I came in here yesterday thinking I needed a new battery for the key fob to a friend's truck I'm currently driving. It started acting up the day before, and I couldn't unlock it. The story of locking myself out of his truck with the keys in my hand makes for a great phone call. I walked in and was immediately greeted by an employee, who was very kind and helpful. I explained what had happened. He took it all apart and asked me questions. Given it isn't my own truck and key fob, I didn't have the best answers. The nicest thing was the employee asked me if I knew about the hidden key inside the fob. Which I didn't until I called my friend when the fob stopped working. I really appreciate when someone wants to teach me something new, and was kind about it. The employee had everything fixed and put back together in less than ten minutes. I asked if we could go outside and test it. We walked out and each pushed the lock and unlock buttons, so it was clear everything was working perfectly. I noticed two other employees who asked if I was being helped and then moved on to the next customer to help them. They all appeared to be as kind and welcoming as the one helping me. The whole thing cost me like $25. It wasn't expensive, in my opinion. He stapled the receipt to a flyer that I left in the truck for warranty purposes. He was happy to put the warranty stuff in my friend's name and phone number. When cashing me out, he asked if I needed anything else. I said, I've never been here. Find me something I can't live without. He told me about a couple specials, although nothing I needed at that moment. But he still tried, and I was happy to hear about all of it. Would I return? Absolutely! The customer service here was amazing. Most of the time when I'm talking about anything car related, I'm met with someone who is condescending because I'm female. It's happened a million times before. But it didn't here, and I'm definitely impressed. It took ten minutes and $25 for the problem to be fixed, with no effort on my part. It was all done for me. Downgrading my prior review from 2 to 1 stars. 3 encounters with Batteries Plus is 3 times too many. 1. I called for a price for a rechargeable battery for some solar lights. I gave them the specifics about the battery and they guy told me he would have to see the battery. Anyone can google the specific battery by just typing in the specifics. Theres really no reason to "see it" other than to lure a customer through the door hoping they pay full retail instead of buying on line for substantially less cost. By the way, I didn't have to buy on line. I was able to replace the battery at of all places... Home Depot! No it's not a very unique battery, just one that Batteries Plus didn't want to look up a price for. 2. A CR 2032 battery except this had an extra 2 letters to designate a more specific purpose. I called Batteries Plus to see if they had this in stock emphasizing the extra 2-diget letters. They said they had it in stock. I drove to Batteries Plus, asked for the battery, and the guy double checked and told me they would have to order that specific battery because they don't carry it. Why did the guy on the phone say they had it in stock and even gave me a price? I bought it on line for more than half off what I was quoted. 3. Batteries Plus can duplicate key fobs! Once again, calling on the phone I gave my car make and model to get a price for a programmable key or pay a bit more and get the key fob. Naturally, the key fob is going to be more expensive. Batteries Plus gave me both prices. I drove to Batteries Plus, and again gave the guy my car make and model. Looking it up, he verified the price of both options. I gave him my key fob for him to make a 2nd back-up programmable key. He told me it would be about 20 minutes. I had lunch, returned in an hour, and the guy told me they don't have the size of my key to program a duplicate. Hello? Maybe this is something they should have told me before I gave them my key? At Batteries Plus, you are paying a heavy price not only for convenience, but in my case at least, incompetent employees who seem to be clueless...at least over the phone....not to mention the one who told me to come back in 20 minutes to pick up my duplicate key which they can't duplicate. Also, I found a locksmith in Eugene who could duplicate my key for $30 less than my $105 quoted price at Batteries Plus. Shop around! read more

Friendly folks and a helpful store that does more than you think they would: all kinds of batteries, from the basic AAAs to car and boat batteries, and watch and auto key fob batteries and other specialty batteries. They had a tiny battery for my ceiling fan remote that no place else in town carries, and I just had my auto key fob battery replaced for $22 with a lifetime guarantee at any of their locations nationwide. ($16 otherwise) They also have an array of specialty light bulbs for all sorts of applications, and cell phone cases, plus some fun knick knacks that will likely tempt you. They have periodic sales and specials, and the one drag is that the sales people do try to upsell you at check out. You can just say no thanks if you aren't interested. I've dropped off some specialty batteries for recycling here a couple times and they are always willing to take them no questions asked. The guy we worked with today was very nice and told us about the current sales and gave us a coupon for 10% off our next purchase, which stacks with other in-store promotions that aren't already big. In the past 4 months, I have gotten locked out of my car twice and it was Batteries Plus that saved the day in both instances. The first was when the battery of my car fob died while I was shopping at Trader Joes. Luckily I was close enough to walk over. So I hauled my two bags of groceries over and they replaced the battery for me, no problem. You would think that would be enough of a lesson for me to take action in getting better physical key copies for my car doors. NOPE! Just a few months later, I am, again, getting groceries, and the ENTIRE fob dies this time. After hours in the parking lot waiting for the locksmith to break into my car, I immediately drove over to Batteries and got a replacement Fob. It took them no time at all. I admit to being too gullible but now I read that I'm screwed if it doesn't work right because they only replace with unbranded batteries which may not work right. It's really simple, if a client calls a business to ask about recycling batteries, then the first thing to mention is that there is a processing fee for recycling ($1.50 per pound). Being on the phone for longer than 10 minutes should have established this major piece of information, rather than blaming the consumer for not knowing there would be a fee. They stopped me at the door folks. This is pretty simple, I came to recycle my batteries! When my husband and I called later to try to establish some form of logic for not telling us via phone when we called; "uh I don't know who was working or why they failed to tell you. and that While at times they MAY reimburse consumers upset like us." Yet they didn't not offer that policy to us. You paid, too bad. We will be calling their corporate office. You can't bill people for services that are not posted or generally advertised it could be considered a Fraud charge. read more

