Maci's is by far the coolest coffee/cafe around. We were roaming through Highland and was looking for a place that provided free Wi-Fi and great drinks/snacks. All employees were friendly and welcoming and allowed us to stay and do work for a few hours! This is the type of establishment that allows you to justify leaving higher tips because the service you receive is excellent. The Matcha Latte w/ Soymilk and their regular house coffee are on point and made fresh. Definitely a place everyone needs to stop by to hangout and get some work done! Thanks Maci Cafe! read more

Run don't walk. The sandwiches are phenomenal. You can put them on a Kaiser Roll or a Rosenberg bagel. I'm obsessed with the following: a Teriano (egg avocado and roasted red peppers) and I add pickled onion, Asiago cheese and Balsamic Mayo. Hubby loved the turkey panini as well. It's the real deal. It really melts my heart when I discover good food for a good price. The usual for breakfast is my favorite. It's simple but has so much flavor. Hooray for loads of smiles on a freezing cold day! I wandered into Shangri-La after another coffee joint I frequent in this hood closed early. I walked in and was determined to be unimpressed. I have "my place" already and this was going to be second best no matter what... Except that it wasn't. Yes, it is small, but the coziness factor is huge. The crew working when I wandered in were so friendly I wanted to hang out longer just to soak up some happy. They served me tea in an extra large, vintage, unique mug that I wanted to steal, and their baked goods made me wish I hadn't already eaten. I like this place, enough to take a detour the next time I find myself wandering to my other, now less favorite, coffee shop. read more

I have been here a couple times for coffee. Typically, I am meeting folks at Linger, or another nearby restaurant, and I have time to kill before others show up. So, I will wander into the eclectic coffee nook that is Shangri-La. The vibe here is kind of hipster/casual (in a good way). The place seems to get a lot of foot traffic from the local neighborhood. They are serving up Lavazza ("Italy's favourite coffee"), and it certainly seems to make for a rather smoothly caffeinated beverage. Good service, great coffee, standard pricing, cool place . . . what more could you want? read more

Just an excellent experience overall. The owner was ultra friendly, serving me some delicious espresso that had just the right amount balance. I use this place for business meetings and just for an afternoon stop to get a delicious cookie and espresso. Oh, and they have free open WiFi too! read more

This shop is very small, limited seating, but quaint. The food offerings are original and tasty. In terms of espresso drinks I've had mochas here -- and they were tasty. It's clear to see they care about their drinks and food. I like this place, it's a local gem, and I will be back. read more

There are times when a man just wants a cappuccino. Usually I would walk over to Masterpiece Deli because, well, they make a damn fine cappuccino. But if the hankering hits around the lunch rush, it's just not expedient. That's when I'm glad that there is another coffee gem in the 'hood. Shangri-La is a quaint, cozy little coffee shop. They make a good cappuccino, have a nice selection of baked goods, and are always exceptionally friendly. Today, in addition to my tasty cappuccino, I got a blueberry scone that was so well made, and delicious that I actually didn't mind going back to work... While they don' t bake their own baked goods, they have done a great job choosing their supplier. Overall, Shangri-La is a great little coffee shop- seemingly without pretension, but chock-full of tasty treats, and good cappuccino! read more

Coffee was ok (though I didn't order anything fancypants or particularly decadent), but the service was great. I wandered in about 10 seconds from closing, and the barista happily mussed up the espresso machine he'd just cleaned, retrieved condiments from the fridge, and told me heroic, adventurous stories of how he busted up his knee. (Don't worry! The kittens are safe!) I can get decent coffee anywhere, but kittenventures? That's what makes a shop worth coming back to. read more

Went to this little place while I was waiting for my scooter to be serviced. I had a coupon for a dollar off an espresso, which I must have lost on my walk over (i have a large butt and stuff generally makes its way out of my back pockets easily). Nevertheless, the barista dude took my word for it. I got an iced americano...it was good. those things are hard to screw up, but props anyway. Its a nice little shop in a neighborhood thats almost too cool for me, but the coffee shop dude made me feel right at home. Free wifi, rock on. The pastries looked delicious, but alas, i resisted. All I can say is that no matter what, you cannot go wrong with a cookie as big as my face. read more

Paninis are soo good. I only wish there was more fillings in the panini. Otherwise, I love all the unique paninis on the menu. So many choices, but I of course went for the two featuring prosciutto. One had tapenade. The other had truffle spread and arugula. Yummy!!! Service was super nice. They don't have ice tea on the menu, but they brewed us some anyway. How nice! read more

