There was a time when the name Macy's meant something. Maybe not super high end but a notch above average. Not this one. It's a run-of-the-mill department store and the staff are barely there putting in the hours to pick up their paycheck. The displays are just so-so. Nothing that makes me want to jump up and down and buy, buy, buy. I rarely come in here but I wanted to check out their summer weight comforter/quilts. Very limited choice. Some Martha Stewart crap she must have designed while she was in the Big House doin' time. Other than that, hardly anything. I guess if they have a great sale on something you really have to have this would be as good a place as any to shop. No great shakes, though. read more

This review is for the MAC counter inside the Macy's in Bowie town center. Can you believe the the girl who waited on me stole the new black eyebrow pencil ($16.00) that I purchased and replaced it with with an old used red pencil! Thank God I looked in my bag before I left the store. I went back to the counter and demanded a refund for everything I purchased ($50.53) after reporting her to the manager. If you go to the MAC counter at the Bowie town center check your bags before leaving the counter; they got a thief working there. read more

I just left this Macy's and will likely not be coming back. The store closed at 8pm. (Ridiculous). I got rung up a couple of minutes after that and tried to exit. The alarm went off--the associate didn't take off the alarm tags--easy mistake. When going back to the door where my car was parked after getting the sensor removed from my new pants, the door was now chained. An associate said someone was coming to let us out. We waited several minutes. Asked another associate if security was coming to let us out. They shouted to go to the other exit at the opposite end of the store. I'm asthmatic and was under the weather. I explained I wasn't feeling so well, and could they please open the door. I got a blank stare...no attempt to try to make this right. They might as well had shrugged their shoulders. I worked at Macy's years ago. The bar has dropped so low since that time...customer service is no longer the standard there, and I see why they are doing poorly and closing stores. Very disappointing. read more

C'mon, it isn't THAT bad I don't understand the low ratings for this Macys location. I give it 3.5 stars because it is kind of hard to get service here some times. One time my girlfriend and I went to the jewlery department here to see if they could repair a watch that I had bought her from another Macys. We were ignored and waited for about 15- 20 minutes and after complaining to the manager, the lady who had been ignoring us finally approached us, only to be told that the watches value was too high for them to fix (I don't get it either). However, the quality of the clothes and other apparrell that they sale is pretty much the same standard most Macys hold (or at least in the ones I've been to in the DC area). I usually shop here for clothes for the women in my family...never really have much of a hard time finding something nice for them. Its not a bad department store to shop in but their employees could provide better service now and then. read more

Uggghhh! Why do the fitting rooms smell like my kids potty. They always smell like somebody couldn't find the bathrooms so they chose to urinate in the fitting room. I have been in 3 different fitting rooms at this location an they always smell like a potty. It also doesn't help that some of the female employees have pissy personalities to match the fitting rooms. I get all my purchase and do to the men's department to cash out. The women who work in the INC section are just the worst. You ask a simple question and you get a attitude with a really short answer. I really wanted to love this location but the drive to Annapolis worth it. In Annapolis you get a clean store and great customer service! read more

I have compliment Gabby at the Mac Cosmetics counter. She helped my niece find the right make up for her wedding and today she assisted me she understands how to provide the right guidance and makeup for various age groups. I would recommend asking for her next time you visit. read more

we've shopped here twice either on a Sunday afternoon or new year's day so maybe our experience is different from what others say due to the time we're there. We encountered only friendly staff, although they were hard to find as it seems some of the customer service stands are not staffed all the time. We pretty much only buy on sale and with coupons so always manage to get clothes we like or just don't continue. The women's bathroom was pretty stinky for some strange reason. Under the ADA the spaces between clothing racks and shelves are supposed to wide enough for a wheelchair to get through but our wheelchair using family member always repeatedly gets tangled up in something so this place is going on my non-accessible list, until they clean up their act. read more

