Absolutely adorable apple farm and stand. We started off picking some apples at the fields across the street. The smaller bag was $22, which felt kind of expensive, but we ended up getting a ton of apples. They had 4 varieties and plenty of trees to pick from. The farm store was super cute. They had a ton of gourds and different kinds of squash and pumpkins outside. The inside had a bunch of different apple products like butters, spreads, pancake mix, etc. There were no smaller options, unfortunately, so I wasn't able to get anything that I could take on a plane. We got some apple cider donuts and apple cider. Both were very tasty. We also got a whoopie pie and pumpkin fudge, which were good, but also very sweet. I also got an apple pie kombucha that was phenomenal. This place made me so happy and gave me all of the fall feels! It's the oldest apple farm in New Hampshire, founded in 1732. Please get anyone else to do the tractor bee rides. I was there yesterday (08/30) and the older man driving the tractor did not have a single polite bone in his body. Didn't smile. Didn't welcome us. Didn't ask how the ride was. Just said "you are responsible for getting your kid on and off the ride" to me and my husband. The guy visibly made kids uncomfortable when he told them they had to stay on the ride (kids that were easily 8/9 years old and could get on and off safely) until a parent came to get them. I get it. It's probably policy. But like....maybe try putting a positive face on for the company you work for?? We love this place and this was the only negative experience we have encountered. Great donuts, fun environment. Rude old tractor man who apparently just needs a job. Maybe he could pick apples. Alone. In a corner somewhere. read more

Went apple picking here when it was absolutely mobbed. One of the least pleasant apple picking experiences I've ever had but we pushed through because they had a good selection of apples. After arriving home with our apples we were excited to eat them but disappointed to realize that every single apple was mealy. I didn't even realize it was possible for an apple to become mealy while still on the tree but this place somehow managed. We paid a premium for our apples when I could have gotten fresher tasting apples from the grocery store. read more

Came for a quick visit while in the neighborhood. During the fall they had goats, and opportunities for kids. Already picked apples, a little store inside, and warm apple cider donuts, yum! They also had an ice cream shack that served some food as well. We helped ourselves to two chili dogs and made quite a mess. The store and ice cream stand was amazing. As tourists, we felt like we got the best experience. Great picture taking opportunities and great selection of items, souvenirs, and ice cream. Get the maple cotton candy! It was a crowd favorite. An added bonus is the sheep on site! They were so cute. Very family friendly. Note that depending on what you want to do - pumpkin patch, apple picking, etc. there are different locations for it and you might have to drive out. The only thing that I didn't love was that the apple selection didn't have quite the variety that I wanted - but perhaps it's because I'm an out of towner who doesn't know much about apples. Just stopped in for ten minutes, out in the orchard for peaches. $4/lb is a bit steep. My local market is $2/lb, pretty good, and they bring them to my town from the farm. We got some well sized, very juicy ripe peaches, about 2/3's of a small bag. Glad we didn't get many more, because of the price and risk of them hitting the spoiling point while we worked down the harvest each day. Friendly and helpful cashier, really quite and clear the seasone was winding down, but pump sweet peaches were easy to reach and pick. A nice experience, but don't overdo it. read more

been coming here since I was a little kid with my parents. Not sure if as an adult, I'll be coming back very often unfortunately. Be prepared to spend $20 or more on a small bag, and $40 on a large bag. If you want to purchase one bag, and fill it with a few of all the different kinds of apples... You can't. they FORCE you to purchase a new bag at every station. Three separate areas, with all different types of apples, you have to purchase a new bag at every station. It becomes insanely expensive and not even worth the experience. It's cheaper to just go to the grocery store. also be careful where you choose to pick apples, some of them do not have signs anywhere around them, saying you can't pick them, but you will still get yelled at like you're incompetent. read more

