The customer service is poor and antiquated. I have now had three experiences in a row that don't match any positive customer service that is happening everywhere else. Macy's has not evolved with the times and I don't think this dusty, old department store will make it when there are stores like Nordstrom to compete with. I don't ask for much, but when I'm making an expensive purchase, I expect a sales associate to know more then what is written on the box (this is what she actually told me to read if I wanted more information.) Their return policy is out of date and impossible. I returned something new, in the box, within 30 days and with a receipt and still got a horrible hassle. What more do you want Macy's, my fingerprint? A manager was nowhere to be found and eventually one was called. They couldn't even bother to come to where I was, they just gave orders over the phone. I won't return. Ever. Other department stores are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Customer focus is important and Macy's practices are prehistoric. read more

Great experience shopping for work clothes. The clothes selection was very good, and vast. Roger checked me out and was very professional. In addition he gave me additional discounts to help me out. The Macy's shoe department is VERY understaffed. I was trying to buy some shoes and waited for 20 minutes before the poor gal could help me (along with at least 4 other people, at the same time.) None of the shoes I wanted were in stock (too bad for her, would have been a nice commission!), but I did end up ordering one pair, which arrive after about 2 weeks. I think they need to add staff and possibly more sizes and styles of shoes into their back room! Too many were sold out (these were current styles too - not on sale!) read more

Ended up coming here to purchase some running shoes but ended up leaving empty handed because the guy that was working the area didn't care that there were a couple of people waiting to try some shoes on. Just stood there with a blank look on his face and we ended up having to go up to him after waiting around for awhile. You know, the store is fine. I can always find what a I need because I already know what I want and where to find it. I have never had a mind blowing experience until today. I went in to pick up some lip gloss and maybe check out the new colorful mascaras from Benefit. I told the nice elderly woman behind the Lancome counter what I needed and as she searched, I quickly went to the next counter and looked for the plum colored mascara. The lady from the Chanel counter greeted me and asked me if I needed any assistance, to which I replied, "yes. I heard there was a plum colored mascara and I'd like to take a look at it." She walked away and I turned around to make sure the lady at Lancome could see me so I could pay for my lip gloss. When I turned around the lady from the Chanel counter rudely asked me, "do you want to look at this or not?" I was astounded by the bad attitude and the lack of patience from her. Next time I need cosmetics, I'll be going to Nordies where the service is always amazing and the people don't talk down to you for wanting to spend money. read more

When our baby was born we got a handful of giftcards, one of which happened to be a giftcard for Macy's. I was able to go this weekend to pick out some baby clothes, and my overall experience was a pleasant one. My friend and I had a little bit of trouble finding the baby section and ended up going up and down the escalators multiple times. We finally found it on the top floor past the lingerie section (originally we thought it would be nowhere near lingerie because they wouldn't want children to see it, but I guess it makes sense because lingerie can sometimes lead to babies, hahaha). They had a nice sized selection of baby clothes, not too small, but not so overwhelmingly big that I can't make up my mind. I also enjoyed the fact that their selection of baby girl clothes was comprised of a full spectrum of colors instead of just various shades of pink (don't get me wrong, pink is nice, but I got enough pink stuff at my baby shower to last FOREVER, lol). They had some pretty decent prices on their baby clothes, and the sales associate in that section was very polite! She noticed I was carrying my baby in a Moby wrap and offered to hold onto the clothes that I had picked out until I was done shopping so my arms could take a bit of a break. When I was ready to check out she was very polite, and she asked about signing up for a Macys card (which you can't really complain about, because it's part of her job), but she only aksed once and wasn't overly pushy about it when I refused. The only thing I didn't like is that there were no signs near the escalators saying what was on each level. Other than that, my experience was great and I was very pleased with the clothes I got for my baby :) read more

All I can do at this point is just laugh at the utter incompetence exhibited at this Macy's, where they clearly work for commission yet don't deserve a dime of it. I selected a couch in late August and the saleswoman suggested I come back at the weekend to take advantage of a special sale. When I returned on Saturday, she told me the sale wouldn't count because the price of the couch was already discounted. She then ran my card without informing me the couch was a "special order" and would take six weeks delivery. She then assured me this is a maximum and not typical--wrong! I JUST received the confirmation email today indicating the couch is ready for delivery. And when Macy's says "ready for delivery," what it really means is another two weeks because that was the next available date. They don't even provide the two hour delivery window until the day before delivery. To top it all off, I got home the day I purchased it and double-checked the purchase to see she ordered the wrong color. Had to call back, cancel the order, re-order, and have my card charged yet again. To prove it's THIS Macy's that is terrible, I have friends who ordered the exact same couch (configuration, color, etc.) at another Colorado location and they received it on the same day. It's not worth waiting this long for a piece of flippin' furniture. They are incompetent, unapologetic, and persistent only up until the point of purchase--then you won't hear from them again. read more

I've never been to this Macy's but.... we live in California and I went to 4 different Macy's to find this one jacket for our daughter for Christmas. We landed at a Macy's who gave us a list of stores that had our daughter's size in stock and the ones in our area couldn't find them so my husband started calling stores as far as NH to see if he could order on the phone and have it shipped to us. Not much interest from some of the stores but this AMAZING person in the children's department answered his call and today the jacket I've been searching high and low for over the past week, is on its' way because of ASHLEY in the children's department. I know it is only a jacket but our daughter is obsessed with gold and stars right now and she is going to LOVE her jacket. So... my 5 stars is not for the whole store but for ASHLEY specifically who gave us a Christmas miracle this year! THANK YOU!!! read more

