The growing season has begun.... Peters Farm has always been a must for me for buying fresh vegetables and fruit. However moving out of the area changed that. So being that I was in Salem I decided to stop in. It was great to see that they had fresh, leafy lettuce, mint, and radishes. There were some very good looking strawberries. But I passed on them in need of vegetables & herbs. If I'm not mistaken each item I bought was $ 1.00 it just over it. * They do NOT take credit cards... Cash or check only. And just so you know there is no ATM close by that I know of. Anyway, what I got for the amount I paid I feel was a real bargain for fresher produce than at the supermarket! I wish I lived closer... Peter's Farm is going gangbusters this season now that we cant shop at the local MB's. Went early today (Sunday) and the parking lot was full and lines out the door. They have good produce. Guys unloading trucks of local produce as we were arriving. I will continue to shop here to supplement what I do not grow myself. PF is also cheaper than the local Salem Farmer's Market. I still feel the same about the cashiers. Borderline rude, curt, or just plain unfriendly. read more

There is nothing better than fresh produce which is all that Pete's sells. I recently had their butter and sugar corn, and even my not being much of a "corn on the cob" person, it was delicious. The same can be said for their cukes, tomatoes, green beans, and other produce. I can't wait for their fresh picked brussel sprouts. Prices are reasonable. This is the best farm stand I've ever seen!!! Super fresh, great prices and open June to November. I won't shop anywhere else. Check this place out, you won't be sorry. This is the type of business that you second guess writing a review about because you don't want too many people to know your secret, but, judging by the large crowd and full lot that was there at 4:00 on a Monday, I guess the secret is already out. It's a small looking farm stand that is bursting at the seams with ridiculously fresh seasonal produce at prices that make you want to fill up your trunk until you have to force it closed. I stocked up on corn, red and green tomatoes, zucchini, summer squash, kale, anaheim peppers, blueberries and local honey which again was priced better than anyone else around. $6 for a one-pound jar! The variety of veggies was huge and I only just scratched the surface with my purchase, but I don't think I'll be shopping anywhere else for my produce from this point on. In business for over 100 years at the same convenient location, Peter's has the largest selection of seasonal fruits and veggies at the best prices around, including hard to find farmstand items like eggplant, kale , swiss chard, mint and cilantro. I grew up going to Peters' Farm and it is by the far the best corn you are going to find. I refuse to buy it anywhere else. Everything they have is fresh and very tasty. 1 of my favorite stops in the summertime. On a side note, I have always had a pleasant experience there. Prices are fair people are good and the products are typically good. The last two times I went this year the corn was not as good as the first time. Perhaps it is the end of the early corn. The first batch was unbelievable the last two were unremarkable. The cucumbers and egg plant are amazing. The tomatoes are less than half the price of Shaws. read more
