at me, which I tried to be pleasant and ignore. After she scanned one, she said it was $85 which was more than I was willing to spend on a pillow. I said, thanks but that was too much for me. She then asked if I had a Macy's card, to which I replied no, but I wasn't interested in buying those pillows or opening a card. She then snapped at me and said "well, if you had the sense to open one it wouldn't be so expensive" and started rolling her eyes and shaking her head at me like I was the biggest idiot. My husband again told her all we wanted was the price of them and we weren't ever intending to buy them, to which she replied that we shouldn't have wasted her time by bringing them to the register. She then looked me right in the face and shook her head at me again with a look like I was the dumbest person she had ever talked to. My husband turned bright red and asked to speak to her manager. She then shook her head at him and said she couldn't leave the register and didn't know where a manager was. At that point, we just left. He called and told the manager later, but the damage is done. I'm sure there are great staff members at this location, but I would rather spend time and money somewhere else where customer service isn't a burden. read more

Words cannot begin to describe my terrible experience with the Macy's furniture and bedding department. After the hassle I doubt I will ever shop at Macy's again and will likely be cutting up my Macy's card. I have ordered furniture and mattress sets from Macy's before, when living in other parts of the country, with minimal problems. So I went to the Southpoint store on Oct. 19 to order a mattress set for my guest bedroom. When I arrived in the mattress section of the store there were no salespeople to be found and I had to flag one down. But eventually I picked the mattress I wanted and had no problems purchasing or choosing a delivery date, although the first one offered to me was 11 days in the future. Two days before my scheduled delivery date I received an automated voice call that my delivery was preemptively canceled due to the impending Hurricane Sandy and would be rescheduled for later in the week, on a date I could not do. I thought it was unnecessary to cancel since the mattress was only coming from Richmond, VA (supposedly), but I guess they were freaking out up there, so fine. I called and re-re-scheduled for the next available date, Nov. 6. But when Nov. 5 arrived without any confirmation calls from them, I got worried. So I called to confirm and was told that although the computer showed me scheduling a Nov. 6 delivery, it never actually got scheduled. ??? And even worse they would not give me a new delivery date! They said they couldn't get into that system because the warehouse is closed on Mondays. What??? What kind of national department store chain can't access one of their systems on Mondays? The customer service agent told me she would try to resolve the matter first thing the next morning and call me. Yeah, that never happened. This type of fake-out service and false promising is something that Time Warner Cable pulls. I really didn't expect it from Macy's. Especially when an $800 mattress set is on the line. I called Tues morning the 6th to get some answers on my delivery and was given no answers whatsoever, just a new set of excuses and canned answers. This time I was told that the warehouse system and delivery schedule could STILL not be accessed because of Hurricane Sandy damage in New Jersey. OK. I feel bad for those people, I really do. But what does it have to do with my mattress delivery to NC? Do you not have a backup computer system to access and give me a new delivery date? Apparently not. Then it gets even weirder. On my original delivery date (Oct. 30) I received a voice mail from the Southpoint store salesperson who sold me the mattress. She wanted to check to see if it was delivered properly and she also wanted to sell me the extended warranty. She called me from her personal cell phone. I thought maybe she could assist me and move things along, so I tried calling her. I hit redial on her number and she answered. I said "Is this the salesperson from Macy's?" And she said no and acted like she didn't know what I was talking about. I called the exact same number she called me from. What the hell? The next morning I tried the national delivery number again and after going through the menu I got an automated message that the department was closed and that their business hours were 9am-5pm ET. I was calling at 9:45am!!! This happened twice, and it was the last straw. I called the Macy's card line and eventually got through to the furniture and bedding dept and canceled my order (my card had not yet been charged). And then I went to Sleepy's and ordered a new mattress which is now here in my possession. I totally won't be surprised though if in a few months a Macy's truck shows up at my door with a mattress. I went to Macy's and we shopped at Estée Lauder and the lady working for Estee was superb with excellent customer service. After couple hour at around 7:20-7:30, when me and my friend was looking to checkout few dresses. Nobody was present at the dress counter so we went to customer service to ask if they can check us out so , we politely asked if we can do that there. There was this grumpy woman in her 50s at the Macy's customer service counter (which was empty at that time), who started reading very loudly THAT THIS COUNTER is AT YOUR SERVICE and said all the cashiers are open in the store so go there. I have never seen such rude woman in Macy's, and this is the first time I had such experience at this store. She could have just said we can't do that over here as we had three dresses. That's it. I told her I can read, and you don't have to be rude like this. I don't know why is Macy's employing such a rude woman who can't even talk nicely to the customers who come shop and spend their money and get a trashy service. This behavior is unacceptable. I went to backstage and ladies over there were nice too. So, Macy's you got 1 star because of the grumpy rude lady. read more