This is one of the worst locations ever. Do yourself a favor and go to annapolis store where managers are more helpful and willing to do something for you. I wanted to use macys in addition to coupons and it clearly says onlinethat you can.. However, after making me wait for over 45 minutes.. The two managers tell me that i cant. I live in the Bowie area and I love this Macy's. I frequent the Annapolis Mall since I work close by but the customer service and the store seem cluttered. I have brought furniture (living room and bedroom) and many clothes for my family. The only thing they could make better is the china. The selection over the year's has become very limited. If I'm shopping I will say, there is a person clothes by that will ask if I need anything. read more

Not unlike any other Macy's. It's much larger than what it appears to be from the outside. Lots of selection. However, as much product that was offered, I could not find anything that met my style or needs, as far as Men's clothes. The majority of the store was catered to women. Clothes, shoes, purses, perfume, etc. Glad to see a nice store in the Town Center, but never think about coming here, cause every time I do, I usually can't find anything I like. read more

Location and parking are excellent. I went looking for a specific section, and a saleswoman greeted me immediately with a smile and asked if I needed help finding anything. In Bowie Town Center chances are whatever you need can be found at Macy's. The staff was more helpful than I anticipated and really tried to be of assistance - more so than I have experienced at other big box locations. I'm not sure if it was a slow day, but the kind attitude was appreciated. read more

Not happy AT ALL with my experience. I purchased a pair of shoes at this Macy's 2 weeks ago that I wore 2 times, and only on carpet (for work). They were unbelievably uncomfortable and cause a blister on my toe. I came back to return them and was told they would not return them, exchange or issue a store credit because I wore them. (Literally for a total of 6 hours and on carpet). Even after showing the manager the blisters on my right foot, she still denied an exchange or store credit. I spent $80 on a pair of shoes that I can never wear again. I have been a loyal customer of Macy's forever. I returned clothing that didn't fit my daughter twice, but never made a return for myself in alllll these years. I will no longer shop with Macy's again. ESPECIALLY the one in Bowie. Associates are unhelpful, I called and asked if they had a particular pair of shoes in stock they said they had 3 pairs and when I arrived to purchase them they said they've never had any. The young man working in shoes said he didn't have them and never searched the computer. This place is awful, I won't be making any purchases from them. I went shopping late on a Friday night. The clothes at Macy's (like many department stores in my experience) are hit-or-miss. The prices are fair, especially if you shop clearance or sales...and they have plenty. The sales associates in the Shoes department and juniors section were all amazing. They helped me and were incredibly patient when I had to ask for a new size. I am not sure if I was just really lucky, but my shopping experience here was amazing. They do push the credit card pretty hard, but if you tell them "no, I don't want one." they back off pretty quickly. read more

This review is specifically for the MAC counter in this Macy's location. Almost all of the employees were just hanging out talking. No one greeted me. I had to interrupt their convo to get help. I went for Spiked eyebrow pencil and then remembered I needed concealer. I told her I needed spiked and concealer and then, without matching me, she blurted out "NC 50!". I said "Ummm, I'm NW 45". And she replied, "If that's what you want..." Really?! I ignored her rudeness and followed her to the desk. She only rang me up for the concealer and I reminded her that I needed Spiked. And, annoyed, she retorted "Anything else??" I took my bag and left. She seemed 100% uninterested in helping me. Then, just now, I look into my bag to discover she actually gave me the NC color concealer I told her I didn't want! It is way too light for my skin tone. And now they are closed and I will have to make a special trip in the morning. I dont know about the rest of the store, but I have never been to a MAC counter where the employees are that rude. If this is any indication of the rest of the store, I would go a few miles out of your way to any other location. It's a damn shame. read more

