Unitek is an Apple Premier Partner, Premium Service Provider and Apple Certified repair store with multiple locations in California. Unitek at 705 N Lake Avenue, Pasadena, CA 91104 was the closest store to me in Ridgecrest, California. I called to make sure that Unitek would be able to work on my vintage MacBook Pro Computer. Amazingly Isaac said, "Unitek welcomes walk-in customers!" I told Isaac when I would arrive the next day. I explained I was driving over 140 miles one way and wanted to make sure he could look at my computer, diagnose it, then hopefully order any parts necessary for the repair. Since my MacBook Pro computer was a Mid-2012 model (it may have been challenging to even get the parts.) I was happy and grateful that I found a Certified Apple Repair store willing to work on my computer! Isaak listened to the problems with the computer. Then Isaac took my MacBook Pro computer and started working on it right away! After diagnosing the problem, Isaac replaced the cable that goes to the hard drive. My MacBook Pro computer has worked perfectly ever since! Isaac explained the cable to the hard drive had been replaced. Isaac even had a spare hard drive cable and installed it! Isaac told me, "No data was lost and the MacBook Pro computer was working fine." However, I was relieved that the computer was backed up on an external hard drive before it crashed. I am happy and grateful that Isaac was able to repair my computer in a little over an hour! Now it is time for me to buy a refurbished, or new Apple MacBook Pro computer As Soon As Possible! Isaac was a pleasure to work with and did a fantastic job! Isaac even let me use the High-Speed WiFi in the store to back up my MacBook Pro on the external hard drive after the repair. First off, NEVER GIVE YOUR LAPTOP PASSWORD TO ANYONE! The actual Apple store would NEVER need this…read moreinfo from you, therefore neither should other "authorized store" I know they're listed as an Apple approved business, but they really shouldn't for various reasons. Background story, my laptop screen stopped working. I have a 13-inch, 2016 MacBook Pro, 2 thunderbolt 3 ports and my display backlight stopped working. This has been listed on Apple's recall service program as of 1/15/2020. My AppleCare has terminated since it's been over 5 years, but on Apple's recall page it clearly states that all recall items have 3 years to get a free repair due to the recall if this is your issue, whichever is longer. Here are some red flags: 1. They told me I was wrong and that recalls don't have this policy, therefore my laptop wouldn't be covered. (Maybe I look like a young female who doesn't know anything, but I do. So I didn't fall for it). They offered to "look into it" if I gave them 7 days to see if I qualified or not -- I said sure. 2. After taking down all of my info they asked for my laptop password aka ACCESS TO EVERYTHING ON MY LAPTOP. Not ONCE does Apple EVERRRRRR ask you for your password to you laptop. DO NOT DO IT. This is how people's information, photos, everything gets leaked. They should be able to do everything without logging in. 3. I was told it would cost $120 for them to try and see what was wrong. Plus the $500ish fee to replace the parts. But $120 to maybe see what was wrong?? (also the family in front of me were not given a diagnostic fee, sooo I'm not sure what their laptop issue was but why is there this disprency). 4. Lastly they were just so rude to me from the moment I got there. When it was my turn to speak with them, they asked why I didn't make an appointment. To which, I let them know I had--it was 20 mins ago because the line was long. But the rudeness is something I can deal with but the others especially red flag #2...those are NOT ok. I digress. I ended up speaking with Apple Support online, asked to mail my laptop to them to have it looked at. They shipped me a box, I sent them my laptop WITHOUT having to give them any passwords, they fixed my recalled laptop for FREE, and I got my laptop back all in less than 7 days. Please be careful with your things.

Fantastic service!…read more I have an old Surface Pro 7 that I was going to give to my parents so they could have a laptop, and I haven't touched it in years so it was no surprise to see an error screen upon turning it on. The computer turned on, but couldn't go past the blue screen asking for the recovery key or it showed an ongoing system update that never ended. My husband and I tried everything we could on the internet and decided to go to Andrew for assistance. Andrew did exactly what I asked for, wiped everything off the computer and installed Windows 10 so that the laptop was functional again. They were able to fixed my laptop within a week and charged me $330. What a great deal compared to $700! They're definitely a professional company. I have a 2021 Macbook Pro that was missing a single key, I took it to the Apple Store on 3rd street Promenade first. Because the mounting tabs were damaged they told me it needed the entire keyboard replaced with the entire top case (apparently it comes as a whole assembly). Apple Store wanted me to leave my laptop there for 5-7 business days (!!!). When I questioned why so long, they said they're very busy. Then I asked if I could just bring in the laptop when it's my turn and leave it for only one day, they said that's not possible as they didn't work that way. Well, as my primary and only work computer I cannot be without it for that long, but they didn't care (btw I have AppleCare+, but it didn't make a difference). Long story short, I took the laptop to Mac911 and they told me they'd order the replacement part and I could just bring in the laptop for one day to get the work done once the part arrives. Sure enough, I dropped it off a Saturday morning and by closing time it was ready for me. What the Apple Store wasn't willing to do they did it without any hassle. A+, thank you Felix!

I wasn't positive all my data had been saved to the cloud. I also wasn't sure how to do a definitive check on it. Not only did Mac 911 NOT show me how to check, they charged me $175 to crack it open and do a diagnostic and charged me $407 to recover my data on an external hard drive. I'm thankful they were able to recover it, but everyone I've spoken to has told me I WAY overpaid. They wanted to charge me $1800 to send it out and fix it. "It's a 2019 anyway, it didn't have much time left," I was told. They knew I was broke and panicked and it feels like they saw me coming. Feel totally taken advantage of, and, frankly, Don has all the warmth and personality of dried brush on the side of a dirt road. He seems rather indifferent about the importance of one's machine. HE's a machine. Mac 911 would be my last choice for problems with your Mac product. They're great if you're rich. They bled me dry. Sure wish my computer stayed dry.
