I've stayed here twice, once to break up a longer trip and another time when I was in the area for…read moresomething else. This is mostly useful as a more interesting alternative to Rocky Mount's collection of very average chain motels along 64. It's definitely a different lodging experience and the clusters of tiny homes along a gravel road make for a colorful, fun little neighborhood feel. The parking is close by, and there are several food and (mostly) drink options at Rocky Mount Mills, which is adjacent. Note that there are only two restaurant options and the rest are mostly brewpubs, so food variety is limited. The hours of operation can be somewhat limited as well when it's not a weekend, so check that out when making plans. My first stay was in the Elizabeth, which was fine except the shower curtain was a little grungy and the sitting area wasn't suitable for curling up and reading, because it was just a padded bench with one end backing into a bookcase and the other into a countertop. Second stay was at the Neuse, which had a U-shaped seating arrangement where you could read for a while and a shower door that was much cleaner. So you're not allowed to stay in a place calling itself a tiny home and complain about it being small. I will just comment that the shower stall is hard to maneuver in, and if you drop the soap, you will have to get out of the shower in order to pick it up. Also, the stairs up to the sleeping loft are veeeeeeeeery steep. If you have to make a bathroom trip in the middle of the night, it can be quite a production. Also, the mattress is in the highest part near the ceiling, and heat rises. While the A/C unit worked well, it would be nice to have some sort of fan arrangement in the sleeping area. Note that the kitchen area provides a coffee maker and two mugs, a nice mini-fridge, a microwave, and some paper to-go cups. There are no other dishes, so if you're eating in, you'll have to account for that. The contactless check-in and check-out works fine, the tiny homes are cute, and the experience is distinctive. I wouldn't want to stay in one for more than a couple of nights, but for a short stay it's a worthwhile adventure.

I chose it because the steps to the upper floor looked sturdier and less steep than some of the other tiny homes. I was wrong. They are narrow but very deep. Precarious even if you're sober. And quite dangerous if you've been partaking in all the great breweries and restaurants. But that's not the house's fault. It was built that way probably to make use of every nook and cranny. And everything was spotless. The bed upstairs looked charming and comfortable. You definitely can't sit up in it without bonking your head. Would be perfect for children that never get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. Or for adults who have young enough bladders to make it through the night. Never fear, cause downstairs the couch does make into a bed of some type. Not the most comfortable thing, but when you're glamping you're having fun and we had some good laughs. Location is right across the street from Rocky Mount Mills which is super enjoyable for a night away. We had a great dinner, lots of drinks and breakfast at the coffee shop the next morning. If you have children with you, there are volleyball nets, firepits, and other outdoor things around the tiny houses. They give you a code before you check in that gets you in your little house. There's no place to "check in and out". Note that River & Twine also has a guest house. That would be more our speed for next time.

After we got on the road, my husband asked if I checked the reviews. I didnt. Well, when I did, I was horrified to learn that we were gonna stay in the Bates Motel! We stayed in the Fairway Villas. It was a small one bedroom unit upstairs. I was very pleasantly surprised when I opened the door. It was clean. The full kitchen is more of a kitchenette, but its fine because we were only in for a long weekend. The gave us enough supplies to last us including 2 loads of TIDE for the washing machine. The bathroom is older but clean. The bed was comfortable and the pillows are nice. The patio furniture on the screened patio was covered in pollen but thats just this time of year in NC. We travel alot and I would most definately write a negative review if this place was as bad as I read about, but we enjoyed our stay and I would most definately come back.

Note, we just wanted to walk thru the community center at 3pm, which was when they open now due to the plandemic, and the lady running it opened it at 3pm exactly, and started taking names and phone numbers on her list for people to enter. After she took one name down, she announced the procedure is to take one name next from someone that calls in, to be added to the list, and then someone from us standing outside (about 15 people). I said, we just want to walk though and she said we are not getting in unless we are on the list. I said to my wife, why are we standing here, let's go.]] Still a great place to decompress if you don't have any need to swim or use the community center. We stayed in the Sandcastle Village II, with a 2 bedroom, 2.5 bath condo with a nice quiet view on one of the pond. 4 nights here. Will be back but after the China virus stupidity is over. I know it's not Wyndham's fault, and we appreciate the quiet and clean place to stay. Awesome Jacuzzi tub!!!

