Early in December I needed to get my roof replaced. I selected 7 contractors. Out of those contractors I narrowed it down to 3. I choice maciel because compared to to others the price was a bit better. However, roofs are expensive and worth it. I had my roof inspected and they offered a bid. I had them remove some Wood rot , level my roof and install new gutters as well. And they told me Upfront how much the Extra work would be. I knew the price up front. Also they are the only company in the area out of 3 that actually do flat roofs.. Many other roofing companies only do pitched roofs. I am very pleased with the quality of work done on my roof because now it looks like a Gray fitted carpet up there. They answered all my questions. And their payment process was straight up front as designated in the contract. Very doable. The work was done in 2days. And the inspector for the city came by and checked their work I believe it's my understanding that this roof will last 20 to 25 years. Got a quote from Maciel Roofing and two other highly rated roofing companies (though turns out my regular guy, one of the two other companies, also quotes for the third company, so two quotes total). Manuel Roofing quote was WAY high (more than twice other quote) so had my guy compare quoted work, looking for differences (hey, a legitimate, higher quote that involved more work wouldn't be out of line). Turns out the work statements we nearly identical. I asked my regular guy (who decided to retire and so only quoted for the third company) what gives and he laughed and said Maciel either wanted me send his family to Hawaii or just didn't want the work. Our roof is done. Husband found this roofer on Yelp. They were from Hayward and the house was in Antioch. At first I was wary because they were not local and had to travel (we used to live in Union City so I know the travel) and I wanted him to pick a local roofer. However local roofers were slow to respond to him and or were just not readily available I think and one was way over the bids of the norms.......or truthfully my husband just didn't have the patience if someone did not respond to him quick enough. Maciel's even gave my husband some military perk or discount. Our roof was done in 2 days and it's beautiful!!! Hubby mostly dealt with them but I'm just looking at the aesthetics and it's really lovely!!! Their price is very very reasonable....it even almost matched some of the 2 bids we had almost more than 1 or about 2 years ago but we later postponed doing the roof.....the material my husband requested was of a good quality I know coz I picked the color. He says ours had a better upgrade for the price compared to the neighbors. Don't hesitate to use them just coz they're in another city. I would recommend them to anyone. I love supporting local businesses. When I was searching for a roofer to replace two roofs, I saw high ratings for Maciel Roofing. They gave me decent estimates for two roofs. I have to say I am beyond disappointed at the quality of workmanship and customer service. I found that the roof that was replaced had areas of dry rot remaining. I can see it from the attic space. I asked for a full roof replacement. In addition to the roof replacement, I asked for overhang to be added to complete the roof and they gave me additional costs. After approving the additional costs, they wanted to charge an extra $2500 without my approval. During the correspondence with the owner of Maciel Roofing, instead of working with me on these concerns, he offered to come back and take out the installed overhang. How do you remove an installed overhang without damaging the other parts of the roof? I was appalled by his statement. Below is the email, I received. I felt this was a bait and switch situation when I received this email. The teaser price and good review has the consumers signing contract. However, at the end, we don't get the service that was promised. Now this situation could have been very easily solved, by calling and asking for approval/clarification prior to doing the job. I am not an expert in roofing; therefore it is the company's responsibility to ask and clarify the concerns with customers. It was supposed to be a two-day job, they were done in a day and a half. I couldn't be there on the first day. I showed up on the second day hoping to inspect the work, no one was there when I arrived. I was not notified in time when there was a situation with the roof. Administrative person I spoke to was nice and was sympathetic with the situation. I received pictures of the rotted plywood after the new roof was completed. With this review, I don't expect a warranty. Nor that I would call them anyway. I don't want to speculate, but this might be the reason for bad customer service, so that they don't have to warranty. I didn't go through with the other roof installation. Let's just say, I will never ever recommend them due to the subpar workmanship and lack of customer service from the owner company. They provided excellent communication, promptly responded to us via phone/email, and gave all necessary details of our roof replacement in a timely manner. Our start date was two weeks following initial contact, workers arrived promptly, and all was completed in two days (with a 3rd day set aside for the required inspection). Permits were handled by Maciel Roofing. They stripped off all previous shingles, did repair work, re-roofed the entire house, and installed new gutters. The clean-up was remarkable. To start Pete Maciel and team were VERY responsive when we first started getting bids for a new roof. They showed up to the roof inspection when they said they would, and they had a very competitive bid back to us in a few days. I can't understate how much this speaks to their professionalism. We got multiple bids from roofing companies and more than one company flaked or never bothered to send us a bid afterwards. Not Maciel Roofing... they were on time, punctual, organized, thoroughly answered our questions, and were competitively priced. It was a pretty easy decision to go with them. The Day of the job a small army showed up at 7am (as promised) to demo the roof. They were careful (as much as can be expected) in containing the demo mess. They dropped plastic around the house and when they were done, they thoroughly cleaned around the house. (They did not clean up all the small stuff that falls inside the attic but they do warn you up front that they wont be able to contain all of the mess that falls into the attic... they just get the larger pieces.) Maciel handled all of city permits / inspections and just tacked the permit expense on at the end of the job. No upcharge. Very convenient and fair. Any pieces of rotted wood were replaced. A beam was repaired and several supporting vertical pieces were replaced. New vents were installed. We noticed the much cooler attic. You couldn't ask for better! After 15 years of needing to replace my roof, I couldn't avoid it any longer. I got about 10 different bids for the job. Some high, some low. It was important to get a licensed contractor who guaranteed their work. Pete (the owner) came out and took a look around and said he would have an estimate shortly. Got one that afternoon. I had to wait a couple of weeks to start the job, but once they got started, boy did they deliver! I had a carport that was so narrow it always scraped my side mirror. When I mentioned to Pete I was looking for someone to expand the carport and lay down concrete over all the weeds and dirt my gardener has to clear out twice a year, he said "We can take care of that for you." Small increase to the estimate. The original estimate was four days of work. The crew (a big crew and big trucks) arrived early and they got the three layers of roof off first day. Second day was just as busy. Laying down roofing, setting up beams for the carport and laying out concrete. One day two, Pete's son said "Were done." Talk about under promise and over deliver. We just had our flat roof done by Maciel Roofing last week. We got several bids on different kinds of roofing materials like TPO, bitumen... Maciel Roofing 's bid is most competitive and reasonable. The main reason I decided on Mariel Roofing is their detailed proposal and their prompt response. I had the sky light replaced at a very reasonable price too. Pete is very responsive to all my emails and answered all my questions. Their crew are very efficient, finished 3 flat areas in 2 days. They are very friendly and very detail oriented , and went out of their way to exceed my expectations. They did a very good cleaning job upon completion of the project. Great experience! They came out promptly to do an estimate and were able to fit us in on short notice to complete the job due to a cancellation. We were lucky to get in before the rain! The team working on the roof was very efficient and got the project done in only one day (we do have a small house though). The previous roofers has applied mastic really far up onto the vertical surface of our house, so once the old roof was removed, portions of unpainted house were exposed. The team was nice enough to repaint these areas and even rehang our Christmas lights. We also appreciated them doing such a good job with clean-up. When our garage roof was done by another company, we found lots leftover rusty nails in our yard. We got a few estimates before deciding to go with Maciel. I liked that the price they gave was firm. Some other companies had a lower base price, but with a lot of conditional add-on charges for how many layers of roof they had to remove, etc. We felt more comfortable going into the project knowing what we were going to spend. read more

Two, we had a dog that was not happy to have strangers around his turf, and had to be inside for most of the day, but at times he had to be put out which meant lots of barking.