My favorite coffee shop and lunch spot in Denver. I lived in the neighborhood during the ownership change, and Massimo has done wonders with the space. Now, after living in Cap Hill for the last year and a half, I have to make the trip back whenever I can. The paninis are to die for. The bread is unbeatable. Staff is friendly and still remember me/my order regardless of when I was last in. They remember all the neighborhood locals. Great coffee and good, but I wouldn't say "great," treats. The staff is always really polite and friendly, which to me is half of the experience anywhere you go. My only small gripe is I think the shop itself has poor ventilation, because every time I leave my clothes smell like grease for hours. That may be a good thing for bacon fans, but it kind of grosses me out. Otherwise definitely worth a stop for the coffee and/or the breakfast sandwiches (I really like whichever one has avocado and eggs), but the macaroons, in particular, are among my favorites in the city! read more

Had breakfast at Maci this week for the first time. YUM! We had an everything Bagel (Rosenbergs!) with egg/swiss and a "Usual" breakfast sandwich (egg, ham & Asiago) on a roll. Both were fantastic. Where do i start? After moving to Sloan's from DTC, i had been hunting for a local hip but simple place with just fresh breakfast/lunches and amazing coffee. Coming from Singapore, I am a food and coffee snob. I chanced upon Maci's, a hidden gem wedged between Low Country Kitchen and Lola's. Amazing sandwiches and fresh bread, produce, meat.. everything. My favorites are the "Nuova" and the Tuna. The Cortado and Mocha is my sinful pleasures that provides the sustenance for the rest of the day. Highly recommend Maci's cafe for an easy patio breakfast on weekend mornings when you want to avoid massive brunch crowds for pancakes that you can make at home. Randomly stopped in after lunch for something warm to drink. This place is pretty cool. Small little cafe but the baristas are pretty cool and were chatting with us as we were waiting for our drinks. I dont drink coffee so I ordered a earl grey tea latte with nonfat milk w/ little sweetness and it was pretty good. The barista was making fun of my drink specifics lol but it was all fun. anyways, definitely a place to come back to if I'm ever visiting the area again. read more

I actually ended up here by accident as I needed to meet a colleague. What a cute little place and a wonderful find!!! A little bit of Italy right here in LoHi. I haven't had this good of a panini in the US. Multo bene Massimo!!!! Ok back to the food itself. They have about 40 different options for paninis; I ordered the Veggie. The bread came straight from Europe no doubt about it. Just the right amount of outer crust and bite but soft inside. It came with grilled eggplant, tomatoes, fresh mozzarrella and pesto. I was sooooooo good. They had a new vendor for flan so we got the pleasure of trying it for free. It was the most decadent flan I have had in ages. Hats off to you guys. Heard from 2 separate people in one day that I had to stop in. So glad i listened to them. I got a cafe au lait with almond milk and TIRAMISU syrup. Heaven already. I also got a panini, and it was great too. Such a selection here. With only one person working the espresso machine and the panini maker, it took a little bit, but I got to sit back and relax on the patio while I waited. Amazing! My husband and I were visiting and wanted a light lunch. We passed this little cafe that had specialty coffee drinks and paninis. It wasn't crowded and we decided to give it a chance. Wow! I'm glad we did! Best panini, actually, best sandwich we have ever had! How can a small Cafe make such an amazing panini? Who cares, as long as they keep doing it. This was the one place I wanted to go back to. Unfortunately, we didn't have time, but I haven't stopped thinking about this place and WILL get back one day. This place is right down the street from my work and it's got some tasty coffees. I've never eaten anything here except a breakfast burrito, but there are probably better options. Pastries seem pretty popular, but oh god, do not get the breakfast burritos. At least the vegetarian one. It fell apart and was a sloppy and unsatisfying mess. FOOD IS SO YUMMY. I had the angi panini, and it's like typical Italian style panini so at first I was skeptical but that was dispelled at the first bite. Amazing combination of flavored. It wasn't too filling and it wasn't meager portions, it was literally the perfect amount of sandwich. The pineapple on the side was fresh and delicious. The cashier was so friendly. I've been coming here for breakfast for years. I've tried every breakfast sandwich at this point and love them all equally. I just tried a lunch panini (the Truffo) for the first time and I've definitely been missing out! Can't wait to try more.