Returned today and idk I feel like it's been going downhill lately. The store was a cute little store and the ice cream was good as well (I got the chocolate and vanilla soft serve) there's also a cute little fishing pond across the street however the rope swing is dangerous and needs updating. Also when we were eating our ice creams and shopping, one of the cashiers were staring at us as if she didn't trust us. We were not causing trouble and we're just being stared at. Oh, you know, this is only my favorite place in the entire world. When I was a kid sometime last century, I won a gift certificate for guessing the number of pumpkins in a bin. It was the first time I'd ever won anything, and Mack's still makes me just as happy as it did that day. Though it's a lot bigger now. The apples just so happen to be the best in the world, whether you get them at the farm market or pick them yourself. The other products for sale are great quality too, and the connection to the community only makes the vibe that much better. (You'll often find a bake sale raising money for some good cause or other.) Worth a visit just for the smell of the market... or a walk through the beautiful orchards if you pick your own. I have never been treated poorly by any of the people working there. Quite the contrary. If you weren't sure whether to visit, please do-- I hope you love it almost as much as I do. read more

BE AWARE. New ownership. I have been going to Macks for over 20 years. I took my kids, now i take my grandchildren. Under previous ownwership, with regards to Pick Your Own Apples. If you paid for 2 large bags, they always gave you a little discount on the 2nd bag. Under new ownership, not only did they raise the price for the large bag, they do not give any discount on the 2nd bag. Don't they realize it is mostly families that go to Macks? Too bad, i guess it is the sign of the times. Price gouging whenever possible. They lost my business. read more

I am writing this review as I am incredibly disappointed in the lack of and bad customer service I received leading up to and the day of my wedding by Mack's Apples. Ideally, I would have a private conversation with management, but they have proved they have a bad track record at responding to customers when they attempt to contact them. When I first got engaged, I was excited for the opportunity to take our first look and bridal party photos at Macks Apples in Londonderry - local to my venue. I verified on their website the process of requesting photography on their property and completed the steps as directed. I filled out the appropriate documents and sent them to the email listed. I made numerous attempts to contact someone regarding my inquiry for the months leading up to my wedding with no success. Five emails, three calls, and I also stopped by the property three times to speak to someone. During one of my visits, I was able to speak to a woman in the back office regarding my multiple attempts to contact. With a lack of empathy, she shrugged her shoulders and said "Well, if you haven't heard back, I would just assume you cant take your photos here." I was shocked that a successful business couldn't even take the time to respond to multiple requests, even if that response was a no. Finally, after that final visit, I received a response letting me know that I was approved to visit the property the day of my wedding for my wedding photos. Fast forward to my wedding day three weeks later. We arrive at the property, on a weekday, during the afternoon to take photos for 45 minutes. I would like to add that we are in an empty field, with no customers, no apple trees and away from the pumpkin patch. The location I chose was somewhere typically not used by visitors. I am taking photos in my wedding dress with my new husband and I see a woman speed up in her car, exit her vehicle and she is clearly angry. She starts speaking to my bridal party; I am told she was rude and yelling at them stating it was private property and we could not be there. She then starts calling people on her cellphone while my maid of honor is locating the confirmation email proving that we were approved to be there. The woman stated "well, management has no knowledge of this." Its incredibly disheartening to be standing there in your wedding dress, trying to enjoy the moment, watching this exchange take place. There is a way to speak to people respectfully and with a courteous tone, especially working in a customer facing position. I am extremely disappointed in the level of customer service; the way (some) employees speak to people on the property, and just the way everything was handled. We bring our family to Mack's every year to enjoy the pumpkin patch, the country store and animals - and now I feel like my image of this business is tainted by this horrible experience. I hope management takes action to provide better service to their community moving forward. read more

My mother is vegan and loved the choices of plant based ice cream. The ice cream stand workers were so very pleasant. The girl at the window reviewed the order and went through ingredients with us. This is very important as my daughter has a nut allergy. They cleaned the ice cream scoop for us too. While we realize there is no guarantee- it was wonderful to have the extra attention. The woman at the counter is rude. She glared us down the entire time we were in there and made it clear she didn't want to help us. I wanted to buy bulk peaches. Apparently I'm not allowed to purchase them off the floor even though there were plenty. I was told to wait 10-15 minutes for a box of bruised fruit. Why would I want bruised fruit?? I have zero interest in supporting an unfriendly businesses. She is also hiding behind a plexiglass glass window and shoves your change at you like cooties are back. Apparently scared of the flu still, and rude about it. If you hate people or hate your job you need to move on and shouldn't be the face of a business. I'll buy my bulk fruit from Carter Hill Orchard when I'm in Concord next. They are always kind. read more