May 11th I took my daughter there to find a dress for her 8th grade formal. There were no associates around to maintain the fitting room or behind the cash register and we were there for at least an hour. Finally we saw one upset woman grab a few dresses that were left in the fitting area to put them back on the floor, but she didn't even look up to acknowledge the chaos. The fitting rooms smelled and they were very dirty. Stuff was on the walls, it was disgusting. I told my daughter we needed to leave but she begged to stay and at try on the dresses she'd picked out. I gave in and stayed. Crowds of people were in the fitting area taking anywhere from 10 to 20 items to the back, or more, and there were even people eating back there! It was ridiculous. A woman and her daughter were looking for a formal dress too and two teenage girls walked into there changing room, the woman said "what are you doing?!" They laughed and said "oh we thought we left something in there." The girls kept laughing and hurried out. If someone were around to AT LEAST keep an eye on the amount of people coming into the fitting room maybe it wouldn't have gotten so bad. It's sad how bad that Macy's section has gotten. Macy's is what it is. It used to be a great store, now it's an okay store. Yes, I am a loyal customer, partially because of the Macy's credit card, partially because of all the huge savings you can catch as a result. They mail me really valuable coupons every couple of months, and if I use them they pay out in a big way. In my opinion, the mens store is great, the womens is so-so. For me, as a 20-something woman, most of the clothes are too "old" or too "young". That being said, you can't beat the sales or the deals Macy's will offer to you as a cardholder, and if you're willing to dig through the mostly a-ok selection, once in a while you'll find a real steal. read more

This Macy's is not like the stores that you will find in NY. The clothing selection is not as fashionable and I'm not just saying that to sound like a snooty former New Yorker. They also need more sales associates to assist customers. The associates have little regard for your time. They do not try to hurry when they see multiple customers waiting. I've had that experience too many times at this location. The sales tax is also higher than in Raleigh. This store needs to do better. read more

They appeared that they had a good selection except there was only one sales associate who was running to get the shoes in the back...on a Saturday afternoon. I have been in North Carolina for a few months now, visiting my son in the pandemic period. I came only with one suitcase full of winter clothes, I couldn't wait until Macy's opened up. So I finally went to buy some summer clothes from the beautiful Macy's store that is located at the south point shopping mall in NC. I was amazed to find out that Macy's had really prepared for the pandemic. There were hand sanitizers placed at almost every corner and everywhere you looked. the store seemed neat and organized. I saw workers spraying the desk at the cash registers after each client. They were wiping out the the number pads where costumers use their credit cards and when I went to the bathroom I found a worker also moping the floors. I felt really safe, even though I was wearing my mask and my gloves for more protection. In conclusion I was able to comfortably spend a few hours there and ended up buying most of my summer clothes that I needed. I also got 40 percent discount on all my purchases and left extremely happy and satisfied with the experience. I am glad that Macy's opened up for us shoppers because we love everything about it. read more

Bought a couch at Macy's, we tried to flag down an employee and he took this opportunity to angrily yell at us across several furniture sets about how he has 2 people waiting and 2 he needs to call....sir. This is poor customer service. I don't care who many people he has waiting, all he needed to do redirect us to another person. We were walking out and he ended up finding someone to assist which he should have done in the first place. I only gave 2 stars because the second person was helpful. The store was closing in about 7 mins and I finally found a dress that I'd like to try on. The sales associate was staring at me so I told her I'm going to hurry up and try this on because I love it. With a nasty attitude, she said "no, we're closing in one minute. It will be here tomorrow". Okkkkayy that was a $160 dress that I probably would have bought. Need friendlier SALESpeople. read more
