Never again. Mac's used to be a great place to buy a car battery. However 2-3 years ago the business changed ownership and they moved locations. Long story short, I purchased a car battery and it failed while under warranty. My car had not been started for over a week. I jump started it and then took it to my mechanic that I have used for years. He did 2 different tests, and told me both tests showed the battery was weak and I would need a replacement. Note...my mechanic doesn't sell batteries. He gave me 2 computer read-outs that showed the battery was weak. I took my car back to Macs and told them what had happened and also told him that my mechanic had said the under-warranty battery was weak. This battery had been purchased from Macs less than a year, so it was under full replacement. First the guy at Macs suggested there must be some type of "draw" on the battery. I told him my prior Battery from Interstate lasted around 4 years so if there was a "draw" it just started to "draw" with the new battery. Then the Mac's guy did some testing and said the battery was still good and not weak. Then I showed him the mechanics report that showed 2 different methods of testing, both showing a weak battery. That's when the story changed and Mac's grudgingly replaced my battery. Then, 1.5 years later with the Mac's replacement battery, and not starting the car for a bit, the same thing happened again. Again, I took the battery to my mechanic and again, he ran 2 separate tests. This time he said the results of one showed it was "average" but the other test said he said showed low. No I'm not going back to Mac's for a replacement. Mac's has lost my business. Bottom line, based on them suggesting there was nothing wrong and me showing 2 reports saying they are low, I don't trust them. I went to a store and bought an AC Delco that has a 4-year total replacement warranty. It costs more than Mac's, but I expect it to last 4 years...even when I haven't started my car for a week. read more

I stopped here today after my car's battery died yesterday. They were recommended to me by a friend. I drive a 2019 Subaru Outback and it had the original battery so it was long overdue for a replacement. I called ahead of time to make sure they had one in stock and they did, so I stopped by a couple hours later. I was immediately greeted by a very friendly gentleman who showed me where to park. He had me pop the hood and checked my alternator, then went to get a new battery. He went to work on replacing it after checking the settings in my car. Once he was done he cleaned up the battery acid from my old battery corroding and I was good to go. It came out to a total of $180, $170 for the battery and $10 for install. The man who helped me was very friendly and knowledgeable. He told me what he was doing before he did it so I knew what was going on. He didn't talk down to me because I'm not a man a which was a welcome relief. Note that they won't work on Subarus if they were made in 2020 or later due to how Subaru batteries work now. I didn't catch the whole explanation but it was good to know. The place itself is small and easy to miss but they have everything you would need battery-wise. They do installs for you and make sure it's all working, all for a very good price. I will definitely be back! read more

I found Macs Batteries almost by accident as they are across the street from Home Depot. Am I glad I did! I had a serious battery problem with 4 SOK batteries that would not take any charge at all. They checked the batteries and were able to restore them to functioning. They kindly explained how the BMS works and a need for a balancer. Rather than just sell me one, they referred me to Amazon because it was cheaper. Service was excellent but more important to me was they have integrity, trying to do things right. The new owner is very arrogant and talks a mile a minute. I was in there waiting to be helped and he was talking on and on about freeze drying food with two customers ( an older couple), who couldnt even get a word in edgewise. This went on for over fifteen minutes. When they both left, i overheard the older woman say to her husband, 'did you understand any of that?, he was a chatterbox that wouldnt stop', he said, 'no, i didnt'. They left empty handed. I also didnt appreciate how the owner was speaking to the person working for him as he passed by, just sarcastic and belittling. Short young guy long dark hair. When he finally finished doing all the talking and those people left, he finally got to me. I asked a simple straight forward question and he proceeded to give me all these answers to questions i didnt ask. All i asked was how big of a powerbank i would need for just four solar panels powering lights in my back yard. I had a budget to work with, but he seemed more intent on me spending more money than i had. I finally went to Grape Solar who set me up beautifully. ....this guy needs to brush up on his communication skills if he wants to bring customers in. I wont be going back. read more

Solid, local business in Eugene that has been doing it right for years now. My dad uses a battery they make(!?) custom here for our John Deere tractor out on the farm and they stand by their product 100%. The grandkids, on more than one occasion, left the lights on grampas tractor and killed the battery. We took it back here dropped it off, picked up the next day and they charged it back up without charging us anything, very nice. read more

Dan was amazing so nice from the beginning. I didn't know if my battery in my car was completely dead or just needed to recharge. Dan showed me as he hooked it up to test if the battery was dead, he actually showed me my battery was completely dead. He replaced it with a brand new one in under 10mins the cost was so inexpensive compared to everyone else who was charging me an arm and a leg. He did everything including install for $126.99 I'm so impressed and happy we went to Mac's. Will never go anywhere else. Don't usually write reviews, but this is warranted since they did a good job. Had an old battery die on me and didn't have a ride so I needed someone to come to me and install it. Person on the phone and the man who came to install it were both very friendly and straight to the point, no giving you the run around here. Price was not the very cheapest (not that that's what you would want for a car battery), but was fair. Showed up when they said they would and only took a few minutes to install, again no fluff here. The reason for the 5 star is that it is difficult to find any business that cuts the crap and just does their job well.
