I have a beloved 2009 Mac Pro that for the first time it its lifetime had a problem. As it happens, the Apple Store in Annapolis said that they couldn't do anything for me, but recommended Mac Medics in Severna Park. I am so glad that they did! First of all, Dana at MacMedics provided me the absolutely best service when I was trying to find a refurbished laptop for my daughter. He's got a variety of laptops -- all in great condition -- and gave me excellent advice when choosing the best computer. The most amazing discovery, my daughter's laptop was stolen from her car and Dana had a sticker on the computer that my daughter had not taken off. I have done many repairs of everything in the Apple product line here in the past several years - iPhone batteries and screens, Apple Watch screen, bulged/distended MacBook case from a failed battery, iPad battery failing, probably others I've forgotten. After the service I received at the Lanham office, I thought it would be the same level of care and superior customer support but I was wrong. I called to see when I would be able to drop my computer off to be fixed and was placed on hold, as I am holding I am trying to wait around the area in case I can drop my computer off this same day. I was on hold for 30 MINUTES and then the phone hung up. I called back to the owner answering in an unapologetic way and he proceeds to say "mistakes happen, I must have forgotten you were on the phone." No concern for my time or the fact that I waited on hold for 30 minutes with no help at all. The Lanham office has never treated me in this manner. I hope they open back up otherwise I will continue to take my business elsewhere, which sucks because the Lanham office is pretty quick and can turn your device repair around a lot faster than Apple does. The lack of concern for my time as a customer was appalling. I'd rather wait and get great customer care than be met with owners of facilities that could care less about their clients who keep them in business. read more

So all I can say is that I really dorked up my iMac. Mr. Klein and the MacMedics team went above and beyond to fix my machine. They are by far the best Apple service center I have had the pleasure to work with. They don't try to talk you into getting a new machine, they just want to make sure the one you have works the way it is supposed to with the most current and up-to-date software. My computer hard drive was failing, so they did a replacement and restored my system to the new OS from a faulty Time Capsule backup. The hard disk on my 2014 MacMini failed. I brought it to Mac Medics in Severna Park in the afternoon and learned they could put in an SSD for me if I provided it. I ordered one they recommended from Amazon, which was delivered to them at 5:49 the next morning. At 8:26 that morning Mac Medics called to let me know the computer was ready with a copy of Monterey installed. Fabulous service at a very good price! Amazing place! I had an external hard drive full of important work files that suddenly stopped working- whenever I'd plug it into my computer, an error message would pop up and the HD itself would make a terrible sound and (!!) BURNING SMELL. I thought all was lost, but my husband had brought his MacBook here a few months earlier and suggested we bring my HD in to see if there was anything they could do. They took a look at the drive for no charge, and told me they'd need to crack it open to determine whether the data could be saved by replacing the case. I figured "might as well" and left the HD at the store. Within 15 minutes, the lovely people here had replaced my hard drive's case and all my data was perfectly fine! They're friendly, quick, knowledgeable and best of all, it all cost less than $40. This is the second time they've saved us from losing tons of important stuff- can't recommend them enough. read more

Gave them my laptop to repair the keyboard under a manufacturer recall. They refused to make the repair because I replaced the screen, and in doing so replaced some of the ridiculous proprietary pentalobe screws with Phillips screws. Then, when I arrived to retrieve my laptop, they had the audacity to try to charge me $35. The people I dealt with, especially Breana Beers, were some of the most passive-aggressive I have ever seen in a mom & pop shop. I was warned about this place before I went, but I didn't listen. I am an "Apple person." We have a MacBook Air, an IPhone 110 X, and a new iPad Air. Last week, my old IPad was definitely having battery problems, and I'd been having issues with the other 2 devices as well. I did what most people do in that case - made an appointment and visited the Apple store - Bam - solution - need to buy a new iPad, which I did - BUT, then the rep looked at the other 2 devices, and deemed that, like that old iPad, these other devices were vintage, and they couldn't fix them. He urged me to look at new devices, but then I remembered MacMedics, which my son and husband had very successfully used for their "even-more vintage than my devices." Visited MacMedics!!!! In 1 day, everything is perfect - I walked in - no appointment needed - new battery in laptop (overnight), new battery in iPhone (took 1 hour!) , excellent friendly expert service - EVERYTHING GOOD AS NEW - and I am a happy forever MacMedics customer! read more