Certainly the most unique lodging I've ever had!…read more What happens when someone takes a 1950s style motel, updates the facility and gives the rooms themes? You get the Ziegler Hotel & Suites! I was working about 20 miles NE of New Bern, and was looking for options other than (a) the $100+/night hotel chains in New Bern or(b) a longer drive to Havelock for a room more in the company's acceptable expense range. Fortunately my internet search found the Zieglar, with rates at least $20/night less than the New Bern chains and comparable with Havelock rates. I stayed in the 1940.s themed room. Frank Sinatra photos and album covers are featured on the walls, along with other 1940's stars from radio, movies, and sports. Other rooms have as themes the 1950's, 1960's, Elvis & Marilyn Monroe, and even a Goth inspired room. Here's was impressed me. The room had all of the modern conveniences (hdtv, microwave, small refrigerator) but also included a DVD player with several movies in the room, and about eight books. I opened the drawer of the writing table and found a 1940's edition of LIFE magazine. The bed was comfortable with sheets having a colorful design - not your typical white hotel sheets. The towels and other linens were a higher quality than what you would find at most hotels. The heat/AC unit was a newer remote control design, and along with the ceiling fan kept the room comfortable on hot humid summer days. If I were looking for a comfortable quiet place where I want to indulge in a good book or two for a few days I would definitely suggest the Ziegler. Don't think it would be a good choice for a family on vacation on the business person needing a place for business meetings, But - if you want a quiet place that isn't your run of the mill lodging room and at a reasonable price - give 'em a try!

The listing was inaccurate, and several amenities that were clearly advertised were either broken or not available at all. Some bathrooms didn't even have basic supplies like toilet paper. One shower had such low water pressure it was completely unusable. The dishwasher was broken for the entire week, which meant hand-washing dishes for 14 guests, three meals a day, for seven days. That is not what anyone signs up for on vacation. The house itself was not properly cleaned. There were cobwebs on multiple surfaces, visible rust throughout, and an overall neglected feel. For the price we paid, the condition of the property was unacceptable. Customer service was effectively nonexistent. We reported the issues, and nothing meaningful was done to resolve them during our stay. There was no urgency, no accountability, and no effort to make things right. Also worth noting: reviews appear to be filtered, showing only glowing feedback. Based on our experience, you are not getting the full picture when you read the listings. For the amount of money these homes command, expectations should be much higher. We would strongly recommend considering another rental company. You've been warned. Terrible consistent reviews on TrustPilot, Yelp and many other pages. The feeling is clearly unanimous and Twiddy clearly does not care.

Vents were caked with mildew, the bath mat was filthy, and dishes and cutlery had been put away wet and dirty. Dust covered the pendant lights and furniture throughout, triggering allergies for all of us. Absolutely zero effort had been made to maintain this property. The deck was riddled with rusty nails--my children were literally picking them up, an outrageous and dangerous hazard. The pool area was no better: the pavers around it were so scorching hot they became unsafe to walk on. We endured because of a death in the family, but this property was disgraceful. I would never rent again, nor would I trust any property under Twiddy's management.

This left me with very limited options during a busy rental season and scrabbling to figure out what to do. Although a replacement property (sound side) was offered, it was not remotely comparable to the original home (beach side) I reserved (8/26/25) in terms of location, features, and overall value. At that point (36 days before my arrival date), I was forced to either accept an inferior property or refund since they had no other similar option to my original reservation, which now has left me to pay significantly more for another rental with less options available as the reservation is for a peak time of the year (June 2026). The most frustrating part was that renters are expected to honor cancellation policies and commitments, but when an owner removes a property from the program, the burden and financial impact fall entirely on the guest. This created unnecessary stress, inconvenience, and additional expense for our vacation. I would strongly encourage future renters to have backup plans as this happened 36 days before my check in date.
