Food is minimal :Pizzas and salads but very tasty and reasonably priced! The Brews are great, personally I recommend the "Cran Nuys" to start then go for what they recommend for your mood. They also have a few variety's to go (Got Four-4 packs of cans for a camping trip everyone was blown away. Popped in, post hike, for the Yelp LA Brewer's 6 pack. Couldn't resist ordering a margherita pizza to go as well. Unfortunately, Covid restrictions didn't allow for us to enjoy our food and drink on site. We would have loved to get a full vibe of the space. It was small but seemed like a cool place to hang out. The indoor area had two long tables to congregate at. The outdoor space had a couple round tables. Plenty of standing room both inside and out. There was even another long table and benches available at the other end of the parking lot. Friendly staff. There was one guy at the counter and a couple others working the kitchen perhaps. We dropped by with the intent to buy the variety six pack of craft beer along with the Yelp pint glass. We ended up leaving with a pizza and crawler of beer in addition to the 6 pack. Literally stale and cold (although it says "room temperature"), I asked if I could possible get another one and the staff member was super nice about that and said "no worries, I'll bring one right out of the oven" which gave me hope..let me tell you, it was warm but stale/hard as a rock. Pretty sure it's those frozen ones. Anyways, and that "beer cheese dip" was disgusting. The texture is that out of a cheese can, and they just topped it off with garlic powder. Obsessed. Just came with my family and another friends family. The staff couldn't be more friendly and amazing. I tried several beers and the cider and brought home a kombucha to try. Next time I will get the seltzer as well since that's my normal Drinking choice. Holy crap the pizza, everyone knows it's hard to find good pizza in LA but holy score here. Huge outdoor dining space, indoor as well. Darts. So many drink choices. Also tried the pretzel with the instensely garlic cheese. And it has CVT soft serve on site! Street parking was a little difficult and sketch (we went on Tuesday so weekend is probably a lot harder to find a spot), but I think that was the only bad part of our experience. We really liked the ample amount of outdoor seating, and how kind and helpful the staff were. When we weren't sure what we wanted, the bartender had us sample some beers and explained/showed the difference between cask and draft (we liked cask!). They're one of those places that give you a number after you order and you find a table. They were very quick bringing our food out to us and cleaning up as we went. The beer was good (can't remember what I had), but the pizza was the highlight of my life - we got the margherita pizza and it was incredible. Crust was perfectly crunchy and flavorful, and the sauce was rich and delicious. The bottom crust was super thin which was fine - though I would prefer a heftier base to make it easier to eat. Folding it in half helped. The fougasse with beer cheese was also good, but the cheese was a bit too thick and beer-y for me. We also ordered desserts after - they come in little jars so it's a lot of pudding/ganache/creme pot style desserts. I loved my chocolate black cherry one; it sent me straight to heaven. My husband and I were looking for a place for a date night and found this brewery on yelp, so we decided to give it a try. The reviews were good and wanted to try their pizza. When we got there, we noticed that the kitchen was closed, but they had food trucks. We ended up having some delicious Indonesian food. On the real... I only come here for my specific bar seat, my hazy beer and Bartenders Playlist. Lately I've been coming in and the music is incredibly boring. It's so boring, I ask the beertenders if we can change the music, to which I'm told, one person has created all the Playlists and they are only allowed to play those Playlist. Who is this narcissist? Like seriously, who are you to assume we like all your music. I worked at the bar. The best part of my bar was any regular was allowed to tap into the Bluetooth and control music for a specific period. EVERYONE LOVED THIS. It's not that this place is terrible but there are some key things you should know. First off it's not in the greatest neighborhood and parking is terrible. I'm not sure how they handle it in a busy summer night. I'm not an expert in these types of places as there is not my typical first choice but I was happy to try it. I had a lemon Shandy and it was good. We also order the Caesar salad and I love that they had anchovies on the top of it, like literally whole anchovies on top. Came in since my husband and I were craving pizza and they are in our neighborhood. The beer selection is great! My husband even found one he liked (Stone Drywall)! The pizza is so super delicious! I am sad to say I won't be back to this location. Are the beers good? You bet. Is the parking totally unacceptable? Yup. Here's the deal: If Macleod and VNBC believe they are viable players in the Los Angeles craft scene (they are) go rent a decent taproom location and keep the Calvert location for the actual brewery. Just do it. The "Macleod on York" location was fantastic but you were unable to play nicely with the landlord. Bummer. Find a new location that is on par with the quality of your beers and ales. It's not rocket science. For the record, I was born in the area and grew up there, too. Don't try to hide behind the thought that I just don't know the neighborhood. I do, surely better than anyone at your company. Parking near your location is untenable at 3pm on a Sunday. And it's not the fault of your neighbors but neither is it the fault of your customers who deserve a SAFE and WELCOMING environment. Do everyone (you, your employees , your customers AND your commercial AND residential neighbors) a huge favor and move your taproom somewhere that is actually suitable. I have never gone to KFC expecting it to taste like Pollo Loco. This place has an awesome atmosphere and full of knowledgeable people. So if you feel like expanding your horizon beyond the Gen Z IPAs feel free to stop by and open your senses to a new experience. They have added food to their location and I personally think their pizza is pretty darn good and definitely pairs amazing with their beer. The British pizza with house-made British bacon, cheddar & mozzarella cheeses, tomato, pickled onions, house tomato sauce and fresh thyme was delicious! I also liked the Hot Italian with house-made spicy Italian sausage, pepperoni, mozzarella and provolone cheese, and special Calabrian house tomato sauce. Macleod's offers excellent cask ales and English style beers. This is the place for you if you like smooth creamy low carbonation beers. They usually have around ten beers on tap, another half dozen on cask and a couple on nitro -- English bitters, Scottish ales, brown ales, mild ales, stouts and porters, and more. They've expanded their offerings from the early days. They've got an IPA (!), a hazy IPA (!!) and a low ABV lager, Van Ice, that's perfect for those hot summer days in the SFV. One of my favorites over the past year was Nightfall Over Prague, a black Czech pilsner. They've got a room next to their bar which is dedicated to darts. They're serious about their darts, hosting leagues and tournaments. Macleod still has an occasional food truck on hand during weekend days before the pizza oven fires up. There are free peanuts in the tap room. Parking can be difficult on the street. All in all this is an excellent place for English style beers. Super chill brewery located in the industrial section of Van Nuys! So spacious! They have all types of games - corn hole, darts, board games, card games, as well as indoor and outdoor seating. Tried a pint of the Calvert Crush Hazy IPA - firm hop bitterness, though lacking in that juiciness/finely textured, almost creamy body I look for in the best hazy's. My friends ordered a Soyrizo pie and that, on the other hand, was darn tasty. Bold flavors from the soyrizo and garlic oil matched perfectly with the spicy vegan mayo's creaminess, all atop a thin, airy crust. Wouldn't mind trying more of the beers if I'm ever in the area again, but I expect it'd be hard to beat some of our local heavy hitters like Monkish and Smog City Brewing. read more

MacLeod is tucked away in a small street around numerous auto shops. I wish I discovered it sooner, but I'm glad I found it through Yelp right at the tail end of this pandemic. They have a really big outdoor seating area and we didn't have any issues finding a table. They serve both food and beer on tap. My favorite was Lost in London (oatmeal stout)--so good!
