One of the best BBQ places I've been to happens to be in the middle of Massachusetts. I know, it's…read morecrazy, but hear me out. I've been all over the country looking for great BBQ. I've made a point to get to Franklin BBQ, Lewis BBQ in Charleston, South Carolina, Horn BBQ IN Oakland, CA, or even Matt's BBQ in Portland, OR. I feel like I can actually tell people something about good BBQ, and why it's worth visiting a place over others. The Purple Pig is run by a guy who grew up in Texas and obviously trained under some great pit masters. The place itself is really not much. There are two tables and a little bar to sit at. They have no restroom, which was pretty disappointing. Thankfully, the dispensary next door was very nice to let us use theirs. Anyway, my uncle and my nephew were with me and we were hungry, so we ordered their family dinner for $95. It had a full rack of ribs, a pound of brisket, two huge sausages, three sides and lots of cornbread. I think this is a great deal for the amount of food you get. After ordering the food came out very quickly. The beef brisket was really amazing. The cut he gave us was a perfect mix of fat and meat. The rub he makes is savory a good blend of salt, pepper and onion. It was really tender meat but also still had firmness as well. The pork ribs were perfectly cooked and fell off the bone nicely. I love the rub he makes for the ribs as well. It is both sweet and savory. The sausages were smoky and peppery. There were two sauces and both were Texan style with a tangy tomato base, but one was spicy and the other not. Both excellent! For the sides, the Cowboy Beans were a standout: these were some of the best beans I've had at a BBQ joint. The cornbread was also really good and the Mac and cheese was solid. The coleslaw was the only side that I thought was just pretty average. I hope that was a helpful review of things. They have so many other things to try on their menu, but sadly I won't be back in this area anytime soon. I hope others will venture out and find this place.

Great food and flavor. Try the smoked ox tail and the macaroni and cheese. I was very impressed…read morewith the quality service.

Giving this place five stars cause it's a community staple…read more That being said, recent experience very disappointing.. St. Louis ribs were void of meat, baby backs are now off the menu, margarita was all OJ and the sound was ear drum rupturingly loud at $20/ticket. **** instead of asking an unhappy customer to call your ops manager, have your ops manager power up the internet and use it to do better.

Fried chicken batter not the same I had before .. no southern seasonings now? Dry? A lame small breast, a drumstick dry, cold . Ribs not looking as St. Louis beefy ones I had before. These dry , cold like chicken . Brisket was dry overcooked cold with one piece moist and decent . Mac and cheese was much better in past with stronger cheese flavors. The beans not much flavors, cold . Corn bread ok , but I thought corn bread had sweeter taste last visits. A whipped butter for corn bread would be nice offering I wasn't impressed and likely to be hesitant to return . The food looked, tasted like cooked hours before, and reheated? Chef and kitchen needs to get back to how food was expected by the founder before the founder of restaurant passed away . Nothing worse than cold brisket drying sitting for hours vs coming off the smoker hot like other bbq spots I visit. BT's bbq keep their brisket in hot storage smoker til kitchen slices for plates. The Staff asked three times how all was so they are attentive, but then , so attentiveness is not there is in the kitchen area. Who is watching plates coming out of kitchen for quality control ? Beer selection was decent.

Hense why the first thing on the BBQ Menu is "Cowboy Pizza". When I first discovered them I was pretty sure the descriptions got lost in translation of what kind of business they ran. But then I actually looked up their website and saw that the menu had pulled pork sliders, beans, mac and cheese, corn bread, all these typical BBQ items. So I figured what the heck and I gave them a shot. Not sure what the story is here of why its a whole separate endeavor but whatever. Don't look for anything called Uncle Joe's. I was actually a little surprised to see that they sticker label every bag of stuff. Very efficient. Had to give the Pizza a try, felt improper to not get pizza. A BBQ themed pizza at that. Cowboy pizza came with onion rings, grilled chicken, bacon, and honey BBQ sauce. Sounds amazing. Looked great. Tasted pretty good. Super soft dough, could taste all the ingredients, heavy pizza cause of the toppings but I think it's a heavier pizza in general cause I think the cheese is a bit thick. But actually really good. Pulled Pork slider had great bulky roll bread. Pork was super shredded and loaded with sauce to the point it was pretty much a patty. Cabbage Slaw came on the side to add if you want, which I appreciate. But the Slaw is very pickled and kind of smelled like it was going bad. I know that it wasn't going bad because it's just a style of slaw, but you know what I mean? like the cabbage is almost a little translucent, and the vinegar taste kinda makes you think the pickling has gone sour for some reason. I mean I eat it all the time but I really like a fresh crunch slaw on my pulled pork sandwich. The Mac and Cheese was the most disappointing part of the whole meal. Simple and cheap pasta that just absorbed all the cheese sauce and left all the flavor somewhere else. Beans were traditional. Just navy beans and onions and maybe a sliver of pulled pork pieces. Sitting in a soupy broth of maple and brown sugar gravy. Gravy didn't really stick to the beans that well. Onions could have cooked for a bit longer but still a good taste. I was intrigued by their selection of Wings and sauces so I had to try the Spicy Peanut Butter and Honey sauce on a few wings, also their Jerk sauce. So all of their wings are just deep fried and mixed with a sauce just like any wing place. This peanut butter sauce I swear to god I would think it's just a regular BBQ sauce. Tasted notes of all that other stuff but still would just say BBQ sauce. Jerk Sauce is AMAZING! That is pretty damn close to the real Jerk Seasoning sauce. Spicy Tropical, so good. Corn Fritters .... they are scallion pancakes made with corn meal. The Key Lime pie was nice. Stuff kinda stuck to the roof of the mouth a bit but it was still good. Banana Pudding looked pretty cute with it's mini wafers. This stuff is straight up Jell-O pudding but its just so god damn good. I like that they are trying new things. I think they'll get a following soon.

You walk in and are greeted with only a table number and a point into the other room. Which is fine except once you get there you have no idea what to do next. The plates are around a corner along with the silverware and napkins. So you have to first find them. After that you go get the buffet food and then find the place with the meat. Finally when you stand there looking like you are lost with a plate of food they will call you to a register to pay $12.99 a lb or all you can eat for $26.99. We chose all you can eat because we love Brazilian and knew we would be back for some more of that delicious meat. It was ok at best. The bacon chicken and garlic steak were the standouts. Everything else was under seasoned or very dry. My husband kept saying how little effort they put in to everything. No salt and pepper on tables. No napkins nearby. No one comes and takes plates or checks on you. You are just left to figure it out yourself. There are plenty of better places that I would choose over this one.

The corn tortillas are soft and rich, the most reminiscent version I've found in Massachusetts so far of the flavors I remember back home. Also, the char of the asada paired with the tenderness of the chicken was addicting! Overall a really great, authentic Mexican restaurant option that brings some of the upscale Marlborough vibes to the table! Additionally, the service was super quick (perhaps a little frantic) and incredibly accommodating despite being seemingly short-staffed. Their whole operation felt like it ran with love and appreciation for the customers and the dishes they were serving up. Not to mention, they have TONS of traditional Mexican dish options ranging from simple tacos to molcajete!! So far, this has been some of my favorite Mexican food in the area, not only for the great flavors, but for the kind service and the lovely vibes. I can't wait to come back and try some of their other dinner options!! Their menu is extensive with large portions too, and there's sure to be something for any craving you have!
