Our second favorite and would order again. 3. Cacio y pepe with broccoli added. For my American tastes, this was too heavily white pepper and not black pepper. Service was VERY good, probably the best I've had so far in Barcelona. All the food was delicious, I had the pesto rosso with chicken and the oreo tiramisu and they were both excellent. The best part is, everything came in a lunch special with any kind of pasta, a drink, and desert for €12!! The staff even gave us a side of chicken and shots of limoncello on the house. I went on my first date night with a new man in my life here on a Saturday after browsing Yelp for places in the Gracia neighborhood, where I was staying. The decor is decidedly contemporary, you could be in London or SF, but certainly had the bones of the old-world. The food is good, and they have a ton of options for you to choose from. You order at the counter with very friendly staff and they bring the food out as it is ready. One exciting part is the kitchen is right in front and you can watch your food being made! I had a really good rigatoni with pomodoro sauce, extra tomatoes and onions. The pasta was cooked just right, and the onions had a slight crunch that made the dish feel fresh. Macchina is a good little pasta restaurant. You pick your sauce, choose your ingredients, then your pasta type. I ordered pomodoro sauce with mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, shrimp with rigatoni noodles. My wife ordered Tagliatella pasta with spinach, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms in Panna sauce. What the cook didn't put in both orders was mushrooms. I checked the tag with our server and mushrooms were on it. My did wife get shrimp in her order that she didn't order. He apologized and asked to adjust our order But i said it's ok. Both cof our orders were very good. The pomodoro sauce was slightly tangy and flavorful. My wife's Panna sauce was creamy parmesan cheese. All the ingredients were fresh. Only the missing was mushrooms (-1). Pasta was was cooked perfectly al dante. I would have given Macchina a rating of 5/5 if our orders were correctly made. This place is in such a cute area, awesome little shops and bakeries surrounding it. What sparked our interest was the homemade pasta! It is very modern inside and you can see the pasta being made before your eyes! The employees were super helpful, even with the language barrier. She was nasty and unkind during the entirety of our exchanges and when she brought out my food I found a METAL SCREW in my pasta. Reasonable rates for dinner We ordered Pasta spinach with a olive oil chili sauce and a chicken salad both were yummy. Chicken was soft and had no frozen smell that was a win because I cannot stand frozen chicken. My kids loved their pasta with pesto sauce and their fresh lemonade was good. After several days of eating traditional often over priced Spanish food around Barcelona, and not really being impressed by much, we were so excited to try this little Italian shop. This spot produces excellent fresh pasta for an awesome price, we also saw that they deliver on uber eats! It's a really great concept where you choose your pasta, sauce and any add-ons and they bring it out. The pasta is made fresh in house and you are given a really cute spoon to tell the waiter where the order should go. They also had more traditional Spanish offerings like empanadas that were really nice and had great flavor. It's in a really cute area, the Gothic Quarter, that we probably would not have adventured to if it was not for finding this restaurant. After a week of spending a ton of money on food that let us down this inexpensive high quality find was definitely a saving grace for our Spanish vacation. read more

I can't express what a great hidden gem this was. I decided to check this place out after wanting to try other cuisines out in Barcelona. Macchina happened to be down the street from where I was staying, so this was a no brainer. The first time I was here, I ordered the burrata (I've always wanted to try this), lasagna, and panna cotta. We wanted something light before beginning NYE festivities. This restaurant is order first and then sit down. It was quite empty, so we were able to get a seat immediately. The burrata was SO fresh and was the perfect appetizer. The cheese inside was oozing out and was perfect with the bread. The lasagna was flavorful and the portion was huge (for what we were paying for). What blew me away was their panna cotta. I am a huge fan of panna cotta and it's rare for me to find one that is silky smooth and packed with that creamy flavor. The panna cotta here is THAT and MORE! There is a perfect balance between the panna cotta and the blueberry (I think) compote on top. One was not enough for my boyfriend and I. The second time around, we decided to build our own pasta. The pasta is SO fresh here and was cooked to perfection. I was surprised with how much ravioli gave me for how much I was paying (I honestly forgot the prices.... I want to say around 7 euros). This time we ordered 2 panna cotta because we just couldnt get enough of it. We ordered a tiramisu as well which was so great! I honestly did not expect any less from them. It was busier when we came here again, so it was harder to find a table, but people do not stay long so there is not much wait. This location is alot more quaint, cozy, and smaller than the one in L'eixample. There are quite a few tables and it was nearly full on a late Sunday afternoon. Grab your menu then pick your pasta, sauce, and your favorite ingredients. The lasagna was quite large (for 7,90 euros!) and filled with alot of meat and cheese - highly recommended. The taglietelle with bolognese sauce was amazing as well. They also have a great classic salad that comes with greens, red onions, tomatoes and tossed with a lemon vinegarette. Great pasta place! Many tourists come here in my experience, but it's still a really great place to go get pasta. The food is really good, I've never been disappointed with anything I've eaten here. The pasta is really really good, as can be expected at a pasta bar. It's an interesting way of ordering too, you have this long list of options and ingredients, and at the end you have to choose a combination. It is not authentic Catalan or really Barcelona, but it's one of the most acceptable un-Catalan, and sort of touristy restaurants in Gràcia. They're very nice, and always attentive. One of the best pasta places I have tried. They have a good selection of pastas, sauces and vegetables--each dish I have tried has been tasty, timely and well served. The atmosphere is welcoming and cozy--I see many family groups with younger children. The servers are friendly and appear to be happy to receive you and explain their process without rushing you.