Mack's Apples has a range of fresh flavored whole milks. My girlfriend had blueberry milk, and I had the glory that is COFFEE MILK. Take the best frappuccino drink you've ever had, pretend it was actually good and made of both fresh milk and real coffee, and that's what you've got here. It was divine. Plus, if you wash out the bottle and return it you get $2 back, which drops the price to a very reasonable $1.75. I also hear this place has pumpkins, and someone said... apples? My niece, nephew, and I have been apple picking annually for the last 10 years and almost every year we come here!! They have an adorable country store where you can buy apple crisp mix, maple sugar candy, and honey sticks along with a bushel or a peck of apples OR toucan go apple picking on your own. There are 4 different locations you can. Go to to pick a variety of apples, for the last two years we have only been able to pick Macouns and Macintosh but let me tell you, they are delicious and last a long time. I am usually flying to another location because I no longer live in New Hampshire but they travel well and they last for weeks and weeks!! I absolutely love this place!!! read more

The apple trees I picked when I was growing up (some place else) were a whole lot larger than the ones here, if I remember correctly.. but that doesn't mean the apples are any less juicy and crisp. Neatly arranged rows and rows of apple trees. The people there are seriously trusting because anyone could've parked, walked into the orchards, and had a field day of free apples.. no one would've noticed. Great feel, great view, just...... LOVELY. Shop down the road sells pre-picked/bagged apples and anything you may need to make apple crisp/pie/etc.. Pumpkin and pear picking are also options. read more

It's insulting to learn that your 80 y.o. after-in-law was basically spot checked to make sure he wasn't stealing. My first experience at Mack's this weekend will be my last. The farmstand was was ridiculously crowded to the point it was hard to move. The jellies and jams were double the prices of other places, no hot cider, doughnuts, pumpkin butter in stock and rude employees. When we went to pick apples, there was a cop sitting at the entrance, so yeah those prison analogies are right on. The bag of apples was 12 dollars and fit about 25 apples and the orchard was fine. When I wandered back towards the counter, they immediately told me I couldn't go back on the orchard with the full bag, when I was actually trying to purchase a soda from them. Dumb high school kids that can barely speak coherently. This place assumes all customers are dishonest and stupid apparently and the reviews that crap all over the customer service couldn't be more accurate. This is no place to support or to experience the real old time New England fall tradition of pick your own. I'll never be back. read more

Worst PYO experience I've had. We go apple picking every year, sometimes more than once a year, and generally always have a blast. We tried Mack's for the first time this year, and we certainly won't be returning. It has multiple orchards on both sides of a very busy road, with everything else at a main site down the street. Definitely not fun driving around back and forth with young children and getting in and out of the car over and over again. In my experience, living in New England my entire life, large farms with multiple sites or large acreage offer tractor rides around the farm. No I'm not too lazy or obese to walk.... it simply isn't an option with young children on the busy road that Mack's is located on. Staff are not very helpful, generally giving quick, one word answers. The atmosphere of the orchard was much like a prison recreation yard with staff patrolling each aisle of the orchard with walkie talkies. I counted 10 patrols at one orchard, plus three staff manning the registers. One staff member chased us down, running from one side of the orchard to the other to tell us not to pick any apples from the trees around us as we walked past them to check out the pumpkin patch. We explained that we were going to look at the pumpkins and were able to read the multiple signs around us that read "please do not pick.". He responded, "i just had a feeling you might need a reminder.". Seriously? Grown adults with children in tote? It's not like we were a bunch of teenagers horsing around in the trees. We joked the whole time we were out about going to "apple jail" for having any fun. Needless to say, Our kiddos were very disappointed with the trip and so were we. My family has gone to Mack's on and off for around ten years, but this year will be the last. Like many of the other one-star reviews for this place, my family and friends group felt like we were in a minimum-security prison. There were many unpleasant interactions with the Apple Patrol, who made us completely uncomfortable. For example, we were picking apples on one of the few rows we were allowed to pick from, but it bordered on a Forbidden Apple row. Even though we were clearly picking from the allowed apples, we were asked to get out of the row. In another case, one of our kids was jogging down one of the rows to catch up with the rest of us, and an employee barked at him to not run. Then, when we had picked all of the unpalatable, non-forbidden, under-ripe apples we cared to, we wanted to go look - key word, LOOK - at the pumpkin patch. Not go into it, not pick a pumpkin. When we were accosted and told not to be near the pumpkin patch, we explained to the young employee that we were just looking and had no intention of going into the patch. About a minute later about ten employees came over, some in a truck, others on foot, like some kind of troop movement. At that point we left, and won't be coming back. At no point was the experience enjoyable. The apples themselves were mediocre, at best. If you're looking for a family-friendly and fun place to take the kids, this isn't it. It is probably important to note that of the several Mack's locations, this was site #3 which is some distance away from the farmstand. Maybe some of the positive reviews here are regarding the farmstand or one of the other sites. read more

