They had lots of produce and preserved veggies in jars! They also had a sample area where you could try various apples, pickled veggies, fudge and apple cider! We decided to have sweets before lunch and ordered their strawberry ice cream sandwich and strawberry pie! The strawberry ice cream and donut combo was delicious!! We would order it again in a heartbeat! The strawberry pie tasted like it was just strawberry jam as the filling and we didn't really like it much. Their burgers were so delicious and the sauce they offered were so good!! They had a chipotle and BBQ sauce that was so good that we regretted not asking if they sold it there to bring home with us! Can't wait to be back in the fall for more!!

The selection for watermelon flavored things were small too. I only ordered the watermelon ice cream, which tasted good. It was an artificial creamy watermelon flavor. The lady who took my order wasn't very nice though.. It was nice getting to try the free samples of apples, and other things. The watermelon sample wasn't sweet at all, so I ended up not buying a watermelon from here. There were a few vendors that had some cool things but I didn't end up buying anything. Totally not worth driving an hour for this event. Maybe I would come check out these fruit themed events if I lived closer. I ended up buying a watermelon at Costco instead..

11/17/24 We recently…read morediscovered Hooverville Orchards on a local community post and have been looking to go check them out. Hubs loves pie in general so you know I had to drag him along! We finally made it out on Sunday morning and it's a really cute orchard! Hooverville Orchards offers so many fruit pies, cobblers, cookies, sourdough bread, tiramisu, fruit juices, jams and jellies and fresh baked gluten free pies. We grabbed a large peach blackberry pie and a sourdough bread to go. The sourdough is sooo good! It's perfectly the right chewy texture and taste! I wished we would have grabbed 2! My kids felt like the perfect description for this bread was if sourdough & ciabatta had a baby bread. OoOo haha. I read that they occasionally have garlic loaves, rosemary flavored and even Olive ones too! I'd have to come back one of those weekends! They are taking Thanksgiving Pie orders through this week. The pie was really good too! The crust was flaky and good. The fruit was not overly sweet or tart and best of all served warm if you go early enough. This past weekend, they also had satsuma mandarins available for $3/lb. We grabbed a bag and grabbed a little over 3lbs for the kiddos lunch snack for school this week. It's a tad tart but oh so juicy bursting tart mandarins! It's a bit of a windy road getting there so try to take it easy and try not missing the left turn to the Orchard as you'd be stuck for a few minutes up the hill trying to make a U-turn to make a sharp right turn. We didn't spend a ton of time there but read that they have a huge rose garden where you can pick your own roses for $1/stem! We'll have to roam around next time! We'll be back soon.

Plus, the history of the area, and how it came to be, is equally impressive. This is one of my favorite orchards in the area. The bags of Mandarin oranges are always fresh. I came to get gifts for a holiday gift exchange and they have a good variety of product to select. It includes candles, fudge, syrup, cookies, vinegars and much more. They also carry my absolute favorite Mandarin marinated salmon. It is amazing. Last time it was uncooked, and this time smoked. The owner is very personable and helpful and it's just an easy place to come and shop, and, again, it's supporting a local business. One of our agricultural type places we should support to thrive. It's a great place, GO!

Parking here is a breeze as they have their own open lot with plenty of spaces. Walking in,it's tough not to just be instantly mesmerized by the pure beauty of the local fresh fruit available. Beautiful peaches, nectarines, cherries and berries-it all look so gorgeous. Inside was a little cramped and I went before they were named the #1 pie shop in America,I'd imagine those tight quarters are having a time handling the crowds it's getting now. My top 3 things I love about Ikedas are as follows. 1.I've always loved the availability of their yummy tamales and really tasty chicken pot pies. Both are generally available fresh or frozen if you want to enjoy these goodies at home. 2.I've always loved the massive availability of hot sauces and snacks that both locations of Ikedas have always had on hand.I always made it a point when I was coming down the hill to stop at Ikedas in Auburn for a tasty tamale-now that I realize the Davis location is so much closer,I can see being able to enjoy those tamales and pot pies so much more often. 3.Pies-enjoying a pie from Ikedas always felt like something that locals knew and they shared with us out-of-towners whenever we happened to visit one of their 2 locations. With the recent award they received naming them best pie shop in America,I imagine those days are over and the secret is out.Now everyone will know what we knew way back when and hopefully this doesn't change them,I hope they can keep the high level of quality with what I'm sure will be a huge leap in demand-I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they can. A bonus thing I love about Ikedas is their fruit freezes-they are so good,my niece hipped me to these and man are they worth the price of admission alone-they are so yummy-do yourself a favor and make sure to try one of these on your next trip to Ikedas. In closing, I'm so happy that Ikedas is finally getting the flowers they deserve with their recent award and I am proud to say I voted for them myself. If you haven't had the pleasure of visiting one of their two locations,do yourself a favor and get out there and grab some yummy fruit and a piece of pie-it's a good day spent for sure.

Blue Goose Produce is open the whole calendar year. It's located on Taylor Rd in downtown Loomis,…read moreso it's one of the most convenient locations to sample and buy seasonal Mandarin Oranges. As of 11/19/25, which is early season, you can buy a 4 lb bag for $10. While I was there, one farmer was sorting the oranges out by size. Apparently, the medium ones are the most popular. You could buy small ones for $1.50 per pound. Mandarins were attractive and juicy. Update: It's the sweetest and easiest to peel of the three different bags I bought on 11/19/25. Blue Goose Produce is associated with Westview Growers. If I remember correctly, there are 1500 mandarin orange trees in their orchards, so you can buy mandarins there until April! Farmers are friendly and informative to chat with. In October 2025, I believe I spoke with the owner Mark about the Blue Goose decor. One antiquities specialist soon found him a large metallic goose after he requested it. He painted it dark blue himself. This goose gets outfit changes to match the holiday! His family has been collecting blue goose decor over many years, which you can find throughout the store. I learned that a female goose can just be called a goose. A male goose is a gander, and Gander Taphouse is in the same plaza. Yesterday I learned that mandarin oranges taste better a day or longer after they have been picked. It takes time for them to sweeten. You can find a variety of local farm goods here, such as honey, scented candles, Earth & Vine products, local Newcastle Mandarin Ranch products, and Petaluma Creamery cheeses. You can buy pies here. I might call ahead to ask about available flavors. You can find limited produce here. I've bought a large tomato, finger grapes, and a ruby grapefruit here. Fuyu and Hachiya Persimmons are currently in season and look beautiful. Prices resemble that of a farmers market. If you like to support local farms, please stop by Blue Goose Produce.