Do not let this place convince you to change your iPhone battery!!! I came in for a screen replacement. While handing over my phone, they told me my battery was getting bad. Although I have never had an issue with my battery from my nearly brand new iPhone, they convinced me it was cheaper for me to fix it while open already.I ended up paying for them to replace my battery, screen and putting on a screen protector. I had to pull off the screen protector because my buttons didn't work. My screen shattered shortly after with hardly any impact of the fall, the battery goes from full to dead at any moment. I NEVER had an issue with my phone until taking it here to get a new screen. I paid nearly $200 and now need a new phone because they replaced my Apple battery with a faulty battery. I took it right back and they couldn't put my old battery back in and my phone. Never needed this battery change and now I need a new phone! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! read more

I went to this store for a battery for my land line telephone. I was sold a used battery that they charged three times over the same battery that is listed on amazon for $7.85. I was charged a whooping $27.95 for a used battery that was worthless because it was a used and had probably been placed back into their stock. This store is a rip off, and I definitely would never purchase anything from this so called business. So if you don't mind a total scam and rip off this is your store. From reviewing other's comments and reviews I expect this so call store will be "closed" very soon. You just can't stay in business when you operate and treat your customers like they do. We were really disappointed with the service here. None of the employees seemed particularly happy to be helping people. I even overheard one sounding blatantly rude to another customer. They may have a wide array of batteries that you might not find elsewhere, but customer service is a big deal. Plus, once we told them the make/year of the vehicle we needed a new battery for, the employee said there were two options after looking it up and showed us one and then couldn't find the other one. That's not encouraging. Also, it seems the longest warranty associated with them was 3 years. Les Schwabs offers 6-7 year warranties. He asked if we wanted to install or have them, which they don't charge for but they do take off $15 if you install it yourself. Therefore, cost of battery includes cost of install. We had them install because the vehicle wouldn't start without a jump at this point. He connected what was called a "memory saver" to the vehicle, supposedly to save your data (time, date, mileage, etc). He couldn't really get it connected, my husband had to help. When he was happy that it was connected and my husband asked if it was on, the employee said yes but my husband could see that the switch wasn't on. But operating under the assumption that the employee knew what he was doing, he didn't question it again. After he finally got it installed, which took perhaps 5 minutes, and we drove away, all of our settings were reset, including our oil mileage (only the main lifetime mileage was still correct). So clearly the employee was wrong when he said the memory saver was on. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to Batteries Plus. read more

I was out of town and my wife went to Batteries Plus to get the battery replaced in the key fob of our car. The screw was stripped but the guy who helped her somehow managed to replace the battery anyway! She then mentioned that the headlight was out and asked if they carried replacement bulbs. Not only did they carry the bulb, they helped installing (after reading the owner's manual to figure out how)! All I know is I got back into town, the key fob works, and the headlight works, too. And, my wife is raving about how "above and beyond" the guys there went. I've always had great service with watch batteries and getting rechargeable batteries there. I went to our local Batteries Plus for a glass screen protector. Got a shred in it. I noticed the had good wiper blades. I asked how much, and was thrilled with $16 wipers. Less for rear wiper. He then told me he was getting in a big shipment coming soon. I finished and left. Two Weeks went by and I remembered wipers. Pulled in and as I walked in someone, and politely asked what I needed. I told him I needed a full set of his wipers. I had a couple spots of sap on window. He cleaned the whole outside of my front window and put on Correct size. That's a mystery to some wiper sellers. Sorry but I do not think they seem friendly at all here. I went here one night needing a bulb for our truck showed the guy a picture on my phone of the package that I needed, and he barely glances at it and runs to the wall. My guy already told my the bulb was going to cost around $30-40. We get the brighter bulbs. I don't think he paid attention to the detail of the package I showed him..: he grabs one says they are out of two, but have a single. I make the purchase which was cheap. The whole while being in there I was not greeted with a friendly smile, the customer service just felt dry! When I got home and found out it was the wrong bulb, which my guy told me in the first place because of his rushing glance I was pretty mad! My guy said he would go back and get the right one so I would not have to deal with this! Well fast forward...he took the bulb back! Low and behold they gave him the wrong bulbs!!! Not sure how this happens two times in a row, or if he dealt with the same I don't want to name call on here person, but you get the point! After all of this I don't see how they have such great reviews!! It seems like they don't have a clue!! The customer service is even terrible besides giving you the wrong parts!! Who knows maybe it's a new guy they have hired!!?? Because I can't be the only one on here to have such a crappy experience with these people besides my guy!!! Went to buy a simple battery for my car and they sold me the wrong voltage after I explained my type of vehicle. The battery sold to me would not work for my car and when I went to return it for a correct one they would not give me a refund! Needed a car battery and terminals (connections) for my jeep. I called and asked if they can put the terminals on when they install the battery. Was told maybe depends on who i get. For real? at those prices. I went to Walmart instead got a comparable battery for 40% the price this place charges AND there was no issue with the terminal installation. Great place for batteries and light bulbs. The first time my husband asked me to go in here with him to look for a battery for a gadget, I assumed it was a long shot, but soon enough I discovered that they seem to carry batteries for pretty much everything. It's amazing. This place has the best LED light bulbs we've ever bought too. They're a little more expensive than at Home Depot, but we found that they distribute the light much better, which is a big issue with LED bulbs. They also have a warranty and will let you return/exchange the bulbs if you don't like them! Before you order online and wait several days for things like replacement cell phone batteries, check Batteries Plus first! read more