Too much drama from the employees. They must be hurting for money. I went there last weekend and they barely had any apples left. Most of them were on the ground and there were so many mosquitoes around. What made this experience worse was a middle aged blonde woman who seemed to be one on the employees there, yelling at people and kids that they had overfilled their bags and needed to buy more bags for the overfills. If I were to guess they must have been hurting for business, but it definitely ruined mine and my children's experience hearing these employees yelling at everyone. People go there for the experience, and if their bags can barely fit the apples they have, the make smaller bags. I will most certainly not be going back there to hear more of these employees yelling. I would not want my children being exposed to that. Thanks, but no thanks! Next time I will buy my apples (which is cheaper) or find another farm in NH to do my family's apple picking yearly event! read more

Mack's is a fine place to visit for all of your apple-related needs. Several large orchards near the property provide plenty of apple picking opportunities. If you're in a hurry or don't feel like trudging out into the orchards, you can go into the main building and fill a bag yourself or buy a bag that's already been filled. The prices were a tad high, but I'd rather pay more for good local apples here than pay for the bruised ones they have at the supermarket. Lots of pumpkins too - you can head out into the patch or dig one out of the bins in front of the store. When I was a kid, I could have whatever pumpkin I wanted from the patch - provided I could carry it back to the car. In back, there's a great hill for sledding in the winter, though it can get a little treacherous when it gets icy and bumps form in the main track. The only real complaint I have about Mack's is the lack of hot cider doughnuts. They do have cider doughnuts inside, but they're not hot out of the doughnut machine. read more

Have them weight your apples. A peck is suppose to weight 10and a 1/2 pounds. Twice this year it was short by 2 pounds on 1 and 1 pound on another. Think they better do better before the state checks them out. It's our money and we should get a straight count. read more

This is a pure apple picking place. None of the mazes, animals, and cider donut draws you see at some of the other orchards, but if you want to feel more connected to nature, with less crowds, while apple picking, this place is for you. They had the cheapest apples out of all the orchards I have been to in New England, and the most plentiful selection too. Parking is free, but you have to do a lot of driving to get from one orchard to the next, since each different section has specific apples. There is a store with nice looking treats, such as jams, maple syrup, candy, etc. However, they don't have any fresh warm cider doughnuts if that's your true draw to the orchard, like me. I didn't have a problem with people treating me like a criminal, as many of the past reviews have suggested. They also had a ton of variety of pumpkins and squashes that I've never seen before. I'd be happy to try this place out again in the future. read more

I love Mack's. Not that I'm super seasoned with these kinds of things - I've only picked apples twice in my life and both times have been here. But I can't detect anything on my checklist that Mack's doesn't provide: 4 orchards to frolic through that are big enough that you're not tripping over people even in the peak season - check. Samples of different apple types to peruse before picking - check. Bountiful cider doughnuts - check. Trees big enough to climb to get the *best* apples - check. (Note: this is probably not allowed but I generally can't help myself.) Lovely local cheeses, jams, honey, baked goods, maple sugar candy, etc - check. It's become a new tradition to come to Mack's in late-Sept/early-Oct with my beloved college roommate and I really look forward to it continuing on and on into forever. Yay Mack's! read more