My five-year-old, well-out-of-warranty (but dearly loved) 17" MacBook Pro committed suicide last Thursday evening. It had been behaving perfectly 99.9% of the five years I've owned it, then it went glitchy with video and virtually flamed out. It was HOT. Alton Brown could have used it as a heat source for a punishment on "Cutthroat Kitchen" ("One chef will have to use this malfunctioning laptop as their ONLY HEAT SOURCE..."). There was a sizzling-snap noise and it was dead. I have a lot of IT experience and have built and rebuilt countless Windows PCs and laptops. While I suspected the logic board (what everyone else calls a system board or motherboard), I wasn't sure. I don't *want* a new laptop. So I logged in to make an appointment at the Apple Store for a repair quote. While I expected it to be traumatic, I didn't expect the first trauma to be trying to simply get an appointment. The first available option was five days out! How could I survive in limbo for five days? Then I noticed that there are several Apple-annointed independent computer repair options in the area! SAVED! Honestly, I chose MacMedics partly for the quickly-available appointment and partly because they have a store cat. The store cat is most excellent and fluffy, by the way. If you go there, give the kitty gentle head scritches but not back pets. ANYHOW, the laptop died Thursday night and I took it to them Friday at lunchtime. It took about 2 minutes for them to inform me that the logic board had been fried by the failure of the video chip, that it's an $800 part, and *that there is an extended warranty that covers the issue until the end of this calendar year!* They were able to bill the entire repair to Apple. So having my laptop attempt self-immolation is aggravating, but timing is everything. MacMedics ordered the part immediately, and let me know that they couldn't predict how long it would take to arrive. They did inform me of the updates I would receive by email. Off I went to be limited to an iPad over the weekend and possibly for longer. Well, on Monday (literally the next business day) I got a lunchtime email letting me know that the repair was complete. Top notch service! As a side note, they inquired about my data backup solution without being pushy-selly about it (which is good, as I had that covered), and made a couple of security observations that were helpful and appropriate. All-in-all, MacMedics is a good alternative to the Apple Store. Especially since the Apple Store is completely lacking in resident cats. read more

If i could give them a zero star rating i would. I never do anything like this I literally made a yelp account just for the purpose of writing this review. This is how upset I am. I STRONGLY recommend that you do not take anything here for repair. My keyboard had a minor glitch and wasn't working so I took it here to get it replaced. My laptop came back to me COVERED in scratches. It's literally like they threw it on the ground multiple times.... My laptop was $1000+ and they treated it like trash. And then they claimed they weren't responsible for it and wouldn't fix it because I didn't take pictures of it beforehand. Who would think to take pictures when they were just getting a minor fix?????? I am so extremely disappointed with them and will never be giving them my business ever again. The hard drive went up with no warning so I only had half of my files backed up:(but they were able to recover everything exactly as I left it! Impeccable service as an ongoing personal and business customer. Some Apple stores seem to have a revolving door of service people. MacMedics seems to have stability of staff which is a good sign. The work is always professional and they can often see you sooner than an Apple store. I cannot recommend them enough. In fact, I drive past an Apple store to get there, by the way. And it's an hour drive. So there are more convenient options. Without our computers we're dead in the water so it isn't worth the risk. We never go anywhere else. read more

I have been a mac user now for about 6 years and any time I have had anything minor to major issues I have gone right to Mac Medics. These guys are seriously like under cover angels. One time I left my iphone on the roof of my car and it flew off going 55 mph. These guys were able to salvage my phone and it was completely affordable. They did it fast too. Recently my friend's hard drive failed. She and I both are photographers and our hard drives are everything. They could tell we were both very upset and despite it being an incredibly difficult fix that would normally be around $400 they agreed to try and figure something out and try and help us the best they could for a much more affordable price. To quote them "lets put our hearts and our minds into this and do our best." They really are amazing guys and they will ALWAYS get my business and I will always take my fellow mac users there. read more

I went in with a video card problem on my boss's computer and right away, they told me that it would be a waste of my money to get that problem fixed. I thought that was awesome of them. Many other companies would do the work knowing that the replacement part would inevitably fail and I would return with the same issue. In order for me to get what was needed for my boss, the employee at Mac Medic went out of his way to do a custom repair that got the result I needed. omg! i cannot shout loud enough about this teams' professionalism and speed! i stupidly updated my 2012 macbook pro to mojave and my hard drive failed, not to mention that i never backed up anything on my macbook before! my entire life and my client's photo shoot & wedding pictures were on my 6 yrs old laptop. after a 4 hour ordeal with apple support trying to help me on the phone, i took it to the actual apple store and they couldn't help me, all they could do was shrug and send me to one of their authorized repair shops (as a last resort). i asked the apple representative which one he trusted and without a blink he said mac medics in severna park md, at that point i had nothing to loose so i drove to macmedics thinking if apple could not help me, i doubt any other place would. they called me every step of the way and recommended that i get a new ssd hard drive because the one i have is a bad hard drive, hence the 2hrs boot up time and the unrecognized ports and internal hardware. i ordered a new hard drive and shipped it to them on tuesday, i am writing this review on thursday on my fixed macbook! my macbook actually operates faster than it ever did. this team is literally heaven sent! they retrieved every signle file including the important ones and all my lightroom edits that i had not exported yet! all my software data was restored to its latest edits. thank you mac medics! you guys are truky a gem! take your apple products here! read more