Macduff . Went in to buy a watch. Stood at an empty counter for 15 minutes. Ask another clerk if anyone was wanting sell a watch. The response was " That's not my store. I was going to buy another pair of shoes but I asked them why it says waterproof but water still gets in-which is why my last shoes got ruined. Shiseido Counter at the Cherry Creek store is amazing!! I went to look at the make up and get more information about the line. Natalie was an amazing help! she spent almost 2 hours with me doing skincare treatments and showing me how to do my make up. I bought what I needed and will gradually replace my make up and skin care as I run out of what I have. I loved that she wasn't trying to pressure me into buying things I didn't needs. read more

Wow. I really don't get a lot of the bad reviews here. The selection is standard department store. The racks and dressing rooms can get untidy when it's busy. The clothing and jewelry departments are often understaffed, but that's corporate's fault, not the individual employees'. I don't really like it when the shoe department staff speak together in Russian in front of me, but staff throughout the store are generally courteous and helpful. Having worked retail, and as a customer with common sense, I do want to address some of the specific complaints below: If you make an exchange in a different city with a different tax rate, that different tax rate has to be charged. THAT IS THE LAW. The store pays that to THE GOVERNMENT. Again, it is the law. Not discretionary. If the tax rate is lower, you are refunded the difference. If the tax rate is higher, you pay the difference. Pretty simple. Any business will do the same. Don't blame Macy's. Sometimes stores run out of stock on items, even new items, especially when they've advertised as on sale, especially when they're advertised as broadly as Macy's does, and at the ridiculously low prices they sometimes have. It's not some big conspiracy, and it's not necessarily some huge fail on that business' part.. Enough people got there before you to buy up all of that item. Put on your big kid pants and get over it. And NOBODY does store to store transfers, even for exchanges, even in your naturally EXCEPTIONAL circumstances, any more. Businesses stopped doing those years ago. It is not cost effective, and there is too much opportunity for shrink (internal theft or loss). There are certain circumstances under which shipping should be waived (damage exchanges, or if you were told something would be held and it was never held for you, or was accidentally sold), but just because the store doesn't have an item or size that you want? No. Sorry. And waiting 4 whole minutes? My God, are you a world leader, and a heart surgeon to boot, who has to catch a plane to go back to your home country to do emergency surgery and then stop a civil war or something? No? Well, 4 minutes is not terrible. 10, yes. 4, no. If you want to get a good bit of your shopping out of the way in one place, want some everyday items in a good price range, and want grown-up associates who will give you the best, most professional service they can while being understaffed and overworked, this Macy's fits the bill. There is none of the horrible attitude you get at other stores in this mall (I'm looking at you, Neiman's), and the staff seem to take their job more seriously than in some of the smaller shops, where the employees tend to be younger. There is always some sale going, and if you don't have the coupon, just ask; they'll give you the discount anyway. If you have unreasonable expectations like those I addressed above, you will be unhappy with your shopping experience here, or anyplace else. read more

I do not like to shop, even for clothes. When I have to go shopping I am always happy with my experience at the Cherry Creek Macy"s. Selection is big, layout is easy, staff are always around and helpful. It is nice to have a salesperson help me decide or give suggestions. They know the inventory and how items fit. read more

I went in there last Saturday to get some new flats for work. After waiting forever for a salses person to look for my sizes, they did not have the size I needed in stock. So I went home an ordered them online (paying for shipping). The shoes were supposed to arrive today and when I checked the status of the order, it said they'd been returned to sender. I called customer support and was told they were returned to sender because the address was wrong (the address was definitely not wrong). I asked if they could have them attempt delivery again, but the person on the phone said it was too late, they'd already been sent back to the factory. My account will be credited 7-10 business days after they arrive at the factory. So like sometime in mid-November. WTF Macy's? The person on the phone offered no other solution, other than that I could drive to a store in a different county, buy the shoes, pay for them all over again, and wait for my account to be credited for the first pair I bought. What use is Macy's if they don't have what you need when you're shopping in store, but their online shopping is totally dysfunctional, so after waiting a week you're told just to go to a different store and buy the same item that you've already paid for again? This is why Zappo's is taking over. They offered no solutions. Better retailers would find a way to make it right, like rush shipping the item from another store. read more

Worst customer service ever. I made the mistake of trying to buy some children's earrings there because Nordstrom does not carry them. I picked some out under a sign that said "60% off". I tried to buy them but the register in fine jewelry wasn't working. I asked if I could purchase them at another register and I was told no and to come back in 5 minutes. I came back, the salesperson rings them up and says, "Sorry, they aren't 60% off today, does that change your mind?" I told her I did not want them. She told me to "come back in a week and they will be 60% off again." I leave, look online, and there they are, 60% off like advertised in the store. read more

Went to the Men's skin care counter and was interested in Lab series products that I have used for awhile now. The Men's counter staff at the Cherry Creek location wasn't particularly friendly and on top of the poor customer service they did not have tester products. I asked why there weren't testers for us to 'test' their products and was told I could return the product after I purchase it and was not happy with it. What they fail to realize is that a customer would have to drive back to their location to return the product, when in actuality, how difficult would it be to open an actual product and label it a 'tester.' On top of matters, she seemed as if I had bothered her asking if they had samples, which I had meant to ask as 'testers,' as if perturbed that I wanted a free bee of their $58 skin product. Shame on you Macy's. Your customer support line is also terrible and leads you nowhere. Fix it or I will cancel my Macy's charge account because lord knows your competitors like Nordstrom and Nieman Marcus probably can do better! read more
