I wanted to make sure we found a vendor who was reliable, communicative, and on it, as we were planning our wedding and reception all by ourselves without a planner/coordinator. Ruben fit all of this to a T, he was fantastic at getting back to us right away after our initial inquiry, and was super helpful when it came to picking our menu. We were able to coordinate samplings, and the food was so good that we ended up having a barbecue and taco combo at our reception. Leading up, Ruben took great care for details to ensure everything was handled, and was super responsive as I sent updates. Handling the food/coordination wasn't stressful in the slightest, which was so helpful. I really appreciated the catering team's attention to my husband and I, bringing food to our sweetheart table-- I've heard of so many weddings where the bride and groom don't even get a chance to enjoy their food, but that certainly wasn't the case with our's and that is a testament to Rooster's Rolling BBQ Catering's attention to incredible service! Additionally, the food was very affordable compared to what we were anticipating-- we were able to have our best case scenario, and the agua frescas were a nice touch as well as delicious. :) I could go on and on about how fantastic everyone was, but instead I'll quote some of our guests... "The brisket and pulled pork were bomb!!! But that had to be the BEST MAC 'n cheese I've ever had in my life!!! " -- my 72 year old mother "My daughter said the tacos were bomb." -- my aunt, who had to leave early before the tacos were out (we split it up on purpose) And there were countless other comments from everyone; the food was fantastic and I cannot say enough good things about this company. HIGHLY recommend!!!

All of the other five star reviews are accurate, these guys can cook. BUT not only cook, they can make the bombest agua fresca !!! I cannot emphasize enough how delicious the agua frescas was. I think I went up or sent someone up at least 10 times. Overall, just amazing. Definitely would recommend to anyone who is looking for a delish caterer!

Five Senses was such a great dining experience and easily worthy of five stars…read more I started with the Umami Pork Ribs, which were incredibly tender and full of rich, savory flavor. The sauce had a great balance of sweetness and umami, and the pork practically fell apart with each bite. The Ivy Rose Roll was fresh, beautifully presented, and a nice contrast to the richness of the ribs. It felt light and balanced, with each ingredient coming through without overpowering the others. The Black Garlic Ramen was another highlight. The broth was deep, aromatic, and incredibly comforting, with that signature roasted black garlic flavor adding so much depth. The noodles were cooked perfectly and soaked up all of that rich broth. For dessert, I had the Green Tea Honey Ice Cream, which was the perfect way to finish the meal. It was creamy and refreshing, with the earthy flavor of green tea balanced nicely by the subtle sweetness of honey. Overall, the food at Five Senses felt thoughtful, creative, and well-executed from beginning to end. Every dish brought something different to the experience, and I would absolutely come back again.

Everything was delicious, but the standouts were the corn ribs and the ramen. The corn ribs are coated in a miso chili butter that's absolutely addictive--you'll be tempted to order another serving. The black garlic ramen with maitake mushrooms was heavenly. The broth had incredible depth of flavor, rich without being overly heavy. I added some of their homemade chili sauce (think habanero meets sriracha), and it took the bowl to another level. This should be everyone's go-to hangover meal. My wife's roll was also very good and nicely balanced. They also have a thoughtfully curated wine list that pairs well with the menu. The space is intimate and has a beautiful sushi bar. The front-of-house and back-of-house staff were incredibly attentive, welcoming, and genuinely friendly, which made the experience even better. It's exciting to have another quality dining option in Calistoga, and based on this first visit, we'll definitely be back to work our way through more of the menu.

Please heed my warning (and those of the other most recent reviews!) and save yourself the time,…read moremoney, effort, and stress - hire literally ANY other caterer for your event. After months of poor communication and several displays of unprofessionalism, I tried to cancel our contract 6 weeks prior to our wedding date. I was in a dispute with the owner (Gabe) to try and get a refund for an event he hadn't even catered, and he refused to provide it. Note that the owner himself has stated that he thinks his business is headed to an end. See attached photo for text messages I received from him with this claim. If anything, you don't want to work with someone who cannot maintain a professional demeanor in their client correspondence. In case you need further convincing to NOT hire Ring of Fire, feel free to read through my ordeal below. --- In February of this year, I reached out in search of a wedding caterer. Gabe invited me and my partner to a complimentary tasting with other couples who were interested in booking. The tasting went great (the ONLY thing that went well in all my interactions with them) so we booked and paid a 50% deposit. Over the next few months I reached out to get deadlines and feedback on our proposed menu. After repeated attempts to contact him, the only time he really reached out was to offer a discount on our balance if we paid it early. In hindsight, this should have been a *red flag* - no professional would ever reach out to a client to ask them to pay something in advance of the contract terms unless they were poorly managing their business and finances. Instead, thinking it was gesture of customer service, we went ahead and paid our balance early to get the discount. However, after paying, Gabe unprofessionally asked us to reschedule our already confirmed site tour in favor of booking another lunch. My wedding coordinator and I agreed to reschedule, only to have him NO SHOW for the site tour. 15 minutes after the confirmed meeting time I called Gabe to get his ETA. He didn't seem to know where our venue was (even though he accepted a calendar event with the date, time, and address in it) and told me was still 50 minutes away so we proceeded without him. Had we waited, he would have been OVER AN HOUR LATE. At this point, I lost faith that ROF could cater my event. We were still 6 weeks away from our date so I requested to cancel our contract and get back the balance payment (that HE requested we pay early). Needless to say, he did not want to grant the refund. I worked with an attorney and determined the best course of action was to file a dispute with the credit card company AND to sue him in small claims court as backup. Luckily, the credit card company resolved the dispute in my favor but I still experienced an extreme amount of stress trying to book a new caterer with less than 6 weeks from my wedding date - something I would never wish on any bride. Again, please save yourself the stress and look elsewhere for your caterer.

They were late in getting to my friends birthday celebration. Uncalled for.! The food was just okay but there was not enough for any seconds on appetizers. The staff seemed to not really know what was going on and did their best, alas the coup d'etat that the dessert was melted. Relatives of the birthday party ended up going to a local store to get dessert for the party because the catering staff was at a loss of what to do, to fix the problem, it was awful. This company is so unprofessional. I would never recommend them to anyone. Just bad, bad, bad on every level.

I had heard of them before because a friend used them for their wedding, and since I plan events for a living, I've worked with a lot of caterers. For my own event though, price mattered a lot, but I still wanted really good food. After reaching out to a bunch of places, I went with Havana because I had tried their food before and their pricing was very reasonable. We ordered full trays of adobo chicken, lechon roasted pork, crispy tofu, paella, sofrito rice, black beans, corn, poblano mac and cheese, and plantains. I did bring in one dish from another restaurant, Jamaican oxtail, just because I know my guests are big foodies. The biggest hits from Havana were definitely the poblano mac and cheese, lechon, and the paella. Honestly, the mac and cheese was the standout. Everyone kept going back for it and I wish I had ordered an extra tray. What really stood out to me though was the delivery experience. The driver called me ahead of time, brought everything in, and set it all up. He opened the trays with gloves, added sauces, arranged everything nicely, and even put out utensils and labels. I've had plenty of catering deliveries before and this was easily one of the best. He was just genuinely kind and went above and beyond, and it made a big difference. Overall, everything went smoothly, the food was great, and I would definitely order from them again.