I have updated my review to 2 stars, but that is only based on the actions of the area manager. He reached out to me after reading the review and was very polite and generous and offered to have the remaining work done for no charge. He also told me that he would make sure they apologized profusely, as he was as disappointed in their lack of Customer Service skills as I was. So I got the phone back today, and the battery was still at 42% (at 11am). Either they did not bother to charge it, or they didn't even change it in the first place. I won't know for another day or so, but not one apology and I have a complete lack of confidence in the work done. I will not use them again. read more

This place is pretty cool! I am taking a star way from what should be a 5 star review, because the wait time was really long. The two guys working were crazy busy and you could tell it was getting to them; were very friendly to the customers but they were snippy with each other. I bought my car battery from them about 18months ago. So when my battery went died, I took my car in Batteries Plus to have it checked. Apparently, my battery was still under their 24month warranty, so I got a new one for FREE! They even installed the battery in my car (which is a difficult task for VW bugs)! They do much more than car batteries there too! If you need a battery, they have it! Plus they also carry cool little flashlights and other "add ons". They have my business. read more

Very disappointed. They broke a screw on my phone and acted like it wasn't a big deal. I have an iPhone XS, so it's not cheap. The first screen they installed on my phone didn't work. I had to come back 2 times for them to fix it. And the screen protector on my phone broke within 24 hours and I didn't even drop it. Poor quality. Would not recommend this business to anyone. I went to this place right before they closed in desperation to see if they could fix my cellphone. The tip of the charger broke off and lodged in the port. I wan't hopeful that they could fix it or if they could, I assumed it would be really costly. Not only was the guy able to extract the tiny piece, he replaced the screen that cracked while he was attempting to fix it. He apologized profusely then charged me $5 for the whole thing. I quickly found on-line that there are hundreds, but the one I need was cheap, under $10 with free shipping. Catch was, payment was accepted only thru PayPal, and I didn't have an account. Called two local battery specialists listed in the Eugene DEX. Batteries Plus said they could order one, cost $39.95. The other place said 3-4 week delivery time, so I didn't even ask the cost. Got a (surprisingly easy) PayPal account, ordered on-line, and had a new battery delivered from California within 5 days (including a weekend). read more

This place is absolutely horrible and I will never shop here again. I was looking for a new battery for my diesel truck. I looked around on price a lot and it looking like on their website the had a good price on a battery that was 1000 cca. I really needed 1075 cca according to my owners manual but I was having a hard time finding such a big battery. I called them up to see if they had any thing bigger and before knowing anything about my vehicle the guy on the phone arrogantly told me, "Your car doesn't need that many cranking amps." I was a little annoyed and immediately realized I couldn't trust their technical knowledge but they still seemed like they had a good price so I politely inquired about what batteries they had. They had one that was 1100 cca but it was $400 dollars. I asked if they had a battery at 1000 cca and how much it would cost because I had seen one on the website. I was quoted $120. That weekend I went in with my old battery to buy a new battery. Turns out they didn't have the battery I wanted in stock and it was going to cost more. They quoted me $120 on the phone but they battery was $150 and would have to be special ordered. I asked them to order the battery and turned in my old battery for the core charge and paid. I asked how long it would take to get the battery in and the guy told me it would be a week to 10 days. I call 10 days latter because I haven't heard anything, wait on hold for 10 minutes and then they tell me they can't get the battery I ordered. I was so annoyed. Why didn't they let me know this the day after I ordered it? It was pretty clear no one had done anything. Meanwhile I couldn't make any progress on my truck. They then told me I had to come into the store to get my refund. I pressed them on this and they figured out how to take care of it but then wouldn't refund me anything for my battery core so I had to drive back across town to pick up someone else's dirty old battery so I would not get charged a core deposit when I bought a battery for my truck else where. Worse still they wouldn't even give me a receipt for my refund. The people who work here have a social skills of Shelton on The Big Bang Theory but they're also lazy, idiots. Do yourself a favor, and don't shop here. The day Batteries Plus goes out of business the world will be a better place. read more