I was in Macys Men`s a few.weeks go looking for a tie, shirt and a hankerchief. I was in a rush and I saw Shalinda a young lady with a beautiful smile. Shalinda stopped what she was doing and stayed with me until I had everything that I needed. I was in the Men`s dept. a few.days ago and I saw Kierra and Krystal. The MAC counter is always busy. I've had some good experiences with the, and also bad ones. The bad have outweighed the good. Many of the employees always have attitudes and if you want to avoid being ignored, do not go when they are near closing. There have been several times that I've gone to this MAC counter and I've had to stand for about 20 minutes until someone finally acknowledged me. A lot of times they will have one or two people working at the counter and I understand that they are busy so they might have an attitude, but even still that is not acceptable. They should have more employees working at one time that way things will move a lot smoother. They are organized when it comes to their products. Everything is neatly set up and organized. In conclusion, if you're looking for a MAC counter with great customer service near Bowie, MD, I would recommend the Nordstroms MAC counter in Annapolis Mall. read more

This review is just for the MAC counter. I ATTEMPTED to go there recently to pick up a few lipsticks and a liner and I also wanted some consultation a good concealer and a brown girl friendly blush. Two of the associates were working on faces with one waiting in the wings. No big deal...however, coming from a customer focused job, it takes nothing to acknowledge someone and say we'll be right with you. That never happened. In fact, 2 more people came over and were fiddling with the phone at the cashier's desk. I'm guessing their phone was getting no dial tone, but seriously you can look up and see people coming over but not say anything. I actually saw someone look right at me and walked away from the counter. It was another lady there as I walked up going back and forth and eventually she left. I waited a good 10 minutes. Really??! I visit this location in Bowie on 2/8/2012 and it was awful. They do not have good customer service. The manager named Castra Echols is rude and so is her staff. I called to ask her to handle an issue and she had zero customer service. I see why the store was empty and had very few customers in it. She need to be fired. The clothes there are awful there was not sales associate in each department, and to top it off sales associates where trying on clothes for themselves and making purchases on the clock. No one in the shoe department looked like they wanted to help you and did not have good energy. I mad a mistake coming to this one and ugh! will never do it again. Hello, I am in Columbus, Ohio and I called the Bowie Towne, MD Macy's store several times in the past looking for items (sold out online) only this store had, but always got someone rude or just not willing to help me out. I called one day and spoke with an associate found the item I was looking for that others had told me was not there. Although she had an annoyed attitude with me, she helped me anyway. I called back several times within 24 hrs to be told the item could not be found. I waited a couple days to callback to be told the item could not be found until I got to another rude old lady one evening. She initially told me she found the item but that I needed to callback in an hour because a manager needed to get the pricing as she was not able to locate it. Although the person who originally placed it on hold a few days earlier told me the price with no problem. I called back about 3 hours later for the same old lady and she acted as if she didn't remember me at first. I had to tell her several times who I was and what I was calling for and then she nonchalantly told me the item was not for sale because it was from the stockroom and those items are not for sale. This is completely a lie as Macy's always does this. I told her I doubted she spoke with a manager because the price was already on there and she weirdly acted as if she couldn't find the item, saying she had only remembered it from the return rack and wanted to know how it got out of the stockroom. She said again those items are not for sale and had no care whatsoever in telling me she was not selling it to me even if she had found it. I decided not to argue with her and to keep calling until I found someone helpful. I called the next day and got the lady who had placed the item on hold before, who again was annoyed with me but still helped me looking for the item. She wasn't able to find it in the 20 minutes I was on hold and finally took my information down as she said she would continue to look for the bedding scarf and call me back if she found it. A few hours later she had found it, but said "there is one catch, in order to purchase the item they said I could only ship this to you if you paid for the shipping." I then told her that is not right as all stores I have talked to will not charge shipping for any item over $99. She said again they would only send the item to me if I paid shipping which I knew this was some sort of retaliation. These people knew I wanted this badly and used that to their advantage since it was birthday gift for my mother. I have never been so insulted in my life and I want the shipping credited back to me of $21.95. I have spoken with other stores and they confirmed that shipping is only charged when the item is below $99. I have paid $265 for this item BEFORE shipping and taxes. I was not even allowed to use a coupon. I am FURIOUS. This is the worse store ever and the experience made me to NEVER want to shop at a Macy's again. read more
