Captain of Her Heart Room
Na L.

My boyfriend and I went here for a weekend getaway. Stayed there for 2 nights. Stayed in the captain of her heart room. It is the largest and thus the priciest room that they have. If you are particular about the size of your bathroom, then this is should be your choice. The bathroom is large with 2 sinks, a jacuzzi ( they didn't do a good job a cleaning the calcium buildup in the jets though ), and a walk in shower. Breakfast is from 7 to 9 I believe and is cooked by the hostess and is truly scrumptious. The inn is located within walking distance of downtown, waterfront, and all the historical sites. So it is conveniently situated. Please be aware that because this is such a small town, restaurants are closed on Sunday's in the downtown area. So for lunch and dinner, you only have two choices that I found. Nothing fancy for lunch ( great food!) and chicken kitchen for dinner. Do not care for the chicken kitchen but was the only thing open till 8. This lovely town definitely deserve the title " the prettiest little town" in nc.

This is a wonderful and comfortable place to stay and relax! The food is excellent and will not leave you hungry!!

This was the most memorable B&B stay of my life. The charm of the owners was only exceeded by the exquisite quality of the gourmet cuisine. Our room was a stylish romantic theme with modern conveniences subtly blended into the quaint charm. I can not wait to return again! Thank you to the owners, Don & Diane, for making us feel so welcome and for so many amazing meals.

Everything about this lovely inn is easily a four or five. The bed is a zero…read more The people who work here are super nice and they genuinely love the place they work. The front porch is amazing to just sit on and relax. It's only a couple blocks from the water and downtown area so completely walkable. It's so convenient to have a restaurant on the property so no one has to drive. The breakfast was delicious with nice touches. We loved that you could eat within a two hour time frame rather than having to eat at a certain time. The one thing that will keep me from going back is the bed. It was a regular cheap looking mattress that had a Temper Pedic mattress topper pad on top. Lame. With two of us in the bed tossing and turning all night, by morning, five inches of this pad was hanging off one side of the bed. The pillows felt like bricks. The sheets were the kind that make you sweat all night. Oh! I almost forgot about the plastic covering on the mattress pad! Lovely sound every time you moved. Needless to say, we didn't sleep well at all. One more thing - the descriptions of all of the rooms said "ironed sheets." While I certainly don't care if my sheets are ironed, the point is not to say they are when clearly they aren't.

There was no one there to greet us when we arrived and no one at the desk when we left. We never felt welcomed - the staff was not particularly friendly and we felt like no one cared we were there. Our room was awful - the bed was uncomfortable as were the two chairs in the room. It was incredibly hot with no thermostat to control the room temperature. Our door was not sealed properly and the light poured through the door at night. Breakfast was a joke. For fruit I got three blueberries, two grapes and a half a strawberry with a half a slice of bread. Our coffee was lukewarm. Our eggs and toast were not cooked properly. It was so bad that even though we paid for two nights, we left after the first night and forfeited the cost of the second night. If you are going to Edenton, stay somewhere else.

When we made our reservations, we were asked what time we would like to check in. We told them 2 P.M. When we arrived, shortly after 2, we were told by the person in the office (who we had to wait on for about 15 minutes) that check-in was at 3 P.M. No, problem, we thought. We'll just go explore Downtown Edenton, which is only a few blocks away, and return in 45 minutes or so. We returned around 3:15, only to find that our room still wasn't ready. After waiting an additional 30 minutes or so (in the sweltering ENC heat, mind you), our room was finally ready. We were staying in the cottage, located adjacent to the main inn, and I must say that I wasn't that impressed with the place. It was not up to par with the rest of the place. It wasn't dirty, just old and decrepit. The cottage definitely needs some attention. The cottage is also the place where breakfast is served, which makes it virtually impossible to get any sleep after breakfast starts. The floors in this building creek very badly, and you could hear the pounding footsteps in your room quite early in the morning. We were in Edenton for a friend's wedding, and after we returned from the reception that evening, we were surprised to find that we had been locked out of the cottage by the other couple occupying the second room. After calling the office, we had to wait another 30-45 minutes before someone showed up to let us in the place. I was not happy, to say the least. Breakfast was done very well at this B&B. Its also worth mentioning that the bed in our room was extremely comfortable. There were some bright spots along the way, but overall, I was not that pleased. I think I would give The Pack House Inn one more try, but only if we were able to book a room in the main inn, and not the cottage. Hopefully, their performance will be a little better the next time around.
