Waterside Resort…read more Just like previous reviews I read it really is in the middle of nowhere. It wasn't like any other property I have stayed at. Normally you go check in at the front desk and there's someone there to help you whenever you need it. At this location the office is not open 24/7 and I think one of the apartments was converted to be partly the office. They do provide an after hours number. There are a lot of bugs. They have a couple bug traps around the property, but it really isn't enough. We saw a lot of gnats and spider webs. The trolley carts to take your bags up to your room were rusty and you couldn't put too much on it or the tires would go flat. We were worried that this was going to be a mistake. When we finally got our keys and went into our room It was completely different. The space is a generous size. The kitchen is huge. I wish my kitchen was that big. The first bedroom had a separate shower and tub. The tub had jets, but I didn't know how to work them so I couldn't get them to come on. The towels aren't very soft. We usually bring our own so that wasn't a big issue. Maintenance had to come to help with our remotes because they weren't working with the TVs. Apparently dish network remotes have to stay in the same room as the box. Maybe a suggestion on that would be to label the remotes with what room they go in because they are all the same. The beds. Were comfortable and everything was clean. They provide a washer and dryer, however our dryer wasn't drying the clothes. The office was closed that day and I called after hours and maintenance came over quickly. He did his best, but wasn't able to fix it. They offered to let me bring my clothes to the office to be dried and maintenance was very nice when we had to call. There is a large balcony with chairs and tables where you can sit outside and enjoy the view. The view is spectacular. The water is so calming and beautiful. The pool was cold, but I think that is to be expected in October. Not all of the jets worked in the hot tub and the water wasn't very hot. We didn't use the fire pit but they do have that as an option and they also have a BBQ with utensils. There is a cute gazebo with chairs that you can sit in and just enjoy the quiet and the water . There is a small town across the bridge called Edenton. A lot of places were closed during the week. We didn't get to go into the lighthouse, but we went into one of the other houses that had a bookstore. The people in there were really friendly and told us some history about the town. I do recommend checking it out. It does have its own little history. They have a couple of restaurants that aren't too pricey, and have decent food. It's not the best I've had, but it's also not the worst. We drove over to a Piggly Wiggly, which was about 20 minutes away in Plymouth I think. That area was pretty scarce. They did have some fast food restaurants. I bought two packs of meat at the store so I can make two meals in our room. The meat went bad after only a day. I recommend going to the Food Lion instead . They have a Food Lion in Edenton, which was nice and convenient. There is a Walmart about 45 minutes away and the best way to tell I'm not a country girl is my excitement to see a Starbucks lol. If you are looking for a place to go relax and be left alone, this is the place for you. It's perfect for sitting outside and reading a book. We played games every night and it was a really nice place just hang out with your family. I don't think it was worth 215,000 points though.

The Pack House Inn is a beautiful B&B that I had really high hopes for. Unfortunately, it didn't…read morequite live up to my expectations. When we made our reservations, we were asked what time we would like to check in. We told them 2 P.M. When we arrived, shortly after 2, we were told by the person in the office (who we had to wait on for about 15 minutes) that check-in was at 3 P.M. No, problem, we thought. We'll just go explore Downtown Edenton, which is only a few blocks away, and return in 45 minutes or so. We returned around 3:15, only to find that our room still wasn't ready. After waiting an additional 30 minutes or so (in the sweltering ENC heat, mind you), our room was finally ready. We were staying in the cottage, located adjacent to the main inn, and I must say that I wasn't that impressed with the place. It was not up to par with the rest of the place. It wasn't dirty, just old and decrepit. The cottage definitely needs some attention. The cottage is also the place where breakfast is served, which makes it virtually impossible to get any sleep after breakfast starts. The floors in this building creek very badly, and you could hear the pounding footsteps in your room quite early in the morning. We were in Edenton for a friend's wedding, and after we returned from the reception that evening, we were surprised to find that we had been locked out of the cottage by the other couple occupying the second room. After calling the office, we had to wait another 30-45 minutes before someone showed up to let us in the place. I was not happy, to say the least. Breakfast was done very well at this B&B. Its also worth mentioning that the bed in our room was extremely comfortable. There were some bright spots along the way, but overall, I was not that pleased. I think I would give The Pack House Inn one more try, but only if we were able to book a room in the main inn, and not the cottage. Hopefully, their performance will be a little better the next time around.

I would have also liked to have rated this place higher but I can't in good faith do that. The resort is dated. The staff are all very nice but this is a resort standard. Nothing was exceptional or grand. It was all very overpriced for what you ended up with. My discounted rate should have been the normal rate. There is no way I would ever stay at this place at their listed normal rate. You'd have to be a fool. Honestly, You would be better off just renting a house for the price because the amenities are not worth it in this specific case. The food was mid but at arena prices. 20$ for a beer, 24$ for a burger, 4$ for an iced tea.. after the first day we just went into town for food. It ended up being much better economically and quality wise. The beach behind the resort is nothing remarkable. In fact it's sloped and awkwardly angled. The surrounding area itself is immaculate and lush with beauty and there are loads of things to do. It's definitely a family place and not an anything else kind of place so don't get any ideas. Kind of boring honestly, not really much going on. You really do have to make your own adventures. The complimentary bikes you can check out are all falling apart. The walls were so thin I could hear the conversations of the people in the room next to me. The power went out multiple times the day I was checking out which complicated things further including trying to get WiFi as well as the fact that they charged me for a latte that I never ordered and they had to remove it from my final bill. Good thing I checked. I am talking specifically about the resort and not the area itself. Parking was a free for all and there is no valet. If you leave your spot during the day good luck trying to get another one. If this place put some TLC into it they could turn it around very quickly.

Well, nothing has changed, except maybe it is better, although I am unsure how that is possible. Becky is truly one of the most gracious hostesses ever! Each room is just as welcoming and warm for your arrival. Your name awaits you on the door, and a piece of chocolate is calling your name from the nightstand beside the bed. Water, and other beverages are in the fridge in the foyer/hallway upstairs outside of the rooms, with any extra amenities you may want to use, such as when you forget your toothpaste, or if you want to use the iron, etc. We went in December so the house was so eloquently decorated for Christmas. Becky always accommodates any special needs or requests for breakfast, such as nut allergies and hubs and I being vegetarian since the last time I frequented the Moss House. Becky is also always equipped with local restaurant recommendations, as well as fun things to do in the area. A little extra thing that I love, The Moss House has it's own little soap in the bathroom. They leave you a little bag to take the soap that remains home with you, so (1), you are not wasting soap by leaving it and it getting thrown away, and (2) You can enjoy the herbal soap at home, because it truly smells amazing! We've now stayed in all of the rooms available and I truly love each room. I wouldn't hesitate to stay in any of them as they are all wonderfully accommodating and cozy!

Washington is a sleepy town but very pretty and peaceful. The Moss House had pleasant large rooms with modern amenities and lots of old fashioned charm. The rooms were very comfortable and really inviting. But the reason I will be returning? The breakfast! Both mornings the breakfast was interesting and made wonderful use of the local produce. There was plenty of fruit and local vegetables and we both indulged our sweet tooths with the pastries and sweet rolls! A fabulous find in a sleepy little town!
